61  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risk management and responsible gaming on: May 12, 2024, 12:59:43 AM
Governments and several organisations work to encourage responsible gaming. This involves establishing betting restrictions, offering support to those who think they have a gambling problem, and participating in self-exclusion programmes.
I sincerely do not understand the point you are trying to make but from every indication you just gave us the conclusion of what you have in mind. government as the name implies, does not work well in my country and i don't really know your country where government supports gaming. But here in my country they have a lot of responsibilities which they have failed to meet, the have a lot of unfulfilled promises which they have not fulfilled even one other than to support. they have not even provided us with one basic needs, like basic social amenities, like water, electricity, good roads and job employment. my own government is so corrupt that they the masses are suffering every day and the level of economic has drastically increased beyond measures.

so, i doubt with utmost trust that in my country, no government or any organization will pay attention to responsible gaming o to thinking of solving gambling problems, gambling is a private affair and should learn how to support yourself and not to hope on government for any kind of help or support, so let's face the reality and tell ourselves the truth. that government can never pay attention to gambling unless it generates revenue for the politicians. or that they see it as another measure to steal funds.
62  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What contributes to a casual gambler becoming an addicted gambler? on: May 12, 2024, 12:40:24 AM
I was wondering what makes someone transition from a casual gambler to a gambling addict. Here are six reasons I've identified.

  • To find an alternative full-time earning source
  • Chasing Losses
  • Lack of Alternative Income earning opportunities
  • Using Gambling as an Excuse for Personal/Profesional Problems
  • lDream of Winning Big
  • An excuse
  • Setteling ongoing debt

If you have anything else then do write it down on this thread. This thread is only to help anyone who is into daily gambling realize the incident that led to compulsive gambling or everyday gambling.

This is a self-moderated thread that means if anyone here wants to vent out his or her frustration then they are welcome.

Let's hear it so that everyone knows.

most casual gamblers turn to addicted gamblers because of series of the own personal reasons that a best known to them but from own perspective they turn addicts because of selfishness, envy, greed, lack of funds just like you cited earlier. when i was trying to involve myself in gambling in my school days when i often follow my friends to visit a betting shop. i saw one guy who usually visit from time to time to gamble so i asked why he always coming here to gamble all the time, the answer that i got from him shocked me, he told me that he saw one his classmate that won huge AMOUNT of money and his life changed for good and that he is going to continue trying till he wins big. At that point i as so amazed because i can't imagine myself visiting betting shop just to win big like my fellow human being. There is grace in all we do, and gambling is not an exception to that believe and that gambling is a game of chance and luck, and we should not imitate others because we must definitely turn to addicts because for the fact that it favored Mr. A does not really mean that it is going to Favour Mr. B. so let's try as much as possible eliminate greed and selfishness to avoid turning to gambling addicts.
63  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To what extent have you hated yourself due to your gambling losses? on: May 12, 2024, 12:23:12 AM
Let me start by asking a question that is not very much different from the topic..

In your entire gambling journey, have you ever had a series of losses to the extent you hated yourself so much for being so unlucky?

I was going through reddit in the early hours of today, and came across a user who lamented bitterly through his post, of how unlucky he has been in gambling in the past few weeks, like almost a month now, he said he bets minimum, twice every day, but have not won a dime for the past weeks, and this made him hate himself so much, I sincerely felt pity for him, for I remember one time I lost a huge sum of money to betting, I felt so bad that I thought of killing myself  Grin.

So, let's share our worst gambling experiences, have you ever hated yourself so much due to lack of winnings in gambling? To what extent, and how did it end?

Do you still hate yourself even now?  Grin

Lets discuss.
Obviously i will not deny that i have hated myself and have also seriously blamed myself for getting involved in gambling at the first place as a result of series of losses. there is this notion that i had about gambling loss, each time a lose i usually see it is an opportunity to employ another strategy to make a difference but there is one certain period that i lost almost all the money in my online wallet and i was so infuriated that i blamed myself badly for even having a gambling account. within that time i hated everyone around me and everything that relates to gambling because i was so depressed considering the amount a lost and the time i have invested to build that online wallet.

