That's a very interesting feature and adds a stronger of additional security. Is it possible to do this outside of lan over the net?
Even on Lan it is a brilliant feature.  The maket place wallet is incredibly powerful once you get into it.
If you could get some people downloading and using it I'm sure they would start to notice what you've created here.
Do you feel the clamp down on centralized stable coins will open up the demand for decentralized price volatility smoothing mechanisms like what Bitbay provides. I always prefer a decentralized solutions where possible.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This latest move by the US Lawmakers can kill Stablecoins but not Bitcoin ??? on: December 08, 2020, 10:19:17 PM
Stable coins are actually dangerous.
Centralized stable coins.

Tether could collapse and crush billions.
The only stable or price smoothing coin that is entirely decentralised like Bitbay and ampleforth will be okay they are not hard attached to fiat or hard assets like gold. So no centralized control that can collapse and crush the entire crypto sphere.

I think sadly there are other forces attempting to crush projects like Bitbay.
Stable coins clearly provide even stronger competition to fiat currencies. Since people want to have a consistent price to for things.

Bitbay ( original I believe) ampleforth and a few others offer what I would call price volatility inhibiting mechanisms but some need a level of liquidity and volume to do so successfully.

Read up about these here.

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/344233205_Applications_of_CBDCs_and_private_stablecoins_Comparative_analysis

I don't expect they would allow Stable coins without super strict regs and their tasty angle.

How does the cold staking work exactly?
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitbay? what do you think. Does it really offer more than all other alts ? on: December 07, 2020, 03:11:38 PM
I'm not sure that you understand what these features are.
They would protect you from being scammed through the DDE and cut out any middle man fees both for the escrow or 3rd party market place or auctions.

You would find the features very useful. I feel you either do not understand those features and many others Bitbay provides or haven't studied Bitbay at all. It is the most remarkable project that I've found here sitting outside of the top 25.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitbay? what do you think. Does it really offer more than all other alts ? on: December 04, 2020, 05:33:53 PM
Have you read on Tecra and their TCR token? Guys are popular and widely discussed now, cause they are coming with unique product on fundraising field. Curious to discuss with you, cause looks exciting https://tecra.space/

Tell me a bit about it here. Tell me the main points that are good about it that stand out.
I really like completed projects due to the fact I've been scammed before with promises.
Tokens are not usually something I would look at. However something exceptional that was ready and tested could be something g to consider.

People are free to suggest anything they believe offers as much as Bitbay does for comparable investment.
Even projects 10x the cap are welcome as sensible comparisons. So yes ethereum offers very complex smart contracts but does have higher overheads than Bitbay which can still conduct smart (enough) contracts for most cases and has a pegging mechanism. So yes they are kind of comparable. But the price is completely different.

I welcome all comparisons.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitbay? what do you think. Does it really offer more than all other alts ? on: December 03, 2020, 10:47:25 PM
Yes you believe it offers nothing additional to you but what if

● you send coins without escrow and get scammed?

Or

● you wish to cold stake your coins and receive interest?

Or

● you wished to leave your relative some of your lite coins but wanted them released gradually over time?

I mean with ethereum and smart coins you can do lots of interesting things.
I wish to find out is the a project that can offer more features than others for the extremely low cost of Bitbay?
I'm joining with the Bitbay team to learn more. The more I find out what they are doing, the more I'm convinced they are the best value project out there.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: December 03, 2020, 11:14:58 AM
So the downloadable marketplace is working with the peg bayR and bayL already and the web market place will do in the future?
Then the project is pretty much complete?

Will in the future people be able to run white label shops on top of Bitbay web marketplace ?
That would be amazing it would offer shop and billing?
The potential seems huge especially if sports betting and unbreakable trustless payouts would be part of that. ?

Hi Joe-Bloggs
I'm on Telegram now - BitBay Doc is my handle.
Unsure exactly which is your address.
Please reach out to me for contact.

