61  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 30, 2024, 09:52:31 PM
It usually difficult to see a game that Chelsea would play recently without conceiving a goal, Chelsea is really not doing well at all with their performance, even a game that they're supposed to win but they won't win, this is very annoying. Pochettino really needs to improve on his tactics because he can't be doing same thing over and over again and expect a different result.

This was a game Chelsea could have won and claimed all 3 points. I surely didn’t envisage Burnley equalizing after Chelsea scored each goal. The game was interesting as we saw some good goals from both sides but unfortunately for Chelsea, they couldn’t claim the win despite dominating the match.
Also, it’s quite embarrassing as Chelsea had the upper hand with Burnley being a man down but still couldn’t utilize the opportunity they had to put in enough goals to give them the win.
It probably wouldn’t have surprised me if Burnley had went on to score another goal to win the game.

The problems that could rise from addiction would tire even the family members of the person addicted if the person doesn’t seek help. The financial burden along with others issues could be overwhelming for everyone around. And that’s why it’s best to seek help anyway possible.

An addiction could only be hidden for a while. It would reveal itself in time to your friends and family and perhaps due to the addicts character and most importantly, financial difficulties.
If you’ve got a friend that’s addicted to gambling, it’s best you ask such a person to seek help and if that’s not forthcoming, you’ve got to notify the family. You alone cannot deal with the problems that is associated with a gambling addict.

You’ve got a point OP. Perhaps people aren’t fully aware of the negative effects that could affect their lives and the people around them. But then again, that’s why gambling as an activity isn’t meant for immature minds and that’s why there’s an age limit to it.
Sadly, people that should be mature enough still get snatched in the claws of addiction. And personally, I don’t think gambling companies could care any more for people that get addicted to the activity. Perhaps they like people getting addicted as they would remain in business, making profit.

Creating awareness about gambling addiction is better left to individuals and bodies who care. Gambling companies do not and wouldn’t do much to curb the problem.
65  Economy / Economics / Re: Church Business on: March 29, 2024, 04:51:55 PM
Religion is used as a tool by man to gain power and all that comes with it. It really shouldn’t be surprising that certain people of questionable characters, having overtime seen the lifestyle and wealth in possession of these “religious leaders”, has recognized the gains from being a religious leader, would want to also become one.

I don’t know what discussion you seek to get with your topic. The Bible predicted fake prophets and asides the predictions, It’s obvious there are fakes amongst the lot. As religion is personal, just do what you know to be the right thing in your life and ignore what others do with theirs. You’ll feel much better minding your business and focusing on your own life.
66  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why in some religion gambling is forbidden? on: March 29, 2024, 03:53:55 PM
In some cases religion will clash with civil law.

This is particularly an important issue with migrants because they bring different religions and cultures that might not be aligned with the laws of the host country.

Not sure what you can do in those places because religion and law for each person is seen as the most important thing.

Hard problem to solve in my opinion.

Religion is personal and should remain so. Religious laws ordinarily shouldn’t clash with the laws of the land as there are totally different and religious laws and beliefs shouldn’t be considered common law that would bind everyone irrespective of their religious beliefs.

If a nation is overly religious, having a recognized state religion that boasts of about 90% of the population, then that’s when religious laws could clash with civil law. In situations like this, the civil laws are majorly formed from religious laws and principles.

It’s not really a hard problem to solve. Migrants looking to seek a better life In a particular country that’s overly religious would have to adapt and learn the customs and way of life of such a country.
67  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who can you trust more to handle your business, man or woman? on: March 29, 2024, 02:17:57 PM
The thought of picking someone to successfully manage and run your business based primarily on gender is ridiculous. If arguments are being made today on what gender is best suited to manage a business, then we’ve still haven’t fully left the past behind us and such arguments as well as the individuals making them are irrelevant and redundant.

If you want your business to succeed and thrive amongst competitors, then you should reconsider filling managerial roles based on gender. You should fill vacancies based on qualifications and/or skill set and not having to choose based on gender. I thought that much is obvious and need not to be talked about.

This isn’t the ancient times anymore where people were openly and proudly bigots.
68  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: March 29, 2024, 01:38:11 PM

Some people who keep their gambling a secret, in my opinion, are people who don't want to take risks, because I myself do it like that, I don't want anything that could trigger conflict with the gambling I do. Therefore, keeping the gambling you do a secret, including the winnings you get, is good.

