61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With Bitcoin lost permanently over time how will it affect Bitcoin as currency? on: May 01, 2018, 07:07:20 PM
With a percentage Bitcoin lost permanently over time…how will it affect Bitcoin as the one and only world currency?

An article I just came across on Forbes says close to 4 million Bitcoin have been lost forever.

When Bitcoin becomes a major world currency only 17 million Bitcoins will be available to circulate.

Yes that 17 million can then be broken down to 100,000,000 Satoshi so plenty of bitcoin to be around.

But one thing nags me all the time….What happens when more btc is lost over  time and the available amount drops to say 10 million or less.

This will happen due to paper wallets lost forever and pcs wiping out private keys etc etc etc

Also I am not counting the amount people HODL and never circulate.

How will this affect the performance of Bitcoin as a digital world currency.

Will it cause banks not to have enough bitcoin in their reserves?

Will it affect a price adjustment on goods and how will it affect the economy as a whole?

Will there be a deflation in prices and will the value of Bitcoin be stable at some point and then become volatile because of this?

I am all for Bitcoin and I really understand the potential Bitcoin hodls for us down the line.

However I am not economist and would love to hear someone clarify this for me.  Thanks

The majority of the coins that have been lost were lost many years ago during the infancy of bitcoin.  Even though it is a lot i dont think many coins will be lost in the future because people will start to become more vigilant due to the increase in value.  However, the loss of 4m coins has definitely affected the price because the supply is so much less than what it could be.
62  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 3% loss 10% profit -> sell on: May 01, 2018, 07:03:16 PM
If I set a 3% loss on my initial investment as a stop loss and a 10% profit as a stop for selling, will that make me trade too often ?

I think a 3% stop loss and a 10% profit stop are too low margins for crypto investments.  A coin could drop 3% in a day and that would be considered completely normal and not out of the ordinary. I would bump the stop loss to 15% or more because these cryptos tend to swing a lot and you dont wanna have it liquidate your coins for such a small drop.
63  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How ethical is it? on: May 01, 2018, 07:00:58 PM
So, I have some bitcoinred (btcred). I received the new revolution or whatever coins. I am now trying to decide if I should sell my old btcred coins. They 0.20 USD a pop.
I do not want to sell something that if the buyer does not know that they are not valid anymore. On the other hand, you can never be sure. Maybe they wanna buy it anyway.
Any help on the ethical implications of selling an ended coin?

I would say its very unethical that your selling a discontinued coin.  However, it is being actively being traded on an exchange, and people are placing buy orders for 0.20 USD like you said then it would be ok to sell it on the exchange.  But from the looks of it seems like you would be making a deal with someone which would be unethical in my opinion.
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DECENTRALIZED OR CENTRALIZED? on: May 01, 2018, 02:26:11 AM

Many individuals agree and have the same opinion about bitcoin as decentralized digital asset, a system without a central bank or single administrator is more favourable.
But somehow, numerous citizens want also the bitcoin to be centralized, because others believes it can remove barricades and walls to allow more easily reached and democratized financial and economic infrastructure.
For you what is your own perspective regarding this matter?

Bitcoin would not be bitcoin if it was centralized.  The whole purpose behind bitcoin is to have a decentralized currency that is not controlled by any single entity or group so that the prices and supply are not manipulated.  If people want bitcoin to be centralized then there is purpose of them using it because they can just use the fiat in their designated countries.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN will be dead? on: April 30, 2018, 08:18:58 PM
HI GUYS, right now we've seen that bitcoin is very unstable , many people said that it will be dead sooner ? how come ? i cant stop laughing when i heard humors like this. FIRST OF ALL bitcoin is the first digital virtual crytocurrency that introduce in market . SECOND ALL COINS DEPEND ON THE PRICE OF BTC . THIRD MANY PEOPLE CHANGE THEIR LIVES BECAUSE OF THIS. FOURTH IM EARNING MORE THAN YOU DO IN YOUR COMPANY. have a happy tuesdays everyone.

I dont think bitcoin will ever die and neither will many altcoins based on the trends they have experienced over the years and the technology that they provide.  Bitcoin and crypto has proven to come back stronger and with higher prices after ever bear market.  During the bear markets a lot of pe.ople will say its the end of crypto but then a few months or even a few years later another bull run occurs and prices skyrocket
66  Economy / Economics / Re: Future of Cryptocurrency on: April 30, 2018, 08:06:34 PM
Have you heard that telegram created an internal cryptocurrency ? Imo this is the next big trend, I believe that amazon, google and facebook will follow that in the future, and Bitcoin will be dethroned

I think bitcoin has proven its worth throughout the years based on the sole fact that it was the first successful cryptocurrency.  I dont see bitcoin every being dethroned due to that fact and it will also be a stable of the cryptocurrency world.  With that being said i dont think bitcoin is the most useful crypto because it does not provide the functions that a coin like ethereum does.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Stock market on: April 30, 2018, 07:44:14 PM
Could bitcoin outdo investing/trading in stocks??

