My 741 should be here mon or tue but also managed to get some antminer u3’s Obv they r gonna be used were i get free elec and got them real cheap so thats another 3x 63gh’s that i will add online Now for me its all fun adding the small units like the u3’s but will they help the pool out in any way? Or r they a waste of space 😂 Obv i can resell then and make money so im happy to run then on kano or sell them for profit lol

... I'm open to some feedback on a fun little perk on doubling someone's hash, but unless it's for a 5nd period, it will never get the full benefits. ...
If you mine for 10 hours at 4 TH/s you expect to get rewarded 10 hours at 4 TH/s The 5Nd is only how the reward comes to you to reduce variance ... which is from when you start until 5Nd after you stop i.e. start + 10hrs + 5Nd I still sont have a clue what this 5nd means 5x last something Hm does a miner get for finding a block? Just Curious

im using this as pool 1 stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 im in the uk where do i find the other urls for the other kano.is nodes sorry total noobie lol
Answers in the first post in this thread, best for you is probably de (germany) or nl (netherlands): Mining configuration:Go to https://www.kano.is and register a username to mine with, by clicking on the Register/Reset link at the top right, or mine directly to the pool without registering, using a bitcoin payment address as your username. No password is required, so just use X for your password in your miner, since most miners need you to enter a password. e.g. On your miner setup page, use something like this: +--------------------+-------------------------------------+ + Pool1: | stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 | +--------------------+-------------------------------------+ + Worker: | Kano.worker | +--------------------+-------------------------------------+ + Password: | x + +--------------------+-------------------------------------+
Of course replace 'Kano.worker' with your pool username.worker ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) If you have network issues using port 3333, you can also try: stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:80You can also try any of: stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:81 stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:443 stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:8080There are other nodes located around the world that you may be closer to: stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 (NewYork) stratum+tcp://nl.kano.is:3333 (Netherlands) stratum+tcp://de.kano.is:3333 (Germany) stratum+tcp://jp.kano.is:3333 (Japan) As with the main stratum node, each of those nodes allows mining to port 3333, 80, 81, 443 and 8080 forgot about going back and reading first page lol thanks for that will chang my main one to Netherlands

YAY got some dust btc hahaha didnt expect anything tbh so happy with that (miners been on and off) miners will be on over the weekend till sunday night so lets hope for another quick block quick noobie question do i add these as pool 2 and 3? stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:81 stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:443 stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:8080 thanks want to make sure my miners r always connected to the kano pool No. Those are different ports. It depends where you are at in the world. Ping each one. For East Coast USA use NYA for number 1, Stratum for number 2 and a PPS pool for number 3. im using this as pool 1 stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 im in the uk where do i find the other urls for the other kano.is nodes sorry total noobie lol

So at least for me a light bulb just went off.. I always thought about a block as a progress to completion, as such I always wondered what happened when a pool found a block, and what happened to all of the work that other pools/miners had done, were about to do. Then I found this... "Contrary to popular belief, mining is not something where there is progress. Each hash has the same probability of being a valid block hash. You could get lucky and find a valid hash with your next hash, or you could not. There is no progress that is made. When you mine on a lower difficulty, the target that your hash must be under is much higher than that of the networks. With enough hashes, someone will eventually find a hash that is lower than the network target, and that hash would also be lower than their pool target. The higher target (thus lower difficulty) is only for tracking who is actually doing work and how much work they are doing so that they can be paid appropriately." from here - https://captainaltcoin.com/what-is-pool-mining/So this then solves my problem with what happens when a block is found by another pool. It just an event, and we continue on trying to find another hash that meets the requirements of a *block* My over-simple version: when anyone on the network solves ("finds") the current block, everyone on the network starts on the next one. We haven't been working on the same block for the last 170 hours; it's been 170 hours since we submitted the block-solving hash. good question i have 2-2.2th from 3 miners but i can only run the miners for 10h a day at work so was wondering if its even worth my while mining here

I followed the instructions under the s3 section and putty cant find file on the server that i enter? I even copied and pasted to make sure there was no errors 🤯 putty doesn't find files, it allows you to login to your S3 and type commands ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) There's a list of 7 commands there to execute after you login to your S3, and you simply execute them one after the other. If any command fails you most likely mistyped it. Edit: or there some problem with your access to the kano.is web site ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) just to make sure im not doing anything wrong do i have to download any of the s3 files? i open putty enter ip of miner , connect, enter user and password then cd / then wget http://kano.is/AntS3/cgminer-ants3-4.9.2-94e04f6-3.tgzafter this i get error wget: bad address 'kano.is' im sorry im a total noob lol my s3 is down and i cant mine with it at the moment ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) i can access kano.is just fine That means your miner has no DNS - it can't translate kano.is to an IP address - yep something's wrong at your end! Replace "kano.is" with the IP address (45.63.95.39) and thus do the DNS manually ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Of course, none of this will stop your S3 working. you legend it worked i replaced the kano.is with the ip and boom worked straight away thanks, waiting for reboot and gonna c if theres any difference

ok question as im a total noob last block was found 136h in our pool so now we have a new block to crack are we still on the same block for 136h or can that block be cracked by another mining pool? also since the difficulty level gets higher and higher does this mean older miners like s1/s3 have no chance of cracking a block? hope to have my s1 and s3 back up and running soon , gonna work on them now
