61  Economy / Speculation / Re: URGENT: PBOC (CHINA) OFFICIALS Say "WALK AWAY FROM BITCOIN" on: March 31, 2014, 11:38:12 PM
Today PBOC Officials said the following to the Chinese people:

"Walk away from Bitcoin"
"Bitcoin exchanges are a Casino and will be classified as a Casino" (which means they will be banned)

PBOC has also refused to DENY their Bitcoin Ban, previously they always responded immediately. People here think communist country like China will recognize Bitcoin and pat you all on the back for being Liberty loving peasants Cheesy

The Ban is coming, the Price is falling

http://www.coindesk.com/chinese-central-bank-officials-discuss-bitcoin-new-rumors/

discuss price implications on the new development

Duh! This PBOC stuff remands me when Allan Greenspan was in the office. Something like: "Today Greenspan felt asleep during the meeting with bankers. This is a strong sign to sell" or "Today Greenspan was awake during the meeting. This is a good sign to buy". Or "Greenspan farted during live interview with CNN - this is a sign to panic sell!"
62  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Electric bills for mining on: March 31, 2014, 11:24:12 PM
This is significant factor in crypto-business and it's interesting to know more about it. Thank you for your vote!

I am not a rig owner but I was wondering how to get free electricity - till now I didn't solved it Smiley

Cheers!

Graph of the day:

That actually says a lot... Thanks for this! Good to know at least...

This chart looks too good to be true. I wouldn't take such optimistic charts seriously if I be you. I would say: take both very positive and very negative info with extreme care.
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is doomed. Thanks IRS!!! You Ass hats! on: March 31, 2014, 07:04:49 PM
Doomed..

Pretty sure if BTC some how crashed to $1... this forum would buy all BTC out there.  BTC is just stopping for fuel.

there are trolls from both sides.. I remember there were screams like "if it drops to $750, I will be buying if there is no tomorrow"..
..sorry, no offense.. just to make sure newcomers are not overwhelmed by reading "btc will hit 5K+ by the end of 2014 - that's for sure"..
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could WalMart go for a cryptocurrency. on: March 28, 2014, 07:58:30 PM
Most of you probably got the news that WalMart is suing Visa over excessive fees:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/27/walmart-suing-visa-credit-card-swipe_n_5045295.html

So my thoughts are:

Could WalMart start using bitcoin, and would bitcoin be able to scale up to that task currently?

If not, what would be needed for it to happen? Imagine execs at a large company really got pissed and decided to make a stand and cut VISA altogether and only accept crypto.

I'm not even foreign to the idea that in the future, various big corporations will have their own cryptocoins. Amazon-coin, WalMart-coin etc.

They are suing Visa and will continue using Visa. And sue them again and continue using Visa again. And average Joe will be paying for this thru his shoppings at walmart.

somebody is going to be very very rich after all this..

hopefully the difficulty will drop a bit..

Won't happen

Why would it happen ? nobody will turn their ASIC off... Why would they ? even if i made a NET 0.1$ per day with mines i'd leave it ON

I think he's hoping some ppl will sell off their stuff and forget bitcoin

yep, that's exactly what I am hoping..

70  Economy / Economics / Re: New IRS rules for BTC as related to US Tax payers on: March 26, 2014, 07:30:14 PM
1. Buy mining hardware which never ROIs

2. Write off losses

3. Profit???

Are we gonna see huge spike in prices of old usb miners (333Mh/s)?  Grin
71  Economy / Economics / Re: IRS is going to tax Bitcoin on: March 26, 2014, 05:59:05 PM
But I think them had to start with at least something.. Maybe big investors are smelling bug money and they started to lobby legalization of bitcoin. It is better than been accused of money laundering or something like that. I think they will loose the requirement to pay capital gain taxes on day-to-day purchases as well as taxing amateur miners. We'll see.

75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: on what condition can people have fath for bitcoin just like for gold? on: March 20, 2014, 08:31:08 PM
Gold is a Great conductor and will become more and more useful and rare into the future,..

Not to mention Gold is rare throughout the universe created when Stars Super Nova,..

Imo, Gold and Btc cannot be compared other than their Price,..

So, maybe if there was a practical use for Btc such as conducting, then we would be talking,..

Bitcoin is Valuable to me because its the Original CryptoCurrency, we have to think about thousands of years into the future and Make a Place for BTC there.

There is a chance greater than zero that each of us's DNA sequence is mined somewhere up there, and somebody up there had collected their 25 "up-there-conis" for finding a "block".. There are about 6 Billion blocks found so far and lets say maximum 21 Billion blocks could exists at the same time, so some of them will disappear over time (i.e. "death"), more will be mined (i.e. "birth")..
76  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't panic on: March 20, 2014, 06:31:37 PM
Newbies had read about litecoin "skyrocketing" and selling their bitcoins (which they've purchased at $800) to buy litecoins at a new price.

The beauty of mining is that you may sit here, and there are miners mining for you Smiley Pure capitalism in action.

80  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: people buying used miners on: March 17, 2014, 05:58:04 PM
Yeah, it's crazy. I watched 38Gh/s miners go for $500+ on ebay. That's more than $12 per Gh. People buying like that are what's making the price go up. A Gh is not worth more than $3.

People could mine altcoins with sha-256 equipment, just for fun.
People may not be ready to spend few K dollars for 1TH machines but $500 is ok to loose. My 2 cents.
