61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Zano on: January 29, 2019, 02:08:48 AM
For a non-technical reader, what are the practical differences between Mimblewimble projects (Grin, Beam) and what Zano brings to the table, especially regarding the main 2 aspects: privacy and blockchain size?
I mean from a users point of view...
Spot on mate. Been waiting for a "tell-me-like-I'm-5yo" delivery of the differences between these MW implementations. Wouldn't mind having it delivered as an infographics or table of comparison. Handy for quick consultation and sharing

I guess team will come with a better answer and more official as well.   But to what i've heard, MW is mostly a layer 2 it can be added to pretty much any other layer 1 tech out there.  So it's not really comparable like 2 different layer 1 projects would be.

I guess the team will come out with a more official statement because this question is asked a lot lately (and with reason).

PoS can not be decentralized and can not be secure. You will never know if an opponent has taken control of all or part of the nodes, all nodes can be compromised or hacked.
There will be no greater security than just the PoW, there will actually be less.

I believe its easier to hack 2 or 3 pools in order to control a network over PoW (and often 1 pool has more than 50% of it, so a single target to hit) than hacking all the nodes of a network.  Pools also run more code than a node so attack surface is greater.

Network can not be controlled "over PoW" by hacking pools, because hashing power is in hands of miners not pools itself. I don't know how a PoS network can be secure and how a PoS based coin can guarantee privacy, because PoS is inherently centralized.
Maybe privacy is not intended for zano?

Not sure how much you have mined, but miners provide power to pools, pool is running the node so it can double spend and do all kind of things with that node, as long as the pow algo is the same miners don't know much about what they really do...

No surprised that everyone is worried about pools that owners near large chunk of bitcoin network...

If a pool double spends it will lose all its miners, so it can not "control a network over PoW"; yes, it can do all kind of things with that node but not with the network. With PoS you will never know if a malicious actor has sabotaged all or part of the nodes. There is not solution to 51% PoW attack because PoW is the only solution to Byzantine Generals Problem.

The cryptocurrency community must accept the risk of 51% PoW attack, unless wishes to renounce decentralization and privacy.

With zano if im not mistaking you would need 51% of hashrate and 51% of all coins to attack it, but dont take my words for it, check with team for confirmation!

Zano? lol I thought it was a fork of Nano or the use of block lattice.

Hmm,seems it's forked from Boolberry.
So Boolberry was fully discarded?

You better do a better work at it, please compare the files between zano and bbr, every single files are different.  Also BBR will be kept updated by them, please read more over it...

I'm a fan of Telegram. I don't like/use Discord. We need an official ann chanel in Telegram only for official announcements, with no replys. Yoy can put it on Discord too, but Telegram is imperative.

Yeah well just do a discord then and sync the #announcements with telegram (readonly)

With the completion of the allmine cryptoshell for the Bittware CVP-13 we will be getting back into bitstream development. We have 3 designs that will be released shortly from community developers, but their profitability is nothing amazing. We will start putting together our Phi2 design which will hopefully be released in the next 1-2 weeks. There is more to come, but I don't want to say what at this time.

Most of the developers don't have a lot of base code to work from. We've offered to open up our code base to them if they'd release through the shell as well as provide BCU-1525 units for completion of designs. Unfortunately, that still hasn't attracted a lot of developer attention. Many of those claiming to be fpga developers on discord have disappeared  Roll Eyes.

Why are people buying these cards? Aren't the only ones who make money the ones who develop their own bitstreams? Feels like eating very expensive leftovers.

Here's a question for you..

There are about 5000 BCU-1525 in the wild, 1000 CVP-13s coming, 500-1000 VCU-1525, BTU9Ps, various clones, etc out there.

How many units would a developer need to own themselves for it to provide the same revenue as a 5% fee from the units that are already out there (which would additionally require no up front capital investment from the developer)? Answer: about 400... Which would cost them > $1.5M.

So, they can make a $1.5M investment and have the same revenue as not making ANY investment but just releasing their code. What would you do? I'm quite sure only an insane person would spend $1.5M to make the same amount of money as not spending $1.5M.

What about private bitstreams? Wouldn't it be more profitable to just release the code?

It depends on how much was over-paid for the private bitstreams, but in most cases, yes, it would be more profitable to just release the code. The person buying the bitstream doesn't know if someone else will invent the same and take their earnings before they've recovered. The developer has to trust the person who bought it won't try to resell it and cut the developer out. The person who buys it isn't sure if the developer will sell it to others.

Seems like a risky proposition all around versus releasing it and being sure they'll get some fee % of the mining.

