So bitladen got me thinking about block rewards.

It might not be a good idea to touch them at all but what if we simply stretched out the block rewards, so basically we half them but they are printed in a way to get to a similar final supply.  We are currently printing about 2,1000,000 Burst per day ~ $300, which coincidentally is a large part of the daily volume of Burst.  So if we were to cut it back, then miners would stop dumping as much, the price of Burst in general would go up.. and they would still be making more than half as much but have a longer period of time during which it is profitable to mine and inflation goes down so investors should be more willing to jump on board.

Agreed?

What is new and happening with Burst in the future anyone care to give me an update?

---
The next update or 2 will be some long overdue extra account security features. There will be the ability to authorize another account to spend from an account with spending limits(amount / time)(allow access to your funds while keeping the account its in cold stored or other ), and accounts will be able to be set up for multisig. The authorized spending backend stuff is all done and has been tested successfully on a testnet, but has no user interface yet. Multisig is still in progress. I haven't decided whether those will be released separate or grouped together.
Afterwards AT interfaces will become a priority, and I also plan to do a bit of block header restructuring some time soon(header only validation cannot currently be done, but could be with some restructuring)
---

Btw, for those complaining about POC2 not going through.. Keep in mind that one of the major motivating factors was faster blockchain download and verification as well as increased efficiency and speed spent mining a block BUT the blockchain header downloading will provide the same advantage.

Any new blog post planned?

If it's ok to come with topic suggestions, I'd like to read more about the ASIC resistance of Burst Wink

Good idea.. was thinking that'd be a good one too.  And yes we've got a few more posts queued up and waiting to be published.  Iron's just still putting the finishing touches on the blog.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: June 15, 2015, 11:27:03 PM
And regarding block rewards keep in mind it isn't only the miners who are affected by prices. In fact I suspect some developers are more likely to buy lots of cheap coins rather than mine them.. so cheap coins may mean more developers. Certainly attracted me.

The only catch is we have to take off and start getting more transactions on the network faster and/or increase in price to keep miners happy and mining.

That being said,  given that hats drives are ASIC proof, I suspect we can still get lots of miners.. Definitely easier than POC.

So personally,  I probably would have slowed down the rate of inflation by about two but I don't think it'll kill the coin by any means.

Ok, this is a suggestion and I hope I wont write about it for the next 20 hours and become rude Wink I thought of that donation you got and, in communication with crowetic, I come to the conclusion that you need a lot more money then 50 BTC. So:

1. Run a traditional crowdfunding campaign. Do not use Burst own platform but one of the established ones. There are many to chose from, and also a bunch of sites of more informative nature (for the latter, see for example http://www.realitycrowdtv.com/blog/news/the-9-stages-to-crowdfunding-success/

2. In the presentation, be supportive of the blockchain technology per se, being one of the centuries biggest innovation that will.

3. Point out one big failure of bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies: energy-waste. There are graphs showing how much electricity POW coins consume and will consume in the future.

4. Presenting Burst, focus on its eco-friendlyness. If possible, also show this by a picture. For nuance, possibly give credit to KNC, how (if I remember correctly) gets their power straight from a waterfall.

5. Create a stand-alone website for the campaign, informative but easily readable.

6. More knowledgeable people will bring up POS as an alternative. Use the regular counter-argument but also highlight Matthew Czarnek's criticism (burstcoin.info/blog/).

7. Do not set the goal too high, maybe $50,000 and call it seed money.

8. Set a number of goals you want to reach by means for the seed money, and be honest about that more funding will be required, either by a new crowdfunding campaign when goals are reached or by venture capital, to really challenge bitcoin.

9. Even if you are asking for a relatively small sum, offer a professional (looking) business plan along with the presentation, where not only the coin is presented and the short-term goals are mentioned but also how each goal will be achieved (and cost), and how that relates to the bigger plan of challenge POW coins energy problem. Some of the goals should be technological and rather simple achievable; other can be hiring someone to design a logo  (see no. 10). There should be hesitation among the devs that they can reach the goals within the time-frame.

