Hi everybody. I was off mc for a few days to mine MAX, it wasn't a bad idea. But now MAX difficulty has raised, price has been divided by 2 so it's no longer profitable. Logically I came back here but things look "a little messy" ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) here : I even read that middlecoin was dead and maybe h2o too (I hope not) where are h2o fan boys? any contact by irc? no recent payout for me (except unexchanged I had since friday) so it's hard for me to say how bad is the situation.

From https://www.litecoinpool.org/helpWhat is the share difficulty? The share difficulty is a number that gives an indication of how difficult it is to find a share. The lower this number, the more shares a miner will find at a given speed, and the lower their value. For this reason, the share difficulty does not affect miners' expected earnings.
How does share difficulty influence my earnings? Short answer: it doesn't. Long answer: a higher/lower share difficulty does not mean you will be earning more/less, because your expected earnings are independent of the share difficulty: they only depend on your hash rate and on the network difficulty. A higher share difficulty can only increase the variance, but not in a significant way.
I already quoted this a few days ago. But maybe it's not bad to repeat it again and again...

Don't mine with CPU and don't mine with a laptop !!!
With a CPU you can mine XPM and other CPU-only coins or even some new Scrypt coins with very low diff. With an i7 (some mobile i7 have TDP as low as 13W) it is still profitable provided that you've got already the laptop and you have to pay only for the electricity bill. I make a couple of primecoins (1XPM = 0.00344 BTC) a week with just an i5. (not much but I don't care it's just for testing purpose) I guess with a mobile i7 I could make easily 0.01 BTC a week that's ~500 $ a year... True; but you are stressing out your laptop in a way it hasn't been designed for; unlike video cards those fans (and other cooling components) are a lot smaller and thus will be prone to break faster. breaking faster it's certainly true but up to a point. (and will 'faster' be faster than obsolescence?) Consider my old laptop with a P8400 (25W TDP): it has been used more than a year folding@home and it's still alive. Less power usage (13W) for mobile i5 and i7 means also less heat and less stress. Of course if your life depends on your only laptop it's probably not a good idea to mine with it for a few hundred bucks/y.

BTC isn't even divisible down to that (yet) so I suppose it's 0.00BTC per day. Not sure if he was trolling with that eBay post or not, however, if he wasn't, I'd say save your money and put it towards something that will help you out later in life, like for college/an apartment/car/whatever. Many of us got into this as a hobby, expecting to make our money back in a year or so (if ever)... It wasn't really until November that profits from mining could actually become a "job"... The problem is the cost of entry is already quite high if you want to make anything worthwhile. A standard 4 card rig pushing 2500Kh/s is only making around $20-22 a day after power costs, and costs $1600+ to build with the scarcity of GPUs these days. In order to make $100 a day, you are looking at around $8000 minimum... and that's assuming you have the circuits available, a way to cool the space, know how to build and configure the computers, etc... Once you get much beyond 20MH or so, you start to need a dedicated power panel, even better cooling, switches to network everything together, redundant power arrays... now you're talking over $20,000 easy. Yes i was troling ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) But you gave a good post, and you was spot on on your info, my first rig was a 4x7950 setup giving 2.6mh. 0 BTC Does not power up so selling as faulty with no returns.
HDD, ram, and psu are not included. 2 keys are missing on keyboard.

Well im from Germany and having only one rig with two 7950 mining stable with 1,2Mh. Ping to amsterdam is 30ms, having about 2,3% of rejects.
Just out of curiosity at what intensity do you run those 7950? Im using I 19 2x7950 use 2x210W at that low speed. Add 60W more for the PC and other stuff and you have. 0.48 KWh * 24h * 30d * 0.36 USD = 124.4 USD (plus free heating) 1.2Mhash * 0.013BTC/Mhash * 30d * 830 USD = 388.4 USDClearly NOT profitable.... 0.36 USD/KWh? oooch!

WTF? I Got 0.055 almost without mining! I didn't have many unexchanged at payout yesterday, 0.02 at most, I mined only 8 hours here today, and yet, with still 0.02 unexchanged, I earned 0.055 BTC ( ~0.024 BTC/Mh/d) ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) . I suspect that some of my yesterday missing coins were just added in my balances today when I was mining (and looking) elsewhere. btw I mined 12 hours on an other pool today where I got less than 0.020 (~0.006 BTC/Mh/d) : end of the test. I'm still testing other pools but each time it's the same conclusion : I would have made more BTC on middlecoin.

