Algo spec is 60 block per hours, so one block per minute. When in DATACOIN network only small rig with 5-6Khash start to mining, difficulty will start to rise . But when that rig left network, then problem is big: difficulty DOESNOT fall as was rise. And that is situation we have now. Difficulty is to high for this hash rate of whole network, and probably will need one or two months to get stable, to stabilize on 60 blocks per hour. That is main, and only problem this algo have. Could be fixed, I dont know, but it should be fixed
We want many good options and features. But any such patches require hardforks. It can be more simpler and meaningful not to make so much patches to dtc (it is difficult), but take anyone other already good coin and make fork by integrate datasaving functionality to it. I know dtc code. Such integration can be made fast and enough simple. But any way. Before trying it we need to make much preliminary work to define all needed features and options. It is needed to avoid any subsequent forks. If you have "cure" for "problem" I described, I assume that all miners of DTC would agree that must be first patch or fork. Why? Because with fork we all get much, much more "elastic" network, and network that can sustain on random enter of "big miners". And after "big" miner left, we dont need to wait as we wait now, but to network stabilize in fey days. From that behavior all profits, small or big miner. Lowering difficulty will give us all chance to get many DTC, but as always in past, profit will get only big miners! . Why? Because big miners on lower difficulty can mine 1M DTC in day or two, and small miner can mine in same time maybe 5000 DTC. Then big miner will go to only market, sell all, and dump the price. Small miner again get nothing. Since those 5K or 10K of DTC worth nothing. I am not for ( if lowering difficulty will become reality) to lower diff below 9.5 . Because of algo in difficulty 9.5 you can mine 3.5 x more blocks then on diff 9.9 Even that would not stop big miners to grab big piece of cake, but they could not mine as can mine on difficulty 5. So they will dump price again but that dump will not be big. And last, with only one market, and with such low buy cap, DTC can live for years, or some can pump and bump this coin. But that is beyond our reach. |

So, I've seen three or four 14-chains in the past month. Those have to be records, right?
If those are becoming more common, when can we realistically expect to start seeing higher ones-- like 16, 17, or 18 chains?
No 15 is record, and every new length of chain is far more to find.... |

Hi Team, Basic etching tests using Apertus on Datacoin 0.15.99.08 mainnet are looking good so far. The etching and the monitoring program are each using the latest DTC version and appear to stay synced during and after the data etch process. I'd like to do bigger stress-tests but my testnets do not appear to be syncing. This test is critical to see if the chain can handle repeated data entry on each block at a high load -- past chains have shown some instability after a heavy etch on two separate occasions -- knocking many wallets offline. When we show some success on testnet, I will do the same test on mainnet. Please share with me any peers that are on testnet at this time. If you do not have one online, please boot one up and let's make this happen. For proper development, we need a robust testnet. Since block reward time is 60 second, that mean network should resolve 60 blocks per hour. But if you count blocks in block explorer it is from 33 to 53 blocks per hours. So I dont know how your testing should affect network, but I hope network will survive! |

The block explorer is at times missing transactions. It needs to be rewritten and it's on our roadmap.

First to all : I need to say big thanks for your support on FB. I have problems with syncing wallet, and now I mine solo I need also to say, that you need to make small tutorial on solo mining with ccminer. If you like it, I can write it. Second, I was looking at block-chain explorer to see that my wallet is synced I found that this address CWZ1ntXrr3uo7aVhanMuX1TB2kussNhD1e mining with huge speed. And found blocks nearly every minute. It seems the dtc is designed to make rich the first miners, but not next miners.
It seems not very fair.
Dtc has no active development team.
It seems there are a few interested people. But they are not active developers. They just see, talk and wait.
There are a few big holders. And they don't want to change something. They prefer the dtc death then to lost their coins. They just see, talk and wait too.
Twitter site has many repeated and pretentious messages. I don't want to hurt somebody, but It is seems as scam. It is very bad for dtc reputation.
If nothing changed - dtc will die.