I dont really understand what you mean by outdo.  Theres nothing to outdo, theyr both different types of investments and as long as there is money to be made investors will flock to them and try to make their money.  I think both the crypto market and the stock market will exist side by side and people will continue to trade in both.
68  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC still not out of bear trendline? on: April 30, 2018, 07:35:30 PM
People said we broke the december down trendline but everyone is drawing it from the december upper wick down
If you ignore the wick this is what you get:

BTC seems to be reacting to it now and this would mean the down trend hasn't been broken yet.

Thoughts?

The real answer is that we dont know if we're out of the bear market or not.  The prices have slowed down a bit recently but the prices could spike to 10k+ (for btc) any day now.  They could also tank down back to 7k and even lower in the same time frame.  For us to be out of the bear market were going to have to see big gains over the next few weeks in order to reignite the hype.
69  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bearish trend is over on: April 30, 2018, 07:33:04 PM
Since bitcoin and the cryptocurrencies markets get into bearish trend since December 16, 2017 we have seeing alot of comments and post about people and traders asking were is the bottom and should we buy and hold?  I think personally, the downward trend is over when bitcoin push above $10,250 and $10,850 this morning!  The bullish trend has been trigger and bitcoin is going to break the December high of $19,000 and move above that level towards $25,000 before we can see another major bearish again. What did you think?

I honestly wouldnt say its over but i also wouldnt say that its not over.  The real answer is that we dont know because as of now crypto is not moving around a lot.  We did experience a little bump over the past few weeks but that hasnt been enough to even put as at 10k+ bitcoin yet.  I think to be out of the bear market we'll have to see around $15k btc.
70  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I don't care about the price now. Nobody knows how much my portfolio is worth on: April 30, 2018, 07:31:19 PM
I don't even look at the price anymore. Just looked today after a few days... Eth is now being negotiated at 480. LOL

Nobody knows how much my portfolio is worth. I will hold for a few years. I am not going to sell now, even if it were 10x more than it is now, so why would I care for the price now?

I really believe in the technology, I really like it, I am even studying it. I am not worried.

Prices are a little bit higher than they were when you made this post but i literally have the same mentality that you do.  I've been occupying myself a lot more recently and because of it ive just stopped caring about checking the price constantly.  This gives me a lot more peace of mind and help me do the important stuff i need to do throughout the day.
71  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are you all in when trading? on: April 30, 2018, 05:34:42 PM
This would produce the most gains , but if you predict wrong you could be stuck waiting for the price to either come back up or down to get back in. I did this the other day. I sold and bought back in at what I had predicted was going to be the next upswing. However some last second sellers swooped in and dropped the price below my limit. Then it just continued to fall from there. Now I sit and wait for the price to come back up to my purchase price so I can get back at it. I hate waiting. I get antsy. I should have left some money in reserve so I could have at least bought in at the bottom. I got greedy. Now I wait.  Sad

unfortunately, i am one of those people that goes all in when in trading and i think its definitely hindered my possible gains.  I've definitely been very lucky and put all my money into one coin and have it skyrocket but i've also been stuck with coins because they either went down or they stayed the same while other coins were experiencing a bull run.
72  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: was trading beneficial for you? on: April 30, 2018, 05:33:12 PM
For all the people who started trading with dreams to become rich.
How has your journey been so far.
Was there a net profit or loss till now.
Do mention from when you started trading and what amount in total did you loose or gain.
Also some mistakes that you would never repeat?

Trading has definitely been beneficial to me.  I've definitely made some money from it but im still way down from my peak which was due to my own greed.  But i've also learned many key principles of investing.  I've learned that no matter what happens to the price you should not panic and sell, plus even if the prices rise you should not fomo and buy in thinking its going to keep rising.
73  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Who else thinks crypto starts crashing as soon as i enter this market. on: April 30, 2018, 05:29:51 PM
Who else thinks that cryptocurrency market is crashing as soon as i/me entered the market

I think this do you? 😂

I've noticed that everytime someone new invests into crypto, the market takes a nose dive within the next month.  This may have to do with the investing gods trying to let us know that we should not be putting our money into such volatile investments.
Jokes aside, theres no way of knowing what the crypto market will do after you invest.  You might aswell just take the plunge now and deal with whats to come.
74  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Straight HODL vs Trading on: April 30, 2018, 04:38:10 PM
Personally I always recommend hodling for a newbie in Cryptos the other aspect which is trading is very risky although it is more profitable of which income can be generated within the shortest period of time unlike a hodler who have to wait for days to become profitable. why not hodl your coin as beginner while learning how to trade?

