So, can someone explain to me how the pools work with a new launch? Don't they need time to get the daemon up and running?
62  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Am I getting scammed? First time bitcoin user on: May 09, 2014, 01:03:24 PM
So I was sent this transaction who seems very weird. Worth noting it's my first time receiving using btc.
I use the wallet multibit and I was sent approx 175 dollars. Theese have been showing up but I can't spend them and it sais unconfirmed.

Here is a screen shot http://sv.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=144blfb&s=8#.U2vI_vl_tVQ.

Also here is the transaction info: https://blockchain.info/tx-index/616b243a3e151963bc875d7cd2a991fc689f717c816769da7fa0c1598bac202b

Should I send him his stuffs or should I wait? Am I gonna get this cash at all or should I just leave it? It seems really fishy, like he've done something

I checked the transaction and as you can see, it's been confirmed. Next time, make sure the sender sends it with a fee if it's a priority transaction

Wow, what a train wreck. Good luck with your purchase
64  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Teach me about paper wallets :) on: May 09, 2014, 02:55:51 AM
wow, thank you everyone.

It's definitely still really confusing for me: I'm googling like every other word/phrase (split key address, .dat, etc) so this is like learning a new language in terms of terminology AND functionality. I really appreciate all the replies and will continue reading/researching.

This is the best approach to take IMO. Create a few paper wallets, send a few cents to them and practice importing it on Blockchain.info

Once you understand how it works, then go ahead and store your funds on them

The transactions are unknown? Can you paste the transaction ID?

This concept only works if the merchant is a speculator himself. What if the price doesn't make a recovery?
67  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: VIRCUREX IS RUNNING WITH NEGATIVE NAV: BEWARE EVERYBODY on: May 08, 2014, 02:19:30 AM
It's honestly a shame Vircurex had to go through these troubles. They were one of the first exchanges I used and I really liked them. Never had any latency issues, customer support issues, or withdrawal/deposit issues. Best of luck to them and all those involved.
