'Satoshi' should be a vote option Cheesy

There seems to be an instant hostility against anything questioning Bitcoins usefulness and integrity, even to messengers.

Well you said the article was good. That isn't a messengers job. And to top it off, the article sucks. The guy is commenting on something that he clearly doesn't even understand.

I have instant hostility against ignorance pretending to be insightful.

You seem to believe 'good article' means 'agree with conclusion of article'.

There isn't much about Bitcoin that's not to understand by the way, it's a simple concept, just the coding of it was hard.

That's not really a bullish signal.

Don't be such a wuss, most of us here are to make that quick buck, time the market.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you say to Satoshi Nakamoto on: June 08, 2011, 08:35:44 PM
I'd tell him to sell and he probably is
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Will Collapse First, Bitcoin or the Dollar? on: June 08, 2011, 08:22:37 PM
Then apparently you lack the ability to understand it. It was coherent enough for me.

No you didn't
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm ALL in! on: June 08, 2011, 08:20:20 PM
Well I don't know about US but most hardcore Europe users moved away from torrents to news groups. And that's a fact
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Will Collapse First, Bitcoin or the Dollar? on: June 08, 2011, 08:13:11 PM
That didn't make much sense
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm ALL in! on: June 08, 2011, 08:12:45 PM
The biggest risk to bitcoin comes from the US government, which may criminalize and ban it. In fact I am pretty sure they will do that once it gets into their radar.
However - and I am not joking when I say this - I CAN'T WAIT till it's illegal.  Because once it is, the mainstream will find out about it.. and THAT's when more people will really start using it, and after a brief panic-induced selling from wimps, the price will probably skyrocket.  Even though it wasn't money, that's essentially what happened with Napster, Bit Torrent, the whole p2p movement in general.  Once they make it illegal, that's when people will start using it.

Napster original concept actually totally disappeared and so was defeaten, didnt get stronger like you're saying. Similar to many things like Kazaa, Limewire, etc. They never recovered significantly after all the legal actions taken against them.
Same with Bit Torrent, it's pretty weak compared to its top some years ago. Torrents are long replaced by news groups etc. Thus it has not gotten stronger.

Quite a good article exposing Bitcoin

http://sgtreport.com/2011/06/what-will-collapse-first-bitcoin-or-the-dollar/

Interesting read for those who don't want to be on the losers side at the end of this ride

Bad title since the dollar has already collapsed, since 1913 the dollar has lost more thant 95% of its initital value, now if that isnt a collapse then i don't know what is.

But as silly as the topic is, given its factual record, for the Bitcoin to achieve same level of collapse it will have to trade all the way downto something like 0.0001 $ / BTC

5% of 30$ = 0.0001$ according to your math which would define a collapse of a currency.

Good luck to you

That was Satoshi and me selling some Cheesy

Conspiracy freak BS. Not even worth the time to look for a decent .gif of a cat yawning.

What's your take on the part about the Crime of 1873? Second half of the article.

Don't feed this troll. Don't comment on his crappy blog.

Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 BTC.

This is just a copy of this original blog post anyways: http://dont-tread-on.me/what-will-collapse-first-bitcoin-or-the-dollar/

Even more reason not to comment...

This is not my blog. I'm just linking it to inform.

Japan is a baby state of USA since WW2

If the banks decide to freeze MtGox accounts it will cause the price of Bitcoin to plummet. We're all taking this risk
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Senator Charles Schumer Pushes to Shut Down Online Drug Marketplace on: June 08, 2011, 03:17:25 AM
Governments will interfere with Bitcoin whether we like that or not so keep this in mind we're here to profit from the last person to join while the fun ride is going on.
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Mt. Gox have enough cash on hand to cover massive USD withdrawals? on: June 08, 2011, 02:43:39 AM
Mt.Gox does not buy bitcoin it just facilitates trades between people. Considering how much he is making on the per trade fee, I doubt he would risk that by messing around with the deposits.

MtGox has a Bitcoin Wallet as big as the whole ask volume of the exchange
Vice versa it should have all the cash in a bank account for the bidders.

Infact it's quite possible they will be doing naked short selling at one point in time if they don't get shutdown by gov.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you envision the future use of Bitcoin? on: June 08, 2011, 02:04:36 AM
Very useful for internet transactions.  Also you can put them on a USB stick and transfer them directly.  Right now they are very good place to put your extra money in to protect it from the deflating fiat currencies.  In the future if someone accepts bitcoin I'd probably use that for the transaction over regular cash.

Why would you prefer to use it for internet transactions over a credit card?
Why not just use cash for physical transfer (assuming legal transactions)?

for internet? quicker, easier and safer.  if someone my bitcoin address they can't steal all my bit coins. with a cc, not only could the person i'm buying the product from steal my money, but someone could intercept it on the way too.

for an in person transaction bitcoin can be used like a cc with the rick of someone stealing your money just by looking at your card.  Easier to lug around than cash too and not as obvious as a cc or cash

If someone has already access to your computer by being able to intercept what you fill into forms then copying your wallet.dat file would be even easier to steal. Intercepting while the data is on the link is not possible as there is unhackable encryption.

You are right about the probable fate of Bitcoin being for blackmarket use and other illegal activities.
