Neptune second batch: https://www.kncminer.com/categories/miners

Get them before they are sold out. First batch is gone already.

For SCRYPT mining you need a powerful graphics card, preferably a Radeon 7950 or Radeon R9 290. You are wasting electricity mining on your netbook.
There is nothing you can mine on your netbook that would be profitable, not even the CPU only coins. You are probably spending more on electricity
than you will ever earn from coins.

Change your hardware. See this: http://www.cryptobadger.com/build-your-own-litecoin-mining-rig/

Didn't someone mine thousands of bitcoins back in the early days on an old Pentium 4? I can understand how you might need a good GPU to mine litecoins and maybe dogecoins since their difficulty is quite high because of their popularity but surely something as tiny as kittehcoin should be mineable on a normal PC?

Unfortunately, this is not the case. A few years ago the number of people mining bitcoin was much much smaller. Now everyone is trying to make a quick buck by mining some coins. So your so called 'tiny' kittehcoin is not so tiny. See this: https://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

And then do some math to figure out when you will get a block: https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc (Plug in your coins difficulty and your hashrate to see how long it will take for you to generate a block)

Or just use this if it has your coin already listed: http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency (It does't have kitteh coin)

What brand of card are you using?

I have a R9 290 (not a 290X) and I get 831 K/hs, which seems to be more than your more expensive and more power hungry 290x. Something must not be right with your configuration.

Are you sure you have a powerful enough PSU? How many watts?

I suggest you get into scrypt mining. Even if you drop 600 USD on a graphics card and later find out that mining is not for you, for whatever reason. It will not be the end of the world because hey, at least you have an awesome video card for gaming. Or if you don't care to game, then sell your video card on ebay. You may even make a profit.

ASIC mining is much riskier. If you can't get your ROI via mining, you have worthless hardware on your hand. NO ONE will buy outdated ASIC gear from you. You will not recoup your cost of purchase via resale. And that expensive ASIC CANNOT do anything else, unlike your video card.

These are just a few reasons why scrypt mining is becoming so popular.

Bitcoin mining is a game that you had to join a while ago to make some $$. And then reinvest that $$ to stay in the game. It costs a significant amount upfront to become a profitable Bitcoin miner. You CAN if you are okay with taking a MULTI-THOUSAND dollar risk.

Or if you are like me, you'll just mine scrypt and not worry to much about the video card purchases.

Any ASIC you can buy RIGHT now with no pre-order is probably not worth buying. You will likely never get a return on your investment.

Your best bet would be to buy the second batch of pre-order machines (Neptune I believe) from KnCMiner. They cost ~$10K.

If you aren't looking to make that kind of investment, then buy a graphics card for Scrypt mining.

Hey,

try Dogecoin wop wop.

No DOGE for me... even if it is number one in volume.

I don't think it would.
69  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptsy coin volume on: December 27, 2013, 03:27:21 AM
Yes, of course trade volume is not the only factor to use in determining which coin to mine.
70  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptsy coin volume on: December 27, 2013, 03:03:12 AM
True, it may just be miners dumping their mined coins; however it shows that there are buyers/demand for those coins.
Mined coins with no willing buyers is a bad sign.

I might make another chart table listing the biggest difference in buy/sell pressure. That will easily highlight demand or the lack thereof.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone mining Worldcoins and if so, what pool do you use... why? on: December 27, 2013, 02:55:33 AM
I use the following pool: https://wdc.nut2pools.com/index.php

Why this pool?
  • It is PROP not PPLNS. (I personally don't like PPLNS)
  • It has ZERO fees.

Disclaimer: I have no association with the owners/operators of that pool.
72  Other / Beginners & Help / Cryptsy coin volume on: December 27, 2013, 02:46:13 AM
I just joined these forums but have been messing around with alt-coins for about a month now. When I first started
I wondered what the difference between all these coins was and which coin to mine/trade if any. Other than
evaluating each coin on its merits (make sure its not a scam) a good measure of what to mine/trade can be found
by looking at how active it is on an exchange. My exchange of choice because it has the most pairs is Cryptsy.

At the following link you can find a table of coins traded on Cryptsy, sorted in descending order by USD value traded in last 24 hours.
I used the current price of BTC on BTC-e ($740) for that conversion.

As you can see the DOGE, LTC, WDC, QRK & PTS are the most actively traded BTC pairs.

Here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AnTvbCwD-jbKdDB0UlhkeXlfTWtNdGVOVTVsaEo5TGc&single=true&gid=1&output=html

NOTE: This table only lists BTC pairs and not LTC or XPM pairs. I may do those later.

I hope you have found this information useful.
