61  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos is a good source of crypto knowledge on: April 29, 2023, 11:43:11 AM
He's the OG. Very trustable. Probably some of the best opinions in the space, period. Love the guy. That said, he hasn't been producing much content of late, I'm not entirely sure why that is.
Of course, his knowledge is outstanding and when he detected Bitcoin very early, it showed already, how educated he is to see Bitcoin and anticipate how successful it will become.
His knowledge as a Computer Scientists helps him to understand Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology even better and what I like most from Andreas Antonopoulos to explain Blockchain knowledge easy to normal people, who are not coders.

I don’t know why he’s less active right now but after following Bitcoin for 10 years, he might need a bit vacation because it might be stressful and after his achievements from Andreas Antonopoulos about Blockchain education, his vacation is well deserved.  Smiley
62  Other / Beginners & Help / Andreas Antonopoulos is a good source of crypto knowledge on: April 28, 2023, 04:50:31 PM
For doing our research about Bitcoin, we need to make a detailed research, where it is really essential to have accurate sources. A lack of accurate sources or even inaccurate sources can be very dangerous when disinformation based on a lack of knowledge is shared. It is a big problem on Twitter, where much disinformation is shared and not removed.
We need to find accurate sources based on fact and from experts, possibly even from coders who are coding around Bitcoin itself (or can read Bitcoin’s code to understand it).
But we also need a good explanation, understandable for normal people who are not coders.

A very good source in my opinion is Andreas Antonopoulos, he’s a very experienced, greek Computer Scientist and he can can explain complicated topics very well, to make it easier to understand for normal people.

Andreas Antonopoulos has written a good book, called “Mastering Bitcoin”

Maybe you have heard from his book “Mastering Bitcoin” where he describes Bitcoin’s details. It’s a book mostly for coders but his first 2 chapters are also informative for normal people. Andreas Antonopoulos has made his book available on GitHub:
https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/blob/develop/ch01.asciidoc
https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/blob/develop/ch02.asciidoc
I like his offer to make his book available to everyone because Andreas Antonopoulos is acting non-profit, he is not greedy, which is very good in my opinion.

Andreas Antonopoulos has a big website

Andreas Antonopoulos has a big website, too, where he links all his content: https://aantonop.com/

I won’t go into detail here but I’m sure you’ll find interesting content on his website.
A very interesting part for Beginners in addition to his book is his glossary about common crypto words. In his glossary, Andreas Antonopoulos gives a very short but on point description of common crypto words: https://aantonop.com/glossary/

Andreas Antonopoulos is also known for his historical video, where he explained Bitcoin over 10 years ago to an almost empty audience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywO0r_Fz0lc
People like Andreas Antonopoulos have been very important to educate about Bitcoin, keep it sane and explain it to normal people.

Andreas Antonopoulos is truly a very knowledgeable source of crypto, where everyone will find helpful content.
We should also recommend him as a sane source of crypto knowledge.  Smiley

Maybe it is just Elon Musk trying to boost his bags of shit coins, which he did several times already.
When Elon Musk is launching a new idea, it is always self-centered to bring him a profit.

Elon Musk seems to be be a con man. Few years ago, he really seemed to be innovative, when he cared about Space X and Tesla.
But he was overestimated and screwed up a lot lately.
It's really a pity, what Elon Musk did lately because it's not sustainable.
I don't expect his new idea is an honest idea.
64  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is "Mastering Bitcoin" from Andreas Antonopoulos suited for normal people? on: April 15, 2023, 03:55:03 PM
The book is on Github, so why not skim it a little and see if getting a physical copy makes sense for you? Smiley

https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook
Hello!

