61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A coin for chocolate industry , Is it a sustainable ICO ? on: February 03, 2018, 03:22:35 AM
Cocoa and chocolate industry   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2871985.new#new has joined the ICO bandwagon . ICO has really brought all products and services to the blockchain technology. Banking, Eneregy, Farming and anything one can imagine in our daily live is been brought into online. Now we have cocoa harvesting also on blockchain to advance the production of chocolates and cocoa products.

Why would you need blockchain for this.. doesn't seem legit to me

Not all projects need blockahin, most of them are just trying to raise money for their project but don't really need blockchain for their projects
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocoin Portfolio tracking on: February 03, 2018, 03:20:21 AM
Is there any free/paid site/services that offers a complete cryptocoin tracking with current price, current profit in USD/BTC and in percentage to investment while user enters the coin, the amount and date?

Yes I use Blockfolio App on my phone.. very handy.

Or you can use cryptocompare for desktop:

https://www.cryptocompare.com/portfolio/

And they are both free

64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to know if an ico is serious or not? on: January 30, 2018, 06:43:45 AM
Serious ICO will have:

-product
-visible team
-clear roadmap
-alpha or MVP

Non serious ICO won't have any of these things all they will have is a WP and promises. Don't fall for that, most of these people won't follow through I would rather them have the stuff above before I look any further.

Along with having these things, you should also look into the content of the roadmap and goals of the project. Simply having these does not mean that the project would be a success immediately because some scam or ghost ICOs may conjure ghost roadmaps or dev teams. You should also check whether these are achievable or feasible. Some may have nice ideas, but in reality, may never actually realize because it is too bizarre or exaggerated.

Agreed, but I would also look at the website and the project and check if it looks professionally. If it looks like it has been made over a day, then it doesn't look like the team put any effort in it
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins Symbols limitations on: January 29, 2018, 05:17:09 AM
It's just the abbreviation or a ticker symbol used for identification on the markets. Technically there are no limitations, but what would be the point of them being long? Imagine US dollar with abbreviation USdoll..... If you look at the list of all coins on coinmarketcap, some of the even have 5 letters. That is maybe already too long.

If any of those coins would have been currencies (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currency) as well, then they would also have an ISO code (for dollar it is USD) which is a standard (norm) and since it is a standard it defines exactly how the code can look like - in this case it is to be comprised of three letters (at least I think).

So basically there is no standard norm for crypto currency yet so they can have as many symbols as they want.. got it, thanks!
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do when you are over 50% lose on your trades? on: January 27, 2018, 07:43:42 AM
On 10th I bought these coins...

QLC             665.39235960        spent 0.04669735 BTC now value 0.02208817
DBC           3489.01913490        spent 0.11399558 BTC    now value 0.04789097
UTK             999.14623990          spent 0.07351075 BTC now value 0.04367548
TRX         11704.11100000        spent  0.11480700 BTC now value 0.07415842
VTC              43.46405229          spent 0.01995629 BTC now value 0.01713204
MUSIC      6321.99316783          spent 0.04531524 BTC now value 0.02180519

If you notice in all these coins I am in HUGE lose. I am holding this of course. Coz I would never sell my coins in lose. I did in past but learnt my lessons.

How do you handle when you are in my situation.

Go to work and forget about your investments for 2 months. After 2-3 months come back and if you are still in a loss then you can start to worry
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Coins Symbols limitations on: January 27, 2018, 07:21:26 AM
Is there any limitation to the amount of symbols of coins? E.G. most of them have 3 but some of them 4. Can there be 5 and 6?

Does it depend if they are ERC20 or something else?
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt Investment for 1 year on: January 22, 2018, 04:51:20 AM
What are some of the alts that you feel can give high profits like 100x in a year, by the end of 2018.

Do Golem, Nem, DGB, Siacoin have that potential in them?

What will be your picks for a year long investment?

