61  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Upbit hack ...going to Huobi Korea! on: November 28, 2019, 05:53:14 PM
When i saw the title of this thread, i was eager to comment until i saw it was just a post to promote another exchange platform. Nonetheless,  i would like to suggests that exchanges begin to adopt the use of cold wallet and only leave a very tiny amount of funds in hot wallet. Some might argue that this will lead to slow withdrawal process but permit me to ask. Is it not better to have a nearly 100% safe exchange that has slow withdrawal process than have fast withdrawal process with users funds at risk?

Call it scam, rigged or cheat, the bottomline is that an individual has been defrauded and made unhappy. Most persons that fall victim of these act often fail to carry out their own due diligence before involving themselves. If due diligence is done, an individual will often find red flags on a platform that isn't legit.

65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Do you think the Bounty program is over? on: November 13, 2019, 07:02:21 PM
I don't think the Bounty program is over.
Of course, the ICO market has died a lot, but I think the Bounty program will continue until a new marketing plan is released.
Or if there is a new marketing plan that I don't know about, please let me know.

Bounty and airdrops are one of the most potent method of advert as far as blockchain technology is concerned and also cost effective for the projects involved. Although ICOs are no longer promising as before, already established projects that requires more exposure also take the direction of organising bounties for the much needed awareness. Whether it be for ICO marketing or an already established project, I believe bounties will remain one of the most effective ways of publicity and will therefore remain.
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: From Buying Pizza To Buying A Condo in Manhattan. Bitcoin is Fast Evolving on: November 13, 2019, 08:19:01 AM
Real estate tycoon Ben Shaoul has sold a retail condo in Manhattan’s prestigious Upper East Side for $15.3 million in Bitcoin (BTC). The news was reported by New York real estate magazine The Real Deal on Nov. 1.

Shaoul — who is president of the Magnum Real Estate Group — sold the 11,400-square-foot property to a Taiwan-based entity “Affluent International LCC,” according to a person familiar with the deal.

This is a welcome development and a huge stepping stone in bringing massive adoption of the use of bitcoin and other related cryptocurrencies into mainstream of the worlds economy in terms of carrying out daily transactions. This also further buttress the fact that cryptocurrencies can be used to carryout numerous legit businesses within any sector of the worlds economy. Intact BTC is here to stay as a means of exchange.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that cryptos such as Bitcoin would be mainstream? on: November 13, 2019, 07:10:35 AM
I was just wondering if one day it would be possible for cryptos such as Bitcoin (BTC) OR Ethereum (ETC) to become mainstream one day for people to use for day to day transactions on a daily basis. Because I heard that the people in Zimbabwe with their economic difficulties use cryptocurrencies as a means of trade.

Would the world adopt cryptocurrency as a means of transaction, what do you guys think?

With the massive spread and acceptance of technology in our world today, I would say it is very possible for cryptocurrency to be mainstream. Although we can't expect this to happen in the nearest future as it will require more awareness, adoption by Government and corporate bodies for this to happen. Let's take my country for example. In Nigeria a large bulk of the population even amongst the educated folks, are yet to hear the term blockchain and cryptocurrencies hence massive awareness would be required for the populace to adopt the use of cryptocurrencies into mainstream.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sold my house for buying altcoins need your help on: November 12, 2019, 10:51:40 PM
this is my current investments. do u have any suggestion

20k$ = BNB
20k$ = ADA
20k$ = EOS
20k$ = XEM
20k$ = NEO
10k$ = XRP

Although discisions are personal , but permit me to say that you made a wrong decision in this regard. Selling your house, a real assets to invest in projects that are not 100% guaranteed in terms of positive ROI is ridiculous. Did you even put into consideration what would happen to you health wise if this goes south?. Never sell such assets just for the sake of investing in crypto, it is a bad gamble
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you waste your time for 5 cents worth of bitcoin? on: November 12, 2019, 06:24:52 PM
I am doing market research for a potential project.
If there was a website you could go to daily where you would earn anywhere from 1 cent - 10 cents worth of bitcoin just for clicking a button, would you do it?
No strings attached, no deposit required. You go to the website, push a button and 5 cents is deposited into your wallet. Would you go every day and do it, or is it not worth your time?

If there are no strings attached just as you have said, I think it will be worth my time as long as I am not required to enter in sensitive details that can lead to bridge in my funds security. For Bitcoin, its always worth my time and energy as long as it is legit. I will  visit that website and get my cool 5 cents daily
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Looking to Spend $2 Billion on Blockchain by 2023 on: November 12, 2019, 06:33:05 AM

China, the country that has recently jumped hard onto the blockchain train, will spend over $2 billion on blockchain technology come 2023.

According to a report from the International Data Corporation (IDC), a global market intelligence firm, the country will see an estimated increase of 65.7% in “annual growth rate” from 2018 to 2023.