Keeping your gambling habit equals not wanting to take risks? Not necessarily so. People who keep their gambling habits a secrets perhaps don’t want their affairs out and about in the public. Risks has nothing to do with keeping your affairs private as you could always and at anytime, take same huge risks privately as others publicly do without anyone knowing about it.
I’m a big fan of keeping your affairs private, only sharing to those friends and family close enough and who deserve to have certain information about your activities.
69  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been kicked out of a casino? on: March 28, 2024, 11:56:43 PM

Have you been in this situation before?
It's a pleasure to hear your story.

Thankfully, I haven’t yet been kicked out of a casino before for any reason as I don’t think I would ever do anything that would have security throwing my ass outside and on the street.
People banned for violating terms and conditions either knowingly or not as well as the people being unruly and perhaps aggressive  are the ones being shown the door along with some restrictions placed on them.
Some don’t actually have to be worried about getting kicked out as not everyone behaves unruly and irresponsible whenever gambling.
70  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does gambling excites you ? on: March 28, 2024, 10:38:27 PM

Does gambling excites you? What motivates you, winning or just the fun in it ?

I wouldn’t say totally it excites me whenever wanting to  gamble. The activity could be thrilling no doubt but I don’t look forward to gambling with excitement.
Perhaps if you talk about the excitement had when having won one or more of your bets. The gambler would surely be excited and motivated to play some more if the outcome turns out in their favor.
The emotions gotten from gamblers as well as what motivates them is simply positive outcomes in games they’ve placed bets on.
71  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streamer's fan took his own life due to addiction on: March 28, 2024, 12:37:07 PM

Casino promoters like streamers or others shouldn't be blamed in such cases, in my opinion. Only if more than 50% of their followers were committing suicides they should be blamed.

I agree. People should realize that it’s mainly our choices that lead us to where we are presently. We could be influenced and motivated to take some actions you ordinarily wouldn’t,, but in the end, no one actually forced the individual to take those actions that led to suicidal thoughts and behavior. We should consider being more responsible for our actions and not try to run away from the outcome.

It may become a big problem for the influencer and perhaps the platform itself being used when 50% and upwards of his fans and followers become suicidal after having listened and encouraged by the streamer to do whatever.
72  Economy / Economics / Re: Insurance is important on: March 24, 2024, 06:45:33 PM
Life insurance provides financial security.

I beg to differ. I thought a little about it and wasn’t still convinced. I simply don’t see how life insurance  provides financial security in any way. How does one having a life insurance policy affect his income levels positively enough to be financially secure? It just doesn’t.
Having a life insurance on someone could guarantee some payment on the demise of the individual but that still doesn’t provide financial stability.
73  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Interested to learning on: March 24, 2024, 05:29:00 PM
Op, here is a book that can help you understand better what Bitcoin entails, and it can also help you understand the technical aspects of it. When I first joined this forum, this is the book that helped my understanding on the entire concept of cryptography and the decentralized nature of Bitcoin. I believe if you read and understand it word for word, you'll be able to grab a lot from it. However in as much as you have come for the knowledge there are other things like forum rules that still need to be ready and obeyed because the consequences of disobeying the rule are tags or complete ban from the forum.

I don’t know if you noticed, but you didn’t actually put down the name of the supposed book you are talking about. You’ve got good reviews for the book that aroused my interest and then boom! A vital important information, the name of the book is missing.

You're absolutely right, establishing a very big business is also part of investment. "investment" as the name may imply isn't talking about cryptocurrency alone, the word "investment" is very broad.
For example:
-Building a house for rent is investment.
-Establishing a business is also part of investment.
-buying of coin is also investment, but you need to look for profiting coin to buy.
There are so many of them, but depending on your choice everyone has different ideals and thought.

Investment could be simply said to be any project that could bring in some level of income for the person. It isn’t limited and can be everything you mentioned and more.
And I don’t think anyone would think about just cryptocurrency when investments are being talked about.
74  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done something crazy to bet? on: March 24, 2024, 04:31:54 PM
Yeah, I think you make a great point in focusing on entertainment.

If a gambler is not entertained, then there's no point in doing it in my mind.

The most probable outcome will be to lose money, so might as well have some fun while doing it.

There’s little point in indulging in the activity if you don’t get some form of entertainment from it. You’re more likely to lose money than to win some so there’s little point if you’re playing just for the money. Perhaps having constant hopes of winning some big money someday keeps people going.

