61  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BITCOIN NEWS on: January 21, 2014, 10:24:40 PM
THE SITE

FXUNIVERZE was launched on the 15 February 2013. It is geared for foreign exchange traders, investors, international corporates and others who are interested in international financial markets and foreign exchange. Information is power. However, in our days’ getting the information is not a problem. Receiving too much information is the problem! As a result the first aim of this site is to keep the user update on what is going on the world which may have an effect on foreign exchange market by gathering in the main page some of the biggest information sites. The user is able to see in a glance what is going on around the world and click on the news that he is interested most. We have also created sections for the news of each individual major pair where the user can read the most recent news for that pair.  Soon users will have also the ability to create their own list of sites that are interested using our Aggregator function

The second aim of the site is to provide independent analysis on the forex market and create profitable strategies using technical indicators and mathematic algorithms. A section will be created soon where results from trading several strategies with real money will be published

Here is the bitcoin news page: http://fxuniverze.com/btcnews/

this just aggregates data from other sites... lol

62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.4 Released MANDATORY UPDATE on: January 21, 2014, 07:13:37 PM
I have completely given up on Poolerino's pool/website. The website is down more oftne than not, and the pool simply does not pay out even 40% of what it shgould. Ran the last 12 hours at 5.1 m/h, got 10k coins! WTF!!! You are wasting electricity by mining there,

multipool.us - I was paid everything I expected, have not even bothered to try anywhere else

Cfx.

definitely +1 for this. multipool ftw.

Yes, this is awesome. I love what the Doge community is all about.

65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to Bitcoins if the $ collapses? on: January 20, 2014, 09:41:09 PM
This is why tangibles always trump non-tangibles.  Get your "beans bullets and band-aids" (a term for it) stocked up.  Then no matter what happens you know you will eat, have basic supplies of every sort on hand, as well as trade items in case stuff becomes unavailable due to economic or societal breakdown.

That, my friends, is true wealth.  Any extra goes into AU, AG, BTC etc

Stay liquid, my friends.

this.
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long will it take for people to realize Bitcoin isn't just a currency? on: January 20, 2014, 05:37:18 PM
In fact, it's a terrible currency. Bitcoin as a currency can't be used for micropayments, but Bitcoin derivative currencies can. Bitcoin cannot be inflated for state run money supplies, but Bitcoin derivatives can. Bitcoin cannot be used for trading legacy financial instruments, but Bitcoin derivatives can. Bitcoin cannot be backed by tangibles, but Bitcoin derivatives can. Bitcoin doesn't do any of the things traditional financial institutions want, but Bitcoin derivatives can do them better than what they currently have. Think of the Blockchain as the building blocks of a Minecraft style new World of Finance.

you need to re-read some stuff because you obviously have no idea what kind of stupid shit you are spewing
Finland and China have declared Bitcoin as not a currency. More will follow. Bitcoin is a currency as much as gold and silver are currencies.

I'm not arguing you with it being/not-being a currency but some of the other points you've made show that you clearly have little to no knowledge of what you are talking about. It's like the stupid preaching to the stupider.

68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Some advices for Bitcoin-QT on: January 20, 2014, 04:34:27 PM
After installed Bitcoin QT, users can not select the wallect filefolder, I suggest the wallet filefolder can be changed to the USB disk. if do it, after we logout the QT, the wallet.dat is in our USB, not in my PC,  the safety is better.

Eh. I don't hold my wallet.dat on a USB stick unless it's encrypted & firewalled & triple bypass backed up.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / earn as much as .26 bitcoins for a 3-night stay in New York - btc rewards?! on: January 16, 2014, 09:38:25 PM
So basically, a website is giving out rewards/created a loyalty program based on BTC.

From the article:

Quote
It seems like even the hotel industry is getting a waft of the Bitcoin craze, even if only at a small mark. Now via a website called PointsHound (a la Kayak.com-clone?), users can earn Bitcoin just by staying at hotels or booking flights through this company.

So, how much could I earn? Well, via the press release: “users have the potential to earn as much as .26 bitcoins for a 3-night stay in New York, for instance”. Worth it? No idea. Kinda crazy? Sure. Would I do it? What’s the downside.. more Bitcoin? Can’t say I wouldn’t give it a shot.

The Dutch governement just banned lawyers from accepting bitcoins as a payement:(

No government can "ban" people from accepting bitcoin lol.

Basically you are right in that some of the incentive is to hoard.. but also think about this. There will always be a price for someone to sell at. Also, people don't live forever. Say you bought 1 BTC about a year ago at $20.

A year passes and now BTC has reached $1,000! That's a crazy return on investment and now this year, your car happens to break down. You have no liquidity as you are living paycheck to paycheck, but now that your 1 BTC is worth a hell of a lot more, you can sell and buy the parts for your car.

This is kind of a silly example but you get my point. People will sell if the price is right. You also don't have to sell your whole stake, you can sell .25 of a BTC.. or .025.. or .0025.. the possibilities (are literally) quite endless. For each person, BTC is different.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List of important bitcoin blogs, news sites on: January 16, 2014, 07:29:48 PM
So.. shameless plug here, but I just launched a website that's kind of like a BTC portal. I'm focusing on news/analysis but will eventually running a podcast and making videos.

The site is: www.thebtcdaily.com

I update it everyday and am also looking for bloggers/writers to join the cause. Smiley

I know a few good other sites are:

73  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Realistic Expectations? My entry to mining on: January 15, 2014, 07:13:28 PM
Here's my two cents, mine altcoins. You could at least probably break even. BTC is out of the question. The only way to mine BTC is ASIC chips. GPU mining is still fun and a great hobby, but for scrypt alt-coins.
74  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A little miner with nice questions on: January 15, 2014, 06:58:56 PM
OK. I'll try to help you and answer some of these. In return, all I ask is that you check out my site for the latest BTC news! It's literally 2 days old so be nice Cheesy ... http://www.thebtcdaily.com/

1) A wall-in wattameter (for American plugs anyway): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009MDBU/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2) Not sure what this question is, what setting in cgminer are you trying to configure?

3) 210-240 kH/s is normal for your card. Try these settings: -I 17 -g 2 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 3840 (via: https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison)

4) Mining a 'block' is a lottery. Only one machine gets it. If you are in a "pool", that is then distributed amongst the miners evenly (or so we hope).

5) Difficulty is how hard it is to mine one block. This is usually done to slow down or speed up the "rate" in which coins are mined. Difficulty is not set and is always changing based on prior historical data.

6) When you mine, you make a share of the 'prize' which would be whatever coin you are mining. These coins would then be sent to your wallet (from your pool/online account). Then you could yes, trade your coins for EUR or USD or BTC or w/e you want.

7) CGMiner will only mine while it's on/running. If it's not running, you will not 'make' anything.
75  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello World on: January 15, 2014, 06:48:24 PM
Hey! Welcome.. I feel like everyone has a great business idea on how to bring BTC to the masses. I wish you the best of luck in your venture! I'm doing something way smaller.. just starting a little news/blog portal for bitcoin (www.thebtcdaily.com).
