NODE wallet balance has no impact on forging correct? Just activity and run time?

yes it is called Proof of Activity! The primordial 2 factors are: time & spent volume!

what happens when I run 2 wallets on the same IP?

Like any other system - Rules need to be set, in order to avoid vicious intent!
We specified an example of those rules in the white-paper and i don't know if you guys perceived my intention of making the rule setting a community quest!
In my opinion: one head is ok, a dozen of heads is ok*10!
A rule example is:  Singles (blocks with only 1 transaction) will not be forged by the sender. This rule will make sure not to let senders of a single transaction block receive the fee.

I would like the community to understand the forging mechanism and help us find vulnerabilities and solutions to them!

Making this an open debate will cover our needs and engage individuals into constructive discussions!

0.9 still crashes on startup for me whereas 0.8 works fine. Any ideas? I'm running on windows 8.

Try running it as Administrator, and select to run as windows 7/vista/xp! don't remember the exact setup! hope it helps!

This dude explains the basics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBqghUNTA-A

Try doing this, and let us know what's going on.

Grin  when will hold an giveaway?

At the end of this week we will hold a small giveaway to see how the public responds! Before holding a massive one!

...
Thank you for the explanation. More questions:
The blocks come in what time interval?
Can anyone beat the system? Like for example, I create two accounts and leave it full time online and between each block, make an transaction between them an amount of Nodes (depending on need), it will add a amount of Nodeheight (more than other accounts that are not fulltime online) making me get more blocks than normal.
There are mechanisms to prevent this is not possible?
THX for answers, i will keep an OP atualized.
+
Yes and the whitepaper unfortunately doesn't address this.
How you prevent me from looping my NODEs through a couple of accounts boosting my Nodeheight through the amount of "spent" NODEs ? Is there any magic going on or is it "just" the fees ?

NODE can't run on my Macbook, right?

It can run on a mac! But we have't released a Mac version yet! At the moment we are working on windows as default, when we'll loose the beta a Mac version will be published.

I wont unlock my wallet until there is a mac version. is this a problem? will i loose my stake if it seems like i'm not active?

No way! You won't loose your stake, because your coins are in your hands! So there is no possible way to loose them!

My wallet is open a while but there are only two peers, she is limited to 2 in beta?

This issue is fixed in v.0.9b! You can get to it here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=590421.msg8926265#msg8926265

Please can someone explain how exactly NODE forging works? I have a NODE that will run constantly. So I can optimize the forging block sending NODEs to other people?
But it is necessary to wait a while between one transaction and another? How long is the wait?
THX!

Sure, this is how it works:

At the moment there are 2 primordial parameters that define which node is going to be elected: Time & Spent Volume(ammount)!

at the beginning when the forging module will be set in place: your timeHeight(the amount of time that you spent online since your last connection) will be calculated by the network and compared to other nodes timeHeight.

After determining the time, the second parameter will kick in and will determine the spent amount since your last login, each node will value 1unit of time - adding an extra second for each node you sent out of your account.

Those will be summed acordingly and we'll get the Nodeheight = timeHeight + Units

Practical example:
blockgeneration time: 14:00 pm 21/09/14
Node I(icharles123) connected @ 1:00 pm  21/09/14 and hasn't made any transaction => timeHeight=3600s + 0 Units = 3600NodeHeight
Node A (Mr.hotdog) connected @ 1:05 pm  21/09/14 and sent 1 node.  => timeHeight=2700s + 1 Unit = 2701 NodeHeight

Nodeheight 3600 > Nodeheight 2701 =>  Node I > Node A => Node I will generate the block!

After a block is generated Node I's NodeHeight will be reseted, and the cycle will restart!

Questions?

You heard from one of them less than 12 hours ago, yet you claim they haven't been here for days.

My fav was the guy yesterday who said "I'm out, the dev didn't even bother to answer my question from pages ago so I'm out".

When I checked his post, it was on the very same page and only posted 2.5 hours earlier. How dare the devs do not provide him with a personal response in the middle of the night on a weekend! Oh, and what was the question of such extreme importance? "When will Node be on Bittrex?" Grin

The silver linining here is that it's not hard to make a profit when you are trading against people with the patience, attention span and analytical skills of a snail.

