Original Topic: Why it’s important to avoid telling everyone about your crypto holdings
Author:1miau

Why E de important to avoid to de tell people about crypto way you get

If you first look am e no be like bad thing to tell people say you get Bitcoin for wallet, but E get some kind things you need reason and put for mind.

To de tell all your friends fit nor be better thing.

Even if them be your friends you need to de careful well well if you tell them about Bitcoin or other crypto way you get.

As E always be, some of them go de way go con de jealous, especially if them think say  you rich (but you nor rich like that) con start to de  beg you make you  give them some from inside. This matter fit spoil  trust way una get for una self way fit spoil una relationship kpata kpata or finish.

Or if that one no happen , we know say some of them nor Sabi keep secret and Dem go fit come bigin de tell other people. E de possible say people go con know about am way de jealous/ and get bad relationship with you or Dem fit be thief way de plan to thief your crypto.

After all, the more many many people con de no about your crypto, the more bad people fit come still de know about am.

To de link your identity for internet join your real Identity fit de very risky

Normally nor be better thing to de use your real names for Internet, especially when he  concern your cryptocurrencies. This matter  concern  forums, public social media accounts way get connection to cryptocurrencies and  for all services, where we go need to use email address or similar.

Since many accounts go need email if you wan register, you suppose use email way you  newly create way nor get your real name.E  go protect you from spam and scammers Dem who wan no your real name and address.

With  social engineering, scammers fit conclude about the person, how many crypto them get, find out where Dem de live and fit con plan to rob you

KYC fit expose your identity to peope way no suppose no about am

Better wrong idea de  between the reason and the result of  KYC-process.
E de very important to de extremely careful and know the risks way de if pesin do KYC. Better avoid am if you fit and no do am if you  nor want make bad thing shock you.E dey  possible say the KYC-Scammers / Hackers use your hacked personal information way Dem thief to take gain knowledge about your personal address or location / sell am give other people and Dem fit plan to rob you for  house and thief your crypto.Dem even catch coinbase sef. de sell user data.

See some other reasons why to de do KYC fit puts you for big risk: Why KYC de very very dangerous – and useless

Overly to de  carelessly handle your personal data go increase likelihood of them to thief your  Bitcoin by force or other old ways

Different attacks dey way you fit lose your cryptocurrencies: scams, phishing sites or hacked wallets. Another attack way you fit avoid na the popular $ 5 wrench attack:

https://xkcd.com/538/

U fit avoid am wella if the attackers nor know your personal data and where you live.

Finally,Everybody dey responsible to keep their own data well and who go gain knowledge about your crypto. As simple rule, E always  dey advisable to dey  careful when you de  doubt. This matter  still cover all actions for  Internet way fit threaten privacy.
Once information don cast, we no fit undo am and all the (bad) things way fit follow.

Giving information or enlightenment of someone is different thing entire but the you telling someone about your asset you have in crypto or bitcoin will a create a sense of humor that you have money regardless your interest and the feel entitled to it and want to have a cake in your crypto you have and which is a bad mentality but something you have to keep your mouth quiet and focus to avoid some situations or problems
62  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: 2024 no go gree for anybody. on: March 28, 2024, 12:52:46 PM
As the year just start, Netizens for our country Naija done adopt the slogan NO GO GREE FOR ANYBODY,  e no mean say make we  dey Waka for road they find trouble or make we no hear sorry when person offend you, Na just for us to double our hustle, no allow anybody'look down on you as an individual, no gree anybody to oppress you online with fake life, make no Pastor deceive you with this year is Ur year when you no dey hustle, keep the hustle real and the rewards of hustling will come to u
One thing I love been a Nigerian we are so creative in entertainment and making fun in things even in a difficult times in the country.because this slogan was created even in the hardship no gree for anybody.in the sense every one should be contented with what he has and he should let no one try to oppress them no matter the situation.
63  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The power of Networking. on: March 28, 2024, 12:48:57 PM
It's not strange that no man can do it all by himself and that most of the things we are doing becomes better and easier when we actually put our heads together and support ourselves in our own little way.

I've benefited a lot by networking with people. Sometimes you just need to know someone that knows someone who is into what you're looking for and it paves a big way for you. Their are several instances when people pay huge sum of money to learn a skill that you will comfortably learn for free because of the kind of network you've built.

I guess this is one of the major advantage of going to the higher institution and to be really honest, the major thing I have achieved as a graduate is that I have a network of different individuals that are doing well for themselves in different field and it's always very easy to seek for their help or professional advice when the need arises.

