Myself and Amir Abrams have been working hard at getting the codebase finished for DarkSilk and into a testable state once more. Currently we are putting in some additions from Bitcoin Core and tying it all together with the new Dash Core code that we have implemented and the existing underlying Blackcoin source. Matthew Langdon is hard at work on the user accounts of Weaver and the wallet system that accompanies them, which is of course a priority as we want to open registrations ahead of the Silk launch and swap period beginning. Gregory Betz seems to still be eating turkey and probably is lost in a sea of chocolate, however, upon his return he will be recalculating DarkSilk supply etc. for the PoW changes being implemented to secure the 3rd Tier of the DarkSilk network (Stormnode Quorums).  Jan Fox, the graphic designer, is still to deliver the final splash screens of DarkSilk and Silk, the logo for Woven within the Weaver platform and he is also creating the graphics for the new thread and its respective OP. Jan's work will be credited in the sourcecode for both Silk and DarkSilk along with his website and contact details if anyone wishes to contact him. Still a lot of work but the finish line is now in sight. Got more active devs then active members of the community. Def a first in crypto lol Must be many silent lurkers |

No unfortunately users don't seem to even know their own coin, even though they have invested in it and have been using for however long.
Silkcoin code (old Silkcoin):

Sadly I think Greg did his math based on 200,000,000 coins which is incorrect, Greg has only joined in the last few days and doesn't have any previous dealings with Silkcoin, so he isn't to blame.

The code is open-source for a reason. Look at main.h of the majority of altcoins and you will see the MAX_MONEY value.
OrsonJ, please understand the difference between MAX_MONEY and the total coins that are CURRENTLY in circulation. There are ~44 million Silkcoin in circulation and 2,000,000,000 total is the max amount that can EVER be produced.
Not being rude, not directed at you OrsonJ, but I have had to answer this question over and over and over again.
I find it a bit odd that people are aware that Bitcoin will only ever have a certain amount of coins ever, but when it comes to altcoins that understanding seems to fly out of the window.
It is a bit worrying that there are a huge amount of people investing in something they do not fully understand. In fact this is very worrying.
I offered a Skype call with everyone and a Google+ hangout but no one attended, it is quite obvious that people have questions and also need teaching and guidance.

Sorry I must have missed the earlier discussions about the supply. It would be helpful if this sort of thing was in the OP since not everyone has time to go looking through the code (but I understand this thread is just a stopgap). So if i've calculated correctly it'll take more than 190 years for the Silkcoin supply to reach 2 Billion. And that's if none of the original supply was actually swapped. I'm a bit concerned about the amount of SILK that leaves the team in control of. It's not that I don't trust you guys, but if 75% (33m) of the original Silkcoin's current supply (44m) is swapped during the first 3 months, you're still left holding over 1 Billion 960 Million SILK. There's a good chance that will make potential investors a little nervous. Is it something you've given any thought to? Apologies if this has already been covered too, it's a pretty fast moving project and thread and I haven't as much time to dedicate to this sort of thing as I'd like at the moment. You of all people, Orson, should know that the 2 billion SLK will not be generated for 1984 years.  My bad I misunderstood. I thought there was 2 Billion SLK being premined for the silkcoin swap. There are two new coins: Silk (SLK) and DarkSilk (DRKSLK) SILK will be swapped for SLK at a 1:1 ratio on the Weaver. DarkSilk will launch 30days after silk swap. You will be able to exchange SLK for DRKSLK on the Weaver at the current market rate. The whitepaper has much more detail |

imo, the 45mil premine is necessary. It allows silk holders to swap silk for drkslk, if they so choose. And its not a traditional sketchy "premine" like we see in crypto. What we are doing is completely transparent and gives everybody the same chance to get their part of the "premine" via silk swap.

I have removed split staking and after looking at Blackcoins PoSv3 I have realised that the incentive to stake higher amounts is pretty pointless as their PoSv3 just pays out a fixed amount of 1.5BLK regardless of amount staked.
I am changing this PoS code/calculation and we will have our own variation of PoSv3.
The calc is as follows:
Staked Coins x COIN x 6 / 150 = STATIC_POW_REWARD
(On another note I am now able to edit my signature and I have, added all my GitHub/donation addresses)

And what's the driving force behind this machine? I mean, i like this machine because it will increase the value of silk, but why? Why will someone want to swap for drkslk? And what use-case is that? And if I'm going through all this because I really want drkslk why don't you just list it on the exchange for everybody to buy?

This was bugging me, so I woke up understanding that it is not necessarily done by the user. It needs to be a mandatory constraint and could thus be seamlessly done. With Silk only existing on exchanges and DarkSilk only in wallets. This would give the benefit of a two-coin system while acting as a one-coin system. This should be easier for the Dev and the exchanges as well. There only needs to be one wallet for exchanges, Silk; the gold to hold.And one wallet for users, DarkSilk; the metal to work with. Imagine you have Silk on your exchange account and you send it to your DarkSilk wallet address. The weaver picks op the first letter of the address string and knows it needs to be swapped first. Same for sending DarkSilk to an exchange, at the moment Silk addresses start with a B so the weaver could know what to do on that trigger. No hassle for the user. And all public or exchange Silk are potentially swapped for private or wallet DarkSilk. Now same can be said for alternative correncies for example Doge. If someone sends a Doge coin to a DarkSilk wallet the weaver could know by address what coin it is and how to swap it. Creating DarkSilk and storing the Doge in the Fund. All seamlessly done without interaction of the user. In the end all alternative currencies need to be valued against Silk, not BTC, much like the Dollar-Oil coupling. This means that Silk should end up being paired on exchanges, a bold move, but hey why not aim high . Fucking genius |
