Looks good! I like the visual specific chain tracking. I'd like some specific tuning capability soon!

What's the behavior if you point it to a pool that doesn't support version rolling? Does it show an error and goto the backup pool?

Great question! Shows up as dead, and tries to find the next pool.

Also, I didn't specifically show off the dark accent option of the GUI! I made a clip of me changing the that around and you can see the pools. Pools 1 and 2 are the ones that don't support ASICBoost, where the third is compatible. This is the interface after applying the firmware - you can see some GUI changes! A welcome addition. I would really like tuning capabilities in a future update! Smiley

It's nice to have a good look at this machine, thank you.  Smiley

I've waited ever since from January for this to happen and now it finally has.

Thank you! And thanks for your prior reviews as well - I looked at one of your prior reviews for formatting ideas Smiley

64  Bitcoin / Hardware / Reviewing the Halong Mining DragonMint T1, a 10nm Bitcoin Miner on: April 12, 2018, 10:02:49 PM
This thread is a review of Halong Mining's DragonMint T1, their first offering in the SHA256 market. There will be detailed pictures of the GUI and a hardware teardown.

The  DragonMint T1 "Terminator" is Halong's first SHA-256 offering, utilizing AsicBoost with specifications advertised at 16TH, 1480W @ 240/25c, with an ±8% variation.

Halong Mining was first publicly advertised around November of 2017, with many prominent figures in the Bitcoin community endorsing the legitimacy of the project. Preorders were offered at $1350 for the miner. Myrig is advertised as Halong's distribution arm globally. The official websites, along with the twitter handles are listed below:

https://Halongmining.com, https://twitter.com/halongmining
https://Myrig.com, https://twitter.com/MyRig_com

Halong Mining's representative, Scott O, was prominent on the Halong thread and that's when he advertised that he lived near Milwaukee. Being a resident here locally, I took Scott up on his open offer to review the unit in person, which I did in early January. I was delighted with what I saw, and became a customer not too long afterwards. Last month I offered to review a unit, which was provided in addition to the PSU, which I received yesterday.

Without further ado, the unboxing!

As we can see, the unit has the standard "tube" form factor, a common form factor. The PSU has 10 PCI connectors, which plug into the 3 ASIC chains (3 each), and one in the control board.

More close ups, and plugging in the PSU!

After plugging it into my setup, it didn't take long for it to show up on my network. I navigated to the page. The default login username is "admin", and the password is "dragonadmin"

The default pool settings! As with most miners, the hashrate spikes up when it first goes online, it equalized as time went on.

I adjusted the pool settings and pointed them to slush. Here's the GUI hashrate at two minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, and finally at 75 minutes!

Poolside stats! Averaged at 16.07 TH in a bit over an hour.

Amp pull was fluctuating between 6.5 and 6.6 amps, which reflected consumption between 1560 and 1584 watts. The ambient heat in the room was hotter than usual, close to 30c/86f intake (thanks B29 miners!). I used a Fluke 323 Meter to measure the precise pull.

Here's the rest of the GUI!

GUI updates (existing and upcoming!) - including a demonstration of the color scheme change!

Onwards to the tear down! Off with the warranty seals.

Halong has an official setup video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQOU1PLKerk

PDF version:
https://halongmining.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/DragonMint-Setup-Instructions.pdf

You'll need to use an active version rolling pool (AsicBoost) with this miner, such as CK or Slush pools.

There currently are no firmware updates published on the website, however, Halong's Telegram (https://t.me/dragonmint)
published one for the T1 here (updated to Beta version - 041518) -
https://download.halongmining.com/testing/t1_20180415_075807.swu

I uploaded all the pictures here to imgur albums (some bonus ones too that are not posted here!). First one is the GUI, the second is the hardware. Third one is the new GUI changes.

Hardware Teardown
New GUI changes

To conclude, I'm impressed at Halong's first generation DragonMint T1 "Terminator". It's great to see more competition in the field, and even more impressive that this is Halong's first public run. I'm eager to see what Halong will do next.

A special thanks goes out to Scott, Drak, Yoshi, and the rest of the team at Halong for providing me the unit to review. I look forward to seeing T2, T3, T4 and beyond! Maybe an "Enforcer?" Smiley

Stay tuned to the official twitter channels, telegram, and the website for more information for future releases from Halong!

Thanks for reading into my review of the DragonMint T1! It's my first review here on the forum. Please feel free to post any questions/comments below Smiley

Modified 5/19/18
65  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 12, 2018, 02:01:37 PM
Firmware update:

https://download.halongmining.com/files/t1/t1_20180409_010732.swu

Improvements:

Miner Status page update: Independent ASIC Chain Graphs, visual changes
Performance Tab: Auto-Tune capability
Firmware Tab: Automatically check and apply updates.