Lucky L. - If you get a Telegram address, please give me a shout out also.

That's good news. Did you join the bit bay channel?
If you go to the first post in this thread the telegram link is there. I tried to copy the link but my phone is messing up.

Hi Joe, I have joined the BitBay channel.
On there now. 1pmPST.

Hi Doc, I joined the Bitbay telegram a couple of days ago.

Anyway. There are other better Bitbay channels but only the Bitbay team can add you to there.
They will hopefully do that when they come online. The channel you initially appear on seems a general channel that isn't too productive. Good you joined. There are quite a few more serious bay fans on there.

What is the point of Bitbay and Ethereum? People only need bitcoin to send coins to each other to pay for things. It is slow so litecoin and doge improved on speed and cost less.

Well Bitbay and Etherum allow unbreakable contracts. So that opens up endless usecases. Its smart money. It knows only to transfer if the terms of some agreement are met. I love the idea of DDE which bay has.
Both are part of decentralizing many aspects of trade, services etc that would easily be abused if they were centralized.
Sure some of the features are super powerful and super complex especially with ethereum.
The rolling peg is also ingenious and would be ideal for their p2p marketplace.

If you only ever needed to send coins to each other and nothing more and both parties were 100% trustworthy you would never need anything more than bitcoin really. Of course litecoin, doge etc are good to off load the strain and as back ups.

It's great that Bitbay has some dedicated and enthusiastic people remaining on this forum.
I have found that there are many others but they dont post much here.

To address a couple of points.

Smart marketing only requires effort. Money is okay for marketing and you can do more but really you can get huge exposure without paying out. The things is you want targeted marketing to those that will appreciate what Bitbay offers.

The First thing you need is a dedicated and organised team.
Is there anyway you guys can join the telegram channel?
Keeping discussion going here is vital but telegram is also very useful for discussing ideas in an efficient way.

Working as a team is much better for morale
Getting on other exchanges would be useful but long term we are far better off getting our own exchange or working with dex like Blocknet. This is in the works.

It is important for us to provide a facility for US investors to obtain Bitbay and until our own exchange or Blocknet is ready we can use a website with live helper chat and OTC sales for 100k minimum parcels. Maybe even 50 or 25k if price baseline moves up.

Anyway lets get a strong team going and increase awareness for this amazing project.
It is not like we are attempting to shill or pump a shitcoin.
This is bringing honest awareness and fair comparison to a completed and functional product that is clearly underrated and under appreciated work of art from a ultra talented developer and a great team.

Bitbay appear to not require anything other than a fair comparison to shine. I wouldn't be part of attempting to market something I didn't believe would be beneficial for others to get involved with.

We need a team and we need to be organised.
Please come to telegram and then message PM me on here so I know it's you.
There are some other Bitbay enthusiasts already there. Lets get together and get some things done.
No pressure, even just contributing ideas will be enough if you dont have time to make some posts or send some messages.
Just having a group to discuss things in is good for morale.

72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: December 01, 2020, 03:10:22 AM
The issue with using stakes as dev pot is that there has to be the buy support to even cash it out. However the community can find us OTC deals that myself or Craig could handle which could go towards development. I still have most of my coins since the project started.

Yes we can certainly work on building volume to bolster buy support. OTC trades will be great for US investors wishing to purchase. I mean even a web page with a live helper chat for 100k plus purchases would work nicely

I hear you but a dev with a good share of the project is the sort of dev you want.
I guess the dev can't be expected to do the work and pay for everything out of his own stake ?
The dev fund tax should have been higher and mandatory like dash

If we increase exposure and interest then volume and price will follow.
Bitbay is very advanced and very active project but it can appear sleeping because it doesn't publish its micro updates like other projects that do very little but dress it up to impress investors.
Activity on the forum is very important and a good community could build on here for Bitbay.

This project offers more than 99.9% I have looked at but sadly the majority of members here have not heard or looked at Bitbay.

