Anything up and running yet. I'm on x-hash. not hashing yet.
64  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer S3 support and OverClocking thread on: August 02, 2014, 05:53:52 PM
I purchased mine through eBay and must have gotten an earlier batch.

i am trying to OC i was able to oc up to 237.5 without getting any x's but power draw from the wall doesn't go up and my hash rate goes down. when i leave at 218.5 i get 450 @350w at the wall(i use platinum rated PSUs). i can't even clock this thing at 225 without the HR going down.

Have we found a fix for this yet or is it just how its gonna be?

Additionally Ive noticed that as soon as i start overlocking my reject rate goes way up, somewhere in the neighborood of 25% HW stays very low. might this play a role in why my 5s hash is 480ish but average is closer to 400?

I actually use both, i prefer to do things through my mac, however i do have 2 win 8 rigs i could piggyback off of for wallet, and i also run win 8.1 pro on my mac through parallels. the amount of stuff my mac runs and isn't even bogged down a bit is very impressive.

i will try creating the alias. so it will be like a modified shortcut correct?

Im still learning a lot of this. how do i start the application while implementing the -datadir function
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Relocating Wallet Block Data on: August 02, 2014, 02:15:10 PM
Sorry for my lack of specificity, i hold about 7 different coins and i would like to move all of them not just one so i generalized.

what I'm trying to do is move the file folder that all the qt wallets make that it puts in the %appdata%/application support (depending on if you use mac or windows i use Mac) the folder that contains all the wallet .dat info and blockchain info.

Most walets default to put the info there but some wallets ask the first time you open them the ones hat ask where you want it put it where i want and it works beautifully the other i want to change so they are also on the external drive.

How do you make it so that a coin wallet will store the wallet and blockchain info in a new/different location.

i am looking to store them on an external drive as my SSHD is not overly large i want to get some info off of it.

I know this is possible because wallets that ask where to do it like the bitcoin one work just fine running off of an external drive. how can i change this for wallets that don't ask.
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question about moving Wallet Block chain info on: July 23, 2014, 11:31:34 PM
So i think i must be doing something wrong because even moving the file through terminal didn't work should the command look like this

mv ~/Library/Application Support/Potcoin/ /Volumes/AJ's External/Crypto Data

the whole terminal looks like this

ajs-imac:~ AJ$ mv ~/Library/Application Support/Potcoin/ /Volumes/AJ's External/Crypto Data

i have actually been able to get bit coin to work but that is because the first time i ran the QT it asked where i wanted the data location and i chose my external so thats working fine its getting all my other ones on to my external that don't ask.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question about moving Wallet Block chain info on: July 20, 2014, 06:10:59 AM
you can do it on mac without using the -datadir option by using a symbolic link. in a terminal, type in:
Code:
ln -s ~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/ /new/location
then run bitcoin as normal.

Tried getting this to work on a few alt coins, no luck, not sure if I'm typing it into terminal wrong or something. i type it in the way you have it with the new location and terminal just moves to the next line. no confirmation or anything, but no effect, the QT acts as if the data is in the application support folder.

Thank you.... How would i undo this if i needed to?
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question about moving Wallet Block chain info on: July 20, 2014, 03:06:50 AM
I was able to get this working on the windows ones, any idea on how to do it on the mac apps?
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question about moving Wallet Block chain info on: July 20, 2014, 02:44:55 AM
Thanks for the super quick reply, good article. now i just have to figure out how to do what it says. i get most of it but not all.
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Question about moving Wallet Block chain info on: July 20, 2014, 02:23:20 AM
With block chain info gradually getting larger and larger, especially now that i hold more than just bit coin i was curious if there was a way to make the QT wallets store their info in a different location.

I have a nice RAID hard drive that i would like them all to run off, its there any way to stop the application from putting their config info someplace other than the application support folder.

I use most of my wallets on my mac, some i keep in windows also on my mac but through parallels.

Or a wallet built in exchange?

or just a wallet that works. I still can't connect like I said yesterday. without a working wallet, people will not hold this coin or give it any credibility.
I had some problems with wallet not finding peers until I added:
addnode=146.185.188.6

What nodes are in your conf file?

I have that node. My "BitcoinDark.conf " file looks like this (ie: everything on page 1 plus some nodes that somebody posted yesterday):

rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
rpcport=14632
port=14631
daemon=1
gen=1
server=1
addnode=107.170.59.196
addnode=146.185.188.6
addnode=107.170.59.196:55991
addnode=146.185.188.6:14631
addnode=74.91.20.250:39997
addnode=54.85.50.15:50288
addnode=107.170.148.50:14631
addnode=65.129.66.246:57762

also i checked my firewall. it's not blocking my wallet.

Thanks for the tip, it took me awhile to find this but it worked like a charm, do you have an address for a coin i can tip you with?