Even most of our top politician and some of our leading industrial expert still ensure that they build the needed relationship and network with people in their field and those outside their field and once they leave a particular position, it's always not difficult for them to find another.

What I'm saying in essence, is that we've become a family by reason of this platform that brings us together and if for any reason their is going to be a physical move to advocate for bitcoin adoption, we're going to be in the right position to carry it out and so make we de relate wela for the forum and also try to de carry each other along so we go also know wetin de happen for the industry wella.
There is a saying that no man’s is an island.we all need each other in our point of contact in life, having a great network and good relationship with people can help build your self.
64  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Try all your best to gain knowledge on: March 28, 2024, 12:47:05 PM
My country people good afternoon inside this afternoon, see eh,  anything wey we dy do, make we try all our best to gain knowledge, because even bible talk say knowledge is profitable to direct, see eh, most people for we country wey dy misinformed or wey  lack  knowledge believe say once you dy press phone or laptop too much, mean say you be scammer or yahoo boy, make we look around us for we country, almost all the people doing well get one or two knowledge about  something wey dy pay dem well, ok make we talk about dis crypto industry now, those people wey lack knowledge about the industry, na dem dy mostly go lose money for trading and scammers hand pass because them no know whats up, some of dem dy even invest serious money in shit coin because them lack knowledge, wen de coin fall and refuse to rise again dem go generalize am say crypto generally na scam, or you wan talk of those people wey dy give people money to trade for dem? All this tins dy boils down to lack of knowledge.
I don even see one young fine guy wey one white man wan give one good job like that, because him no sabi read, the man no just know how him fit help am again, because na guy wey him just like, and the job demands documentation, so why I dy tlk all this tins is that make we seek knowledge with everything we get abeg, because e get why.
One thing important thing about this life its knowledge.because knowledge is power.because someone who has the intellectual and knowledge can gain dominance over the other because of the things he knows.

66  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: NYSC scheme is another failed structure that could have helped our economy. on: March 28, 2024, 09:31:34 AM
With the thousands of people that are willing to serve our country after completing their undergraduate studies, If our leaders are wise, they would have leveraged on these human capacity to harnessing most of our natural resource and push them into serving in industrial areas that will boast the economy to a very large extent.

Wouldn't it be more reasonable to send this NYSC members to industrial areas that will expose them to what's obtainable in most industrial setting or to look for ways to improve on our agricultural system rather than sending them to teach the regular maths and physics in school?

If the NYSC was properly planned and well managed, we wouldn't be talking about lack of employment opportunity or the issue of inemployability of most of our youth wouldn't have been a serious problem.

Just imagine that every year we have thousands of youth on the scheme and within that one year, they are well trained in an industry that is functional and relevant, would they come out frustrated about the next thing to do as is the case now? we should be thinking on how to engage them to better the economy rather than forcing them to teach in schools leaving most of them idle as shit because the system allows them to teach even when teaching is not thisr primary field of interest.

How does teaching help better our nation?  What we have is teachers teaching other teacher that will end up becoming teachers. How does that translate to a nation becoming productive to be really honest?

Well, I just say make I bring this matter come here,    how we fit make the best use of our youth that are currently under the nysc scheme such that they will be productive to themselves on thier part and still be a useful resource for the economic growth of our nation.

How to expect someone receiving a minimum wage of 30 thousand naira in Nigeria right now to boost the economy when there’s over inflation of almost everything you want to get in the market.

The major sim in the creation of the Nigerian Nysc was to boost the economy but to foster peace and unity among its regions and state but for me that have failed by allowing redeployment of corpers which don’t even have any medical report or which the fake and collecting of bribe to help corper change the place of service..that means the aim of the Nysc is not really been achieved for me.after seeing all this but to be removed and making it an entrepreneur of a year will be muvh better to help the economy reduce rate of unemployment and increase self employment.
68  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Avoid taking Loans on: March 28, 2024, 09:25:03 AM
With the current rate of inflation hitting the entire country which the government has refused to do anything meaningful like increasing the minimum wage to a reasonable amount most people would likely see loans as an opportunity to support their finances, there are many options to get loans from like banks, micro finance institutes and the most dangerous of them all the online loan apps.

Due to life’s problems most of us are pushed to the edge and when we see no other means of getting money we result to taking loans, most times omitting a very important aspect before taking those loans like reading through the payments scheme and understanding the gravity of what we getting into the average interest rate has risen to 38% in 2024 this should be a sign to others aiming to request for loans.

