Goxed yet again!

Oops, I goxed it again!
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goxed - 15:30 open on: June 26, 2011, 04:25:46 PM
not sure how much time ive wasted now being ready and waiting every time an opening was scheduled.

Yep, time is money, how much has all of this GOXATION cost us?
That is the real problem.  If they would just allow open orders, most of us could put them in and forget about it until the market opened.  If that takes 2 more days, so what?

But right now, we have to sit here and wait.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are you going back to MtGox? on: June 26, 2011, 03:57:52 PM
Because I've come to enjoy getting Goxed.  It isn't so bad once you get used to it.  It can be quite pleasurable from the rear, in fact.

Really.

MySQL is one of those "Get what you pay for" kind of database management systems.

They need to upgrade to a real rdbms.

Oracle, SQL Server, something other than a damned freebie.

Or they could do something really smart and allow people to put in limit orders 24 hours before market opening.  Then every customer they have won't be logging in at the exact same second and overloading their system.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goxed - 15:30 open on: June 26, 2011, 03:43:11 PM
Well, it is 15:42, and still no open.

GOXED AGAIN!!!!!
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gox wouldn't be getting hammered right now, if they had allowed open orders on: June 26, 2011, 03:41:02 PM
you need a backend that supports auctions to resolve opening orders and determine the opening price.
my guess is they don't so they had no choice.
I don't think so.  From what I understand, the backend just matches the lowest offer with the highest bid, ties broken by age of the order.  This can work with open books.  You just keep the book matching process shut off until the market opens.

I'm getting

"Trading is still closed for now, until things are fully tested"

When trying to place a trade.

The COO of Nintendo I think.  Someone was using it for their avatar, and that persondd went off on a rant against Mt. Gox.

So now this guy's face is the meme for disgruntled Mt. Gox customers.

74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Gox wouldn't be getting hammered right now, if they had allowed open orders on: June 26, 2011, 03:06:25 PM
People would have put open orders in over a 24 hour period before market opening.  This would have been much better for Gox.

Now, everyone has no choice but to pile in at the exact minute of opening.  This is going to cause severe server strain.
75  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Anyone know why the network hashing rate has gone down today? on: June 26, 2011, 07:14:02 AM
It usually doesn't go down, but only up.  Did a bunch of the miners decide to give up because the BTC price has stabilized?  Or do the miners think the price will drop soon?

Probably the difficulty rise outpriced a bunch of miners.
Hmm.  I didn't think the miners cared about price when they made their calculations. Cheesy
76  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Don't listen to all the propagandists. Mining is fine. on: June 26, 2011, 07:12:50 AM
Problem is, everyone keep talking about Thash chips but so far nothing showed up, even just a theorietical project
The LargeCoin team seems to think they have an ASIC on the way.  Whether they really pull it off or not, is anyones's guess.  Do a search on them on the board.

The thing is that there is enough money in it now that some ASIC engineer somewhere is going to give it a try.  The question is when.

78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Prediction: price will be stable or rise when Gox trading resumes on: June 26, 2011, 06:52:25 AM
That may be true, but I am still putting in orders for much lower bitcoin prices in case it drops a bunch.  I would be negligent if I didn't and the market cratered.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any word on when markets open? on: June 25, 2011, 04:52:31 PM
So are we just gonna have to sit here for the next 12 hours while they figure out if they are opening trading or not?
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Any word on when markets open? on: June 25, 2011, 04:22:53 PM
So it seems that the won't allow market order to be placed ahead of market opening.  This means that every trader has to sit in front of their computer refreshing until markets open so that they don't miss the opening.

Why oh why, can't they just allow orders to be placed before market opening?  And have a defined market opening time that allows some time to get orders in?
