Have You considered using R9 280x? Their price seems to be fair aswell.
I considered it already, but there is a difference of around 60€ from the 7950 (and, in this case, the 7970) and the R9 280x, where i live.

Yeah, i know.. the only reason i'm unsure is because it is an XFX 7970.. i heard that they can give a lot of problems, and low hashrate for no reason; i'd like to be sure that it can work at least like a 7950 (the one i have actually goes up to 700kh/s)
67  Other / Beginners & Help / 7950 or 7970 (..from XFX)? on: January 01, 2014, 08:31:35 PM
Hi everyone. I'm going to buy a new graphic card to add to my 7950 to do some altcoin mining and gaming. I was thinking in buying a 7950 Sapphire Dual-X Boost Ed. to match my other GPU that i already have. Then i saw an XFX 7970 Double Dissipation for the same price as the 7950, actually, it's cheaper. What would you guys recommend me to to, go with the 7950 or the XFX 7970? Thanks a lot Smiley

Thanks everyone for your replies. Btw, which other gpu would you recommend me to buy, so that i can add it in my rig without upgrading the psu?
Also, just for curiosity, would an XFX 850W (80+ Bronze) be enough for the R9 280x? Lastly, could the 750w be enough if i remove the overclocks from the gpu and from the cpu?
Bump

71  Other / Beginners & Help / Can i add a R9 280X to my rig? on: December 27, 2013, 09:18:43 PM
Hi everyone. I was thinking in adding another gpu to my rig. I'd like to buy a R9 280X and use it on my rig, which has an OC'ed 3570k @4.0Ghz (core voltage goes from 0.9 to 1.15V), an OC'ed 7950 (actually the card it's undervolted from the stock vddc), 2 3,5" HDDs, 1 SSD, 1 DVD, 6 fans (5 are 120mm and 1 is a 200mm) and a Asus DGX sound card, all this on a XFX 750W (Bronze) PSU.
I checked on the site where you can calculate the wattage of your rig, and it  was 566W even with the R9 280x (if i put everything right on the page): check https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18993865/Screenshot/Screenshot%202013-12-27%2017.28.25.png and https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18993865/Screenshot/Screenshot%202013-12-27%2017.28.28.png, but i'd like to be sure of being able to actually add it.
Since i use my PC as a gaming pc and also as a mining rig (i do gpu mining just 4-5 hours per day btw), do you think that my current PSU should be enough to run another gpu (the r9 280x), and keep doing the same things as i do now? Thanks a lot.

75  Other / Beginners & Help / Minimum withdrawal limit? on: December 18, 2013, 05:53:15 PM
Hi everyone. I just bought 0.02 BTC. In case, in future, i'll want to sell them to USD, where could i do that? I've seen that BTC-e has a high minimum withdrawal limit, so it's pretty useless to me.
Do you know any other site that could let me change my 0.02 BTC to USD and withdraw them to PayPal or on a credit card? Thanks a lot Smiley
76  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Curious about energy costs with 7950 on: December 16, 2013, 11:19:42 AM
I already calculated the profitability, but i just want to know exactly how i'm going to spend for electricity.

Since 7950 is around 200w it will cost you around 6-7$ / month. But you should see the actual wattage on the wall.
In any case i don't think that it will be more than 10$ / month
I see.. Thanks a lot Smiley

78  Other / Beginners & Help / Curious about energy costs with 7950 on: December 15, 2013, 09:35:53 PM
Hi everyone, i would like to know how much i would spend mining altcoins and litecoin using a 7950 with the power set to +20, for about 4 hours a day with around 0,25/0,30$ per kw/h.
Also, would change something if i mine using the gpu, on a rig with an overclocked i5 3570k, speaking of electricity costs? (4.4GHz against the stock 3.4)
Can someone help me? Thanks Smiley

80  Other / Beginners & Help / Various questions about BitCoin & other cryptocurrencies on: December 02, 2013, 11:40:50 AM
Hi everyone Smiley I'm new to this forum, so as everything regarding bitcoin and other cryptocurrency.  I have a gaming rig (i didn't buy it to mine coins, i bought as a gaming pc) with a Sapphire 7950 Dual-X Boost ed (with a XFX 750W PSU. I started mining bitcoins, but then i discovered it wasn't worth it to mine bitcoins. So i switched mining litecoins, for now. Anyway i am not mining 24/7, just 1 or 2 hours a day. That being said, i'm curious about how much you spend when you mine bitcoins approximately, in europe.
Another thing, regarding the hash speed of my cgminer config: i'm mining litecoins on give me coins, and with this config
Quote
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
cgminer.exe  --scrypt -o http://ltc-eu.give-me-coins.com:3333 -u Workername -p pass -g 1 -I 20 -w 256 --gpu-powertune 20 --shaders 1792 --thread-concurrency 24000 --lookup-gap 2
i reach around 590KH/s, around 600Kh/s overclocking the gpu. Can you help me improving the hash speed, if possibile ofc?
Last question: what cryptocurrency (even new) do you think is best for mining, now? And it is possible to convert other currencies like, for example, GrandCoin (or any other less known than bitcoin and litecoin) to Bitcoin?
Thanks a lot Smiley