Wow, nice to have his book publicly available.
I was a little bit confused at first because I just saw his code pieces but his book is available below and even I can read his chapters.
I'll look into it, if it's understandable to me.  Smiley

Of course, if you have some basic knowledge of at least one programming language, some parts will seem more "straight forward"
I can't code, Sir.

but if you are a complete beginner, the first chapters are accessible to absolutely everyone who has some knowledge of technology.
Of course, I'll look into it, if it's understandable to me.  Smiley

perhaps you can elaborate more on why you want to read it? Perhaps if we'll know the purpose someone here will recommend a better/more suitable read? As it was mentioned here already - the first 2 chapters are more suited for the general public.
Because I want to read a really educated person explaining Bitcoin in detail.  Smiley

65  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is your ideal cryptocurrency? Why? on: April 10, 2023, 05:24:41 PM
Ideal cryptocurrency for me is a cryptocurrency, where we have:

1. Educated coders /developers bulding it
It is extemely important.
Because a good code is really fundamental for a good coin and in addition, every coin will face challenges.

Educated coders /developers should have huge knowledge in crypto, coding and computer science because because it is essential to code a secure and fast blockchain. If such developers don't make a good code, such coins can be hacked and coins will be lost and lose value because of price dump.

If it’s a bad dev, every coin, even if it's good idea, can fail quickly.
And if it does not fail immediately, it will fail later because a bad developer won't be able to react appropriately to challenges.

2. Good and established code
Many projects are still new and unproven. While it can happen to every project to become successful eventually, early projects have a high possibility for fail. Selecting already proven cryptocurrencies will be less risky for us because such projects are already reviewed and proven.
Bitcoin and Ethereum have experienced already huge reviews by independant coders.
66  Other / Beginners & Help / Is "Mastering Bitcoin" from Andreas Antonopoulos suited for normal people? on: April 10, 2023, 05:12:05 PM
Andreas Antonopoulos is a very educated source about Bitcoin. I’ve heard about his book “Mastering Bitcoin” and have a question if it’s also suited for average people like me (who aren’t coders / computer scientists)?
Has someone read it completely and can tell?

I like Andres Antonopoulos but I just want to ask because it would be sad if I might don’t understand most parts of his book because it might be directed at coders or computer scientists, mostly.

Is “Mastering Bitcoin” also a good read for people who don’t have any coder knowledge?
I’m happy to hear your reply and plz add if your are a coder or not + have read his book “Mastering Bitcoin” or not.

Greetings

67  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: @Active Members of Bitcointalk: Why have you created an Account here? on: April 02, 2023, 11:04:43 AM
International contributions on Cryptotalk have stopped almost completely but Russian replies are still very active, I don't know why.
Probably Yobit is not seen more international traffic
Activity dropped suddenly, over a few weeks almost no activity was recorded anymore. I believe it was due to stopping incentivized posts but I don't know. I've never signed up at YoBit, so I also don't know how it worked to get incentivized. I didn't see any announcement, too.
I seemed to be very suspicious but Cryptotalk had a good design and was easy to make a post.

If you search about Bitcoin and find forum for Bitcoin discussions, I am sure with you a first search result would be Bitcointalk.org because it is a biggest forum for Bitcoin talk/ discussions.
I saw it but I didn't know if it was still updated and I was not sure if normal people are eligible to have a sign up at Bitcointalk if we are not core coders.
I just signed up at different forums first and overally, my experience wasn't bad but after reading more on Bitcointalk, I later signed up here for reasons stated above in my OP.
68  Other / Meta / Re: Tool for seeing members in ranks? on: April 02, 2023, 10:56:44 AM
Is there any handy tools to see individually how many legendary or hero or senior and all other members are in forum ?

DdmrDdmr's Merit Dashboard has it in a table for Forum ranks.
https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/ddmrddmr/viz/BitcointalkMeritDashboard/PersonalSummary
Is it accurate or did I just miss to look it up properly? Section Ranked-up?
From our profile link url, we can see how Bitcointalk must have almost 4 million members but on your linked site, section ranked-up only 20k Members are listed?
69  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: @Active Members of Bitcointalk: Why have you created an Account here? on: April 02, 2023, 10:47:43 AM
The first that I knew was Cryptotalk, full of shit posts and they stop paying English posters.
It was very disappointing. At some point, my topics got hit from meaningless spam.  Cheesy

I joined this forum and this forum is better.
Yes, Bitcointalk is much more professional.

