61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is needed for Altcoin to survive long term? on: April 09, 2018, 10:57:22 AM
Many are into digital currencies and are engaged in total availability and market transactions. With the assumption that it’s value will go up in future, how will altcoin survive long term?

While investing in an alt coin, take care of following things:

1) Who are the people behind the coin. For instance, tomorrow if Bill gates comes with a coin, people will buy that coin blindly. So having a reputed name associated with the coin gives free initial promotion.

2) Also see if the coin is offering something unique. For instance, monero became popular because it is more anonymous then other coins and thus its prices have risen.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum now processing more transactions than all cryptocurrencies combined on: April 09, 2018, 10:51:09 AM
Ethereum, the barely two years old digital currency, now processes more transactions than all other digital currencies combined, including bitcoin.

Ethereum currently processes 52.3% of all cryptocurrency transactions, followed by bitcoin at 33%, while Bitcoin Cash, currently third in market cap, is handling only 1.8% as pictured above.

More than half a million transactions were processed yesterday by ethereum, a level that is now becoming common for the platform, rising considerably since early last year when it stood at just 10,000.

More here: http://www.trustnodes.com/2017/11/22/ethereum-now-handles-transactions-digital-currencies-combined

Do you know the reason because of this ? This is because many of the new tokens rely on ETh for that purpose. And do you think that all these tokes will even survive for 2-3 years. If we still see this as a good opportunity, I do not see this being reflected in terms of price growth of ETH.

Also, since bitcoin prices had dropped from $20000 to $7000, this is the time for its to pick up. When we start seeing bull run, all these stats will change in just one month.
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can FUD destroy bitcoin? on: April 09, 2018, 10:43:02 AM
Many of the FUDs circulating about bitcoin seem to indicate the scouring of bitcoin users' trust on bitcoin so bad perceptions of bitcoin, especially for new users and selling bitcoin, which seems deterrent to use bitcoin, will the price of bitcoin be destroyed by FUD, How do you react to it?

I do not think that FUD can have long term effect on the prices of bitcoins. In the past 8 years we have seen news like :

-- Bitcoins is juts a bubble.

---Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme

--- Bitcoin is launched by US government to eliminate huge debt in their country

--- Bitcoin is  being used by criminals and for other illegal activities

Many other similar news has been shown in  media and posted online but bitcoins is still growing strong.

64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what are your main sources of Bitocin/Crypto news? on: April 09, 2018, 10:40:24 AM
what are your main sources of Bitocin/Crypto news?
or wich would you recommend?

youtube, twitter, http, rss, etc

edit: plz specify links. might help me and others, specially newcomers Smiley thanks in advance

Following are my sources for bitcoins news:

1) I had subscribe to popular YouTube channels related to crypto in my country. They are good source of information regarding recent legal laws related to bitcoins, updates being made by popular exchanges in my country and so on.

2) Some of the exchanges I use for trading keep sending notifications per week with latest news and developments related to crypto. Finally, I am active here on this forum as well.

65  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at 2600$, is it possible !!!! on: April 09, 2018, 10:30:56 AM
what we'v seen in the first 3 month of 2018 are huge different from what we'v been expected to see in 2018
so with the last huge movement of bitcoin price what do you think ,
is it possible to see 2600$ again ??

I do not think that this going to happen now. The prices are currently stagnant because of so much negative news about bitcoins. For instance, prices reduced when  companies like Facebook announced that they are going to ban crypto related advertisements. Now all that is old news and prices had already pricked up. At the time of writing this post, bitcoin has shown positive returns for last 24 hours. Anything below $3000 will cause huge panic is this happens.
66  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price drops to $7000. on: April 09, 2018, 10:26:17 AM
Bitcoin price has dropped significantly since beginning of 2018. This is an opportunity to buy bitcoins and sell later as expects project the price to hit $20,000 late this year.

Yes, bitcoin prices are quite lucrative and it is good  time to buy some. I would have purchased some more bitcoins but my budget does not allow this. I had already spent most of my savings  other coins and thus cannot afford to invest more in bitcoins this month.

