61  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: April 16, 2014, 06:07:08 AM
Already got an upgrade. Had it for a few weeks now. It's actually not mine but I set it up for a buddy. It's been having more issues than the other one, but with the upgrade, I'd say it gets about 850-900GH. Can't really overclock it though because it had experienced issues - pci-were melting at the psu - and had to replace to a higher wattage power supply; although I don't know if this will fix the problem.

His sierra order number was 1930s I think.

A buddy of mine got his last Saturday. Been hashing at around 1.2-1.25TH daily he says.

hi toothpick, I'm pretty sure they started shipping batch 2 sierras already.

My PCI-E Cable from the baby jet upgrade got fried/melted. I'm guessing the Seasonic 1000W for the baby jet and the upgrade isn't enough power, will probably need 1200. Guy selling one used for $280 but good condition. Hope it's not busted

Rosewill pretty good?

So, the cable connecting into the power supply for my baby jet upgrade got fried into mush at the power supply slot. Glad no fire started, the machine just shut off. No idea why this happened, maybe the radiator got really hot and affected the cable that was resting on it? The other chip is still hashing from the original power supply slot #1, but slot #2 is fried. I'd like to leave the one chip hashing as is, with the defunct power supply (one side still works). But, for the upgrade, can I just buy a new power supply and run it outside of the casing box along with the radiator/fan cooling assembly out in the open? Or does it require some of that interior casing ventilation? Much appreciated.

Awesome, because with a Cointerra TerraMiner, it's like being in an airplane hangar.

P.S. I just received an e-mail that they are gonna send out shipping confirmation for tomorrow. Batch #2.

1) Is the Sierra pretty loud? Can it  be left running in the guest room with the door closed without bothering anyone in the rest of a condo? If a guest is over and is to sleep in the guest room, is that thing gonna be too loud for him? How loud, a hair dryer, an airplane, in the middle, or better?

2) Do I really have to prepare myself to doing the paper clip trick for the power supply? Any great resources for that?

Thank you dear honorable Sierra owners.
pretty unobtrusive when behind a door/wall.

Behind a door/wall - no problem. What if there is a guest in the bedroom where the Sierra is, is it gonna be bothersome for the guest no matter how cool the temperature is? Thanks.

Is there a way to make Nxt more anonymous? Or is it built-in? I see in the explorer you can see all the transactions... Jw

Looks good. What happens in d evemt of a hardware failure, how do u get btc/key out?

I believe you have a seed (32 random words or something) that you can write down on paper or paperwallet print and you'll be able to recover it.
72  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My new TREZOR on: April 03, 2014, 08:25:08 AM
I could not find the cost of it mentioned anywhere on bitcointrezor.com. Can someone please point out what I am missing ?

I'm pretty sure they're sold out. I REALLY would like to know if they'll have the "First Edition" engraved on the back as older pictures show.
73  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My new TREZOR on: April 03, 2014, 02:07:34 AM
I would have ordered one if it was affordable. But a price of $480 means almost 10% of my BTC holdings. I would wait for some more time till the price is reduced. Or may be I will be able to obtain an used device in the near future.

Does it have the "First Edition" engraving on the back!? It must! I hope.

Putting this out on the market next month and need it sold by October 1st.

I'm no longer doing the exchange rate risk, just direct BTC at the Bitstamp price. Looking to get 770 BTC (assuming a Bitstamp price of $500 each).

What's the purpose of this?

Is it possible that fan just broke? The fan is attached to that cooling block and radiator sitting on the chip. Can I just unscrew the fan part and replace it with just some fan at Best Buy? Or do I need to replace the whole thing? It makes this high-pitched ticking noise when I put my ear close to it. The radiator was pretty dusty.

The radiator gets really hot, but the fans just don't spin.
76  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: April 01, 2014, 06:49:49 PM
I'm batch 1 as well, so maybe I'll get my upgrade module too in the near future (not that it would really matter though).

If your cooler head on the chips is orientated in the same direction like the original (in the picture you see it rotated by 90°), it could well be, that the 2nd radiator is to be mounted at the bottom, as you obviously did.
In that case, the houseing should probably be lying on the side, to get the hot air out efficiently.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear you haven't gotten yours yet. This one was paid in BTC not sure if you did or not but maybe that had an effect.
Yes, it looks like the radiator would be mounted to the bottom as I did. Here's my set up:

here's my set-up before mounting the radiator:

So, I guess I did it right - placed in the bottom. But, I wasn't aware that I need to put the baby jet on its side. That makes sense. Thanks!

Problem is now, the radiator stopped working, I don't know if it overheated or something. You think it's dead? Or maybe turn it off for awhile, let it cool, and try again? Any way to "reset" it?

P.S. (The chips is oriented 180 degrees).
77  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: April 01, 2014, 06:16:37 PM
The last time I saw that, it was supposed to be mounted like this:

Is this the same you received? Double fans on the cooler?

May I ask when you ordered/paid?

I only got one fan/radiator with the upgrade. And I believe there's another fan with the original golden nonce. Damn, I guess I did it wrong. Damn instructions said bottom. I'm from Batch 1, real early. Pm me if you want to know specifics.
78  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: April 01, 2014, 05:45:51 PM
P.S. For those that installed the upgrade fan, did you screw in the fan facing downwards towards the floor (if standing up), so that the air is blowing outwards at the ground?

I thought that in the upgrade kit, the new water cooler fans were supposed to replace the front panel facing fans?

Upgrade kit?  What upgrade kit?  I haven't seen one here.

I don't know where you heard that. The instructions that came with the Baby Jet Upgrade said:

"2.       Mount radiator/fan with the 4 screws provided (I typically use the bottom, middle 12cm fan location)"

I used the bottom, and the way it was arranged, the only way to put it in the bottom was so the radiator grills faced upwards (inside the case) and then spinning fan facing downwards, thus gushing air out through the bottom.