To be honest, i think holding is the best advice for newbies and or anyone who does not know how to trade or has not had success trading.  In my case, i've not had a lot of success trading/day trading and in many cases i ended up losing money.  So my main strategy for the time being is to hold through the bear market and then sell at what i think is a good price.
75  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: where do you get your predictions? on: April 29, 2018, 07:34:52 PM
hello!

for me being new to cryptocurrencies i would like to know from where do you get your predictions about the price of not just bitcoins but other cryptocurrencies?

I dont really ask anyone or get my predictions from anywhere, i just come up with them myself.  You cant really trust anyone when it comes to asking for trading advice because they might give you advice that serves their own interest.  If you want to make good decisions about your trades your gonna have to watch the market and choose a price to buy in at.
76  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin before April 27 on: April 29, 2018, 04:59:10 PM
Did you see that bounce in Bitcoin? You must be feeling great if you bought the dip on February 2, 2018 for around $6,000…Or maybe you missed that opportunity, simply because you don’t know how to get started. If that’s the case, don’t worry. Shocking news has broken about a huge multibillion-dollar company that has proven my findings to be right…Findings that could help anyone turn $100 into a retirement fortune…But there’s no time to waste, Because I expect it to happen as early as April 27. Don't think is too late to invest now, Make up your mind then buy some coin down now.

It's april 29th today and your predictions did not come true.  Do you have any evidence to back up your supposed claim or did you just come up with it in order to spread FUD.  You do realized that people are not that dumb and they wont buy just because you said they should.  You should really rethink your pump and dump strategies.
77  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading by follow signals. Is it good? on: April 29, 2018, 04:57:14 PM
Hi everyone, I'm just start trading and I don't have too much experience in chart or technical analyse. So I joined some signal groups with monthly fee. Is it good, in your opnion?
I hear about Alanmaster and his VIP signal, anyone hear about him or join his VIP member. Since I want to try so it's good if I have some feedback about it.
Thanks  Grin

I would highly advise against joining one of these groups, especially paying to be a part of one.  If you wanna learn to trade you could watch many free tutorial on youtube or you could use google to learn the information you need.  Furthermore, this group could be scamming you by giving you fake signals in order to pump and dump a coin at your loss.
78  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Next resistance at 9.7k. What are your thoughts on May movement? on: April 29, 2018, 04:55:09 PM
There is a lot of discussions going on if this is a bull-run, a bull-trap or consolidation. I don't think anyone really knows but maybe together we could figure some things out. Here are my thoughts:

  • Next major resistance for BTC is at 9700 USD. Already testing this once and had a drastic drop
  • Turned around at 8700 USD and have been steadily climbing since back over 9k. This shows continued strength

I think we are in a short-term consolidation between 8.7-9.7k where these two levels will determine a more middle-term trend on where BTC will go. If 9.7k is broken there is not much resistance until 11-12k so then we can expect a nice 15-20% gain. On the other hand if we go down below 8.7k then I think next level of resistance isn't until around 7.2-5k which is around 15-20% decrease. So the benefits/risks on either side are about equal so I am avoiding trading this until we can get a clear signal either way and I am also avoiding doing to much movement in my ALTs since this will be determined by BCT.

What are your thoughts?

I think it's very possible that we could break 9.7 especially since we were that high a few days ago.  Furthermore, the crypto market seems to be in a recovery phase, even if it has slowed down in the past few days, but i think that be experiencing bigger rises in the upcoming months.  With that being said, it is also very possible that this was just a bull trap and prices will keep crashing.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Eth Worth $30. Is it possible? on: April 29, 2018, 04:53:11 PM
I am hodling few coins in an exchange and do some trading. Cut losses were fine with me 'coz I'm a bit scared of high loss, I am just playing in a safety mode.

But, while many are happy with the eth's continuously pumping and traders are happy to see the market's optimistic view, I am still here waiting for the Eth to drops heavily like at least $30. So, I can buy some and will experience the fruits of eth's benefits as well.  Cool Is it possible now, to reached down it's value like that? Like hello? I've been waiting for a couple of months. Lol

Am I the only one here, in the contrary of patiently waiting for eth to dump like hell?

I dont think this is how you should be trading.  in my opinion, Ether will never hit $30 again unless there is something fundamentally wrong with the technology that renders it useless which in that case you wouldnt wanna buy it at any price.  What you should do, is you should accept the current prices and trade based off of them.  For example, if a big crash happens you can use that as an opportunity to buy.
80  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: the most profitable coin if invested? on: April 29, 2018, 04:48:16 PM
I am eager to invest for now. But, I am still confused which coin should I choose. so much of his coins are good to invest.
I just want to get the best coin among the good ones to invest ..
please me, give me feedback.  Huh

It's hard to tell which coins will be the most profitable but, from my experience, it's usually the cheaper altcoins which include ripple, OmiseGo and several others.  The reason why these coins could go up the most is because they almost always experience large percent changes during bull runs and during crashes.  This means that if you hold it during a bear market you could lose more and vice versa.
