There seems to be good news everywhere that Gox will resume BTC TX soonish. Any scenario where this could not happen? Unless Gox is developing a huge scam, TX should resume soon, right?

Where can we find out how many BTC and Fiat are left at MtGox? Is it possible?
I mean from users' account, not from MtGox accounting system.

no issues with Kraken, who have already said they don't do their accounting on malleable transaction ID's - which is in truth, what has caused the problem, and not the malleable issue itself.

Yes, there is a key distinction between TxID malleability - a minor flaw in the protocol that would ideally be fixed eventually - and exchanges depending on them for their bespoke accounting software, against the advice of the core devs and in contrast to other wallets/exchanges.

It is the latter that caused all the issues. Gox dun goofed.

Great summary

Any educated guess on when Gox will allow withdraw of BTCs again (assuming it will happen)?

are we talking about days, weeks or months?
I don't like making guesses, so I'll let you all interpret this for yourselves:

Quote from: MagicalTux in #mtgox
04:05 <@MagicalTux> [12:05:05] <x> MagicalTux: would you consider a work around for manual bitcoin withdrawal if you can't get that consensus in a 'reasonable timeframe'   ie, the next week <- establishing a standard shouldn't take that long, but if indeed it takes longer we might just go on with the proposal we included in the announcement we did monday

Other news which may influence how you plan your BTC purchases when the BTC withdrawal floodgates open:
Quote from: SarahCoinBit in #mtgox
11:57 <@SarahCoinBit> Diabolicus_Work I've had more requests to cancel fiat withdrawals in the last two days than i have in the last two months
I.e: The amount of fiat on MtGox is increasing rapidly.

Think about this for a moment: If I made up a fake quote here where MagicalTux allegedly told me in private that MtGox would resume BTC withdrawals tomorrow morning, I could make a million by buying buckets of BTC on MtGox just before I posted it, and selling as soon as people start denouncing it as a fake.  Just by abusing your trust in me.  It will probably only work once, but that is all I need.  I can retire afterwards.  Always beware of market manipulation.  And note that my quotes above, which are correct, may be carefully selected and placed in a different context to manipulate the market.  Always be very critical to news and reports when you don't have the full story first hand, and take speculation for what it is: 100% made up, often for the purpose of manipulating the market.

thanks for the info.

As indicated by the forum, I am a newbie (quite accurate), so this follow up question may seem obvious for many people but not to me:
where did you get this info? are you in direct contact with Gox (i.e. IRC or something similar)?

and if so, how can other people can contact Gox staff?

if ever then weeks.

Im guessing never and if gox opens withdrawls to wallets I am guessing they will do it only if bitcoin crashes to 50 or 100 usd. The good news is they will in the interim let people like plus one man trade at .50 on the dollar though for anyone that has large amounts of bitcoins stuck

Is it possible for them to allow BTC withdraws once the price crashes to 50 or 100USD? how would that work?

after reviewing the bellow analysis, i felt more assured now this is just technical glitch not insolvency, load up your gun guys, buy at the dip:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1x93tf/some_irc_chatter_about_what_is_going_on_at_mtgox/
The question is obviously whether gox is insolvent or just has technical problems.
Why would mt gox have technical problems for more than a month and other exchanges dont? They guy in the IRC chat asked "how come other exchanges didn't wind up with these problems?" but didnt get an answer (i didnt see any).
Here is the comment you should read.  It is by Bitcoin developer Gregory Maxwell (gmaxwell), and confirms everything I have written here, and every statement released by MtGox.