I wanted to join Altcoinstalk but I saw it not different from the altcoin boards on this forum.
You are right, Altcoinstalks is similar to Bitcointalk's Altcoin section.
But here in Bitcointalk, it is much bigger, especially a good Beginners and Help.

- how you detected Bitcointalk,
Take a look at this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5262967, it'll definitely answer your questions as well as learn something gold from other people.
Wow, it's really a big topic.

Cryptotalk
Cryptotalk was a very active forum where many members made contributions but most of it has been spam, probably due to Cryptotalk incentivizing posts.
...
Plus, as far as I know, I think it is related to Yobit? Yoshit?
You are right, Cryptotalk is not an independent forum and it seems to be run by Russian scammers (or at least shady people). International contributions on Cryptotalk have stopped almost completely but Russian replies are still very active, I don't know why.
I don't want to make prejudgement against Cryptotalk and I'm sorry if my claims are wrong but it really looks like it is run by shady people.
70  Other / Beginners & Help / @Active Members of Bitcointalk: Why have you created an Account here? on: April 02, 2023, 09:45:43 AM
Hello @everyone!

I'm very curious for your reasons, why you've signed up at Bitcointalk, created an Account here and are an active member of Bitcointalk by writing content regularly.

Previously, I have been active a little bit in Crypto forums to do my own research, share my research and ask questions but after a short time, I was a bit disappointed of most Crypto forum members because many replies haven't been useful at all.
Let me explain some examples:

Cryptotalk
Cryptotalk was a very active forum where many members made contributions but most of it has been spam, probably due to Cryptotalk incentivizing posts. Last year, posts stopped to be incentivized and suddenly, no one wrote posts anymore. I just wondered why my new topics didn’t get any replies anymore.
Cryptotalk is dead now.
Even when it was active, most replies were of very low quality. Very disappointing.

Altcoinstalks
Altcoinstalks is very different from Cryptotalk as it's an independent forum, similar like Bitcointalk. I have presented quite a few researches on Altcoinstalk, but discussions haven’t been very insightful but more insightful compared to Cryptotalk, of course. Biggest disadvantage from Altcoinstalks: Activity has been very low and for many topics only few replies have been left.
Very big issue of Altcoinstalk as well: it is focused on Altcoins and many useless Altcoins such like Tron or Ripple are shilled. Criticism of such coins is bashed.
Not a good showing to push such fraudulent coins.

Quite contrary to Cryptotalk and Altcoinstalks, my research often led me to Bitcointalk on different topics, where I always found helpful information. Most likely, it is due to many coders being active here on Bitcointalk and as we know, coders have a fantastic knowledge about Bitcoin. But even more important is to explain it in an understandable way to normal people, similar to Andreas Antonopoulos, who’s a very experienced Computer Scientist and can explain complicated topics very well, to make it easier to understand for normal people like us.
I haven't created an Account on Bitcointalk until recently, because I was very busy but after reading more on Bitcointalk, I decided to sign up here.
Content is very insightful on Bitcointalk, where I have found comments made by Satoshi, historical content summarized by xtraelv and also topics from fillippone were very helpful for me.
I also want to emphasize our active coders on Bitcoin Technical Discussion explaining difficult content in an easy way for normal people.
I can say it's been a good decision to sign up on Bitcointalk and will continue to look up interesting content here, ask questions or share my research.