10. To get funders feel they are not only is contributing to a risky business, but also give them something back. Ask them to create an account on crowetic's online wallet (simple) and transfer them a few coins, pointing out that these can be really valuable in the future.

11. Consider a fork of Burst with a new name to mirror this promotion. Something with "eco", "environmental" or "save the planet" are names possible. If forking, possibly adjust the valid criticism raised against the coin. A fork do have the advantage that you are not Burst, a year-long mined coin costing 70 satoshi, but generally keep most of the things unchanged and highlight Burst as the innovation you will build on the future on. If you chose this path, a higher sum probably can be asked for.

12. If this does not suit you there is one other alternative, but it is not as straightforward and more related on luck.

Interesting idea.

Is mmmaybe of the PR Team really dead...? He wrote here just the other day. What happened?  Cry

Source: https://twitter.com/real_burstcoin

Unfortunately, the answer is yes. Our dear mmmaybe is no longer with us, taken by cancer.
I have tweeted on that account in his stead.

He has done so much for us all and will be missed as he was a really good man.

Rest in peace my dear friend.

RIP, even if I'm too new to get to know him.

Sorry if it's inappropriate and early to ask, but wasn't mmmaybe a major holder? Perhaps one of the biggest? If that's the case, a lot of coins are no longer with us too. Could that even effect trading?

Yeah.. he'll be missed.

He did indeed own a large number of coins (50 million+). He has donated them toward the development and marketing of Burst.  See here for his last message to the community: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=731923.msg11493918#msg11493918

Doesn't look good here. More like a large dump soon ...
Trying to buy in cheaper?

Russia. Changes in the legislation - with the possible penalties in August 2015:

1. Mining cryptocurrency - penalty from twenty thousand to five hundred thousand rubles ($350 - $9000).
2. Creation a software or distribution software for cryptocurrency - a penalty from thirty thousand to one million rubles ($530 - $18000).
3. Spread information of cryptocurrency - penalty from five thousand to three hundred thousand rubles ($90 - $5300).

Yeah.. they've been threatening for a while now.  Luckily not as many Russians in crypto.

Wonder how well a miner clone coin "Russia coin" would do Smiley

Please go to http://localhost:8125/test to see all existing api. dividendPayment and getAccountAssetCount doesn't seem to exist.

some request need to be done via POST only request (all that need passphrase I think).

Those may be newer than the newest merge with Nxt and not yet integrated into Burst.. think those are fairly new functions.. at least dividend payment totally guessing regarding the other one that it's the same issue.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: June 02, 2015, 04:52:38 AM
I noticed this coin on twitter and Im now invested. What's coming up for this coin. Things I should keep my eye out for.

Standalone wallet coming soon.. which should be really nice. Seems simple enough but we still don't have it yet.

We have plans for instant transactions, super blockchain trimming, maybe a stable coin who's value is still in a sense linked to Burst's value, though we're still arguing over the feasibility of that. Today just came up with an idea for a decentralized business model, which could prove very interesting, something to be thought about.

What features most excite you in a coin?  Customer feedback will likely help determine the direction of development!
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: May 30, 2015, 10:37:49 PM
Hi, some time ago i was interested in Burst, but i figured HDDs are pricy and one would have to buy a lot to get something out of it. Why did they remove PoS?
I was just wondering about that too.

This might explain:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cLFDFqMP0hhD-5kngKCTZfXM6a24yDfhAbwdgL3BAsQ/edit?usp=sharing

I think that is one of our problems.. people don't immediately understand why POC beats POS.

But long story short POC has a lot of advantages over POS.. still almost as energy efficient but fixes some security issues and helps get new people on board via mining giving them "Free" coins, as opposed to POS or POW where you have to spend money to get more than a measly 1 or 2 cents worth of coin that you'll get out of a faucet.  And in reply to AngelLox, per dollar spent on mining equipment, you can still do much better mining Burst that POW.  And likely always will be able to.