Well... everyone is different, we are trying to have an individual approach, but it is hard, especially that text doesn't transmit emotions - and some how we end up with people being hostile towards us.

But i must admit that there are those that will take your arm when your offering your hand!

I totally agree Koop and normally I let most things slide but I simply had to point this one out to illustrate the extreme impatience among the people trolling this thread. It has gotten so absurd that someone who posts a question in the middle of the night on the weekend is astonished to discover their question hasn't been answered 2.5 hours later!

I still remember after Node launched - within 2 days people were posting that the devs had abandoned Node.

If it was up to me I would banish these kinds of people from the thread - they have nothing to  contribute whatsoever, they just try to spread FUD so that they can buy in cheap, or pump the other coins they are holding.

Basically, these are people who are angry that their free Node stake hasn't made them millionaires within a week after launch  Smiley

After all Internet Trolls feed on attention!

BTW we included your new Block reader design! I pm'd you the link! if you would like to include any revision, that will be cool!

I'll publicly announce it after you approve it!

so what good is NODE if everyone will be using USD/EURO on the chain as it has the only real utility?

You will be able to pay for the USD / EUR in the store, and NodeBank will help get cash

Our client is easy to install for Online Store

Sorry do you mean you will be able to pay in store with NODE or be able to purchase USD/EURO with NODE?

He was trying to say, that you are able to buy with fiat trough NODE in online stores!

Hello all,

i have a noob question.
How do i mine this coin ?
I did download the wallet.

it's a unique forging system , just read the white paper

At this time forging is set to random! So just by being online, you are able to generate a block!

It will take us a couple of weeks to fully integrate the PoA algorithm in the client!

Check the functional part in the white paper!

Any time frame with the fiat gateway? One assumes Node Bank will be a deposit / withdraw acc with a standard bank in some far flung tax haven.

Are there any more details with regard to how investors $ can be safe with this centralised point ?
As you understand most Alt investors are slightly on the para side.

Also may i ask where this centralised point is and who is in charge of it.

Congrats on the white paper very polished. Interested if it all works as stated.

An objective ETA will be the second quarter of 2015!

The security system, is custom built from ground up, by infield specialists,  we are aiming to create a “distributed security” network — one that ensures protection throughout the banking process — on your computer, during the transmission of information, and in the bank’s own computer systems.

This project part is still young, so i can'd disclose much! We are focusing our current resources to finish with the crypto part of the project!

Devs, have you spoken to Bittrex regarding Node addition? it would be great exposure for this wonderful project! !

It is in the TO DO List!

We got the initiative from Poloniex and Bittrex!

All there is left to do is arrange a nice sequence of events!

I'll be answering pm's, if someone haven't got an answer before, accept my sincere apology!

Create some bounties.

Will do! There is an bounty call in the WhitePaper, not linked yet! Try that out!

More bounties will be posted during the week!

I'm getting Back to work! Guys at this time we are vulnerable, some of you are disappointed, some are mad! But compared to the last 6 months of hard work, this is nothing!

Don't turn your back at us, because of this small incident!

You've followed our progress in the last 6 months, and you know what we achieved and how! Getting on an exchange was just a premise of our development, don't treat it as the end of the road!

Thank you for your patience, and trust!

I agree, but after working 2 weeks consecutively 14-16 hours a day! It is understandable but still embarrassing! You have no idea how shamed he is right now!

Please understand, shit happens with us all!

This is totally crazy... I believe in NODE, but I have hard times believing that Skillroad felt for that "Bilcoin" trap. Even unexperienced user like me recognised that scammy link.

On Behalf of Node, i apologize for all the inconvenience that was brought by the hacker!

I will publish the white paper as soon as it will be ready!

Please be patient!

Thank your for understanding!

You just deleted the Skillroad's post, can I ask why?

His account got hacked, so no reason to keep them!
Can you prove that? Why should I believe you?
If you are together playing some farce, you will really hurt your investors.

ok, i have no reason to lie, how would you like me to prove that???

TheRealSilk - his new account!

@koop4u at least release the whitepaper just to get some confidence from investors. if it is hard to translate release it in Russian.

Sorry guys!

I know, from your point of view a translation is no big deal! But it went back and forth due to some minor by time consuming issues!

Mostly by miscommunication!

Please bear with me, a little more time is needed!

Thank you for understanding!