Remember that 80% of the people spreading FUD here are trying to manipulate the price.  (The rest are useful idiots manipulated by the manipulators.)  They are trading against their own advice, and it is very profitable.  I have made several years of wages worth of profit myself by betting against the FUD and that MtGox is right.  Lately I have been buying BTC on MtGox sent via internal transfer on MtGox for 90% of the face value sent from my personal wallet.  In addition to that, I have arbitraged back by buying BTC at MtGox and selling on other exchanges.  The money comes from BTC I previously sold on MtGox after buying at up to 20% lower price on other exchanges.  This was while the manipulators tried to convince people to buy BTC on MtGox and sell on other exchanges.  And it worked!  It worked extremely well, because the world is never going to run out of idiots.  I've made 20% net profit by arbitrage without moving any fiat or BTC, and then 10% on just trading BTC for BTC.  FUD works amazingly well as a manipulation strategy!

I have noted a few things:  Nobody of those who spread rumours about MtGox running a fractional reserve or having solvency problems have taken up my offer of selling their MtGox BTC to me at 90% face value.  And I know several of them hold a balance on MtGox, because I frequently get questions about SEPA withdrawal delays and similar in private messages from them.  There are however many gullible bystanders who do.  People whom the manipulators have managed to scared the brains out of by spreading FUD.

I am more than happy to sell it to you at 90% of the price. How should we go about it? I have a bit more than 2BTC and use a EUR account (SEPA).
Thanks

Just received my 2BTC back into my Mt Gox account. I tried to withdraw them 3 days ago... Let's see what will happen on Monday.

Hey all,

I'm looking for some help tracking down two transactions from MtGox (BTC withdrawals). I have two tx hashes for transactions, one of which was successful, the other which was unsuccessfully. I tried using http://skanner.net/MtGox/mtgox_tx.php but it's not finding any of my failed transaction hashes. What's the best way to confirm whether a transaction was successful? These two transactions are for the same amount of BTC and to the same address, so it's hard to tell which actually failed and which succeeded. Any advice?

I currently have 3 withdrawals from MtGox that are stuck in limbo. They total over 3 BTC; one has been in limbo since 01/30/2014, the other two since 02/04/2014. I know I'm not the only one that's facing this issue but just wanted to mention.

I remember to read somewhere (sorry don't have the reference) that: if you try to withdraw the same amount of BTC for the same address within a "short (whatever that means)" period of time, they will consider this as a double entry (aka mistake) and they would only complete one transfer.
Maybe researching from this angle would help you find an answer for your problem.

also, I tried to withdraw 2 BTC yesterday and I am still waiting for them... I also withdrawn EUR500 a week ago and I am still waiting for it.

Well i made a 510 euro withdrawal through sepa at 2013/11/02
It took them almost 2 weeks to send it out so i see it at 2013/11/19
Yesterday  2014/01/06 i saw that i got 442 euro on my bank so along the way it costed me 68 euro.
So a couple of days is an absolute fairytail, when you withdraw funds from gox.
But in anyway you do it its gonna cost you, i wanted to withdraw from btc-e to find they have a minimum sepa costs of 100 and up to 500 euro.

You mention it cost you EUR 68 to withdraw money. But on their website https://support.mtgox.com/entries/21649594-Withdrawals-and-Deposits  they mention it only cost 1% fee + 5.5 PLN (EUR 1.30), so your cost should have been EUR 5.1 + 1.30 = EUR 6.40
How is that possible? Did you complain about it?

On my side it took me 2 business days to deposit money into my account on Mt Gox. I have now requested to withdraw EUR 500 to see how long it will take. It has only been 3 days, so I will wait the 6 weeks they mention on their website.

Perhaps he paid Gox that 5% "bribe" to actually process the transaction?

Well, EUR 68 out of 510 is 13%, which is damn a lot!!
Perhaps, the transfer was considered International Wire (not SEPA as it should have been) and the bank from MtGox and the one from Bronan charged EUR30 or so each + transfer fee from Mt Gox. This could add up to EUR 68.
I know when I transfer internationally I always get screwed by the bank that charge me fees to send money and to receive money.

I was actually looking at BitCoin as a way to exchange currencies by paying low fees... I guess I was fully mistaken...

Anybody else with similar issue? Out of the few who managed to get money out of MtGox? how much did you end paying of fees in total?
