You can buy rolls of filter material at different MERV levels.  I use MERV 4 or lower.

How do you like the Simpli-safe system?  My house is already wired with an alarm service, but i'm looking for something to monitor the windows I had to use has intake/exhaust ventilation.

I'm loving it!!!

Easy to set up.  Uses batteries [therefore wireless].

The base lets you know when the batteries are getting low.

The base uses cellular to communicate with simplisafe if you have them monitor it.

You'll love it if you get it.

Thanks!  Been curious since I've been seeing a ton of social media marketing on it.

Great topic and photos. With all these fans exhausting air, do you not worry about security? I.e not only someone trying to break in to steal your GPUs, but people breaking in thinking its something else (Cannabis farm etc.) ?

ROFL...

The only fan seen at my place is an exhaust.  However, it's in the back of the house facing the back yard which is also fenced in with a 6 feet high fence.  The other fan for intake is underneath the deck and NOT seen while also being in the back yard.  If ANYONE is in my LOCKED fenced in back yard without my permission, they're risking getting shot.

My weapon of choice:  30 caliber that also shoots arrows.  I would prefer to use the arrows on an intruder to keep the noise down from waking up neighbors.  It has one scope for .30 caliber pellets and another scope for arrows.  Two different barrels:  One for .30 caliber pellets and one for arrows.  The barrels simply screw on.

Video (Time stamped to 492 seconds) to show you the difference between this and a bow.  Much more accurate than a bow and it's explained why: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_DsjavaufI&t=492s. There are also other toys at the house ALWAYS on the ready against "would be" intruders.

It also helps having a WIRELESS security system MONITORED by Simpli-safe.  https://simplisafe.com

I have the same WIRELESS alarm attachments for windows and doors placed on the fans on exterior walls.  Meaning, if someone TRIES to pull out or push in an exterior fan to get into the mining room, they set off an alarm just as if they opened a door or window.

My dad's mining room is in his garage and NO WINDOWS.  Hence, the exhaust to the attic.

How do you like the Simpli-safe system?  My house is already wired with an alarm service, but i'm looking for something to monitor the windows I had to use has intake/exhaust ventilation.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][OpenBeta] FirstBlood.io - Come Play!! 1ST Esports Competition Platform on: February 27, 2018, 06:48:28 AM
First of all, I would like to state that I am invested in the Firstblood platform through it's ICO and that I own 1ST tokens.

Let's look briefly at firstblood.io source of funding, as stated on https://www.crunchbase.com/search/funding_rounds/field/organizations/funding_total/firstblood firstblood.io recieved 6.1 millions USD through it's private sale (VC funding round, stated on crunchbase, but I think it was a private sale, correct me if I'm wrong) and 5.5 millions USD through it's ICO. That's 11.6 millions USD total, as you can see on https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/firstblood/#charts, as of now the market cap of circulating supply (some concerned have been raised by a reddior about the actual amount, as it was stated by 1ST team that the tokens kept by the company wouldn't be released until the dApp would be fully released and mass adopted; here is the link to the reddit post; https://www.reddit.com/r/FirstBloodio/comments/7zx149/founder_lockup_transparency/) is 25,113,948 USD, so still above ICO price in term of USD raised, but in term of BTC and ETH, which was raised during the ICO, which EVALUATED MUCH (ETH was around 13 USD, now is 855 USD; BTC was around 600 USD, now is 9660 USD) since the 26th of September, so from historical data from coinmarketcap.com on 28th of september 2016, the 1ST token was worth 0.00025112 BTC and is now worth 0.00003 BTC and went below followed by the Bittrex delisting message on the Bittrex website which is the biggest exchange trading 1ST tokens in term of volume.

Let's take it from there, how did we learn about the 1ST delisting? Through a message directly from Bittrex. No pre-announcement by the team, absolutely no notes or announcements on either the website, discord channel, twitter account, or the dev team blog. Also note, no post or announcements after the delisting from bittrex, members (I am guessing other concerned investors) have tried to reach through the different platform mentioned above to try and talk to the team to wonder what is going on. My feel on firstblood is that so far, it is SOLELY focusing on it's gamer community and absolutely not on it's investors. Great lack of communication concerning financial aspect of the firstblood ecosystem. A dire example of this lack of concern for it's investors, is that the only place where you can basically, talk to the team about concerns, developments, etc. is on their discord channel, and it is strictly forbidden to talk or discuss 1ST token price of any financial aspects, which is in my opinion ridiculous.

We all remember the massive firstblood pump and dump of this summer from June 13th to July 10th, the graph on CMC speaks for itself, when firstblood was paired 1ST/CNY which were subsequently closed due to the china exchange ban. So here is my REAL CONCERN;

Firstblood.io knowing that the chinese government would eventually close its exchange in an undisclosed near future because of Mr. Zhou, who, I think must know finances, being managing partner of a crypto hedge fund; https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/newblock-capital and founder of https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/alt-options-llc and stay on top the news, and even private news from exclusive members group, let 1ST main volume go through from 1ST/CNY and on the chinese exchange ban news all chinese whales that pumped the price hard for a month dumped hard in a very coincidental timely fashion with Mr. Zhou travels in China. Raking in thousands of BTC from investors, volume being 71.8 mln is USD daily volume on the hardest day of the pump, BTC being around 2.2k USD. This is pure extrapolation and hypothesis. But market and price manipulation is very very common in the cryptocurrencies ecosystem. And with the NOTORIOUS Firstblood.io radio silence over anything NOT related to gaming tournaments, additional features to the platform or various partnerships. It is really REALLY concerning. I do not think I am the only concerned investor here. We will await an explanation.

