It looks like you're paying out more to people that deposited 1 BTC. You did 1.7 instead of 1.4

No way is going to be exact due to the way bitcoin works. I might be closer to him in the network (maybe even connected), so my transaction could appear before someone that made a transaction before me. That being said, the client would be the closest way, but blockexplorer offers an easy way for everyone to verify it.
63  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: MultiplyMyBTC.com - 1.4 X Your Entry Pyramid Game - Round 3 Starts Soon! on: July 29, 2011, 04:16:05 PM
No. It is a time zone just like EDT and PDT. It doesn't change due to daylight savings or anything else. It's just used as a standard time zone. You can express it with AM/PM or a 24 hour system, it doesn't matter.

Edit: You should change the time on the site to say 17:00 UTC Smiley  Otherwise it's like saying get me 2 water without specifying if you wanted cups, liters, etc.

Also, for people who want to do the time zone conversion, it's not currently EST, rather it's EDT. A month ago several pyramid runners made this mistake and had many people in Europe confused.

So the starting time is 5:00 PM (17:00) UTC
I'm from east coast of the US that's what we call it here but I used the conversion to military time and it says 13:00 not 17:00
From now on I will use military time,sorry to confuse people. Also what is the best time to start a round for you guys?

I'm from the east coast as well. It's currently daylight savings time, so the timezone is ED(aylight)T which ends up offsetting the time by one hour from EST. So anyone converting the time you gave would be off by one.

Also, UTC is not eastern time zone, it's a universal time zone that everyone uses and then offsets by. So the game would start at 17:00 or 5:00PM UTC, not 13:00.

I was paid back, it's unfortunate that I was the last Sad  Spreadsheet pyramids were all there were a month ago with almost no scams to be seen, so that previous experience got the better of me and I'm sure a few others as well.

The algorithm confused me at first, but I'm fairly certain it's correct provided it hasn't changed in the past week or so.

Code:
1. maximumDeposit = SELECT max(fromWallet) FROM bpMember;
2. SELECT MemberId FROM bpMember ORDER BY rand()*maximumDeposit/(1+fromWallet) limit 1;

fromWallet is the total deposit of a member (a column), where bpMember is a table of all members.

ORDER BY by default orders ascending, so in this case the smallest number would be the one picked. I currently have 2.5 deposited, and 5 is the max. So it would be rand() * 5/3.5. So My random number is multiplied times a certain amount and becomes larger. Should I deposit another 2.5, then it would be rand() * 5/6, and my random number becomes smaller. So it is correct.

Edit: And just by a quick glance at your equation, it looks like yours is just the inverse, sorting by descending.

Is this from outside the US and Canada? XFX is typically known for their transferable lifetime warranty in North America.

That's because most of the deposits are from the previous round, thus their money went towards the PREVIOUS round, not the current one. So there money isn't even included.

Pot looks correct. He's included the people that weren't paid out last time, remember?

Race for the jackpot has started! Cheesy

Haha, doesn't seem to be much of a race. Maybe I'll get lucky  Wink

Indeed, figured this would happen but was hopeful for new deposits as I have about 20 BTC waiting lol. On the bright side I still have about 3 BTC, which is what I had before I started playing bitcatch. Earning 20BTC was fun, good to know it's getting circulated around Cheesy

You said the jackpot goes out to the person that puts the most in on the second day. When does the second day start? Is it 00:00:00 UTC time, or is it 20:00:00, aka 24 hours after it started?

Raising the max to 1 would decrease traffic by a little

For anyone still unsure (would have taken this had I not purchased it yesterday), "Sent" means the gift code has been sent to himself or to the recipient. When the game is actually redeemed to an account, that will change to "Redeemed" which is when ownership can no longer be transferred.