I believe the unit automatically calibrates itself after applying this update, so hash rate should peak 30-60+ minutes into that function.

After over an hour of testing, the machine settled out to spec at the pool. I'll do some further testing as well, I primarily did a tear down today.

Amp draw @ 240v was fluctuating between 6.5 and 6.6 amps, which puts it at 1560-1584 watts. Bit higher ambient too.

I should have my general review done tomorrow sometime Smiley

Mostly done testing, I'm very pleased with the results so far. Functional at spec and it's real!

I want to see if they actually used -ck pool as a default pool

Here's the defaults! This is just as it loaded up. More on my review later.

T1 just arrived at my office, going to go grab it Smiley

If anyone had anything they wanted to see out of the miner, I'll try to accommodate any requests as I do my general review. Let me know!

Damn its got a real nice GUI and has some cool settings. I really like it will auto-tune out of the box but is there any settings for manually overclocking? I wonder if we can do some tweaking from command-line like putty.

Unfortunately not. You can't manually tune it at all. During calibration it appears to do 3 or 4 rounds of 10-12 minute peak testing, and it redirects to CK's pool during this.

1 of my units is at 2.31, another is at 2.33, the other 4 are 2.36

The on pool hashrate seems to be around spec, so there's some loss between GUI and actual pool hashrate. Perhaps this will be hammered out in a future update.

My setup for the 6 B29's -- not the cleanest i've had, but it works!

On another note, I hit 6 blocks already. Should of been solo mining with that luck Smiley

After testing a few pools, I like coinmine the most.

Picture!

Here's the rest of the GUI for Halong's B29 units -  I uploaded to an imgur album: https://imgur.com/a/LjgWH

Color change! I like the black background more.

No so sure if  the blake model will have a lot of custom issues.

The single T1 btc miner should be okay.

I setup notifications on the cell phone and email.

Just in case I need to prepay  the 3%  USA charges us for over $2500 items.

I get the other T1  from a forum member this tuesday.

This means I will have 2 t1's to test against each other.

@dimaze  did you get stuck  with a custom duty bill from dhl on the blake miner or the sha 256 miner?

Because I paid for them all, yeah - was exactly 3% of the value. It's all based on what is on the invoice. If they're sending you the free unit and the invoice shows likewise, I don't think you'll end up paying a penny. Or they may put a base value that is minimal compared to their selling value, which should be below the 2500 threshold anyways.

I think we'll end up getting them wednesday/thursday if they shipped out today based on my experience with the blakes. Exciting!

Probably get them before mine clear customs in Canada Cry

How long have yours been stuck in customs?

I got my notification email an hour ago too. The T1 Smiley
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DragonMint B29 Blake256 Miner (March) on: April 08, 2018, 04:35:58 AM
What are they currently hashing at for you and how much of a power draw per unit?

21.5 amp pull on all 6 @ 240v is about 860 watts each
GUI shows between 2.31-2.36T, will report on pool average hashrate after a few days, seems to be a bit lower at the pool
78  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 07, 2018, 07:44:37 PM
Your previous post about seeing higher numbers than factory spec can be confusing. This is the dragonmint T1 thread so lets stay on topic.

When you receive a Dragonmint T1 for review, I hope you plan on backing up any stated numbers with proof. Other forum members will be releasing in depth reviews soon so you do not want to have egg on your face. So far I have not yet seen any Halong customers showing factory specs on their T1's. Only Halong insiders seem to have rigs with factory specs  Roll Eyes

Hah. Only if I was an insider. I'm just a believer and a happy customer so far Smiley

I plan on doing fairly extensive review on the T1 when I do get it. So far, I agree the specs floating around appear to be closer to 15.5 out the box. I just wanted to let you all know of the auto-tune capability on the other offerings, and it was indicated on Telegram the T1s should have this capability too.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DragonMint B29 Blake256 Miner (March) on: April 07, 2018, 07:31:45 PM
Did they send you tracking for your miners? I still haven't received any tracking but their support said all the miners have been shipped and they are waiting to get the shipment manifest before they can update order status on their website.

DHL sent me a preship advisory right under 24 hours before Halong's email. I ordered within minutes of these going active too, order #552x. So if they all shipped today, I'd expect a tracking as soon Halong updates the orders.
80  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 07, 2018, 05:45:02 PM
That's correct. More on the B29 thread here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3077076.new#new

I haven't received my T1 yet. My guess is it will ship after the paid batches are out.

The B29's have an "auto tune" feature which increased my lowest unit's hashrates there too. It was about a 30-40 minute process that appeared to slowly increase the hashrate to the most tolerable point. The telegram chat mentioned this is an upcoming feature for the T1 too, so I'd expect further gains.
