61  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Bitmain new S19 pro firmware "enhanced by 13.6%, reaching 25.5J/T!" on: December 17, 2022, 09:41:47 PM
Looks like Bitmain might have accidentally released the new firmware for S19 Hydro models, a few days early.
The currently listed firmware for hydro models on their firmware page is from Dec 15th, 2022.
https://imgur.com/a/0vVM401
I don't have any hydros, but those who do might be able to provide more details on efficiency improvements.
62  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Better efficiency coming to your S19 from Bitmain on: December 14, 2022, 09:14:14 PM
This is probably just an undervolting firmware that will run at lower hashrate but higher efficiency.
63  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Investing in solar power and miners on: December 14, 2022, 04:55:11 AM
Solar almost never makes sense. Why do you want to do this?
Coal is basically solar energy, that was converted into plant matter through photosynthesis. Nothing wrong with using hydrocarbons.
64  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Suggest me the best mining rig on my situation on: December 14, 2022, 04:52:24 AM
You can buy a s19 and undervolt it with aftermarket firmware to use around 1300 watts to stay under your monthly 1000 kwh target. You will probably get 50Th or so on a s19 with that undervolting.
65  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Facility Spec question on: December 14, 2022, 04:46:13 AM
I've got an airflow sizing calculator up on this article
https://altairtech.io/designing-a-bitcoin-mining-facility-airflow-management/
It is complex, but as a rule of thumb about 1 sqft per s19 is a good estimate. So for 100 miners you'd need 100 sqft or 10 m2. If your windows do not have enough surface area, you can increase air intake area by creating awning based intakes (details in article).

You have humid and cold air, so you'll have to allow for some backflow to prevent condensation.
As far as filters go, here's a supplier we have used for a while https://www.hoodfilters.com/20-x-20-x-1-ez-kleen-mesh-supply-intake-filter-912.html

66  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Farm Design , Suggestions Needed. on: December 07, 2022, 03:21:19 AM
I compiled a lot of information that was floating on the interwebs, along with my own engineering and design experience to draft a comprehensive guide on bitcoin mining farm design.
Part 1 is focused on airflow handling. It also includes a handy calculator for sizing exhaust and intake area.

67  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: November 20, 2022, 09:24:38 PM
Did you set up some type of active cooling to cool the heatsink? Its pretty much required with these devices.
68  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: October 16, 2022, 06:48:42 PM
At AltairTech.io we recently started carrying GekkoScience products.
You can find them here https://altairtech.io/product-category/miners/gekkoscience/
Right now we have limited stock purchased from sidehack, but we plan to purchase more of these for retail sales as they become available.
The pictures shown are of the actual product.
Everything ships from our St. Louis, MO location within 24 hours of order.

70  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Anyone else experiencing high DOA rate on new Whatsminers? on: June 08, 2022, 07:25:33 PM
I'm mining with ViaBTC Pool.
This is a hardware issue that i don't think is related to the pool. I have to remove the one problematic hashboard to make the miner work on the remaining hashboards.
71  Bitcoin / Hardware / Anyone else experiencing high DOA rate on new Whatsminers? on: June 08, 2022, 06:08:24 PM
About 30% of the new whatsminers we've purchased over the last few months are DOA on one hashboard (typically error 540, 541 and 542).
We started purchasing whatsminer in 2020 after the Antminer S17 series reliability issues, but it appears that whatsminers are having the same issues now.
Anyone else notice a drop in quality from MicroBT?

We however hold all our inventory in US and do not do any dropshipping.
74  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bonanza on: April 25, 2022, 02:36:58 AM
The key to stress free operation is minimizing your operating cost. A lot of the operating cost is power, so getting cheap power is critical.
If you are a low cost producer of bitcoin due to cheap power and efficient mine management, you are not all that affected by price fluctuations.
Difficulty adjusts with price and when price goes down, its usually the high cost producers of bitcoin that are forced to stop mining.
75  Bitcoin / Mining support / Is there a way to disable one hashboard on Whatsminer M30s? on: April 02, 2022, 03:26:53 AM
So we have multiple m30s units that have a problem with one hashboard. Something like 'error 542- Slot 2 loss balance'.
Miners with this type of issue, seems to get into a never ending, restart loop and don't hash on any hashboard, even though the problem is with just one board.
We realized that we can physically remove the problem hashboard from the miner, and then the unit starts hashing on the remaining 2 hashboards.
However physically removing hashboards takes time, and messes up the air flow dynamics inside the unit.

Anyone know if there's an easier way to 'disable' one problem hashboard on whatsminers without having to physically remove the hashboard.

77  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why American chip makers like Intel have not released a Bitcoin miner? on: February 20, 2022, 09:47:57 PM
Intel doesn't have a good mobile phone chip either.
They are just behind in everything that's now datacenter or PCs.
78  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Getting Started. Want to pre-order first ASIC. on: January 03, 2022, 04:04:40 AM
Here's are few places where a lot of people buy their miners in the US.
-Scott Offord (https://www.scottofford.com/contact/)
-kaboomracks(https://kaboomracks.com/)
-mineFarmBuy (http://minefarmbuy.com/)
-whatsminer.net  (drop ships whatsminers from China)

We at Altair Mining are a US based miner and we list a limited number of our miners at our retail store https://altairtech.io/store/
These are used units that are currently located in our St. Louis mine and they ship pretty fast.
Good Luck!
79  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S19 custom performance settings; alternative firmware? on: December 27, 2021, 04:14:35 AM
Apparently asic.to has released a beta version of Antminer S19 firmware that gives its it a 40% boost without immersion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZs9RhDGP0E

Can't wait for this firmware to release, so we can get our hands on it.
80  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S19 or Whatsminer M20/30 on: December 27, 2021, 04:07:19 AM
I have a M20s which only hashes on 1/3 hashboards if you're interested in buying that.
We also sell M30 series control boards here https://altairtech.io/product/microbt-whatsminer-m30-m31-m32-control-board-cb4-v10-h6os-4p-fan-socket/