Here is the source link for the news

I would honestly say that since China censors anything that is anti-blockchain, this is a very good sign that they would finally adopt the blockchain technology in their country. Not only that, they removed cryptocurrency mining from the list of banned industries in the country.

What would be your thoughts about China spending $2 billion on blockchain in 4 years from now? What would be the possible effect in the cryptocurrency market?

Let me know your honest thoughts, comments or feedback about this one. Thanks in advance!
From the day the news on china president stand on blockchain broke out, according to https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.coindesk.com/president-xi-says-china-should-seize-opportunity-to-adopt-blockchain%3famp a renewed hope for mass blockchain adoption was born. With China taking a lead role in exploring the opportunities inherent in blockchain tech, more and more countries will definitely follow and this will no doubt mark the beginning of mass adoption we have been expecting.
71  Economy / Speculation / Re: What Could Make Bitcoin Drop To $5? on: November 10, 2019, 05:46:00 AM
In my own opinion, this is one of the many scenerio where I will say the law of never say never do not hold as the likelihood of seeing bitcoin fall to 5$ is not feasible. Reasons are due to the fact that, on a daily basis the adoption of bitcoin and its underlying blockchain tech is increasing on a daily basis and more and more person, establishments and even nations of the world are keying into the use of blockchain tech and crypto. Bitcoin for me is here to stay .
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CMC and coingecko on: November 09, 2019, 08:03:37 AM
CMC and coingecko both very useful for us, i used to use both however i am confused why many coins and tokens not listing in CMC but listing in coingecko, not only coins and tokens but also many exchanges, is this because coingecko become more popular than CMC, or for something else.

CMC remains the most popular crypto price tracking website. The reason coingecko happens to have more coins, tokens and exchange when compared to CMC is because of the criteria needed to get listed on CMC. For example, CMC requires a project to be listed on more than one exchange with real liquidity before being considered for listing. Coingecko, has taken off those unnecessary bottlenecks thereby making it easier for projects to get listed on coingecko. Both CMC and coingecko are very reliable when tracking price of  coins and tokens. For me both are of same calibre.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if Ethereum replaces Bitcoin someday? on: November 09, 2019, 06:38:19 AM
Bitcoin although has remained as just a store of value as far as its use case is concerned, I doubt it can ever be replaced by any other cryptocurrency in the near future in terms of its position in coin marketcap ranking and even usage as a means of exchange in our daily lives. Even in terms of adoption, Bitcoin is in a lead roll despite the advancement of other blockchain project in terms of technological approach. Taking over bitcoin might happen but it will not happen soon.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a new process to reject more user from getting tokens? on: November 09, 2019, 05:54:51 AM
I know more experience members are here than me who have information. Is TEMTUM project legit to everyone? I participated a campaign that name is "Temtum" managed "Hhampuz". I worked 1.5 months then waited for 2.5 months (78 days) for get my rewards. I knew that I have to submit my KYC but for KYC they gave me only 4 days and I missed it. Now I banned from telegram group for asking my rewards. Without any tokens!!😭😭😭
It is always better to speak the whole truth when trying to explain your ordeal in public. Engaging in lies helps no one and can never bring to you the required solution. Temtum announced kyc modalities and left the process opened for over one month. Forms where also released twice for participants to fill in their details. As at Aug 11 2019 temtum rolled out details for kyc. Here is the link to the kyc details on coinall and shuftipro : https://t.me/temtumcommunity/17960 . The problem with most hunters is that they fail to follow news after a bounty ends and only come back to complain if they miss their reward. My friend, please you have yourself to blame in this matter as the Temtum team where transparent enough in this process as the kyc process was opened for more than one month.
75  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multbit Hardware + Trezor Java API on: January 17, 2016, 09:10:12 PM
Hi BakSAj,

MultiBit Hardware developer here. This kind of problem is best dealt with as a support issue on the GitHub repo for MultiBit Hardware.

I've made an issue for you here: https://github.com/bitcoin-solutions/multibit-hardware/issues/20 and have appended some notes to get to the bottom of the problem.

Kind regards,

Gary
76  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit HD decide to not connect anymore on: August 09, 2015, 11:13:56 AM
It was working fine yesterday. Now i tried in safe mode, checked with no firewall, still doesnt work. I added port 8333 and it is properly opened, but that doesn't fix it.

Whats up with MultiBit HD suddenly no longer connecting?

"java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect"

For these kinds of problems it's best to post in the issue database and continue updates there. It's much easier for us to work with and provides better search options for people with similar issues looking for a solution later.

Here's the link to the related issue: https://github.com/bitcoin-solutions/multibit-hd/issues/697

By the way can we have Currency Ticker back on one of your next builds it is very useful at least I find it so!

