Effectively counterparty is slow but at least it decentralized and that's what i appreciate in counterparty.
About all these questions related to exchanges, we don't want to list the token on a "shitex", and the big exchanges are too busy with BCH and the regulations.

I am thinking about making a small exchange for NVST/BTC on the website untill NVO is ready. Will talk about that will Yani and Ton

Nemgum. Instead of redirecting your valuable attention away from developing the NVO Dex, why not just pay the 1 BTC to NovaExchange and have NVST listed quickly without the voting process. Nova is a small exchange but easy to use. At least this way people who want to dump NVST can and the rest of us who want to get more can buy at a better price.

Your thoughts?

According to the Whitepaper, we are suppose to receive 2 types of tokens.
One is NVST which free floating -  Tradeable shares. The other token is NVSX which is fixed at $0.99 for usage.
When are we suppose to receive the NVSX? Please advice.

There are no NVSX coming to your wallet anytime soon. Please re-read the whitepaper to understand what you invested in.
NVSX will only be distributed if and when the exchange becomes operational and exchange fees are collected.

Not bad dispersal but some very large bagholders. If one of them squats over an exchange and takes a big dump price will also go down the shitter with it. What is position on buy support when this thing hits an exchange to stop all noobs and moonmonkey from pooping all over the place?

The difference and it looks like a major one, is that there was no early bird bonus but with signature campaigns and other bounties they normally sell at any price to cash out their reward so some amateurs can panic sell when they see bounties being dumped.

Developers should absorb bounties with buy support so price NEVER goes lower than initial price. Any panic sells below initial price should be bought and considered almost like having a premine so it will return many fold when price eventually rises to the highest points but I would imagine larger holders are counting on the promise of dividends for residual income stream.

Developers have no business absorbing anything to protect token price. This is a free market so price should fluctuate. One person's panic is another one's opportunity to buy in.

My NVST tokens have safely landed in my counterparty wallet from both of my BTC and ETH contributions.

Thank you NVO team!

hi total newb here learning about cryptos!

i tried buying into the crowdsale right before it ended. couldn't find any clear barney style instructions but i think/hope i did it right. i made a wallet with counterwallet and uploaded my address to the green circle:

https://image.ibb.co/hCXzf5/nvo2.jpg

and then i sent all my ETH from coinbase to the address in the red circle. will i be the laughingstock idiot newb for the day or did i actually do this right and will be receiving tokens? thanks in advance for the help! Grin

Looks correct to me. Good luck!

Problem with ICO is when it hits exchange it can dump and investor who buy through crowdsale will have less reward than those who wait to buy on exchange for half the price. You will probably get twice as much NVO on exchange when it trades for same amount spent through crowdsale. Not saying this will happen here but look at notable ICO's like waves platform etc.

This is what happens to most of the ICOs, but NVO is made to be held, not traded.

That happens mostly to investors who dump as soon as the token gets listed. NVOT is a long term play. Checkout https://icostats.com/roi-since-ico which tracks performance against USD, BTC, and ETH.

Cool at least we're not grudging, you're welcome, let me explain how its going to work.

The situation you describe is true in the case where the validator is a single entity hosted on SafeNet, even if in order to get the private keys, one must basically break safenet.

The difference now (and this is a disclosed information) will be run simultaneously from different wallets, each wallet will have its own validator Instance, its job is to verify the orders and the transaction informations. During a trade, if someone manages to get access to its private key, he will be the unique victime of his cheating attempt, as the other instances won't accept his order.

It doesn't means that NVO will allow 0 confirmation bitcoin transactions, at this stage it would be hypotethical, a minimum of 1 block confirmation is required, however, LN integration is a must, as it solves a lot of issues experienced by the DEXs, Segwit will be helpfull too.

Regarding the possibility to send a transaction with low fees, the different validators will check this information too as the minimum will be determined by the validator depending on the network state.

I know about Bitbay and BitHalo, and i understand that you defend your ideas about atomic trading Wink and i appreciate the exchange of idea.

Right, well I'm glad you re-read my response I wasn't attacking you. The problem is, it is not decentralized exchange. Linking 2 of 2 multisig is almost the same as 2 of 3 but slightly more secure.

The validator can SPOOF the buyer or seller and default on their obligation after getting a valid signature.

So the example:

Bob wants to send LTC to Alice for BTC

Bob forms 2 of 2 with unique validator, Alice forms 2 of 2 with unique validator (potentially the same one or not doesn't matter the attack is the same either way).

Bob signs to send LTC under the assumption that Alice will be beholden to being honest by the validator.

The problem? The validator IS ALICE (and potentially the 2nd signature in Bobs tx too).

Bob sends the LTC, Alice doesn't bother to send her BTC in fact she withdraws it and takes Bobs LTC.

This is a pretty serious attack and thus this cannot possibly be decentralized exchange.

Only a lightning network and AT are decentralized exchange (and potentially microtrading in a 2 of 2 double deposit escrow).

Again, I'm not trying to rattle your cage or "insult you". I definitely want more people doing projects that are more secure than modern exchanges. But what you propose in safe network is a series of green addresses 2 of 2 accounts. It doesn't eliminate the risk of theft at all. Thats because the validator could collude with buyer or seller. Whomever runs those servers has a lot of power to spoof deals.

Would love to see Nemgun and dzimbeck cooperate and discuss this issue at length. If there is a serious concern, may be dzimbeck can offer some sort of consulting during dev. Any thoughts?

The ignore link really works to weed out the annoying.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [WTB/WTS] Stellars on: August 05, 2014, 05:23:16 AM

WTB STR in 5000 for 6.5 mBTC.
Will buy more but only in 5000 STR increments for low risk and fast transactions for both parties.
I will even go first if you are a Full Member or above and then post a review after transaction is completed.

WTS 30k stellars, all for 0.15 btc.

I am interested. Let me know how you would like to proceed. Would you consider 5k increments in order to manage risk?
