Is anyone working on a forging pool yet?

Coming soon, I think.

http://heatpool.xyz

Awesome! I tried to get local forging working on windows, but struggled ... a forging pool is more my style!
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | 2FA | HD | @Bittrex on: January 31, 2017, 10:35:19 AM
Any other torrent decentralization projects?

Good Question! I am watching this closely because it is one of the killer apps out there, but there seems to be no real roadmap or measurable progress here.
If the dev only pops up every two weeks- does he do so at least reliably?
And what about the closed source part? I haven't had time to go through the open source part of the code to find what is missing- can anyone maybe post some info on how those two parts relate to another? Thanks!

Good returns will hopefully come from the known unknowns cominig to fruition,  it's the unknown unknowns that boggle the mind, dev might pull a rabbit out of his hat... not many known knowns here

What is the PoS interest for WAVES?

I still have my original airdrop DCR coins that have never been touched, I'd like to access them and buy some PoS tickets (finally) ... what would be the easiest way, can I access my airdrop coins using the web wallet? To buy PoS tickets do I need to install client on my local pc?

Yes, you need to use your seed you generated for the airdrop to access those coins.  Then withdraw to a local client.  Then you can solo stake or set it up on a stake pool.  We are happy to help you out if you come by our slack or IRC.

Thanks!

So I use web wallet to access airdrop coins, withdraw to local client, then use local client to purchase PoS tickets?

So, does vtorrent let you download torrents or? :/

Also, any alternatives to pirate bay left?

Full details still unknown, but most are hoping for a decentralised alternative to pirate bay, plus monetisation, plus some social network features like chat
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | 2FA | HD | @Bittrex on: January 31, 2017, 02:15:08 AM
I try to order by seeds they are "Uploaded today" with top seeds by the same users for each category, download & virus will pwn your pc

Possible TPTB use some blacks ops to complement their public attacks

So, can you use this to get torrents yet? Looks like the pirate bay has been hijacked ... All top seeds are Viruses and somehow getting fake seeds listings

Any source for that info? Does look like the war on piracy is gathering pace, interesting times ...

Is this a forging wallet?
Yes, if your local machine is able to run the java server embedded in it.

Quote
Windows?
Yes.

You can forge using a web wallet?
No but you can forge with the server that has been released.

Ok, thanks

72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NODE Revolution "Your money - your way" -Temp. discussion thread- on: January 30, 2017, 07:24:26 AM
Sure he was from Ukraine, you could even easily find his name on his sites, he wasn't anonimous. But that does not matter.
What matter is that we are abandoned. And we have the choice. We can continue watching this topic from time to time hoping for a miracle. But soon node/btc will disappear from bter and the network (by the way, does it work?) will stop forever.
Or some of us can overtake the project. As I know, there are some old code, it is opensource, if I remember right. Some of the existing code can be decoded (or how to say it) from the binaries and seen. We could start the new topic, support nodes, maybe start new ICO, look for new dev.
Who wants to be a new leader of NODE?  Cheesy Cool
I'd do it happily but I live in a country where I'm a little affraid of such activities and my English isn't perfect. We need someone with good Endlish, the will to do it and just being a nice person who will not scam or say or do something inadequate.
Speaking of the legal part – fuck them and that's all! Let's not give a shit about who's the new dev and what is sold. If there is a problem – at least they'll show up.

But how can we do this? NODE needs someone who can reverse engineer and work from the last public code release.

I am definitely no coder, just a mid-advanced computer user.

There was plenty of people involved with NODE who were genuinely interested in seeing it succeed and not just as profit driver.
We don't necessarily need a coder now. Just the announcement that NODE is alive, has a new team/leader and new ideas, active community and looking for new devs. The main idea is to not let this coin die. The coin with unique design and codebase. Some people will run nodes, support the network and one of us will be in charge, become the official leader of the project. I can run a node and help with graphics if needed.
We can also think about renaming and rebranding, new roadmap, why not?
And off course we can make a development fund and I will donate 2 000 000 nodes to it.

Nothing to lose, might as well try. Is there a download link for the last wallet and blockchain bootstrap? Minimum requires a working wallet and chain.
73  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: January 30, 2017, 02:45:15 AM
Time alone is an opportunity to go within and learn who you are without judgment,  without public facades and masks we all use to protect ourselves. You might discover during this period of solitude that it's possible to have a bromance with yourself, seriously, you can become your own best friend. That's what monks have been doing in various traditions for thousands of years. If you can say 'I know myself, and I accept myself without judgement', then you really can be your own best friend, then you're never alone ever again. But to know yourself takes periods on your own, which can be a wonderful time. My father only ever lived on his own for a brief period between age 62 and 68, no parents and sibling, no wife and children, no adult children, no girlfriends - during that time he grew more than at any other time in his life. I wonder now what would have happened if he did it earlier.

The online wallet at https://heatwallet.com now contains a few improvements so it's easier to find your account number after (and also before) logging in. Embedded client-server wallet package for Linux and Windows is *very* near and could have been released, but we chose to postpone release for tomorrow to check a few things before enabling the A2A markets en masse.

So will that be a windows version of a wallet used also for POS and POP forging?

If there is forging pools to open up is it only for POS or also possibility of POP?

Interested in knowing also, especially forging pools
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | POS | Assets | Names | Polls | Automated Transactions | Social Network on: January 29, 2017, 12:52:06 PM
Qora very long accumulated and bribed, pump was inevitable, but as always I was not in this train, who bought QORA 7 sat and sold for 20 - well done, earn good money at such a high pump

Pump? It is more likely Burst holders finding out about the Merge Mining opportunity. Again even if someone buys at 20 they buy more at 11 and hedge their position at 20. Ultimately if the BitCoin price goes up and QORA doesn't it could go to 1 satoshi and still be worth what you have invested. People are getting this concept and getting in to a stable and profitable coin! This means the coin can have great merchant support at low sats, creating liquidity when merchants decide to accept the coin.