Thanks for the feedback.

I've added your suggestion as an issue under Discussion here: https://github.com/bitcoin-solutions/multibit-hd/issues/630

78  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit HD 0.0.8beta released on: April 30, 2015, 02:04:44 PM
I was having trouble sending btc from my trezor yesterday.  Using this.

I'm on Win 7 64bit.  Was using HD 0.0.7 before.  I downloaded and upgraded to 0.0.8.  I have the latest firmware from mytrezor.com.

It connects to the Trezor and shows tx history fine.  It just doesn't seem to want to send.  When I send it stops at the screen on the app which says please confirm.  The app is still fine and is responsive.  I.e. I can cancel at this point.

On the trezor it's stuck at "signing transaction" but the gears aren't turning.  It seems to be frozen also.  Have to pull the usb cable out to get it off the screen.

I was able to complete the transaction using mytrezor.com, but I really prefer multibit as it's true spv and independent of a central server.

Any thoughts?

Hi spin,

Thanks for reporting this issue. I wrote the MultiBit Hardware/hid4java libraries which handle the communications between MultiBit HD and Trezor.

It sounds like there might be a comms problem that occurred. Did you visit mytrezor.com while having an unlocked Trezor wallet?

These kind of problems are very difficult to debug without logs, so would you be willing to upload your logs to MultiBit.org for analysis?

In Release 0.1 (coming soon) we will have a built-in encrypted error reporting system, but for now we have to do it manually. Here are the steps:

1. Visit https://multibit.org and follow the links under the "Verify" section to get Jim's public GPG key. You should see http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?search=0x79F7C572 and click the link on 0x79F7C572)
2. Use Save As and name the file "multibit-key.asc".
3. Locate the log file covering the day when the problem occurred (see C:\Users\user.name\AppData\Roaming\MultiBitHD\logs on Windows)
4. ZIP the log file(s) up and copy it/them to where you put Jim's key as "error-report.zip"
5. Install GPG if you don't already have it (see https://www.gnupg.org/download/)
6. Encrypt the ZIP for MultiBit.org as follows

gpg --import multibit-key.asc
gpg --recipient jim618@fastmail.co.uk --encrypt error-report.zip

7. Send the report to Jim and he'll arrange for it to be forwarded to me
8. I'll post an update here containing a link to our issue database or a better analysis of the problem

Kind regards,

Gary
79  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit HD 0.0.6beta released - improved Trezor support and installer on: February 13, 2015, 02:41:31 PM
When loading the wallet with trezor "Encode value of this key" message is kind of confusing.  Huh

I agree. However we have to mimic the display that is showing on the Trezor device itself so we're limited. We have put a more descriptive message above the display to try to explain what is going on.
80  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit HD 0.0.6beta released - improved Trezor support and installer on: February 13, 2015, 02:40:08 PM
My notes so far:

-in the wizard it doesn't show trezor unless it's plugged in first -perhaps a warning to plug it in?
-when multibit is opened it asks for a password -it's not obvious that the trezor should be plugged in

Does multibit allow restoring trezor seeds somehow? Or updating firmware?

Is an extra key put on the trezor for encrypting the backup and unlocking the wallet contacts/history or does it use some type of private key signing?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to address your concerns as best I can.

The Trezor capabilities only activate when a Trezor is plugged in. We felt that most folks would not want to be concerned with Trezor info if they didn't own one and that those who did would just attach it at some point. Also the password screen is quite crowded already and having a "Please attach your Trezor now" message would only be useful the first time.

We deliberately stay away from firmware updates because that is really the purview of SatoshiLabs and if something goes wrong during the process then we would rather they handle those situations with their expertise.

Loading a wallet with a seed phrase is possible for us to support (we provide command line tools in the MultiBit Hardware project for our own purposes), but this breaks the security model. Once a seed phrase is exposed to a desktop machine it is susceptible to malware which is the whole reason for our Trezor support.

Of course it is possible to go from a "hard" wallet (Trezor) to a "soft" wallet (seed known to desktop). This is necessary in case the Trezor is lost, stolen or damaged. But to go the other way would introduce a false sense of security. Rather than continue using a possibly compromised seed phrase it is better to simply create a fresh "hard" wallet on the Trezor and generate a fresh receive address. Then type the old seed phrase in to create the "soft" wallet, wait for synchronization to complete, then use the Empty Wallet tool to spend all funds to the new "hard" wallet.

The local wallets are encrypted using symmetric encryption from the Trezor device. This encryption is based on the private key of the seed phrase and therefore requires the Trezor to be physically present to unlock the wallet. In this manner you can safely use a MultiBit HD installation on another desktop machine and after you exit the wallet the data is encrypted such that no-one else can access it without a Trezor device loaded with your seed phrase.