No one has ever admired loss or welcome loss as part of him or her though we cannot avoid loss  but it pains a lot when it turns out to be a recurring activity because you will regret ever getting involved in such kind of lifestyle, sometimes i asked myself where is the fun in gambling when we lose, a thing of value, we feel pains, sometimes depressed and yet people will come out and tell me that the essence of gambling is for fun.
64  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do people truly risk their money on bets for profit? on: May 11, 2024, 03:32:53 AM
I came across a recent topic where the op was saying over 80% of gamblers gamble to make money and I had to have a dip thought on that and was curious as to know if there are possibilities that people gamble just for the sake of answering the name gambler?
Nearly eighty percentage of the gamblers are doing gambling for the money making.
From my opinion, I think there isn’t any need to stake or risk one’s money on a game simply because you want to catch fun when you could simply not risk your money and still have fun while watching same game.
I don’t know if I’m really staying my points well but I wish to know if people really have to gamble without intentions of making money?
This has actually been discussed severally in this forum and has been recurring, the essence of every investment is to make profit and also the goal of every businessman is to make profit and sincerely speaking i have not seen any person who has taken risk of staking something of value for the sake of fun. we quite understand that people love games and can gamble in their different areas of interest but not for fun rather it is better to tell that people watch games and play games for fun than rather to tell me that people gamble for fun.

risk is a chance of loss and as well as a combination of hazard, you can't tell risk for fun, so major reasons for gambling is to make money. i was asked my friend the reason why he gambles, and he told me that it is just for fun but one day he won a bet, and the betting company told him that they are currently out of cash, and he should come after two days  and my friend became angry and i asked him why he is angry he told me that they refused paying him for  his winning today , i looked at him and i laughed because he was the same person that told me that gambling is fun and he is angry that he was not paid his winning. gambling for me mainly to make money.
65  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any fun in losing while gambling on: May 11, 2024, 03:13:30 AM
Over the time, I’ve seen several post, by users here who, claim that gambling is strictly for fun, even when one is making losses and I’ve paused to ask this question “Is there actually any fun in gambling especially when the losses are more than the winnings?”
Let’s be frank, there are several other things one can do for fun aside gambling and I understand that life it’s own is a risk but seeing claims that people see gambling as fun even when making losses is weird and I think it’s worth discussion as to know if truly people gamble strictly for fun without minding if they’re losing or winning
No one is ever happy while losing in gambling because the core essence of taking risk is to have a successful outcome. gambling is actually fun when you are winning, and it is quite interesting when your predictions are accurate but if you are losing in gambling there is this ugly impression in your face that shows that you have lost a thing of value. gambling ordinarily is two sided either you lose or win which invariably implies that you celebrate your winning and endure your loss.

sincerely speaking i feel very bad while losing in gambling because it makes me feel very discouraged, depressed and mental stressed but when you are winning in gambling it gives you the impression that you are making an improvement, and you will feel very relaxed to select other games and stake. lastly losing is inevitable but can be ameliorated in gambling and there is no one above loss anyone can lose in gambling however, if you win you celebrate it and if you lose you take it like that.
66  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: While placing bet what comes your mind on: May 10, 2024, 05:07:40 PM
That is how gambling is, as someone is gambling, a thought like this will come to the person's mind. The person will want to increase the money to gamble. Infact, this is one of the main reasons gamblers easy lose money while gambling.

We have always say that gamblers should use little amount of money to gamble and they should not go beyond their gambling budget which should be a very small amount of money to what they re earning.
This applies to anything that has to do with risk taken because they believe that they can hit it bigger once they stake with higher amount  but the truth is that it is always advised to make proper budgets in whatever you as not to allow your emotions take in control of you . Emotions can mislead especially when it comes to gambling because several things will come you mind at the time of placing bets but the  answers lie in your ability to control your emotions.

