Check the blackarrow official thread, they have nothing to do with that europe site and are trying to get it taken down.

Wait, you reset the heatsink and it temporarily worked, and then started heating up again? I think you found your issue, but just didn't completely fix it. Have another look at your thermal paste. Maybe get an accelero III? They're only like $85 on Newegg, and you will see lower core temps.

Is a $85 dollar fan really necessary? Whats the difference beteween that and one of the many $10-30 dollar fans?

ditto, dont waste money on a cooler. If you look on the for sale section of this site you will see someone selling that card with a cooler on it and his hash rate does not justify that extra expense and time.

All that gear is fine, get whats cheapest. You dont need a UPS. It will make  your rig more stable but if you have your rig set to automatically start mining when the power cuts out and comes back on the UPS might not restart, my APC UPS did NOT restart my rig . I removed my UPS from my rig for this reason
65  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Risers with molex on: January 05, 2014, 05:30:00 PM
It depends from VGA to VGA some cards pull out maximum power from 6pin or 8pin connectors and some of them pull through motherboard also. In case of 280x, 290 and 290x it is better to use powered risers.

yep agree, I use unpowered risers on cards that have no sep power connectors. My 7950 and 7970 the cards 'do' work but they are way more stable with powered risers.

No problems at all. That psu is not even close to being pushed with those cards. Enjoy  Grin

My guess is that the original post probably summed up things for a lot of people. I too am addicted to hardware and have infected 3 other people. Now I get instant messages all day from them 'how do I do this? 'whats this mean?' they are friends so its fun.

74  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: BlackArrow => Scam or not? on: December 24, 2013, 02:38:26 PM
Don't listen to the Trolls.  Black Arrows FPGAs were sold through CardReaderFactory. So this is not news.
They also have links to Europe, so hosting in Germany is not exactly anything to worry about.

Guess my point was lost on all the people drooling on their keyboards. Here, let me sum it up for the mouth breathers...
(hopefully your lips don't move as you read this)

Try to think, if only for a second, '30,000 foot overview', look over there...try to ignore the squirrel and shinny things, hey, its 'Vegas'

If you want to make money, lots of money, as in 'pay my mortgage' money, you are in the wrong place. If you want to have fun and gamble a bit etc, bitcoin is super big fun.

Don't plan on feeding your family with this, oh, wait, hmm... guess that pretty much defines what a hobby is.

I will fly there and give you $10,000 cash at your door IF you show it running.

IF you waste my time I hope you have health insurance...
78  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Which motherboards can support 4-6 graphics cards? on: December 24, 2013, 09:14:49 AM
Run more rigs with less cards. Trust me, much easier and more efficient. Those who say different have not done both.
79  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Random lockups/freezes on mining rig. 0.1 BTC bounty for a fix on: December 24, 2013, 09:02:49 AM
I have been down this road. Read carefully and do NOT discount my input.

Does your rig run ok with ONE card installed?  I bet it does (try it)

I have found that different cards do not play well together. I can get 7870 and 7970 to work just fine, throw another different card in the mix and the whole thing craps out.

IF you cannot get ONE card to work then you have a serious fault somewhere else. Could be many places, ram, mobo, hd, etc. Might be as simple as a faulty cable, but which one?

Suggest you get ONE card working and mining, pick one, and get it running for 24 hours. This way you will know your rig is sound at least.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HELP! struggling to make 6 gpu R9 290 rig to run on windows 7 on: December 24, 2013, 08:56:06 AM
I think I'll only run 4 per board, once stable maybe expand, but I don't like the idea of 6 cards down or 1/2 of my power, I'd rather 3 rig's and only loose 1/3.

If they drop in price, than expand Smiley

THIS is very smart thinking and exactly what I do. Run more rigs with fewer cards, WAY easier to manage and your down time (there will be lots) will not hurt you as much.