I like GNT Nem and SC too.. I think they have big potential for long term.. ICOs are also good if you buy with big discounts and sales
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is BitConnect a good investment? on: January 22, 2018, 04:43:25 AM
Does anyone know how to withdraw the funds from the bitconnect? It says capital released but there is no button to withdraw it.. only BCC or BTC
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IOTA - Thousands of Wallets Compromised and Funds Stolen on: January 22, 2018, 04:41:46 AM
If you bought IOTA, check your wallet. Chances are high that it is empty now.

Don't believe me? Open it and find out yourself that all your funds have been stolen.

How so? People were told to use online seed generators. Yes, a seed, online. Not from the wallet itself, no password, not protection at all. And one clever chap collected all the generated seeds and just cashed in.

What can you do? If it is still "Pending" then check out this posting from the official IOTA forum. If it says confirmed as it does for me, funds are gone.

https://forum.helloiota.com/9100/To-everyone-posting-with-stolen-balances

IOTA tries to blame people now for using the online seed generators. I think the party to blame is IOTA itself, for not putting a seed generator in their light wallet, and for not password protecting it.

This actually calls for class action as thousands of accounts were compromised!

(my x-post from Steemit)

why would you use online generators? That's not secure... much better to make your own seed, not that difficult
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Telegram plans to run an ICO on: January 22, 2018, 04:23:18 AM
Telegram ICO will be a huge. But there is a rumor, that minimum investment is $25mln. on presale. So, probably, it will be hard to collect such a big money.

But not confirmed yet?
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top 2 altcoins to invest in NOW. on: January 22, 2018, 04:22:02 AM
ETH and Monero are both great projects so would invest there

75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying my coffee with cryptos! on: January 22, 2018, 03:23:03 AM
Letīs say I want to open a coffee shop where you can buy your coffee ONLY with cryptos.

Which coin would you use for this case?  I would choose XRB, because it is very fast and there are no fees!

Please tell me your suggestions.

Stellar Lumens! Faster than ripple and 0.1XLM transaction fee regardless of amount. Best coin for transaction imo. Also doge is quite good
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: when btc will go 10x in value does this mean my alts go too ? on: January 22, 2018, 03:12:40 AM
that is my question.

No, even if you trade your altcoins for BTC during that time that you will actually get less BTC than if you trade them when it's down.. depends if you are hodling or want to sell them for fiat though
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple releases 333 million more Tokens on: January 22, 2018, 03:11:00 AM
Does anyone actually use Ripple? It's been around for so long, but there doesn't seem to be any community around it, not an eco-system of people using it.

Well the banks are using it between themselves to save some money (and earn money by luring other people to buy XRP)
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: What do you think About Dogecoin? Why a lot People believe doge will up to 1usd? on: January 22, 2018, 03:08:52 AM
I hope it will reach 1$ since I own some but I don't think so.. doge has been raising a lot lately so will probably crash soon
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Token price fall after ICO on: January 22, 2018, 02:52:04 AM
Have there been any tokens where the trading price on exchanges at the very start fell considerably below the ICO price and has not recovered?

there is many coins that the price after listed in the exchange and the price is down
example SONM the ico price around 5k satoshi or more but now at 1.7k satoshi

Maybe the best decision is to buy after ICO!

If everyone buys after ICO, where will investors come from?
ICO will be successful because of the investors.
Calm down even though trading on the stock at the very beginning fell below the price of ICO, after which will definitely recover.
Like Monaco, etc. So have to be patient of course

Most of them will recover. It's normal to see the price goes down after ICO as lot of people invest just for the profit and want to sell after ICO and don't invest because of the project which is a shame...
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Binance safe to store cryptos? on: January 22, 2018, 02:50:30 AM
Hello!

I have about $600 worth of various Cryptos on Binance. I have two-factor Authentication enabled (meaning I have to get a code from the Google Authenticator App on my phone). Is it safe to just store the coins on the exchange? That way it will be easier when I go to sell them and I don't have to keep paying fees for transferring them in and out. I realize that it's not normally advised, but with two-factor authentication enabled, does that change anything?

Thanks!

It's never safe to store your crypto on exchanges however I keep a small amount of crypto on exchanges myself and it has been all good. Just make sure you transfer them when it reaches 1000$+ or money you will be not wiling to loose