Yes it’s is quite obvious that people lose their money because of wrong decisions at betting points but the main reason is that they find it very difficult to control their emotions then instead they allow their emotions to take control of them and they end up making wrong decisions. Greed and emotions are twin brother and to succeed in gambling you must learn to control their behaviours so that they don’t control your own behaviour.
67  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it proper for younger ones to gamble? on: May 10, 2024, 04:52:32 PM
Because nowadays the younger ones take gambling more seriously then school. Yesterday i got back home early so I decided to step out and go to a betting shop to catch some fun while gambling, I saw two teenagers gambling with their school uniforms on them.

I asked someone besides me why did they allow this boy's to come in with their uniforms and gamble, he said did they put any restrictions that younger ones are not allowed to gamble. I said but it's not normal, I replied him what if this are your kids would you be happy seeing them gambling with their uniforms on them. So what do you guys think about this situation at hand now.
Op I am not in any way  supporting them for coming To the betting shop with their uniform To gamble But in the other way round there is no specific uniform for Gamblers And you can gamble with any cloth in as much as you are up To the statutory age required By your country to gamble . Life is quite difficult that even teenager's go after the money too to support their family and at same time take care of their daily needs too.

Moreso. Another thing you will have To put into consideration is his or her upbringing And the environment where he or she is raised bacuse the environment is one the major factors that influence children . If they grow in an environment where virtually all their mates are gamblers they will also be gamblers or in their school as well where all their peer groups are gamblers they will likely try their own possible way to practice gambling so as to have the same experience as their mates .

But in actuality it is not proper for a teanager  to gamble and at same time with school uniforms, but the society is already corrupt and the government who are supposed to regulate such circumstances are also corrupt so the whole system is just corrupt from the head .
68  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the main points of gambling? on: May 10, 2024, 04:29:27 PM
Gambling thus requires three elements to be present: consideration
(an amount wagered), risk (chance), and a prize.

I noticed that people now don't actually know their main points of them gambling, some people gamble to earn daily and some people just gamble cause they saw their friends won in gambling. That's how they develop their gambling lifestyle and from their they get addicted to it. I've over heard people complaining about them losses, for me I think they don't know the main points of gambling. What do you think about this people losses much? Does it mean they don't know the main points of gambling?
The gambling elements that you listed in your post can be considered because there is no gambling without risk But looking At the main points of gambling Its all depend on the individual because every individual has his or her reasons of gambling.
Some individuals gamble for fun , some gamble for the money And some others gamble for no reason , they probably gamble because they see others gambling . The Category of individual who gamble for fun do It because they want be happy , reduce mental stess thereby reducing their chances of being depressed. Also they see gamble as a means of exercise And many more.

Other set of individual gamble for the money benefits . This category of individuals are quite addicts becaus their primary aim of gambling is To make money And they do everything possible To gamble At all cost.they can hide fo gamble even If gamble is restricted in their area because they want the money By all means . They Find It very difficult To contriol their emotions And Thats why they are always victims of violence in most casino house or betting shops .
Last , the category of those that gamble because they see other people gambling. These are individuals who do not know much about gambling But they gamble because their friends are Gamblers And they probably gamble because they want  To feel among . However. The main points of gambling lies on the perception of the individual involved And for me i gamble for fun And for the money Too.
69  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much of my salary should I use to gamble on: May 05, 2024, 09:46:18 PM
Gambling is becoming a popular thing in my locality almost everyone gamble and even colleagues gamble and engage in gambling related discussions at work,  so gambling is legal and very popular so there is no Shame in using part of a salary to gamble with that is why I am asking the question of what the right percentage from my salary that I should use to gamble?
i have not tried to gamble with any percentage of my salary because my salary is very important to me other than gambling, my salary is quite meant for investment and other domestic use. i prefer trading crypto and use a bit percentage of the profit i made after trading to gamble and if i win the money then i will also use it to buy coins and hodl. However, just like you said op that the majority of the people in your area gamble and that gambling is quite legalized in your area so i would advise incase you want to gamble just like every other person, if you are a salary dependent try as much as possible not to imitate others because there are variations in salary so that you will not end up losing all to gambling, therefore you can start o.5% or at most 1% of your salary to gamble in other to be on the safer side.
70  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which device do you prefer for gambling ? on: May 05, 2024, 03:00:12 PM
A lot of gambling sites have emerged during and after the Covid-19 era and a lot of people have since then joined the gambling community.
We now have a wider audience who likes to gamble on desktop, laptop, mobile phone etc...
This poll is to see the most preferred device for gambling which I assume should be desktop as it provides a bigger screen and better user experience than any other device.
But a lot of people prefer mobile phones too and so lets just hit it and see what the actual results are.
All of them are actually ok for gambling but I prefer my laptop because I see my laptop as my best friend because I spend awhole lot of time with my laptop and I feel very relaxed, comfortable and convinced while gambling with my laptop. Why I preferred my laptop is that it helps me to open different tabs that can help me to check the history of the clubs, their losses, their number of wins, their active players and injury players , why their odds are high and many more . Unlike phone that will not be performing many tasks at once .

