61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Consolidated BTC ATMs in US Cities Thread on: September 11, 2014, 08:36:29 PM
You can find many location on this Bitcoin ATM Map.
There are already 228 Bitcoin ATMs in the world (not counting several thousands of terminals in Ukraine).

Regarding the profitability, there was a post in the blog about Bitcoin ATM profitability examples, which should give an understanding of how much a Bitcoin ATM can bring to its owner, and you also can use calculator to input your parameters and see when you're going to get return on investments.

Imo Bitcoin ATM should not took a fee.

This is a business first of all, so your opinion is rather strange. I think everybody will appreciate if you purchase the Bitcoin ATM and install it for free usage. But something tells me, you're not going to do this.

I think it's the first atm and only atm in Victoria so they can do what they want

There are three Bitcoin ATMs in Victoria, please check here http://coinatmradar.com/
two Robocoin machines including the one you visited and one lamassu machine

For adding the Bitcoin ATM ROI calculator on my site, I've looked at the average rate across all Bitcoin ATM machines in the world (for which the rates are available) and it was 5.2%. So 5% is something on average the market uses at the moment.

As a customer I find the rate 3-4% is fair at the moment. My bank charges me 3% mark up to get cash from their ATM in a currency different from the currency of the account, and this is one of the biggest banks. So if the rate of Bitcoin ATM is about the same - then it totally makes sense.

The other thing, how long it will take to make it profitable (you can check the calculator above for this). But with mass adoption the volume should increase and make it more easier to get return on investment earlier, even with smaller rates, so I think it will decrease over time to maybe 3% on average.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitBrokers ATM tested out on: August 24, 2014, 02:58:04 PM
I could easily double spend that after I get my cash

Can you give a hint for exact steps to do this?

PS
Thanks for sharing your experience. On my site, I have the fees set as 5% for this machine, and this is what I received from the owner, but according to you it is much higher. Do you remember the sell/buy rates exactly? Or maybe even have a screenshot?
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: do bitcoin ATMs really suck this much? on: August 23, 2014, 06:37:20 PM
Where can I find reliable statistics on their use? Bitcoiners always go on and on about how great these ATM's are, with their biometric scanners, their blood sample analysis tools, and their fees ... But for some reason, the number of actual users is never mentioned ...?

I've collected some stats. You can get an understanding of the number of transactions here Bitcoin ATM profit calculator.

According to what I've seen the average number of transaction is about 50-80 per month.
Of course, many things depend on the the country, location, traffic, machine type itself, supported transactions, etc. and also it results in different average tnx size, but those figures still give a good understanding about the volume.

Bitcoin atms are useless atm
not many people know about BTC..specially the general public.

Isn't here a contradiction? don't you think that Bitcoin ATMs make general public more aware about Bitcoin?
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 200 Bitcoin ATMs worldwide on: August 23, 2014, 04:04:37 PM
but do not have a smart device currently.

I think I'm still not getting you fully Wink By "smart device" you mean GPS navigator?
Anyway, hope you can reach it one day and try yourself)

70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 200 Bitcoin ATMs worldwide on: August 23, 2014, 02:02:11 PM
Yesterday we reached second milestone - 200 Bitcoin ATMs wroldwide.
Second 100 was reached much faster than the first one.
When do you think we reach 300?

The full map of Bitcoin ATMs can be found at http://coinatmradar.com
71  Economy / Service Announcements / Bitcoin ATM profitability / ROI calculator on: August 11, 2014, 09:31:27 PM
I've added to my site the Bitcoin ATM ROI / profitability calculator.
There are also several theoretical scenarios provided for how much you can earn with Bitcoin ATM.
Also tried to find as many references on the internet about real-life operation volume metrics as I could and provided several examples there.

Hope would be interesting to read and use the calculator if you like to start a Bitcoin ATM business.
Suggestions for improvements or and feedback is very welcome!

72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction times on: June 23, 2014, 10:08:54 AM
for example you buy a cup of coffee using BTC, you must wait until 10-15 minutes
maybe we must pay at first and wait that bitcoin payment confirmed while we drink coffee Grin

No, payment is done immediately and the shop receives it immediately, you don't have to wait at all.
as said before by others - the only question is a trust to this transaction, for which you need to wait for any confirmations.

But as it is something not that simple to make a double spend - nobody would try to do this for a cup of coffee.
This is similar like creating a fake credit card to go to pay for you coffee, definitely this is possible today, but nobody does it.
Same with Bitcoin.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM Fees on: June 19, 2014, 08:42:24 AM
I'm taking care of coinatmradar.com and there are fees available.
But this is the most scarce info the operators provide to be honest.
So in many case they are n/a, sometimes it is just %, and sometimes it is full info including the bitcoin exchange where from the feed is taken.

PM me for further info. What for do you need this?
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many Bitcoin ATMs... on: June 18, 2014, 02:02:38 PM
Just yesterday posted on reddit that we reached "100 Bitcoin ATM worldwide" milestone.
Today there are 103 on my Bitcoin ATM map.

My humble forecast:
End of 2014: 300-500
End of 2015: 1500-3000
End of 2016: 8000-12000
75  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: sending money from canada (cheapest and most convenient way) on: June 09, 2014, 03:09:44 PM
Fees is 7% to buy...is so damn expensive for buying bitcoin!

Totally agree, this is one of the major problems about Bitcoin ATMs nowadays.

Anyway I see there are two more Bitcoin ATMs in Toronto - lamassu and BTM from Bitaccess - so definitely worth to check those.
From my experience normally the fees are about 3-5% interval, so 7% is pretty high. But this data maybe not up to date as fees are changed often, so I would recommend to check Robocoin in place as well (although this would be the most hard from registration point of view to send money, as she will need to register first through ATM).
76  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: sending money from canada (cheapest and most convenient way) on: June 09, 2014, 12:39:22 PM
If she is in Canada - you can ask her to use one of the Bitcoin ATMs - there are many in Canada, just give her your Bitcoin address for depositing.
You can find Bitcoin ATM locations on the map.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 6 New Bitcoin ATMs And Where To Find Them on: June 06, 2014, 07:18:48 AM
Second Robocoin two-way Bitcoin machine in Vancouver added to CoinATMRadar. This is ATM #90 at the moment in the world. Quickly moving to first 100 ATMs soon Smiley
78  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CoinATMRadar.com - find the location of Bitcoin ATMs on the map on: May 29, 2014, 09:11:58 PM
Added nice Bitcoin ATMs growth charts to track how many machines are out there and also the share split among the types of ATMs. Hope would be useful.

79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 6 New Bitcoin ATMs And Where To Find Them on: May 29, 2014, 09:00:20 PM
After I made my post I did a little research and I don't think any ATMs allow for BTC to fiat.

There are several types which allow the two-side transactions, namely:

This is the most full list of Bitcoin ATMs (giving cash out) I know about. And you are right - there are many machines which are just vending machines, where you can only buy bitcoins, but not sell. But they are also very important for increasing the infrustructure and adoption rate. So let's see how it goes, my personal feeling and I'm updating coinatmradar.com site with Bitcoin ATM map - there are much more ATMs appearing nowadays than before.

2014 would be the year of Bitcoin ATMs, I'm updating the site http://coinatmradar.com and it is much more work than it was couple of month ago.

By the way there are now 73 Bitcoin ATMs in the world according to my map Smiley
