61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why isn't anyone taking about this? This is bullish news! on: February 07, 2018, 05:22:55 AM
That's a really good news indeed.

Sadly in downtrend periods, people tends to ignore good news and keep only bad news. But that's the same thing on uptrend periods, bad news are ignored.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: KYC Docs on: February 06, 2018, 08:21:58 PM
Currently KYC docs are collected and stored by companies to justify from where their funds they collected come from. This is useful to justify on banks and countries when they need to cash out to pay employees and company expenses.

Companies themselves cannot check if you're a terrorist, drug dealer or trying to do money laundering, but countries will have to check.

By the way, you must be careful on which ICO you decide to invest, a scam steling personal informations can be devastating for your entire life if someone steal your identity.
63  Economy / Economics / Re: Nothing is dying except the illusion of easy seemless riches. on: February 06, 2018, 06:04:53 PM
In fact that's why I think corrections are sometimes a great thing for cryptocurrencies. Greed people leave the market faster, once they realize the easy rich system is in fact not that easy. Believers will stay here and this is these people who truely support cryptocurrencies and help these to progress.
64  Economy / Economics / Re: What happens if bitcoin price falls below the cost of mining it? on: February 06, 2018, 06:00:32 PM
Once this happens, some miners stop mining, this mosltly happens in countries where electricity is more expensive. Then, when the difficulty is re-ajusted and lowered, it's easier again to mine so mining can become profitable again.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The bigger bitconnect: TETHER on: February 05, 2018, 08:20:16 PM
If you're worried about Tether, sell your Tether to buy some BTC and just leave the place for a few weeks. Seems like at this state, there is no real statement about tether solvability, so that means all we hear all around here can be considered as FUD.

Furthermore, a lot of you still hold USD, and you all know USD is backed only by air and no one cares, so why do you care so much about tether ? The only difference you have here is that tether isn't printed by a central bank.
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Only a wet dream from me? on: February 05, 2018, 05:54:57 PM
In fact, that would push the price down proportionnaly to the amount big holders would give. That's like an airdrop, once an aidrop occurs on a coin, the price drops because there is more supply in circulation, but the market cap stay the same. Most people understand quickly this concept and to protect their investment, they sell directly once the airdrop happens.

So yeah, you would feel more rich in BTC, but BTC value would drop as well. Consider long term holded coins as lost, and lost coins tends to push the price up as they're not in the market and this makes the currency more rare.

Just imagine in real life, if you decide to give every months 1000$ freely to all people. At first, that's cool, but once retailers sees that buying power increased, they will push the price up as people can pay more. So you'll get more money, but everything will cost more. That's inflation.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: managing private keys on: February 05, 2018, 06:21:01 AM
Could you please tell us which wallet do you use ?

The method to get your private keys is a bit different on each wallets.

Btw, once you get these, you should find a secure way to store these. A good one is to print it and keep somewhere safe. But to protect your paper backup, it's better to keep another backup somewhere. For me, as I haven't switched to a hardware wallet, I decided to store these on an encrypted keepass file, in an encrypted usb drive that I don't store on the same place than the paper backup.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa and Mastercard Now Charge an Additional Fee for Buying Cryptocurrency on: February 04, 2018, 06:47:37 PM
I never used a credit card to buy bitcoin, but I remember I saw some platforms putting high fees with credit cards, even before that.

Wire transfers are still the best way to buy.
69  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency Market [centralization] on: February 04, 2018, 01:15:35 PM
In fact most of the coins are indexed on BTC price, which means if BTC crashes, others alts will follow. So yeah, because of that, BTC incluences the whole market.

You can take as example Ethereum, which survived a bit longer on the crash, because ETH is more indexed in USD than others coin.

About USDT, I completely follow 1Referee, it's not more a problem now.
And I would say, who cares if USDT really own what they are supposed to have ? We all know banks haven't the whole USD they are supposed to have, so USDT would be a good replica  Tongue. People are afraid of USDT just only because the price drops, and not the opposite, that's because we always (as humans) need an understandable reason when something negative happens.