If you want to share your reasons,

- why your decision to be active here was in favor of Bitcointalk
or
- how you detected Bitcointalk,

feel free to explain here.
I’m looking forward for your responses.  Smiley

71  Economy / Economics / Re: Money as a store of value... on: April 02, 2023, 09:33:47 AM
Bitcoin as a store of value is a great opportunity for Bitcoin to get more people wanting to hold it.
Because imagine you can have a money, where it's value is stable (or even a little bit inflation every year) or you have a money of limited supply, where value is likely to increase a little bit every year (Bitcoin).
In addition, Bitcoin as a store of value is also a good reason for many shops to accept Bitcoin.
A good store of value is also a good money, if it's easily portable and divisible. It's a very iportant point also for money, because Gold is also a store of value but not suited as a money because it's not easily portable and divisible.
72  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Searching good sources of Bitcoin's fundamentals on: April 02, 2023, 09:26:28 AM
You can give Mastering Bitcoin by Andreas Antonopoulos a try if you want to. One version is available on GitHub.
https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/blob/develop/book.asciidoc

Andreas also created a Bitcoin for Beginners playlist on YouTube.

Nice suggestion.
I have heard from Antonopoulos, he’s a very experienced Computer Scientist and can explain complicated topics very well, to make it easier to understand for normal people
It is great to have him added in my list and I will bookmark it.

Our forum mate fillippone created a solid collection of blogs and videos.

It looks also like interesting content, bookmarked.

You are right, not your keys not your coins is very important.
Also bookmarked your content.

I am still going through taproot workshop myself.

Unfortunately I don't think simple explanations will cut it, there is no simple way to explain what is going on and be honest about it at the same time in my opinion. Bitcoin is complex and extremely important.

To be extra honest I think what you are asking for is inherently an oxymoron, fundamentals that are simple are simple to break. Most of the Bitcoin network's security is based on Elliptic Curve Discrete Log Hardness, the only way you can simplify that is saying "really hard math" but that obviously says nothing about what is really happening.
It seems to be very technical content and I’m not a coder at all but will bookmark it as well and see if I can understand it.

Nice to have so many suggestions from you.  Smiley

73  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be greedy – a short goose story on: March 28, 2023, 03:54:15 PM
This is not greed, it is just ignorance.
No, it is greed but reasons of greed are very numerous.
Making profits and wrongly believing to be able to make more profits is also an issue of greed.
Because many people have made profits and mant to make even more but such people will eventually end up making a loss after all, which is very sad of course.
It is greed.
74  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Searching good sources of Bitcoin's fundamentals on: March 28, 2023, 03:35:39 PM
Hello everyone!
I'm not a coder personally, but in my opinion, doing a research on Bitcoin's fundamentals is very important for everyone because of many aspects:
- understanding how Bitcoin works and what makes it better compared to Altcoins
- preventing costly mistakes resulting from a lack of knowledge about Bitcoin

I'm currently searching for interesting blog posts about Bitcoin's fundamentals written by coders but written in an understandable way for average people (who are not coders).

So far, in my list is for example:
- MURCH and his website: https://murch.one/ (but he's not very active)
- JAMESON LOPP and his website: https://www.lopp.net/bitcoin-information.html (he's very atice but it's very technical sometimes for coders)

I also know about Bitcoin Stack Exchange and Bitcointalk of course, but I don't know if it's always a good source because everyone can reply (I don't know if some people are not educated enough).

I'm looking forward to your contributions.
I just want to look for Bitcoin's fundamentals for now, what is important for average people to know.  Smiley
75  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be greedy – a short goose story on: March 26, 2023, 04:37:19 PM
We have to prevent ourselves not to be greedy and because greedy is part of human nature so there's nothing we can do about it but to never getting greedy.
We need education to avoid greed and don't fall for it.
Success is defined by knowledge + experience and in crypto, greed is a very common cause of failure.
We can only avoid greed when we really know greed is not beneficial at all in crypto. Is doesn't matter if it's a risky ICO, risky coin or risky trade. We need to be aware of it.
Greed will lead us to bad decisions and cause a big loss for us.
76  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: March 26, 2023, 04:30:49 PM
Denmark 2 - 3 Kazakhstan

the game ended a few minutes ago, this is a result that left me very surprised since denmark is a very good team on paper, when looking at the last 4 games of these two teams we can see that denmark did better than kazakhstan , kazakhstan failed to win any game in the last 4 games, denmark was coming from a victory for this game and in this game denmark was leading 2 - 0 until the 73rd minute, which is shocking and unbelievable is that kazakhstan scored 2 goals in less than 4 minutes, until the 73rd minute the result of the game was 2 - 1, but in the 66th minute the Kazakhstani scored the second goal and the game was tied, in the 69th minute (3 minutes later) the Kazakhstani scored the third goal and won the game. and something unbelievable
Your claim is not true!
Kazakhstan's goals 2 and 3 were scored after Kazakhstan scored its first goal.
It should be easy fact.