If the prices remain like this in future months , I may consider withdrawing some of my retirement funds and investing it in bitcoins. It will create ample amount of money anyway till the time I retire.
67  Other / Off-topic / Re: BITCOIN RANKS on: April 09, 2018, 09:25:22 AM
Many of us here are currently on bitcoin for about years ago, Also, there are newbies who are still learning from higher ranks. The merit system now instead of ranking on timely manner, you should post good quality posts to get meritted by others and after acquiring enough merits, you can now rank up. Higher ranks is not just a lucky status where you can earn higher payouts than others in a signature campaigns, Its most probably a prove that you are old here on bitcoin world and you learned and experienced enough almost everything including numerous ups and downs of the bitcoins price. It does not mean that a lower ranks does not have enough skills and knowledge on trading or even choosing the right ICOs. Everyone here is special, and even you are a newbie, dont be afraid to try because even the most successful people lost a hundred times so keep on investing and promoting cryptocurrency.

You are an old member here but still yo have posted this in wrong section. This should have been in meta. It can be tolerated for a new profile but a senior member doing this raises a number of doubts.

Now, coming back to the point you mentioned:

1) Higher rank is not just a lucky status ?

2) It is most probably  prove that you are old on bitcoin world ?

If you keep repeating this two points multiple times, you will realize the contradiction. I am in no way against the merit system but it is reality that some people just got lucky with this. I hope they are dealt in future updates.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin banned in social media? on: April 09, 2018, 09:18:56 AM
is that real or fake news?...
i am confused of what people are disccussing about banning all cryptos and altcoins in social media, how should we know that its real or not...
im scared, because like me this is the way that i participate in bounty campaign, how can i participate those bounties if theres no twitter and facebook update for cryptos..

Some of the websites are going to stop crypto related advertisements but there is nothing called banning crypto on social media websites. People can still make posts, pages or groups related to crypto and share such information with other people.

I think that many new social channels like Telegram are supported because of so many crypto loving people using it. Crypto is here to stay whether these companies allow crypto advertisements or not as many people have adopted this technology.

69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin be used to support terrorists? on: April 09, 2018, 09:11:19 AM
On March 8th, Cheollima Civil Defense(CCD) released a video on its website claiming:” Han Sol, the son of Kim Jong Nam, and two other family members were met quickly and relocated to safety. “ And they receive bitcoin for financial support. http://news.8btc.com/bitcoin-plays-a-role-in-humanitarian-assistance This is something nice to do. But what if bitcoin be used to support some bad organizations, even terrorists? Is this already happening?  What i am worrying is if bitcoin be widely used for bad things, negative news would be all over and bitcoin price will drop. It will lead to tougher regulation. Do u think world leaders are willing to kill btc to make sure they can fight terrirists?

Some questions for you:

Wouldn't they have got money if there was no bitcoins  ?

Was there no terrorism before 9 years when there was no bitcoins ?

Terrorists also use cash and other payment options for transaction. Will you ban all these and start the barter system ?

Just associating bitcoins with negative things to get its prices down is not a cool thing in my opinion. If someone is using it for illegal work, catch and punish that person. Why are you forgetting the good things about bitcoins.
70  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to $50K in 2018?! on: April 09, 2018, 09:05:43 AM
What do you think guys? check out this video and let me know about your opinion
Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HccyO-5YkE

It is just speculation and you should not waste much time on this. Actually, doing a lot of planning in crypto field is just waste of time in my opinion. For instance, the people in Indian who were investing for long term, say 3-4 years and expecting $100000, now have to sell immediately because of the sudden decision of government to ban crypto.

Bitcoin prices are controlled by a number of factors and most of these are not in hands. You can just invest some money and then expect good returns like past year.

71  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal for New Forum Members on: April 08, 2018, 03:01:31 PM
Instead of ranking up into 0 Merit zero coins,

why dont you just come together and create a New Serious Cryptoeconomics & Cryptocapitalist forum, where bitcoin is treated like an insignificant altcoin?

thats a huge opportunity for altcoiners, and for new members, because they you can write the new rules

is there any interested people here for that?

regards

Many people who got punished by the moderators or senior members here would have got similar thoughts. They will feel like starting their own forum so that they can be in complete control.  Once they start researching about the costs, they will realize how hard and costly is to start one.

