I tried. Nothing is loose.
How to detect which board is faulty?
I'd have to send back to KNC some boards, but I do not know which one to send.

Run Each board in Turn in Isolation for an Hour each or more.

Record the results (Hash rate, HW errors, Cores on and off and VRM DC/DC Status (using bertmod) ).

62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 25, 2013, 01:35:17 PM
I have to ask, does this look right to everyone?  I am wondering if it is a bertmod issue or why I get such poor performance, just disabled cores not showing.

Have you ran that Board in Isolation to see what Hashing rate you get from it. Unless its a mercury (if so what's your Speed).
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 25, 2013, 12:44:22 PM
Got my Three replacement Boards for my underperforming Juipter.

Previously I had around 400Gh/s average (360Gh/s at BTC-Guild) over 25% HW errors.

Now

Average 540Gh/s (5sec Shows peaks of over 600Gh/s), BTC-Guild showing 507Gh/s.

Running 0.95 (will let it burn in for 24 hours).

*Noticed new boards all still Rev1. But had Labels on them all marked as G  (don't know what that indicates if anything).

bertmod Show all cores on all dies 100%.

Using Chill Factor 3 Thermal paste.

Will update tomorrow after 24hrs.

My plug'n'pray device is on it's way

Yeah Right, your just saying that for the Attention.   ;-)

Good luck with it.

My replacement Boards (x 3) are expect at my house later today.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 23, 2013, 11:54:14 AM
I work in returns - you can't judge them based on one fluke in thousands - Maybe in a different circumstance they would offer you a mercury module free of charge but I don't see this happening as you have no more upgrade room.

I know this is a crazy off shoot of a chance but is there ANY remote possibility that the miners didn't have the plastic sealers removed between the heat sinks and the chips?  I wish the best of luck for you and hope they come up with a good recourse for you.

No plastic, the chip that was running the hottest is the one I have running now. It just down to cores . All boards were Number #1, Think I have just been unlucky.

Are those lying fucks at KNC ...

Above all else we will be fair.

Sam
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

... is not fair.

Dear KNC,

If anyone of your staff or CSRs or Engineers are here, I do not at all agree with the above.  Thank you soo much for delivering my Mercury within a relatively short time frame...definitely compared to other vendors.  You guys gave me a unit that has been consistently high with no problems to report at all.  Your unit only took me 5 minutes to get up and running and then, when I upgraded to .96 unlike the naysayers, I like it a lot!  Now that I see .97 in just two days...I'm now stoked (I wasn't really tripping about the flushwork issue so much from the increased hashrate) I don't think that you guys get enough credit and plan to send this to you as an email as well in the high probability that this gets lost in the muck and minutiae.

Keep up the great work!

Frankenmint

Good for you, glad your having a better experience than me.

I have made 3.2 BTC's in 7 Days.

3 Cards sent back to KNC via a RMA, Jupiter running on 1 Card for last 2 days.

Once KNC send me my replacement cards and I am hashing at (400GH/s or more) the advertised speed at time of purchase.

I will them send them an Invoice for my Loses and time.

Then lets see how good a company they are.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 21, 2013, 05:23:29 PM

Would ROFL except it made me sad.

 Cry

your theory seems to be true though..  my one board with the dead die runs significantly hotter than the rest and that is with it hashing at 75%

can't see anything with the eyes that stands out, and while it hashes at 75% not really worth it to keep shutting things down to fudge with it for now

maybe RMA it when KNC gets out of the woods

me too have a completely dead die but all my fans where in place (i've checked while unboxing).

this happens for the two jupiters I own. (so one bad asic slot ech jup)

the common thing is that both the "flaky" asics are marked with a #3 stickers.

edit1: i've asked to hno (OrSoC eng) on irc channel it there's a relation between number on sticker and quality and he said a "weak one", but he didn't say everything he knows imho (and I can understand him)

Any significance to the sticker numbers? All my Jupiter boards have a "1" and I've been running 525-550GH/s fairly consistently.

Not for me. All my boards have #1 on them. Three of them now on their way back to KNC via a RMA return.

My Mistake it is a T10 , I guessed at T8 it fitted and worked.

You know, a lot of the problems people have had could have been prevented by a decent burn in period. It would be fine with buyers if it meant a day late delivery because the rigs would be hashing on the pool details given so it wouldn't mean any lost income. They would just be hashing there instead of at our end but where faults are so much easier to fix.

That's my thoughts exactly.

The Testing before shipping, should be against your Pool details (as provided for configuration) and then Shipped when the Unit achieves the advertised Hash Rate.

KNC has employed us all as unpaid beta testers.

Got a RMA Number for 3 Faulty (under performing boards) on my Jupiter.

I asked about comp for my loss and for my Time , they will not offer any compensation.

Also the worrying thing is they Said and I Quote " The replacement boards can not be guaranteed to run at the Advertised speed as they are untested".

Well better go get some Thermal paste and await their return.

So they can''t test replacements before sending them? You could return bad boards and get more bad ones in return? That's poor.

Piss Poor.

Well the Boards are on the way to the post office.

My now 1 Board Jupiter is Hashing away at a Happy 140Gh/s on CGMiner and reporting 137Gh/s at BTC-Guild.

*Tip  T20 required for Case, T8 required for Board to case and a PH1 required for Heat-Sink cross bar.

Well I am at a total loss why my Jupiter does not get above 410Gh/s. (380 at BTC Guild)

Tried every firmware, tried the Enable cores patch and still the same.

Look at the results from bertmod, I have 1 Asic #4 showing (192 Cores all on hashing at 130Gh/s)

The other 3 Asics (# 0 , 2 , 3)

#0=80.58Gh's , #2=93.36Gh/s , #3=88Gh/s

The DC/DC are all showing 4 on and ok apart from Aisc #3 only showing 3 DC/DC on and ok , no other found.

Temps are as Follows

HW status:

ASIC slot #1: 53.5 ℃
ASIC slot #2: -
ASIC slot #3: 54.0 ℃
ASIC slot #4: 61.0 ℃
ASIC slot #5: 58.5 ℃
ASIC slot #6: -

Thought this was to be plug and play, I have spend Hours upon Hours trying to nurse this Lemon back into life.

Got in Mining on the Day it arrived Wednesday the 16th at 14:00 (UK time), Mining via BTC-Guild I have the grand total of :-

2.25 BTC's

Any Suggestions on what KNC should be offering to do when I call them again tomorrow.

can someone confirm the reset procedure via the little black button.

Is it (I know I read the Manuel but just need to sanity check) press 5 time in a row, then wait 5 seconds and then press it a further 5 times in a row.

What does this do and how does it differ from Power off and back on.

that's some terrible readings

did you look inside the case?   is everything tight and seem right?

Every thing looks and feels (nothing loose) apart front fans when miner arrived.

I don't think any firmware upgrade s going to fix my problems, think I need a New miner.

Running at the moment with out Asic #3 due to only having 3 DC/DC (which I assume are the VRMs) and should be 4 DC/DC like the other boards.

On version 0.95 Running at just shy of 300Gh/s.

New firmware release didn't appear to change the (low) hashing rates with hosted units.   Currently at 350 and 480.

I take it you can not ssh into hosted units.

Call or email support and ask for a copy of the asic_test (included in 0.96) results and ask them to explain all the faulty cores.

Was it previously working with 0.95?  Can you flash it back?

The Two that Show Failed no Cores are the empty Slots 6 Asic connections (0 - 5) No connection in 1 and 5.

Going to give it tow hours running at 0.96 (back up that asic_test file) Power reboot, then see test file again.