Different individuals have their preferred choice when it  comes to gadgets to gamble and depending on the gadget that they can afford or the ones they have at their disposal . I don’t have enough gadgets at home I only have laptop and phone but I prefer using my laptop because it performs several task at once more than my phone . So prefer to use my pc to gamble .
71  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the biggest mistakes made by beginners in online gambling? How can they on: May 05, 2024, 01:45:26 AM
What are the biggest mistakes made by beginners in online gambling? How can they be avoided?
beginners are prone to so many mistakes when it comes to online gambling, first of all they are always attracted to Ads and end up becoming victims of loss. Gambling ordinarily needs attention, time, and strategies to be successful. most beginners don't consider the strategies before gambling rather they believe in adverts and that is why they are always used scammers and end up losing their money to online scammers, i will sincerely encourage them to be patient enough to understand that gambling is all about adverts rather it requires dimension and possible strategies to make it work.
72  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you cashout or wait for the game to conclude? on: May 05, 2024, 01:25:48 AM

I saw this on the media so I decided to bring it here in the forum for us to discuss about it. If you notice in the first image, the bettor played a very risky game which comprises of 15+ games with a huge fee of 1m naira. Please take note that this post is not to promote risky gambling or mislead people to emulate his strategy cause left for me I think he's lucky if he happens to win this bet. Now back to our main point of discussion which is on the second image, out of 17 games, 15 played with just two left and based on the date in the image I think Austin FC won Los Angeles Galaxy 2-0 making it the last game left, now if you were the bettor and was given a cashout of 12.4m out of 36m to be won would you rather be patient for the last game to conclude or you'll go with the cashout? Also note that if you cashout you are safe atleast you have made 11m plus extra cash and if you decide to wait it's either you lose or win 36m, what would you do?
cash out can be very tempting sometimes, and that is why most times i stick to my instinct not to track my gambling progress because that is the only way that you can be attracted to cash out. But in this particular scenario i will cash out the 12.4m because i might not endure it if the game did not play well at the end. i will rather go away with the one am seeing (because a bird at hand is worth more than thousands in the bush) beside luck has shined on me and the 12.4m will go a long way for me rather than to wait to win all and  lose all. sometimes, this is the exact thing that brings about depression, suicide, and mental stress because no one will definitely stand to lose free12.4m just like that. However, i will go away with the cashout than to wait till the end of the game.
73  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: May 04, 2024, 01:24:24 AM
Recently I was around a physical bet shop close to my area and I observed a man who was shabbily dressed walking in the gambling house. I got into the place to observe what his intentions were. He walked straight to the gaming attendant, placed his bets in a highly coordinated manner and quietly walked out of the physical gambling house. From the way he was well organized, you will never know that he was mentally unsound apart from his dirty clothes and unkept hair and beard.

When I inquired from the attendant, she said he was a regular customer and that he usually raised money for gambling through the manual jobs he does around the area. She also told me that he has never misbehaved and acted violently in the gambling house so she was comfortable with him.