Name could be a problem as to why it's undervalue. Maybe we need rebranding with a more appropriate name?
What do you dislike about Burst.. personally I like the name.  We do have a decent number of people invested in domain names and that kind of thing.. though granted if it is something that needs to be done, now is the time.  Do you have suggestions? Hard coin?
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: May 28, 2015, 02:25:47 AM
Then you guys might be happy to know that callmejack had figured out how to turn our current wallet into a standalone exe.

He's done it for Linux and should be easy enough to do for Windows too, current it's the next item on my to do list when I can find some time.

I don't think that was the point you were trying to make but it is a step in the right direction of user friendliness.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: May 27, 2015, 10:46:45 PM
Could it be that one of the reasons why BURST isn't so widely used is because it's NXT based?  Roll Eyes

There definitely was a belief a year or so ago that a fresh code base was worth more than forking other people's code.  How would you deal with that?  Not make mentions of Nxt on the website or in articles/interviews unless directly asked?

One thing that I  think will help is the blog,  it should help attract even more techy people and show people the vision we have for Burst.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: May 27, 2015, 06:06:28 PM
I'be got my own ideas but I want to hear everyone else's thoughts, what projects do you think are most for growing Burst?
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: May 27, 2015, 04:10:33 AM
Someones still buying HDs and increasing the network size? WTF...
maybe it's just someone with spare capacity learning about burst.  in my mind that's more likely

4PB just laying around...

No one is coming to Burst no matter how much you advertise it with the market in it's current condition unless they're already invested in it and they just went balls deep further. Guessing this is a Bitladen thing. If they were 'coming to Burst' they would be buying up Burst, not mining hardware with a ROI.

You're absolutely right... Burst is dead.  You should just go to your nearest exchange and dump everything you have.
 Roll Eyes

Please do!!!  I'd love to get some more for even more ridiculously low prices!

Vote for Burst to be added at Coinomat.com https://coinomat.com/coinvoting.php
Coinomat.com offers bank transfers, withdrawals to Visa/Master card, and custom debit card for all the cryptocurrencies on its platform.
On top of that instant exchanges to all supported cryptocurrencies and e-currencies are available.
Crypto to Fiat liquidity can provide a significant boost to Burst.
more program details here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1053407

Why do you want us to vote to add a coin to your site that you are here promoting? Just add it and get back to us.

Coinomat is definitely pretty awesome.

Would be nice if he would just go ahead and add it,  I'm guessing that he wants to make sure there is interest before putting in that kind of work. He's running a business not a charity and can't just go supporting every coin he sees.. he'said in it to grow his business, not Burst. So I'm sympathetic.

New simple website for burstcoin

http://burstcoin.sk

The site is to add modules to comments, the page contains download wallet and blockchain (torrent).
Alternatively, you can like the Facebook, at the bottom of the page.
Later add additional modules...

Website Burst pool

URL: http://pool.burstcoin.sk [port 8124]
Recipient: BURST-MLTZ-8D6U-VBUH-FS474

Minimum payout is 100 Burst
Pool fee is 1.0%
Transaction fee is 0.5% (or minimum 1 burst as required by the network)
Payment is instant when pool has positive balance
Share value reduction is 50% per block

Looks nice,  you and irontiga may want to work together on may site.

Btw, I haven't done it yet,  could some one make sure he is linking to a known good wallet build and not a virus?
Btw, 'Built on Nxt', you may want to mention the vast improvements.. such as Proof of Capacity.

Bitcointalk is working again!  Based on the lack of stuff going on here.. bet most people don't realize it yet.

Also, I am planning on starting some lessons to teach people how blockchain work and all the techy stuff going on in the background.  Free lessons, I'm asking for 5000 Burst per lessons just so that we can technically say "Sponsored by Burst" and try to use this to advertise Burst and draw in techy people.  I've got two people interested so far, who else would be interested?  Thinking I'll start it next weekend.

Looks nice Kartojal!
