61  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / [Off-topic] Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: November 06, 2018, 10:44:18 PM
[...]

Sounds like we got a little snowflake here that is all butthurt because the meanie Bitmain took his Kleenex money. Mining is like any "business". You operate at the lowest cost you can and create scale at thin margins. I am a full time "miner". I do my own build outs. All set up and infrastructure. I wire my own electric and only use 3rd party hires for complicated network issues and pulling power to my Breaker boxes. Everything else I do myself. It's called "bootstrapping". You insolent little twit. I do this for a living. You just blabber on and whimper about it on the internet. We are all sick of you crybabies crying us a river about the evil Bitmain stealing your Lollipop. Grow up. You're all pathetic.

Some people use metrics other than profitability to make business decisions. Doesn't always make 'em foolish. Is it better to make minimum wage as a janitor or a million bucks as a whore?

On the subject, I'd be surprised if Bitmain released a miner at 1200W. They haven't put out a BTC miner with expected power draw that low in about four years. Maybe they're finally realizing the density levels are unsustainable.

This is without a doubt the most myopic, ignorant thing I've read in these forums. If you're making "business decisions" based on something other than profitability you're nothing more than an idiot. If you want to use some self formulated definition of "altruism" to govern WHAT TYPE of business you engage in fine. I have no idea why you brought your mother into this.

you do release the world is much bigger than the U.S right? i pay less than 2 cents per kwh , and 0 tax on asics.  so my profit and ROI are pretty much different from yours , nobody pays 24% for miners except in the states " non that i am aware of". huge farms in china ship their miners in trucks  " next door to bitmain warehouse" it costs them NOTHING to ship and pay no tarrif + they get good discounts on bulk orders !! and they get cheaper power rate than yours.

and ya people still run S7 but can you with 5.5 cents ? not likely !

what i am trying to tell you is (every one has his own inputs of doing the math), it may work for some while not work for others !

I will not buy any of those asics nor any other asics even with the dirt cheap kwh i have. but it's a matter of couple weeks till you see thousands of them being shipped across the globe mostly to noobs that  will never ROI

Well if you pay .02 per kwh and no tax but "won't buy those ASIC",  then you're a fool. But go ahead and make your ideological statement. Brilliant.

RIP S9s  Angry

Funny that's what they said about the S7. People STILL mine with them. If your source is right, add in the 24% tarriff and the shipping cost and your S15 costs $1500.00 to your door. At .055 per kwh it make $7.81 a day or takes 6.5 months to pay itself off. I'm no math whiz but for $1500 I can get around 7-8 S9i's these days that make $1.64 at that rate. My guess is that the S9's on ASICBoost will do just fine as long as your power rate is decent.

Some leaked info  Grin

Hashrate =34TH
Price = 1200
power = 1500W

I think he is off. If the Watt draw was that low, why did Bitmain release a 1800 watt PSU? My guess is 32 Th/s pulling 1600 watts ATW.

Does this include the "miners"?
66  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: November 03, 2018, 11:47:07 PM
14 hours and hash rates are rock steady. Some are even higher than original recorded HR prior to install. Now just have to check the draw at the wall. See if it's lower. I think they've got this one well in hand.

24hrs + no problems
no hash rate drop 650+ s9s were transferred.
s9i so far so good

The firmware update is not for the S9i. While it won't hurt it, you are gaining nothing by running this FW on the S9i.

Thank you. Please keep us posted.
68  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: November 03, 2018, 01:03:01 AM
I've been running Oct 23rd firmware on S9is (178 units) for a week now. It works just as good as for s9
hash rate drops similarly power savings are also similar

You mean works just as "Bad".....LOL. What good is power savings if you lose Hashrate?? That's not hard to achieve. If I lower my hash rate, I by default, lower my power consumption. That's what folks do to 19gh D3's to group them on plug receptacles that are close to the 80% limit per plug set.  I'm pretty sure this is not what Bitmain intended. But at least you got the chance to tell us how many S9's you have... Roll Eyes

looks like there is a chance they fixed it

Thanks!! Let's give it a whirl!!

That's actually a very good idea but it's not really fixing anything. You're still running bad firmware.
71  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: November 02, 2018, 02:40:55 AM
when i was using it, the hash rate still decreased whether LPM was checked or not.

Agreed. I wish others would start notifying Bitmain Customer support. They are acting like they don't know there is a problem.
72  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: October 31, 2018, 07:39:34 PM
You can also try a "hard reset" with the paper clip in the hole "reset button" and reset to factory settings. Of course, then you'll be on Ant pool Solo and will have to change all your primary, secondary and tertiary pools. Then if it's not already the version on your factory reset, you can re flash the Nov version.

Have you try the firmware on a S9J?

S9i and S9j versions are "in the making" this version is not for those units and the miner will run but the FW will have no effect on the power consumption. That being said, I would strongly recommend against running this version as it is clearly not performing as it was intended to. I ran it on 100's of S9's for 4 days and nights. I saw the leaking hashing power over at least 70% of those units. Yes they recover after re-starts, but not for long. Besides, that is clearly NOT normal so hence, "it is a bad patch". Do not use it. People who are using it, please inform BM through Technical support so they see that they need to correct their version. Thanks!
74  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: October 30, 2018, 03:43:16 PM
Sent an email to Bitmain Technical support. They asked me for all kinds of screenshots and Kernel logs. I guess I'm supposed to do their legwork on this thing? I just flashed everything back to S9 auto frequency version. Everyone's hashing and happy. I'll wait this one out. Obviously work needs to be done on this " Overt ASICDrop " Firmware.  Undecided
75  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New firmware for antminer S9 - less power consumption on: October 29, 2018, 01:09:49 PM
I have 23 on all my miners and i have my hashrate degrading over time like you do. I might have to change back to stock firmware =/

Yes this is frustrating. Have to restart machines roughly every 8-10 hours as they slowly bleed off hashrate. This FW is a failure. Of course it uses less power, when the Hashrate drops off continually. No trick to that. I hope to see a fix soon.

Where are you located ?

Can we have a pics of the miner.

Happy mining,
Something veeeery fishy about this one. The screen name looks familiar too. I'd be very careful here. This guy doesn't even make sense.

Send them to me first then I will pay.

thanks scammer, only escrow
So, that will be "Trusted Forum Member Escrow" with a bitcoin talk forum member correct? All transaction fees, unit cost and Shipping fees will be held in escrow by that "Trusted Forum Escrow" member until the units have been delivered and a fair amount of time is given to test the units to insure they are working? Are you agreeing to this transaction format?

Yes, but all the fees will be supported by you. The equipment will be tested by escrow. Not by you.
You're right, because you have no idea how this works and I wouldn't buy a toothpick from you. You think you send the units to the "escrow"? Escrow DOES NOT test equipment. The buyer does. Pretty stupid really. You should quit while you're ahead. I wouldn't trade with you for anything.

I dont think anyone has anything from Bitmain yet related to 7nm.

You don't believe that Bitmain ships early traunches of technology to select "very large" customers? They do for a fact. I also said if they don't already have it they will soon. Moreover, the switch from a 26 nm L3+ to an "L4" will most likely come before the "S11". Much cheaper and easier upgrade for the manufacturer. Having said that, I have an inside source that sells massive quantities of Commercial miners and he is buried in inventory from large mines clearing their shelves to make room for their "pre-orders ". So if not already....very soon. Bottom line is. Don't be in a hurry to buy Legacy Bitmain miners. They're about to get much cheaper.