There are already hundreds of forums related to crypto and they are struggling to get enough members. The total number of members on these forums will be less than those registering here in one day.
72  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: April 08, 2018, 02:55:44 PM

Merit can get from people, but only if their views and the person are the same and they see fit!

Admin has mentioned in OP that you should not give merit to  a person just because you agree to his post.

Here are some of the facts to consider while giving merits:

1) It should be based on how much useful that post is for the forum.

2) If someone has responded to query of a user in very less time, it should be given preference while giving merits.
73  Other / Meta / Re: Merit in my Profile on: April 08, 2018, 02:52:57 PM
What is Merit thing guys? Who knows tell please Smiley

I think it's the way to promote your rank.

Yes, merit is one of the requirements to rank up now. This is in addition to the activity requirement and thus you will still have to complete the desired activity in order to get promoted to next rank.

The purpose of merit system is to reward users who are making quality posts. This will encourage other members to make quality contributions here as well. I suggest you to go through the official post about merit system and also go through the responses. Here is the link for the official thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0
74  Other / Meta / Re: New here! A lot of weird shit... on: April 08, 2018, 02:49:38 PM
Hello Everyone, suboz here!

So i recently bought my first bitcoin and first 10 ethereum when a friend told me about the dip. Seems like a good time to get in the crypto market.  Cool

So after google some bitcoin stuff and trying to learn and I found this website, and it seemed like a match made in heaven!

I wanted some investment tips and also wanted to find a place where there are an assortment of new projects and cool people to talk too, but after making my first post and heading over to bitcoin discussion, I found a lot of trash to be honest...

First thread I found was this - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3040159.0 (Why are you investing in Bitcoin?) and I ready to read a couple hundred cool stories of how people got into BTC but instead basically read 10 mins worth of like bot answers...

Half of the 50 pages where just people saying this in different words

The main reason I invest into bitcoin because I'm sure that someday bitcoin will be used more people, it certainly gives a positive hope for us so with invest now then we will be successful and rich in few years.

So much spam! What's being done about it?

Sorry if i'm too harsh, just really like the forum!

See there is still lot of spam in the forum and you will have to filter all the shit posts to get good information. Here are some effective ways to do this:

1) First of all, if you come across a good post by a user, always check his past posts. It is very much probable that he would have shared similar posts in the past as well. You can also bookmark such an user so as to get good posts from him in future.

2) If you see that some user is posting crap content, report him. If these accounts are removed from the forum, everyone will benefit.
75  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit Review exel file to find cheaters with all clickable links! Weekly update on: April 08, 2018, 02:46:21 PM
Nice to see a member giving so much time to find out merit abusers on this forum. I will go through the information shared in OP and will try to find if some cheater was still  left noticed.

Some of the ways to find alt accounts:

1) Check the writing style of the user. In most of the cases the account farmer will use same writing style in all his alt accounts.

2) Check the last activity of suspicious accounts. Suppose, you find that two accounts might be alt accounts. See the last activity to find any connection.
76  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Enable sending of less than a full sMerit / Gold and Silver merits on: April 08, 2018, 02:42:51 PM
This proposal is not completely mine; it was inspired by a post of another user in the German forum. I am also not sure if it wasn't proposed here already.

I propose to allow to send less than a full sMerit point, for example half a merit, or 0.1 or 0.3 merit points.

The reason: Lower-ranked users have often very few sMerits to give away. But many of them want to participate and say "thank you" to other users even if they wouldn't send them one of their scarce full sMerit points they own. In fact, this is one of the more frequent complaints I read about the Merit system.

So if they could send less than a full merit, lower-ranked forum members could rate other users more often. This could increase the acceptance of the merit system (which I consider a very positive initiative) among this large user group, and make it less "elitist".