My question now is are there any moral, ethical or legal obligation to bar a person from gambling after physically observing that he is mentally unstable?
I think you are sincerely guessing that the man is mentally unstable because if he appears dirty with shabby looks does not really make him mentally unstable, and from your observation you did not have any proof that he is mentally unstable. and he comes to a betting shop to place his bet that means that he is of sound mind because he knows what is doing and the owner of the betting shop interacts with him as pertains their business.  The only law that restricts people from gambling in any country where gambling is legalized is under age and talking about shabby or dirty looks it is left for the betting attendant or the owners of the betting shops to deal with that.

However, regarding your question, if mentally unstable people should gamble? in law of contracts they are not legally accepted to engage in any business with sane person but he or she can partake in a business when he or she is in lucid period. that is to say that the mentally unstable persons are only allowed to gamble when they are in lucid period.(when they can be able to communicate effectively without violence).
74  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Recovering gambling addict stories on: May 04, 2024, 01:01:58 AM

I advise everyone to see this video, I'm not related to this person, but I can relate to his stories and the gambling addiction that most of us could have been suffering for years. This is the second video that I have been watching and they say the same things. Not just money they lose, but time and relationship. The other video that I saw that he was not even present with the delivery of his first and second kid, he was done gambling and trying to make money for the hospital bills but it turns out that he losses in both time.

Perhaps you have seen other videos as well and maybe share it here.
Every gambler has a quite story to tell whether you are an addict or not, the truth is that no amount of story that we will hear or amount of video that we will watch that will change the mindset of most gambling addicts. there is this saying 'that women die during childbirth will not make other women stop from giving birth' which invariably implies that no matter the circumstances that surrounds the stories people must be addicts. However, the story is nice because it helps some wise one to make rational decision that will better their lives, some will surely learn from it while others will see it as normalcy.

life is all about taking risk and learning from a reasonable experience, i am very happy that you shared the video here, many of us have actually lost a lot because of gambling, Addiction ordinarily is a disease and requires appropriate measures to be corrected and i  hope that this video finds solace in our hearts and also touch most of positively.

75  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a gambler do you have a potential winning amount limit? on: May 04, 2024, 12:16:48 AM
I have heard and read about people gambling because they had no source of income,  a job or they wanted to add gambling as part of their streams of income. Whatever your category the bottom line is that we all gamble to make money though some group claim it's mainly for fun. But who would want to be losing money all in the idea of catching fun!

There are gamblers that don't place their bet not until they have gotten a certain amount as their potential win. Some do this based on their financial challenge with the anticipation that just one win they may get on such amount is a life changer for them.

My main focus on this thread is in this question: as a gambler do you place your bet according to the weight of your financial need or you're always okay with whatever amount that comes out as potential win no matter how small amount?

I don’t actually have any potential winning amount limit  because my predictions my might change, one thing that inspires me is that a make do with any amount that I see . I don’t predict any amount, I predict games and if it happens that I win big fine or I win Small I will also take it home because it all depends on your luck for the day .we see different things in gambling that’s why you can’t place your mind on the exact amount, sometimes you will book games and before staking the bets the odds will change and the winning amount will also change and vice versa .

In addition having a potential amount limit can lead to health disadvantages because anytime you failed to meet up the amount considering your budget for that day you will be very restless and that can lead to emotional imbalance, depression and mental stress.
76  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take time to read the terms and conditions of casinos before registering? on: May 03, 2024, 02:53:04 PM
The terms and conditions of casinos and other companies is usually very lengthy and somehow boring for some people. Hence , many people rarely find time to read them. They may actually contain some of the complaints that people raise about some casinos such requiring KYC if there is need or suspicion of money laundering activities.

What is your take on this?
It is actually nice to go through some terms and conditions of casinos but the truth is that most of us if not all the  gamblers have not tried that .when entering casino house my primary intention is the games to stake and my possibly wins , I don’t even care about the terms and conditions because I often see it a waste of time .and if even I decide to read it I might end up not practicing it so I often look further to see the exclusion clauses and pick the points that will not affect my winning . Obviously speaking just as you pointed it out the terms and conditions are very lengthy and can take whole lots of courage and strength to read and that is why i have never find it interesting to read .