A lot of what people have been talking about regarding this has been fud. Some is truth or at least based on truth. Obviously larger customers have been trying to acquire 'private bitstreams'; wouldn't you if you were them? But, I'm not sure they fully appreciate the situation of how much they'd have to pay to get that 'privately'. Some are buying 'private' bitstreams that are sold to many of these customers, all of them thinking they're the only one  Roll Eyes.

Without disclosing any details, what could be the largest BCU farm around? 500 BCU's ? less?   500 BCUs would be a huge risk for them to take back then, in the middle of a bear market.

If theres a 500 BCU farm out there, then maybe they would be tempted to buy a private bitstream, but i believe anything smaller than this is probably not worth it...

What do you think?

https://store.mineority.io/

Mineority couldn't make it. Sorry for anyone that signed with them.

Squirrels, FPGA.land, Zetheron will be next. They are all connected.

Anyone that hasn't got their refund for the 1525's, better hurry. They all are probably bleeding out.

Too bad the little guys can't compete with Bitmain, etc. Check out the F1 FPGA miners. Clearly looks like Bitmain.

12 algos to choose from....not waiting on 1 dude to come out with a stream at double the price for a unit.
From the discord most of the BCUs got shipped, so I don't understand that sensence about refunds...

Hmmm. I'm not reading discord.  But they haven't shipped my order from June 7th yet.  Originally supposed to ship in September.  Guess I'm not part of the "most" group.

Just got my 2 BCU's.  Also ordered early in June, but opted for the waterblock version, not realizing what a delay that might cause.  So thank you Senseless, this wasn't a scam, didn't think it ever was.  I am going to say that FPGALand/Mineority/AllMine/Squirrels back and forth got very confusing.  Customers want to deal with one face, one company.

When it got shipped, did you get an email or say "Shipped" on the SQRL dashboard? Just curious...

Nice premine, 10M with pow of 5 per block, will take awhile for pow to reach 10M coins!

https://github.com/Tokemonn/Tokemon/blob/30bba8b9d0f162fa4e60e249b3099776ec5d73c5/src/main.cpp#L967

Good luck with that, you are 5 years too late for these type of launch, its so 2013!
it will actually never reach even 50001 coins, as last pow block is 10000. yes, we wanted to reward miner to keep chain alive until POS start, but this is not a pow designed coin, mostly that people could think that is cheaper to get this coin dumped from the miners,,, they looking for profit, we looking for success for our project, that need exchanges, for example, many other fees for wonderful improvements are surely available, but yes, we need to pay them.

Tokemon Specifications

Name: TOKEMON

There is a 100 million coins premined that as we said above are for sale on 100 satoshi., we know the markets situation and we count with a possible coin burn at the end of the presale. Thank you for your feedback

Will you guys do PoS with premine too? hope not!

Ravencoin's recent price increase is very big, I think BBR is better! I believe that BBR will rise!

You think?  BBR is definitely better than raven, raven would go under radar if it wasn't of those celebrities...

Clint the LMDB version seems to take more time to synchronize with the old version. My took about two days and got stuck in the middle.
What version of Boolberry are you running?
Did you try using --db-sync-mode command-line option to speed-up synchronization as I suggested above?

You guys should download the bootstrap and you would only have a few blocks to sync, its available on the boolberry github.  Thats what ive did and it took my minutes to sync...
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed Since 2014 on: August 28, 2018, 12:54:06 AM
The cryptospace has changed and the market can totally accept masternodes. Boolberry coin have good potential.
There's one thing I absolutely accept about masternodes. We should totally reward those who maintain stable nodes with good uptime and connectivity. But all the masternode schemes I've seen include a large deposit of money. That's the bit that goes completely against all logic and ideals I've known so far.

In general, I pay people for useful services. I don't pay people just because they already have money. In the real world, rich people don't get richer simply by having all that money, but because they use their money sensibly -- for example, on servers and Internet infrastructure.

Moreover, I don't want a world where you need a hefty deposit in order to be a service provider. I'll rather trust a distributed P2P network than an oligarchy of a few rich players. Isn't that why we have cryptocurrencies in the first place? If you want old-time big-money capitalism, you can already do that outside the crypto world.

I mostly agree with what you said, but masternode by themself have nothing wrong, its more about how you become one that is an issue (High collateral in most cases).  I also believe that like DPoS a masternode should be only be reward if it provide a stable and outstanding services...

I believe its 5000 mineority/squirrel/fpgaland group buy.  All sold out and wont be in stock for 6 months I think.
Plus all the bittware cards coming out, numbers unknown.  I think those numbers can be large because I asked for a price for 50 liquid cooled v and they didnt get back to me too quickly Sad

those 5k bcu1525 are being shipped in august...
