While at the Token Summit in New York back in May, co-founders Jeff Garzik and Zee Zheng found some time to answer a few of the questions from the community. This Ask-Me-Anything session covered everything from Bitcoin and Ethereum integration, updates on Github, SpaceChain Cubesats, the future of space economy, tokenomics and many more! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WReDhhewMnY&t=2s

Former Director-General of ESA Jean Jacques Dordain (pictured second to the right) said that “defense will no longer be the main driver for space activities.” New players are bringing changes in the space ecosystem. And #satellite-based systems will provide unmatched opportunities for various sectors to grow exponentially such as travel, service and agriculture. One thing is clear and that is the future of #space is commercial.

Terrestrial network systems are prone to interceptions. Establishing a true decentralized network is only possible in outer space. When coupled with blockchain technology, that makes it virtually (pun intended) safe from any threats originating from the ground.
|
|
|
Blockchain technology would equip spacecrafts with the capability of circumventing threats in deep space and thus be able to do more tasks, give more data and allow more time for information analysis. As we build the world’s first open-source satellite network, we hope to achieve a fully decentralized network that runs on #blockchain nodes that will be used for data processing, transmission, in-space data storage and application development.

WHAT'S NEW? This week, we ran a couple of things in getting our community involved by getting us listed on Bitfinex and by rewarding 10,000 SPC tokens to the winner of our SpaceChain Sticker Design contest. Plus, the SpaceChain node gets an improved encryption key generation software while a multi-signature document design is in the works. https://spacechain.com/spacechain-weekly-report-june-3-to-9/

Bringing blockchain to space will give a whole new meaning to decentralization where non-terrestrial networks will be completely out of control from any governmental or enterprising entity. Watch as CEO Zee Zheng discusses the revolutionary nature of SpaceChain with investor and advisor to the project Tim Draper! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH7_PQnTDRY

Vote for SpaceChain to get listed on Bitfinex! How It Works? You will need EVT to vote. To do so, you may send your wallets and vote over at: https://nectar.community/token-leaderboardWhat If I Don’t Have EVT? Fret not! Follow these steps so you can get going with the voting: 1. NEC holders have already been airdropped with EVT (this EVT is per round and decreases in value during the week to incentivise early voting; starts at 2x) 2. Community members who do not own NEC can buy EVT instead on the open Ethfinex market https://www.ethfinex.com/t/EVT:USD— — There are three winners per round. Let’s make SPC one of them! Voting ends on June 11.

Going back where it all began! SpaceChain Founder Zee Zheng gives us a peek of his alma mater Draper University in Silicon Valley. Tim Draper, the school founder, has been instrumental in fostering entrepreneurial spirit in Zee. And this has led to a good and lasting working and personal relationship between these trailblazers! https://www.facebook.com/spacechainfound/videos/366132590677873/I follow the project for a long time and see that the guys do not give up and develop. Now is the time to enter the market, because the cryptocurrency in General will soon grow Thanks for the confidence! We are doing what we can to make our vision a reality. We are working really hard and we appreciate your support!

Well, it's unique for me to see a developer which is not really looking for users, but they were looking for more improvements and developments to the project, kind of a great project.
Thanks for your comment. Yes we need to improve and further develop the project at this point of time as we are both a space and blockchain company. The space industry has been non-open-source for decades and mainly ran by government agencies. Promoting open source technology and international collaboration in the space industry has been quite challenging. Also, initially, we aimed to build a software + hardware space-based infrastructure to support Dapps to run on our satellite platform. However, Dapps themselves at this moment is still not very functional nor have they been widely adopted. Therefore, while waiting for the industry to mature, we focus more on our technology, partnerships, developments, and evangelizing blockchain technology to the space industry.
