61  Economy / Exchanges / Re: DEPOSITING times on exchnages... on: January 26, 2021, 11:56:44 AM
Usually exchanges should process the deposit the moment it comes through.

And to avoid confusion, are you referring to fiat or crypto?

Fiat/GBP... I will just wait... Kraken use Payward Ltd to process money, no doubt they are just sitting on it for 3 day making interest?!

Not all bad, it will force me to sit and wait for the bear run!

Who had the fastest deposit times on coin exchanges?

I deposited on one and it takes up to 3 days... This is far from reactive.
If trading on 212 for example deposits are instant, allowing you to take opportunities when they arise... 3 days tho is just a no!

Are they all generally the same?

The exchange in question is Kraken.

If it took three days for your deposit to be credited, it means the commission you paid to miners was too low. This has nothing to do with cryptocurrency exchanges. The only aspect of your transaction that exchanges take into consideration is how many confirmations your transaction got. The first confirmation is most important, and the speed of it depends on the fee you paid. Further confirmations depend on how fast miners are finding a new block.

I have deposited form my bank into kraken
Then you'd better ask your bank.

No no, I mean depositing gbp into my kraken only...

What did you deposited on them? exchanges are relying to the confirmation of the coin that you've sent to them. For example in Kraken, if you have deposited bitcoin, it needs 4 confirmations to reflect in your account. Here is their processing times for each coin that they have. The only coin that needs more confirmation which takes up to 2 weeks is ETC.

67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Can we expect a dip, slump or pop soon? on: January 25, 2021, 08:51:27 PM
I have been looking over graphs of some of the best alts as well as BTC and obviously there has been a huge rise in the last 3 weeks... Same on the stock markets also.... What is going on?

Will corrections or pull back kick in soon?

I keep reading even experienced traders are unsure about the next few weeks or months.

What is the likely % increase AND/OR decrease for BTC, ETH, LTC, and most of the alts in general?

Will BTC hit $25k and will ETH hit $700/900?
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin I should investmen with 5k dollars? on: January 25, 2021, 08:40:42 PM
It would make sense that if you have coin x and coin y, you would naturally want to sell them coins to everyone else?

But the beauty of that is that there are a lot of knowledgable people on this forum, and why would they either promote a shit coin or not promote their own as it is in their interest to want their own coin to be bought.

Same with all the youtube gurus, some of them have the power to add 10% to any coin overnight, scary... I watched one the other night with a title like "these coins are about to explode" and I checked them out, and they exploded on the same day he released the video...... (right after it basically) ha!  Grin

70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is ETH where BTC was in early 2017? on: January 25, 2021, 09:10:23 AM
Most development is happening on Ethereum and that's unlikely to change soon.
Do not compare Ethereum to BTC, its plain stupidity to use BTC past market movement for Ethereum, I find this to be so misleading, remember Ethereum is able to come this far today because of bitcoin, the only good reason why it's good to hold Ethereum is it's a capable cryptocurrency, invest because of this and also don't forget that buying low is way better

Define "buying low" though???
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is ETH where BTC was in early 2017? on: January 25, 2021, 08:47:44 AM
It's easy to sit here and say "that's way too high" (ETH at £1040 now).... But is it?

ETH is being hyped as the disrupter of the internet as BTC was of the finance world.

Sure, some people bought it at 0.25 or £125... Ace... But even buying now with a 100x in maybe 2 years is still pretty damn good..?!

So... General consensus is either it will dump some before it rises or is now as good as any a time to get in?

It would be foolish to just try to correlate the graph against BTC and think it will act the same?

Thought please?
As it correlates somehow with bitcoin. The logical pattern that every investor believes is that after bitcoin's pump, ETH will be the next and then the altcoins kingdom would follow Ethereum. Just as what we today, I think that pattern has followed the same thought as it did a few years ago. I agree to you that if buying today still has the potential to give you profits within the next years, it's still a good opportunity to buy it. If you have plans of buying and holding it today, don't mind the people who says it's expensive to buy at the current price. Because many have said it when it's peak and ATH on 2018.

Yes exacrly, can you imagine the forums in 2015, people saying no way am I buying at £1000! It's never going to rise (BTC).

I have been researching psychology of investing, and obvs WARREN BUFFET comes UP strong, and his simple idea of BET AND FORGET as the best strategy (providing you are not tempted to trade daily or monthly).

I think this will be 2 strategies I will use. I might HODL some ETHS and also try trading with some.

But you can imagine the forums in 2015, people having the same discussion we are having now.

I am an Ethereum fan and I also invest in Ethereum, but I saw Polkadot price increase very high and now Polkadot is in the top 5 on coinmarketcap, so in your opinion in the next 7 days, which price will increase very high? Ethereum or Polkadot?

if I personally would definitely choose Ethereum Grin
Its glad to see you are on eth side but i have voted for Polkadot .I think the momentum to the uptrend for Polkadot is more strong than eth and make me sense to vote for Polkadot for the upcoming 7days it's price could increase than Eth .We need to remind always market is an uncertain place anything can happen here we can just predict it.

Are these two coins competing in the same space? As in same type of project?
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Quantity of Altcoins to buy? on: January 24, 2021, 03:14:46 PM
I think it depends on your own beliefs, In investing we must be sure and ready to accept the risk of the coins we buy, if you have a large capital I think it is very suitable to invest in the top altcoins at the moment and TRON is also one of the coins that have potential, so you can invest in the coin and later the profit you get depends on the price increase of the coin but if it goes down it is already a risk to us.

A good point on looking at the project. It's learning how to study and pick out what will be a successful project. So you think it helps to have a tech head on you... Or also listen to YT 'gurus'.... There's so bloody many of them... Majority of them are just good in front of the camera, can talk the lingo but very few are giving BROAD advice. About how markets as a whole function. When I start seeing people drawing lines all over graphs I switch off because it's all speculation to some degree?!

Any advice on studying projects and studying live data (on coinmarketcap etc)

It's really up to you but you also need to consider your portfolio and as to the saying "don't put eggs in one basket" it's better for you to diversify. most of people usually invest in btc and eth then spread the rest to various alts.
Also, just spend what you can afford to lose as to not messing up your financial conditions.
I'm myself would prefer to invest only 20% or below if the coin is below top 10 by market cap but that's just my idea of investing in crypto

Hi thanks.
Your point about being below top ten by market cap, is that something you look for in an alt? Not top 10 market cap?
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Quantity of Altcoins to buy? on: January 24, 2021, 08:45:33 AM
Yes investing 101.

I can afford to lose more than $500 (not that I want to).

I was just curious how people view smaller altcoins around 5p - 10p.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What Quantity of Altcoins to buy? on: January 24, 2021, 08:19:10 AM
Hi  I am spending a ton of time reading, watching and asking questions to those who know.

But one question I have in mind is: Let's say you identify an altcoin you want to buy, let's say Tron..... Currently 2p a coin.

What would people normally spend on this coin? Obviously as many as you can in case it shoots up to £10 a coin... But just keen to understand how people think / buy.

Would you spend £20 or £100. Or does it depend on your overall goal short term or long term?

Any input welcome.   Cool