Why would people rather buy in to a $40 coin that is being Mined and sold for profit, when you can get in on a coin that will have no inflation and has a base distribution that allows you to always secure your investment? Meanwhile they also get Exponential profit possibilities.

I still say keep the 10B static and mine for Transaction fees and hope for Burst Support like we just saw in the market on Burst and QORA simultaneously! Also, being that the excuse would be that the inflation is small only means that you really don't need to expand the Cap to make it work. The 10B is something that is sacred to this coin and will help the coin once it is fully distributed. Consider all the fees that can be mined for people using the Social Media aspects decentralized, and as the economy ramps up!

Of course this would also be part of the blocks even if the 10B were inflated, I just think it is kind of sacred to the coin and should be left intact when the only benefit would be to draw people in just to mine it. This just shows a glaring example of why it should just be merge mined for no reward other than TX fees. How many people on Burst would mine it for Free? Well if it is 4 miners that is enough. I will be one who is the other 3? See how easy it will be to create interest! And think about the small guy miners they can actually compete if the 10B is static and possibly win some TX fees.

If we keep it to TX Fees only, most big miners won't care. Then small miners can support the network and there are more small miners than big, and guess what QORA is... Social Media! This is the beauty of Social Networking an Support as it grows the network. The individual is more important than the Big Mining outfit just to dump coin on a market that nixes Social aspects in return for payoffs.

I hope qora keep the 10B static too

Right On! Glad to hear it... Come to think about it we could even mine it with only phones. It doesn't have to be this big competition for coin in PoW. Having more People mining is actually better and you may have the same scenario of people getting upset at the huge amount of hash that could point at the network and discourage the little guy. Leave the Big Plots on Burst and let QORA draw in a one of a kind Social opportunity. Both will benefit in the long run. Android only miner for QORA?

Adding some random bonus tx coins to random blocks from a donation pool like NXT is doing could push this over the tipping point, and preserve 10B coin max, BUT, it needs whales to step up and donate. NXT has a lottery pool of 5M coins from 1B coins, could we match that with 50M donations of qora? A challenge, but possible

Is there a kmd rich list yet?

Why would your ask? Is it a target for your trolling escapade?

Just curious that's all, election ends in a few hours, and kmd equate to votes, did you realise there was a node election happening?
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: January 29, 2017, 01:15:25 AM
Damn, I've been asking the devs to help me out with my XEL. I sent my donation via Coinbase. Is there anyway to get my XEL even though I don't have the private key? I have proof of the transaction. It's not a lot, but however much it is, I think I should still get my share.

Really sorry for you, but I don't think the devs could help you, even if they believed you, it's not the way cryptography works. Every blockchain has heaps of unaccessible 'dark' coins that have been lost forever because of lost private keys. Once the genesis block is created it's done, the devs can't change it, it's the same vibe as a rollback,  it undermines the whole foundations of crypto. Sorry man! You might have better luck asking coinbase to claim your elastic and send it to you.

Too much noise in here ...

Can someone point me to windows forging instructions, please?

I'll try.  I'm a Linux guy and this is untested, so no promises.  This relies on HEAT server, so is probably unnecessarily complex.  (Hope they churn out a fancy light client like they did with FIMK -- is a heck of a lot easier for newbies).

The heatledger server should run on Windows (read the quick notes and download from here):
https://github.com/Heat-Ledger-Ltd/heatledger/releases

Unzip it.

See the readme here (notes for java installation):
https://github.com/Heat-Ledger-Ltd/heatledger/blob/master/README.md

Add a new heat.properties file in the conf/ folder (next to heat-default.properties).  Only one line for now:
Code:
heat.apiKeyDisabled=true

Run the heat server:
bin/heatledger.bat

.....

Okay, so now you should have a running HEAT server on your windows computer.  Now use the HTTP API to start forging.

Open the following URL in a private browser window (replace THIS%20IS%20THE%20PASSPHRASE with your account passphrase.  Spaces turn into %20):

http://localhost:7733/api/v1/mining/start/THIS%20IS%20THE%20PASSPHRASE

If you get a JSON response that includes "deadline" and "hitTime", it probably worked!  If you get a JSON response that says "error", it probably didn't.

If you don't use a private browser, this URL (which includes your passphrase) will be saved in history, so be careful.
.......

Anybody: Feel free to take this, test it, clean it up, and make more accessible.

Thank you Jack, I will try these instructions and see how I go. I wonder if the dev team are planning to setup some forging pools like NXT has, is it possible to lease Heat balances like NXT does?
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the altcoin era over ? on: January 28, 2017, 07:29:36 AM
Alt coins as in 'alternative' digital currencies to bitcoin, they already peeked, but plenty will live on coz they are so easy to keep going, even with 30 people, but they'll rarely have any value again, maybe 2% of bitcoin cap combined.

Alt tokens used by new business models that perform a function will grow, and they might be larger than bitcoin one day, but they're strictly speaking, not currencies, but easily converted into money just the same.

Alts powering DAO based entities will be the next big thing, The DAO fiasco slowed things down in 2016,  but the next wave of alts will exist for a reason other than 'currency', like the new Pokereum DAO token, which is still an alt, but is not competing with bitcoin, it's powering decentralised poker application. App based alts still have lots of growth potential.