I wasn’t one to skip school then to go gamble and I haven’t really done anything crazy in order to place bets; There wasn’t any reason to.
75  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling mistake repeated by the gamblers on: March 24, 2024, 03:51:49 PM
A mistake that most gamblers keep repeating is gambling again and again even after incurring losses in each passing session, whereas they should become moderate with their gambling activities and should keep reducing their budget and time they spend on gambling after each losing session.

The desire to have a win is huge in perhaps all gamblers. And someone who’s content would pack his bags and head home after either having had a big win or a loss. After winning a considerable amount, the temptation to continue playing in hopes of winning much more often creeps in. It would be wise if you could stop if you can, head home with the winnings already in the bag.
One is more likely while chasing losses or trying to win some more, to lose more money than to win some more. Having a budget for your gambling activities would greatly help. It wouldn’t hurt also for the individual to learn to be content. A content man is more likely to walk out with some winnings than to continue in the hunt for more.
76  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A mistake you would surely regret on: March 24, 2024, 03:20:21 PM
It still baffles me on how “influencers” could actually influence some amongst their followers to invest their money in some new and unknown alt coin that would end up being worthless. Perhaps the influencers don’t really need to do much influencing, the unrealistic assumption on the opportunity to make some big money fast would make people willingly falls for such scammy projects.

If you’re unsure of what coin to put your money in, it’s best to go with what’s known all over and familiar(bitcoin). And like always, put what you could afford to lose.
77  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Always check the deposit address on: March 24, 2024, 02:12:01 PM
You were quite lucky the casino was reasonable enough to credit your new address after being shown some proof. After using the same wallet address for about 3 years, I can understand using the same address without having to verify it. You should have been notified that your wallet address has been changed. Why they decided to change it without you requesting for the change after almost 3 years is beyond me.
It could be considered a chore to some impatient people, but it’s important and always advisable to always double check the receiving address to make sure you’re sending to the right address.
78  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Friendly Match is Hard to Predict on: March 24, 2024, 01:18:04 PM
Friendlies could be difficult to predict. The game could go either way in football but with friendlies, it could be more difficult to predict a winner.
Teams aren’t always concerned about winning friendlies as there’s no trophy nor title to be won and I don’t think it really affects their rankings. I haven’t placed a bet and don’t think I’ll be moved anytime soon to place bets on a friendly match. Unless, they’re actually trying to win the game, I don’t see any team using their first choice of players for a friendly game. They’re more likely to use perhaps a mixture of players who enjoys playing time and others who don’t normally have a lot of playing time.
79  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: March 23, 2024, 06:06:04 PM
Denial is one of the traits or should I say attributes that follows an addicted person, not all gamblers have the will power to admit that they are actually suffering from gambling problems and hiding a problem just makes it harder because the solution to the problem too will be far from coming. In all the times I have being with gambler who have such problems, I have come to realize that it's actually a common thing for such people but the only way to get to them is to act directly to the problem without you waiting for them to admit to the addiction issue.

Denial steps in when the individual isn’t ready to accept the responsibility and outcome of where his/her actions has led them to. And in most cases, it’s really difficult to get an addicted person to readily admit his/her addiction problems.
When someone that’s addicted admits on having a problem, such person has unwittingly taken the first step towards quitting such habits and has hopped on the road towards getting better. You can’t get better if you don’t first acknowledge the problem as no one would readily and openly accept to being an addict.
That’s pretty much why it’s common amongst addicts. No one is ready to admit to being an addict even while being one.
80  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: March 23, 2024, 03:40:34 PM
The match between Manchester city and Real Madrid is really an unpredictable game to me ,both teams are in their current forms, and when considering the strength of the team, the quality of players in there and the category of managers involved in the team too, they are both experienced coaches when it comes to the Champions league competition ,Therefore, to me, this game is a matter of who utilizes their opportunity well will become victors in that game.

The game would be a tough one, that’s for sure. It would be quite difficult to predict correctly a possible outcome as both teams are champions in their respective leagues.
Personally, I would be rooting for Man City to win the game and I think they’ve got what it takes to win but Real Madrid isn’t a small team that could be walked over either and they’ve got a good record playing in the championship league.
Also, Real Madrid has a knack for winning important and deciding games like these. Like you noted, It all comes down to whoever can utilize their skills and opportunities to score more goals.