With the servers now out of beta, has the differences in rewards between servers been fixed?
I bet no. And if you are in Europe and using middlecoin.com as server you'll probably be redirected to eu or dam servers which seem to be - now - the worst in profitabilty. ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif)

|
Between mid-Friday and about mid-Sunday the EU server you were mining on didn't get anything. That would explain some of the low payouts for Monday and Tuesday. dam server was ok most of the time but with very low payout (and not a lot of unexchanged coins to be payed later) Payout were about 0.006 BTC/d/Mh for me yesterday. That's quite low compared the 0.011 to 0.015 that I usually got on eu server. Payout, compared to other users' with similar hashrate, is very low. Some of them got more than twice mine. Other got similar payouts, probably other european users mining on Amsterdam and/or Ireland servers. It looks like if the good switch algo we had on Irish server till the end of January has been replaced by a new experimental and not so efficient algo... ...and moved on US servers ?

Why all the "I'm going to wafflepool" comments. I did a side by side run and Hashcows beats wafflepool. If you are going to split miners, you should go there.
I did a little test too and Middlecoin beats easily Wafflepool.

is something up with the stats? on http://stratehm.net/# my exhanged says .39 but on middlecoin charts its about almsot half that??? stats are late. maybe to much F5 on stats page ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Can anybody tell me how much will be the approx. payout (per day) for 4000 khps miner with middlecoin?
Please send a PM and ask rahrahrah or SimonG. Don't PM them it was a joke. You need to know in which group you'll mine. There are 2 groups here, 1st group gets low payouts, 2nd group gets very low payouts. If you send me 0.5 BTC I could eventually get you a wildcard for the 1st group.

wow...HORRIBLE payout tonight
a good amount in unexchanged though at least
Same here ![Cry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cry.gif) But tomorrow will be another day. That seems to be something said pretty frequently on this thread unfortunately 8-( Well, yesterday was another day ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Lucky me, I received my new GPUs on Monday, one is already paid by my Tuesday payout ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Noobs Luck...

... On to my reception and overview of 1024 pool difficulty.
For those of us with sub 2mh/s rigs, I feel we suffer. ...
Nope. Rigs from 0.71 Mh/s to 1.62 Mh/s here.

I welcome the chinaman back. Id love to see his setup actually.
And like another said, my balance today is already equal to my payout yesterday. Pool is rocking along great.
Doge took +50% in 2 days. If we had a lot of Doge in our unexchanged balance and if these coins have been traded today it could be an explanation. Remember 2 days ago : low payout / high unexchanged...

We have already noticed these differences. It seems you can't estimate your payout only by taking some dudes' payouts with the same hashrate. There are so many parameters that you don't know from the server: accepted shares, stale shares (and btw do you submit your stale shares?), discarded works, gpus used, PSU, drivers, OS, settings in config files, mod miners, network connections... I've been mining on 2 different servers (eu and east) these last days: I didn't notice huge differences (same coins mined at -almost- the same time on the 2 servers). I may be wrong but I don't think the differences depend on which server you are.

Those of you who use CGwatcher to monitor your performance, which values do you typically have in "Efficiency" field? As I understand, it shows Getworks to Accepted shares ratio. I noticed that it used to hover between 90% and 100% on this miner (7970 at 760kh/s) before the boom of middlecoin, but nowadays it never goes above 40%. I also use "restart miner if # of accepted shares doesn't change for 3 minutes", but I guess with the latest upping to 1024 diff I have to be more conservative and set it to like 5 or 6 minutes. What do you guys think?
My efficiency is decreasing for rigs with stats running since a few days and is dramatically low for the rig I've just restarted. 2 2xgpus rigs were around 96% they are now around 84% without a restart. 1 1xgpu rig was around 50% and is now around 25% after a restart. As yesterday I had quite a high unexchanged balance I can't already say if my payouts will be lowered. My hashrate seen on middlecoin stats is still approximatively the same (higher in fact but I added one more 7950). There are many ways to calculate efficiency, dunnow which is the more accurate.
|
|
|
Could some please explain me slooooooowly why do people with the same hashrate gets very different payouts?
We aren't sure. But I'm quite sure it's not because some servers would be mining more profitable coins: Same coins are mined, almost at the same time. I'm going to make a test with 2 different payout address just to figure out how bad is my worst rig. Its efficiency looks pretty bad (E as defined by default in cgwatcher : accepted/getworks) . If the payout is far lower than expected considering just its hashrate it could be a clue.