One last question is how up to date is this feature wall?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=890531.msg9817451#msg9817451
Could more be added and all the amazing videos that people have provided in the past?
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitbay? what do you think. Does it really offer more than all other alts ? on: December 01, 2020, 02:54:01 AM
You say alts that copy bitcoin have a hard time to stand out from bitcoin and other simple coins. So the same for coins that copy ethereum and other complicated coins. You have said yourself you have bitcoin, litecoin and doge so you know this.

Well Bitbay was the first smart contract capable project and is in no way a fork or copy of ethereum.
Having said that, I take your point that complex projects are not for everyone. If you prefer to use simple designs that is a your choice.

The thread only seeks to examine if Bitbay offers more features and functionality than anything else around its price range or even. 50 or 100x or 500x more expensive.
I'm not a Bitbay maximalist I have a few projects that I'm invested in but Bitbay strikes me as stupidly underrated and undervalued. It's just crazy to me it has a cap that low. If there is anything out there completed and offering anywhere near the useful array of features at anywhere near this price then bring it here.

Strange this rolling peg hasn't been covered more in the crypto media.

I will have a look at TCR but is it completed?
If it's a concept but as yet not test ready then its not a comparison for a complete project.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are there some good Angel investor projects here? on: November 29, 2020, 11:28:09 PM
Do you recall Iconomi? I was just wondering if there were more recent projects that had a historical track record of investing in projects that return a consistently high %

Jl777 had a token that was on komodo that was similar that was linked to an investment pool of promising alts.
I cant recall what that was called either.

I wondered if any projects had pushed this further and had been successful.

75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitbay? what do you think. Does it really offer more than all other alts ? on: November 29, 2020, 11:17:29 PM
Bitbay is not completed because its exchange is not finished yet. I prefer coins that are more similar to Bitcoin, like Litecoin and Doge. They are easier for people to use. Too complicated Alts like Ethereum or Bitbay aren’t what most people need or want.

The decentralized exchange they are currently working on is an extra they are adding to the completed project. They can polish some aspects but their projects is fully functional.
The decentralized exchange is almost to a test level apparently so that is very exciting. Most of Bitbay issues look to stem from 3rd party services letting them down. They are now going to able to avoid that and no longer rely on centralized exchanges.

Simple projects that are almost bitcoin clones are very desirable to some people but it is hard for them to stand out against other alts technically. I have some litecoin and doge also. You

76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Are there some good Angel investor projects here? on: November 29, 2020, 01:51:05 AM
I know previously there were some kind of angel investing projects here that bought large chunks of projects that they believed had great potential. I know JL777 had one such project I forget what that was called now.

Which of these types of projects has the best track record here?
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitbay? what do you think. Does it really offer more than all other alts ? on: November 29, 2020, 01:45:48 AM
I might not have much information about this project but one thing I have come to understand for a while now is that, once the team within a project is capable of offering good features and not only that, but the team being also able to maintain and improve on those features, the project will stand the test of time; this is to the best of my understanding is what has kept many blockchains platform working till date, whilst they grow both in operations and in users. So I think, for Bitbay not to be widely known shows that the team might have lost interest or failed to keep up to what's expected of them which might then result to less attention from users. Nevertheless, I will check on the platform to understand more and why it really caught your attention to this extent.

Yes, download the marketplace wallet and read the white paper also talk to the developer.
I have no reservations at all saying this is by far the most underrated project here if you are using price or market cap as some form of marker.

There are other projects proclaiming they can build something similar but claims I have noticed far more often than not hear remain claims or dreams.

I'm not advocating people leave bitcoin for any alt but some projects have such vast potential gains from sub 300 market caps it is worth considering a small taste be it Bitbay or one of the other interesting and underrated projects.

Cr197

That is a very interesting link. I think bay has developed an extreme volatility prevention mechanism. It's certainly a stability mechanism rather than a hard peg. The security and cold staking feature is also amazing the voting mechanism. The wall of features on the thread are immense and that was 2018 the last update. I see many updates since then.