Alternative / simpler proposal: In addition to the "full Merit points", create a lower category of merit points - for example "silver merits" that are valid 0.1 full merit points, and full merit points would then become gold merits. That would essentially have the same effect - lower-ranked users would be allowed to participate more frequently in the merit system.

Technically, this shouldn't be a problem. The only possible disadvantage I see is that merits could, in certain circumstances, circulate slower if high-ranked members chose to give away silver merits or fractional merits instead of full merits. That could be prevented if, for example, the sending of fractional/silver merits is restricted to users that have less than e.g. 50 available sMerits.

It is better the current way, allowing merit points in decimal points will cause a lot of confusion. Regarding new users with one merit point, not being able to give merits to other users, this is not a big issues. How hard is it to get two merit points ? Admin could have implemented the system like sending one Smerit to each registered member but this is again something that merit farmers will abuse. They will create multiple accounts to get that one default merit point and spread it to main alt accounts.
77  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Gained from using Sources? on: April 08, 2018, 02:38:51 PM
Good point. Sometimes I'm having dilemma when I want to award users with Merit, especially Newbies and Jr. Members. I see good detailed posts made by these users but I'm not sure that's original content written by these users or it's just copied from somewhere else. I'n too lazy to make research about content of these posts, so usually I avoid to send Merit for these posts.

In this case will it be fine to use report to moderator option so that a moderator checks the suspicious post.

Now coming back to the point raised by OP, I think that if he is mentioning source at bottom, he is not breaking the rule. If one has to choose between a post sourced from another site and a self written post for merit, one should go for later one. There may be some exceptions to this like if someone has found a good resource relevant to the question asked, it can be given some merits.
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10 years and no country has approved Bitcoin ?? on: April 01, 2018, 01:39:32 PM
Bitcoin was launched in 2007. It's 10 years and still no country has approved Bitcoin ??   Huh

Many countries have not even denied about allowing bitcoins. Most of the countries are just silent about bitcoins and the fact is that they cannot control is all. Any sensible leader will not oppose something that is being used by the people of his country to earn good money. It is actually a boon for developing countries.

and in 2018, 2nd richest man "Warren Buffet" said "bitcoin will end up badly"

I respect this person but he might have his own reasons to say this. He is involved with stocks and shares and thus it makes sense for hi to oppose anything that stands as competition to these.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you see bitcoins yourself? on: April 01, 2018, 01:36:25 PM
Now obviously, the tittle says it all. I am just curious on how you guys see bitcoins or the whole thought of cryptos as a whole? Because clearly, all of us have different minds which is why most of the time we have different point of views about different things. Although some may have same opinions or believes on the same thing but it still does not cover everyone. Because some sees bitcoins and other cryptos as a key to ending poverty(which is something I disagree with but totally respect), while some sees it as an asset, others see it as currency, and so much more. I would really love to know how you guys see bitcoins because I think this can be a key to having a glance on what the future of the crypto world will be someday(although this is not for sure, I think it is worth a shot). So please my fellow crypto lovers, share your thoughts Smiley

I have used it mainly as asset only. This is because it is not yet much popular as payment medium in my country. Here people still want to get paid using traditional methods like cash and cheque. People do not even like digital payments like mobile payment transfers. This is because few people have online banking options enabled and thus they like to deal in cash only. I am sure that if you mention bitcoin to small sellers ere, they will have no clue about it.
80  Economy / Speculation / Re: How deep can the bitcoin fall now? on: April 01, 2018, 01:33:54 PM
Hello

its really F*** up right now. i wanted to sell some coins next week now i see the bitcoin lost more theen 1,5k$ in past days without any reason there is no FUD or anything else rigth now but it still go deeper and deeper.

you think the mark of 8-9k$ is soon back?

At the time of writing this post, bitcoin price is about $6669 and I think i can go even down once the decision of Twitter and Google ban is implemented by those companies. However, after some time that is implemented, we will see the prices recovering. In worst case, I do not see it going down the $6000 mark. If it goes below $4000 , it can cause huge panic among the investors. It would also be interesting to see how alt coins behave with such drastic drops.