70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buy and Hold 100 Cryptocurrencies for 5 Years – Official Thread on: February 03, 2018, 09:35:13 PM
Haha, I've been always wondering if it could work, so let's see  Smiley

Good luck with that. Almost all altcoins from 2013 (5 years old) are dead now, but all these coins were kept alive buy some guys who were alone and doing this as a hobby. And even dead, versus USD, almost all of these were profitable. Current coins are backed by companies, so that's quite sure a lot of coins from 2017 will survive longer, some of these will be still here in 5 years for sure.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum will beat Bitcoin? on: February 03, 2018, 07:11:36 PM
This is possible to see this happening this year, Ethereum is progressing well and it will maybe switch to POS this year, which could have a positive impact because there will have less inflation.

That might be possible that Ethereum has already a bigger market cap if we only take coins in circulation. Bitcoin' circulating supply is really less than real supply because of all lost coins (take as example satoshi who has 1m BTC that we can consider as lost). ETH has much less coins lost. I don't know if there is a website that count "lost coins", that would be interesting to check  Smiley
72  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to buy! on: February 03, 2018, 09:24:57 AM
That's impossible to say if it's the good time to buy as we can't know if it will go lower, but for the short term, that's sure it is as we will recover a least a little bit from this dip.

73  Economy / Speculation / Re: India just BANNED Bitcoin? Will BTC now crash? on: February 02, 2018, 05:55:55 AM
Still a FUD from medias. It's hard to know the exact amount of times that BTC was "banned" or interpreted as banned in a country. It seems like we really have the same scheme than what we had in early 2014.

This interpretation is funny : for them, something "not legal" is illegal. In fact this is different, something not legal is not illegal, but governement just hasn't regulated it yet. Currently, there is almost no country where BTC is officialy legalized as payment system, so that would mean BTC is illegal in the whole world ? Seriously...

75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is BCH not King? on: January 30, 2018, 10:16:59 AM
Another reason maybe : this is still bitcoin which is used for almost all trading pairs, BCH still remains as all others classic altcoins, it's just another one, in fact. What can you trade with your BCH ? Almost everything, except BTC, ETH or USDT.

If exchanges would have switched their pairs to BCH, the situation could be much different now.
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Swedish bank forbids 31000 employees from investing in Bitcoin or crypto on: January 30, 2018, 09:44:23 AM
... And what will they do if you invest ?  Roll Eyes

That's the kind of interdiction where everyone says "ooooh, such a bad news", and 3 months later, even employees themselves have forgotten about it.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First UK's bitcoin robbery. Stay safe. on: January 29, 2018, 06:50:27 PM
Such a sad story, indeed.

It's hard to protect us versus this, best way would be to split our currencies into multiples wallets as said Caledfwlch, in this way, even if a thief steal us, he couldn't know we own multiples wallets (let's hope he doesn't know exacly how much we own).

So yeah, we lose a bit, but we still have the rest protected, and we're safe.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: KYC of bounty hunters on: January 29, 2018, 05:31:23 PM
Currently it seems like we start to have a KYC abuse, we see this term everywhere and for nothing.

It seems fair to follow a KYC process when you need to invest, so it's justified as they receive money from others parties, but for bounties or airdrops, it's just a steal of personal information. Be careful because some projects could be just a scam to steal personal informations, and if someone use your identity, sometimes, it can take years to recover from it, if the thief use it to make credits....

Just imagine if someone offers you a sampling of your favorite soda brand and request a copy of your ID card, your name, adress, phone number, will you accept ?  Roll Eyes

We shouldn't care if someone make multi accounts for bounties, because if he wants to be rewarded twice, he will have to work twice more, so well, being paid twice isn't a crime.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you suppose will happen when BTC loses it's dominance? on: January 29, 2018, 07:56:02 AM
I'm quite sure this could happen this year. In my opinion, this doesn't will change our life, and I even think BTC, at the first time will only lose his dominance temporary. This could happen once ETH will switch to casper as example.

It will take time before we see BTC losing its dominance forever, but it's quite sure that will happen, when you see how alts are progressing.