But it's quite impressive to see Kazakhstan win against Denmark because Denmark is a big favorite.
As we know from last year's world cup, Denmark disappointed a lot, so Denmark's loss now is just one more weak game from Denmark.
Maybe Denmark is overrated?
77  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be greedy – a short goose story on: January 21, 2023, 04:11:45 PM
Though it is an old story, it is always relevant. I first heard and read this story as a child. Greed is bad for everything, not just crypto. It also destroys the soul and life. I've written similar things about scams many times. Only when we are greedy will we be deceived. The majority of hacking incidents are caused by greed. As a result, we must be realistic. To earn cryptocurrency, you should take a straightforward approach. This really isn't a shortcut.
You are right, Sir! It is very important, because it is also a sort of education to prevent a loss. We should know how to secure a profit and not risk to lose it. Many people have done such mistakes and only education can help to prevent such mistakes.
Especially in Crypto market, where we can always see a huge risk. Crypto is a good source of big profits when we aren't greedy. We need to protect our goose.  Smiley
78  Other / Beginners & Help / Don't be greedy – a short goose story on: January 15, 2023, 03:57:26 PM
Greed is never a good idea because it can ruin all your profits when you are having more of Loss.
To underline why we should avoid greed, here is a short story from ancient Greek writer Aesop:

Quote
There was once a Countryman who possessed the most wonderful Goose you can imagine, for every day when he visited the nest, the Goose had laid a beautiful, glittering, golden egg.

The Countryman took the eggs to market and soon began to get rich. But it was not long before he grew impatient with the Goose because she gave him only a single golden egg a day. He was not getting rich fast enough.

Then one day, after he had finished counting his money, the idea came to him that he could get all the golden eggs at once by killing the Goose and cutting it open. But when the deed was done, not a single golden egg did he find, and his precious Goose was dead.

It is a very simple story but it is also true for crypto: don't get greedy because it could result in a big loss, where all your profits are gone and you end up at a big loss, no chance to recover it.
Do a detailed research, avoid risky Altcoins and keep your coins safe.

Be happy from what your profits are at and don't get greedy because it is always a good idea to avoid risk.
Don't murder your goose = HODL your Coins.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Libertarians -- where are they now? on: January 09, 2023, 01:52:27 AM
Nobody has done research about Murray Bookchin? He’s a great actor of a less profit driven society.
Libertarianism is prone to malicious actors and Murray tried to emphasize people over profits, where he shared his opinion on barter.
For example he rejected fascism because fascism is opposed to liberty and Murray Bookchain knew an important fundamental: absolute power corrupts absolutely.
It needs a form of govern and individuals should decide it.

Bitcoin can act as a special form of barter and when we research genius texts of Murray Bookchin, we can see why!

When barter?
80  Other / Off-topic / Re: benefits of defeat on: January 06, 2023, 03:07:55 AM
Defeat has no benefits, it's always a loss for us.
You can invest in a coin, lose money or you can miss a good opportunity to buy a new, promising coin (it is less bad) but after all, you'll feel bad and it is understandable for why you feel bad.
Crypto is a hard place to speculate and we should be aware of it.
We have a chance of huge profits but also huge loss.
Still, crypto is only virtual money, it's only exising in digital space.
Losses can occour quickly, same goes for profits as well.

We should be

a) careful
b) positive

as it will help us to get better and more educated results.  Smiley