You're totally right that they could care less about their investors.  There is basically zero communication or even marketing when it comes to the project aside from the developers update blog that's not even the easiest to find.  Not to mention, these guys have been around FOREVER and all they have is DOTA2 and upcoming PUBG.  Used to be a top 100 (maybe 50) coin.  Pretty sure this is a done deal for this project.  I dumped everything but still curious how it all plays out.

Why bittrex will be removed firstblood? Is firstblood coin scam?
Where is market firstblood still alive if i send to other exchange?

Second highest volume exchange is Upbit but it’s Korean AND they are partners with Bittrex...

Thanks for the info.

I rarely check this ANN and just happened to tonight.  Lost heaps on this one, but glad I checked this post....  I was waiting for them to release PUBG before dumping my bags.  doh!

FYI - Team seems nonchalant about the delisting.  Here's someone's comments from their team :

"We do not engage 3rd party platforms with regards to our token.
As such, we have not been in communication with the Bittrex team.

We do not have any immediate plan to engage Bittrex with regard to our token."

If your internet connection isn't stable, sometimes a gpu will not have any work to do for a moment.  Even on very stable connections this occasionally hapepns.

Thanks - Probably isn't the case since I'm running several other larger rigs on the same switch with no issues, but I'll keep an eye on it since it could be something goofy with running these rigs through a powerline adapter.

Has anyone seen this issue or have experienced something similar?  The power usage for random cards on the rig will drop drastically at random times.  Hashrate doesn't seem to be affected, so I really haven't done any physical troubleshooting yet, like switching power supplies etc.

This rig has 5x1070ti on a Corsair 1000t PSU and 2x1080TI on a 1500T Corsair.  It will happens to GPUs running on either of the PSUs.  I have a couple other rigs that run EVGA PSUs and have not seen this happen, so i'm wondering if this is something related to Corsair?

No it has nothing to do with your psus.

Also do yourself a favor and drop the 1080tis to 200 for the 215 one and to 210 for the 230 one

Thanks - That's actually something else that's goofy with this rig.  Both 1080tis are the same make/model but one uses more power on the same PL.

Version 0.3.4b. there are more than six months, do you plan the release of a new version of the program, what should be the settings to enable developers to receive payments for the work programme.

Don't think dev is around anymore.  The dev fee is built in unless you use --fee 0.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] dstm's ZCash / Equihash Nvidia Miner v0.6 (Linux / Windows) on: February 19, 2018, 05:52:57 PM
Can someone please explain me one thing.
When I run DSTM or EWBF I have one card that starts ok but then goes down very fast to 1/2 hashrate.
NVIDIA Inspector shows very small (about 30-40%) usage of MCU on that card.
If I run ccminer (any algo) - all is fine, all cards are equal. So it seems to me that this is an equihash issue.
Please check card 1. Sometimes it shows shares like .. That card is totally equal with 7.8.9 GPUs, so it must give 750 h/s

Defective card?

I just added two msi duke cards and with 100% tdp 80% fan they run about 63-64c.  This is in a 6gpu frame with fans blowing on them ambient 20-22c.

Kinda disappointed they run so warm with huge coolers on them.

What do you guys like to see for temps?  Is mid 60s OK for 24/7 use?

Get a box fan or something to help dissipate the hot air
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: February 18, 2018, 07:00:20 AM
I'm trying to get the maximum hash possible which requires higher TDP while at the same time attempting to keep heat down.

If I have to roll back TDP because of heat then I will.  Partly why I'm fishing around for heat figures and what is deemed generally good values to shoot for.
You did mind that your cards will reach their life end way earlier if you run them @100%?

I think people make up a lot of these "theories" or numbers.  These cards are designed to run >70.  Either way, most cards have 3-4 year warranties...
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Tracking P&L on: February 17, 2018, 06:38:42 AM
For those of you that mine and trade, how are you tracking your profits and losses?  Are there any resources or tips that can make life easier on this front?
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: February 16, 2018, 07:11:43 PM
The safest bet is to mine something like zcash.  Difficulty is high and reward is low. 4-5$ per 1080ti.  Zencash may also be a fairly safe bet and be slightly better than zcash for profit.  Both of those may be worth holding long term.  Zcoin is another one that has kinda held on there in the 35-45$ range and not really cratered.  Is it a better project than zencash?  I couldn't tell you.  I do like lyra2z though for power and heat savings.

I'm sure there may be exceptions to this however most other coins you mine are going to be either known scam/trash coins or ones that might be we just don't know yet.  There are probably a few diamonds in the rough but right now they're still buried so to speak.

I sympathize with people that don't really want to mine a "shit" coin and play the constant sell and exchange game all the time.  If you're trying to make a living at doing this though with a lot of equipment running and bills to pay I'm not sure you can avoid that so easily.  For a hobbyist though you can do whatever you want there tends to be less at stake.

Closer to $3/day these days.... Sad

Just switched over from EWBF.  Is there a temp limit option?  I only see an option for "temp-target", but this doesn't look like the same thing unless i'm mistaken.
