Just entered! Thought I'd give it a shot! Why not That's the spirit! When it's confirmed I will update the site! Great I see myself on there, but shouldn't you be putting my address up, not the address I sent it to? Or does everyone get a different address to send to? Just checked block explorer, think it should be 15djY39pXxShD6kx3HFresJv8jrHCXNbWv

Suppose the whole Bitcoin thing may just be a Bitcon. I mean, this thing could potentially fail, people could all walk away and your wallet would just be another digital relic on file like a .fvwmrc or some old Doom wad.
So, what are the situations that will lead to the death of Bitcoin? Here's a few I just dreamed up:
1) Hoarding - market liquidity just dries up. 2) Legal shit - made illegal in the US and dies 3) Crime - too much fraud and hacking causes confidence crash 4) Stigma - Bitcoin gets tarred with sleazy reputation making it mainstream anathema 5) Godzilla - giant Jap dino squashes all Bitcoin PCs and servers.
Suppose that's all part of the risk and fun of it really, could go either way

But this is actually bullish news for BTC, 17000 BTC has just been destroyed, this should increase the value of the rest of the BTC by almost 2%. It's not really good news, the decrease in supply is dwarfed by the increases of anxiety over bitcoin. If you are a relatively new investor to bitcoin and read about the 25l stolen, the mtgox hack, third biggest exchange loses all it's coin, mtgox shows coins at 1.3 million each, the dwolla charge back hack and mybitcoin one of the largest and most recommended online wallet services went dark this weekend and their doesnt seem to be any way to contact the owner or any info on it. This is a dark day for the coin, and this shit needs to stop happening for it to become mainstream. A stock exchange can fall but they will still eventually find your stocks. These coins just vanished. Very true... Buttttt, for me I see it as an opportunity to get ready to buy some nice and cheap bitcoins before they rebound There's been a lot of bad events happening recently, but they're just teething stages... All the exchanges at the moment are still very amateur! With banks, if something like this happened, it would be hushed away and nobody would know about it... There's insurances to cover things.

Very nice design! I'll definitely be checking it out! Best of luck!

Can someone explain how to mine namecoins? Is it through a pool like bitcoins or what? Does it have to be done through command line or is there a client for it? Do namecoins expire? I'm sure I heard something about them expiring? Or is that just the domains? Thanks!
Mining namecoins is EXACTLY like mining bitcoin No they don't expire, just domains Where do I get started? As in where are the pools?

Here is the method on how you can get your 7 bitcoins back. Paypal completely ignores blockexplorer, and it will go as far as denying that it exists, since it is obvious that palpal does not like bitcoin, and there is no point arguing to them about blockexplorer since they ignore it because it is convenient for them.
This is what you have to do, provide a tracking number, the delivery method is not important as long as it provides a tracking number, then provide that tracking number to paypal and a copy of the receipt with the tracking number to paypal, file uploads are disabled by default on the dispute form so you will have to call paypal to get file upload enables.
Just claim that the bitcoins were sent by mail, and you are covered for buyer protection. you can send the address where the bitcoin was sent, a copy of block explorer, a certificate, anything that proves that you sent the bitcoin, in the mail claim the value as the value of the bitcoins it represents.
I got my bitcoins back after 15 days.
Also ebay feedback is screwed up big time, since seller where only allowed to leave positive feedback for the scammer, there was a lot of positive feedback for jabgasrm calling him an scammer, all that feedback was removed by ebay, I have a picture of the feedback page before ebay did the cleaning to his feedback. Leason to be learned from this, is that ebay feedbacks are not trustworthy, they have no value whatsoever, before 2008 they meant something, but not now.
Thanks for the advice Sergio, that is basically the route I immediately decided to take when I realised what had happened! I posted the guy an envelope with "7 bitcoins" written inside, then provided paypal with the tracking number. Am still waiting to see what happens next though! Fingers crossed! Will keep everyone updated Hi everyone, Finally received paypal's outcome this afternoon... They reversed the payment to the scammer so I'm out of pocket. Didn't get a reason or anything... I am royally pissed off...

passwords now at 20 characters, as suggested in the forum.
That's a bit extreme as most don't have a 20 character password... How difficult would it be to make the email address you registered your login instead? Keeping your ID just for internal payments?
|
|
|
Yup the forum sometimes bounces you to http without warning. Not only on login. This can be pretty dangerous if you're on a public network. I don't think it's fishy, just some kind of misconfiguration. Maybe this helps: https://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=2795.0Thanks for this =] I think I'll be switching back to firefox! Isn't anything like this for chrome is there?

Flagged...
All the bitcoin theft going on is just like the gold rush was...
|
|

There's always enough to make interest payments. Bitcoins can be divided to fractions of fraction of a fraction...
Regarding the advice that some people provided.
Now after 5 failed attempts at logins it disables you for a period of time... That was suggested yesterday and I wanted you guys to know that we're taking your advice seriously... and implementing it.
We're also going to increase max password length... and invites will be removed either by end of night tonight or tomorrow AM (EST) ... Meaning that it's going to be open to everyone...
This is great except that I know that your login is "president". What's to stop me getting you locked out? You need to implement an IP log into the system, so that when you're logging in from a familiar IP it's a different game and you should be able to log straight in even if account was locked by someone hundreds of miles away? Even better, we should be logging in with our PRIVATE email addresses, and only using our usernames for transfers =] What do you think?

Hi guys, Bank opened yesterday... http://www.flexcoin.com/ It provides interest by charging fees for some transactions... Have a read, quite interesting!