78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: November 29, 2020, 01:30:10 AM
I think the marketplace is brilliant. However for real adoption you will need a web based and android ios version.
The ordinary person wanting to buy things or even more sellers are going to want to use it that way rather than download Bitbay market place. Although it is great and super innovative.
It would be nice to see a solid core in the community here. Some communities have a core of very dedicated and organised people that work together to help the project advance and they appear very active and alive.
That encourages new members here to become involved.
Bitbay really lacks this. It appears to be a part time project and that doesn't install confidence compared to decimated fulltime teams.
I say it appears because the work done here exceeds most other projects so the dev teams must be active but the community doesn't hear much from them so will die away.
How many hard core active community members does Bitbay have?

Those things are projects for the future, yes we could use a marketing team, also in the works. This project is over 7 years old, it's not going to fade away, the tech for this project is ahead of it's time, but things will come together, small Dev team, takes longer to get the work done, but if you want to help with the marketing, that would be great  Smiley
The Dev : (dzimbeck) is like the Nikola Tesla of Crypto's, not getting the recognition he deserves Wink

I agree with your post. I didnt mean my post to come across as negative at all.  What I mean is that it would be a terrible shame doe all of this hard work go to waste simply because exchanges are reluctant to integrate the pegging mechanism.
I still believe for strong adoption of the market place a web and phone based site must be completed.
No developer can do everything without help for specialists in certain areas. Well someone like David Zimbeck probably could but it may be a very inefficient waste of his time that could be better spent on other tasks.

Here are a few things that I would suggest that we as a community can do to help
These are merely suggestions.

The dev pot fund is needed more now than it will be in the future, the exchange and web marketplace are priority

1. Take a vote to increase dev fund contribution to 50% of pos stake (mandatory)
2.  Consider personal loan of Bitbay to dev contribution fund ( you get it back from future dev contribution pot later) lumps of 100k, whales could lend more.
3. Consider also donating 100% of pos stake.

The aim would be to accrue at least 25M to 50M Bitbay in a development fund as quickly as possible.
This would have a myriad of uses. Converting to BTC via manual OTC sales to members that cant buy or dont want to buy on token. Or could be put into a pool for a bay defi swap token. The lottery element from the defi side could be very enticing as they may get some liquid.

Meanwhile it would be sensible to form a group of real Bitbay enthusiasts that organise to start forming strategies to increase awareness. I really believe this project is something quite special. It is shocking to me this is hidden away out of the top 300 and hardly mentioned on crypto news sites.

If people could see the clear potential of this I'm sure it would be trivial to employ them to donate time and effort in return for Bitbay.

I think lowering the default target for the peg to 10C would generate more volume and get this going for now it can gradually be increased.

Just as important is that all Bitbay members should be active on this thread for discussion as well as other mediums.

I would also be interested to hear what people thought of maybe some return on investment projects assisting bay achieving its goals. I mean would it be possible for btc donors to purchase a share on the exchange so that part of the micro fees went back to them or similar such ideas?

79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Undervalued Project that will suprised us in the Long Run on: November 28, 2020, 08:26:37 PM
The most undervalued projects are.

● Bitbay - the first smart contract coin and decentralized rolling peg.

I have not located any other project this technically advanced and complete with such a vast array of potential usecases.

Some others are

Blacknet and Blocknet.

Blacknet is from the developer who rules POS3 and created it. Many projects use his old design now he has a new design they can't copy.
Blocknet have secrets Binance wanted to look into very much.

Coval- sounds very interesting but be careful these are slippery dev team.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitbay? what do you think. Does it really offer more than all other alts ? on: November 28, 2020, 08:06:14 PM
The above explanation is very interesting. It is obviously an ingenious design.
It removes reliance upon a centralized party to hold collateral that provides the guarantee of assured value.
Is the reduction of liquid supply rapid or aggressive enough in your opinion?
