There is only one thing that gives any currency (include fiat) its value, and that is: public acceptance of the currency as means for payment to buy crap. If, for example, Americans all of sudden decided that they will not accept the USD as payment for stuff, then the USD would be worthless.
Therefore, the real question is: how do you convince the population to accept a currency as payment?

A month ago we had dozens of new coins on the horizon to be launched, and now suddenly the new coins are difficult to find. But this one seems promising, at least for the few that are checking here for new coins.

It's y2k all over again! Jesus is coming back tomorrow! Sell all your crap and give your bitcoins to the poor!

This the most depressing thread. Why bother? If you're that negative about btc, then why even spend the time to post about something that you do NOT believe in?

American woke up, read the news about China, then panic dump. Previously price on Huobi always lower, but now it is even higher than BTC-e.
Wrong. If you were following fiatleak at the time of the dumping, then you would realize it was China dumping, not America.

Ban!
Wont Ban
Ban!
Wont Ban
no shit they're manipulating the market! I'm willing to bet that once the price reaches 800-1000, the Chinese will start slowly selling and then 'ban bitcoin' again. But you can't cry wolf too many times before the towns people stop believing you.

I am sure glad I didn't listen to you.

There will not be a better time to buy soon. $380-$320
Thank me in 6 months.
I totally agree, but personally I think it's too late. If you're lucky, you might get in at 400. I guess we'll see.

I like the idea of fast block times, I wish more coins would do that.

As long as one satoshi is less than a penny, then I think 8 decimal places is fine.

He's probably just trying to analytically figure out if he should invest $50 in btc, or $550.

Maybe you should reward investors based on their bitcointalk "activity" level. If it really is a bitcointalk coin, then those who have been here the longest should reap the most rewards, right?

I talked with a programmer at Google about bitcoin, and his take is that technology advances so quickly, that before bitcoin becomes readily adopted, there will be a much more advanced coin that will be more suitable for the times. That got me thinking, but in the meantime, we still have bitcoin and it has a lot of potential to become mainstream.

ha, #6, thou shalt take care of facebook ... i take care by not posting anything at all. Every now and then I sit there and read all the stupid crap people post ABOUT themselves, essentially saying to the entire world, "hey world, look at what an idiot I am!"

Sons a bitches just did my Taxes and i'm paying in yet again. If i pay anymore Taxes i might just as well go on Welfare i would probably make more with no effort.
If you work hard you get screwed over but if i was some lazy slob that didn't even try to work i would get free handouts all day long from Obama.
IRS are Terrorists stealing my damn money
I think 90% of Americans would probably agree with you, but nobody has the balls to do anything about it.

If you have money and can buy anything, then you can certainly buy your way out of jail

how did uTorrent get to be the best?

How can it be the past? But I hope it is the future.
It is a past too as it was released ~5 years ago. :-) Maybe bitcoin was around 6000 years ago too. There's nothing new under the sun, right?