Hello,friends
I created this topic because i know that a lot of traders have numerous psychological problems as a result of their work
These are constant neurosis, fear of loss, aggression on others, suspiciousness and many other symptoms that poison your life
Especially it is observed in people who lost a lot of money because of trading and can not recover from it,feel like losers
I too have faced all this and was treated for a year and i know exactly how to get rid of it
If you need any help, you can write me in pm
Don't worry,i'm not going to charge you,it's all from the heart
You don't have to describe your problems here, because this conversation is supposed to be confidential
If you don't need help, just pass by

-Regards
That is very nice of you op ,a lot of us here have been constantly avoiding trading because of loss , it is quite obvious that loss is inevitable when it comes to trading but some of us do lose almost all the time because of lack of good strategies and good management but thank God that you have offered to help those you are interested without charges I sincerely wish to appreciate you for even trying to help because it is not easy to help considering your busy schedule.
Most of us here need help when it comes to trading but when they think about the money that they will pay to learn they relax and try to manage the little strategy they have. One thing I like about this forum is that in as much as you active and you have the time to explore the forum help will come and you will also learn as well.
Lastly , for the newbies like me try and reach out to op through pm and learn because trading also helps a lot once you have the capital . Once again thank you op for the this wonderful opportunity.
79  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do some people hide to gamble on: May 03, 2024, 12:21:32 PM
So at this point I decided to bring it here to know or see different views from different intellects here on why do some people hide just to gamble or if it is the best way to gamble ?.

I thought this things happen only in my community but it seems it's happening everywhere. Despite the civilization, some cultures in my community still see gambling as a taboo and shameful act and this makes people to feel ashamed and embarrassed when gambling, hence, they hide in a quite places to play such games. During our childhood days, we spent a lot of money on buying WHOT cards because elders usually seized it from us when caught despite that we don't normally play with money but purposely for fun of the game.

Consequently, we look for a very private place where no one will suspect the presence of people in order to enjoy our game. When the place was discovered, we received beating and our cards were seized. The drama continues like that until we all got tired and stop playing until the advent of mobile versions. Ever since, I hardly see younger ones playing it. Not too long ago, I saw some group of boys playing it and guess what I did, I seized it too. Let the tradition continues.
Exactly the point that I am trying to make my dear , my mum see those playing WHOT as tauts and very unreasonable people who do not want to help themselves and when you look at most of them they are not actually doing very well and have nothing to show off and sometimes they look very dirty and tattered .

Every parents want the best for their children and hiding to play games shows that there is something wrong with what you are doing, I could remember some families while growing up where the first son will have to steal some local currencies from the mothers bag just to go and play WHOT with his friend and still he will come back dry or either beaten up by his senior gambling colleague. So when I see some people hide to play gamble , and when I remember what some people said that gambling is for fun . I will be confused because you cannot be having fun and you are hiding so there are so many things behind their actions which they do not want to unveil .
80  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You can not win if you do not risk on: May 03, 2024, 12:07:30 PM
Good day guys, how is the gambling industry helping you this period?

However I just want to say that in the game world gamblers are always there to bet and the important thing here is when a gambler can not risk he also can not win, true or false?
Many might still believe that a gamblers who's just gambling at the first day might end up winning w huge amount of money that he wasn't expecting but the truth is that as long as you stake on bet you have already risk your money, be it big or small.
That is just the principle of life op because you cannot reap where you did not sow, gambling is all about risk and you can only win when you risk no matter the amount . The risk can be in different dimensions is either you risk big to win small or risk small to win big but in whichever way you must risk before you can be able to win .

In some aspect of life like in the investment cycle we are advised that the higher the risk the more the outcome and the smaller the risk the lesser the outcome , most times it does not really work for gambling like that because there are games that you will stake higher to win a lesser amount.

Risk is part of our daily life and it is constant in gambling , so in whatever way way that we wish to play gambling we must risk something in other to gain something .