Of course you are right - those big holders are MarcusDE, OP (extro24), probably a few others. It's not a scam, but they are awaiting to revive their bags they were mining this whole time. When somebody has 1M+ or 200K+ DTC, they have of course a lot vested interest in reviving dollar value of their bags. So you know, if you dont have interest in it - you dont have any obligation towards them. I will support you in creating new coin, with same goals, you have done a lot of for DTC, and nobody really rewarded you. I'm not a big holder of DTC, but idea was interesting to keep around and see, how it will develop. Any cryptocoin worth big zero. We, users, peoples that mine , buy, trade, make some coins worth more then other coin. So if someone mine 1M of DTC and waiting, keep them waiting forever. No one here has any obligation to those persons. So lets they wait, and lets we here, make new coin and make something different, and make new coin some sense, some price. |

I dont know what is cost of making new coin ( I assume that must cost is getting market for new coin) but many coins died, and only few of them success. So if you are not obligated in any way to datacoin ( and you are not ), and since you write and develop wallets that are ultrastable and without virus warning at all, then I will first be to support you and new coin you make. I assume that new coin will be fork of data or primeccoin, so we already have miners, and already have wallets. Good for start. If someone will loose 11M coins then should be that way. At low difficulty it is not problem at all to have such sum of coin... |

Difficulty need to be half from today, so I can mine 50% more to get any profit with 70 sathosi per day.
If your break even price for mining is greater than the cost to buy them on the exchange - then you are being irrational mining them and should instead buy up surplus supply from the exchanges. 1. I can stop mining? And wait until price arise? Or I can stop selling, but continue to mining. Since difficulty is dropping, I will got higher amount of DTC in same time, 2. Why to buy coin that doesnot promise at all? It is like you throw money in the wind |

It is always mystery for me, we should ever some person HOLD 11M DTC and that is all he does. Just HOLD?

Second people always need to find way to become rich in one night. DTC will not be that coin, but also DTC has no support like Primecoin does. Some persons stay behind scene of Primecoin and make pump from time to time. Primecoin was just few months before like any other coin, and then someone decide to make it "great coin" pump price and we have situation like we have now. If somebody came here, and pump DTC price over night: we will have same.
Yesterday all is sold by upper price and today I sow another buy by 70 sathosi. But those amount of DTC is to low. Difficulty need to be half from today, so I can mine 50% more to get any profit with 70 sathosi per day.

Reason is quite simple: on nearly every coin I do solo mining in config file is always been set to 6666. So I guess that people are inert, so they just say: if it work on this it will work on second coin also. Is there any instruction for other coin to set rpcport=6666, the instruction you have followed? May be we need to change default pool port to another? I was active in mining before at last two years. Coin I mined in past are gone forever now. But , at least , by default,DTC wallet, your wallet is also set to 6666. Regardless fact I start it with C:\Users\Alpha-I7\Desktop\dtc_win_bin_0.15.99.08\datacoin-qt.exe datacoin-qt-frontport=8888 ( switch you recomended) miner start with port 6666 and if I was asked, no we need to change anything: it works perfectly. Few people ( from total number ) are mining solo: and even few of those small group have need to open two wallet in localhost: so in that case port will be problem: but they know how to fix it. By the way: your wallet was working perfectly, in localhost was mining with 24 GPU, on three rigs, connected with WIFI . Great job! |

Because we forget that this wallet have embedded mining pool. And config file have port 6666....you see confusion It is very little probability to set exactly rpcport=6666, not 6665, not 6667, not 12345, not any other number. Why 6666? Is there any reason why people set it exactly 6666? It is very interesting. Why, mister Anderson? Reason is quite simple: on nearly every coin I do solo mining in config file is always been set to 6666. Since Claymore make miner long time ago, and he use official build, it look like some part in miner is missing to got this option!
you need to use server modded wallet that has protobuf from old thread Great, but all those link was on mega , and not valid any more  Also, to ask few more thing: I was reading all old thread, and always is CPU mining case, not GPU mining ( since XPM on start was CPU coin) So server modded wallet will support GPU mining? And at the end, does anybody has copy of those files, and also any instruction how to use? that old thread is gpu mning only not cpu the code is on github just compile it just fyi on it though it can lose sync on ip changes and you cant use debug/console with it and crashes on exit also fyi in primecoin we use cpu with gpu Can you compile it for me? |
