It's because of the news out of China. We've seen crashes before it will stabilize around production cost.

How much is the production cost?

well seeing as the cost for equipment to mine has gone up that would mean the value of BTC should be going up.
62  Bitcoin / Mining support / switching pools with bfgminer 3.8 on: December 07, 2013, 05:00:28 AM
ok so I have a few pools set up for diff coins, bet, zet, and ppc.

When I go into the pool management and switch the pool all 5 of my block erupters go into standby with a steady LED. within bfgminer it just spams, stratum from pool 1  requested work update.

Does anyone know how I can switch pools without having to restart my miner?

in regards to the 1.2 TH/s rig, it will be great but when they ship out 10,000 at the same time the diff will go up alot making it not worth while. Atleast not for bitcoins

72  Other / Beginners & Help / a few noob questions on: December 06, 2013, 11:22:35 PM
hey everyone, I have been mining and learning for a few days now. I just recently got 5 block erupters.

I got a usb hub from the person i bought the erupters from but he didn't send the power cord with it... and im not going to pester him about something like that, I have enough usb ports on my computer to run them until I get another hub. How many erupters can I run on an unpowered hub?

Also Im trying to mine beta coins and the diff on my miner is at 15  Huh . im not sure but when i find a share isnt it supposed to count for 15 shares? its only counting as one on the pool. am i right on that part?

and seeing how the US government doesnt care about blowing money they could just as easily build super computers to mine scrypt coins as well.

What if US Government is already mining *coins?

with the supercomputers they have I am sure they are atleast looking into how to control it. If they mine all the coins themselves they control it.

I really wonder what the implications of this would be, i'm sure they wouldn't think twice about doing it. Is there anything at all that can be done to prevent this?

I doubt there is anything that could be done. if you have money and the will power to set up a mining rig you can take over the world!!!!  *cue pinky and the brain theme song*

When I said more secure I meant it as in 6 years in the future ASICS will be mining in Thz and governments/whoever will be able to have Thz mining rigs all combined solving hashes at 1,000,000 GHz. I don't know very much about BTC but this kind of hashing power may be able to take over the network and they would control all coin activity.

If what I say is true than LTC would have a 6 year longer lifespan.

I am not really sure how hashing power effects the BTC network.

and seeing how the US government doesnt care about blowing money they could just as easily build super computers to mine scrypt coins as well.

got a few coins before the massive boost but not many.. .and    the way it is now i wont be able to keep it cost effective or competitive with my gpu anymore.

yea... the diff on this coin quadrupled in one day. last night I was mining at 20-30k diff, now its almost 100k
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Betacoin on: December 05, 2013, 10:59:37 PM
well holy crap! the diff has risen about 50% in the last few hours! Glad I got a few coins in the last day and that i have a few erupters in the mail  Smiley

Things are looking good! I just noticed that the two beta coin pools I use are combining for 1.5-2 Th/s. yup thats right almost 2,000 billion hashs a second! looks good if you ask me.
79  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: USB Block Erupter on: December 04, 2013, 04:42:53 AM
It seems like a lot of people are saying that it is not worth mining BTC atm because it is hard to keep up with the difficulties and the price is so damn high .....

unless you can get mining asics for very cheap with cheap power you might never get a return on investment (ROI). Try farming different coins and hoping they take off. If enough people farm alt coins they will gain value.

Try Beta coin (BET)  Cool
80  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Block erupters absolutely waste of money now? on: December 04, 2013, 04:11:07 AM
Mining is a waste of money now,
dont do it

that's not 100% true. If you mine an Alt coin like say beta coins or something easy and it takes off it might be worth it.

Right now I am mining Beta coins (BET) not worth too much but with one 333 Mhs erupter ive gotten about 5 in 1 day.
