It is a marketing strategy to gather the attentions of investors. Without bounties your ico will go unnoticed to the public and you will miss a lot of potential audience.

Yes that is true, I believe airdrops are just a waste of time. They say that there are many scams in bounty campaign but airdrops is much more worst.