We should try as much as possible to avoid taking any sort of loans especially from these newly created loan apps many of them are actually out to steal from your accounts and are still being investigated please tell someone to tell someone to stay away from loans and taking loans in general.
Avoid taking loan it’s a good suggestion of life because it help saving of interest rate , preventing financial freedom, protecting credit score, preserving asset and avoiding stress
69  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria's government suspensio of Binance exchange. What's your take? on: March 28, 2024, 09:20:33 AM

Since the ban on crypto in February 5, 2021, every move made by the Nigerian government seems to have missed the mark. Initially citing concerns about money laundering and terrorist financing, the restriction on commercial banks from processing crypto transactions has not yielded the intended results. Instead, it has resulted in significant financial losses for both the banks and the country funds that could have been retained to peer-to-peer (P2P) operations.

The government appears to have overlooked Nigeria's status as Africa's leading crypto hub and one of the top 10 globally. Attempts to halt crypto transactions seem futile given its widespread adoption. This latest action by the government appears to be another misstep.

Considering the positive impact of crypto on the lives of many unemployed graduates, the government's decision comes across as callous and indifferent. A more constructive approach would have been to allow commercial banks to operate within a regulated framework. However, it seems they are turning a blind eye to potential solutions.

While Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken are among the suspended exchanges, it begs the question: Why these specific exchanges? Why not others like Bitget and Kucoin? These discrepancies raise concerns about the government's motives and decision-making process.
Nigeria don’t know how tackle issues, when creating policy and sanctions.for binance to tackle cancellation of p2p is not best solution but instead of creating a board and regulatory structure which help in this activity.
70  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [Edu]How to calculate profit return on BTC on: March 28, 2024, 08:58:43 AM
Normally I also use @promise444c5 way to calculate  mine. But I think sir @Charles-Tim method also nice and fast too.  Actually @promise444c5 way is the normal  or should I say common way use  in calculating profit or loss in business. Let me just emphasize on it Using the formulars:

Firstly SP = selling price, CP = cost price.

To calculate for profits,

Profit = SP - CP ( indicating that the selling price was higher or greater than the cost price ( your buying price))

While to calculate loss

Loss= CP - SP (While this formular shows that your cost price was higher or greater than your selling price) you made losses.

Formula for profit% and loss%

 profit percentage (profit%) =  Profit/Cost price × 100

While loss percentage is .

Loss percentage (loss%) = Loss/Cost price × 100 , is just almos like profit% the only changes is that where you see profit just replace it with Loss (when solving for loss%)

Just decided to give some clarity concerning this topic posted. Hope this would be helpful to anyone it may concern please do so to correct me if  there's  any errors. Smiley
If not for today I don’t know how to calculate, but leaning is every day thou but using this principle I was able to try it in my private time and got it correct.appreciate your information.
71  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What if the Bitcoin was in note? on: March 27, 2024, 11:06:54 PM
In all countries around the world there currencies are all printed in paper which is called note though there maybe countries who still use coins till now. All around the world money can be misplaced maybe from your pocket, your hand or maybe your wallet may even get lost but still some people don't feel it when their money get lost because it's not that very high in exchange like in Nigeria where we have our highest currency which happens to be 1k and many other currencies like #500, #200, #100 and others most times we misplace this money and others pick it up with joy of having what you didn't work for but in this recent economy everybody has refused to lose money as usual ( laugh ).

What if the Bitcoin was in notes and with the same value as it has now, do you think anyone would misplace it or even walk with it on the street. Eventually you see a Bitcoin note will you return it to the owner. Let's be sincere and also see it as fun.
What makes bitcoin so powerful and interesting it’s because it’s not centralized but decentralized. Which does not allow for easy regulation in the global system and its encryption and all that. Bitcoin in note would have made more easy to be controlled that it’s in number and encryption
72  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Regulation of price by the government on: March 27, 2024, 11:04:15 PM
One of the major problems we are facing in our country Naija is the regulation of price should be handled by the police or tax forces to monitor every citizen selling goods, must of the company really take advantage of the current situation of the price because of the dollar rate, even when the dollar is not high some people are selling a particular commodity or goods in different rate, this is because no one is monitoring them, and it really affecting the poor because of the price rate, don’t you think this is really happening? Everyone should know what I’m talking about. If you go to 4 different stores you will find out that it different prices.
If our government should look into this price of a thing.
Nigeria has always have this problem in the society when it comes to regulating of price in the society.a country like Nigeria should have rise to be able to have a set of body which help to regulate and create a certain price for it  market system
73  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Government job or private job? on: March 27, 2024, 10:59:21 PM
As they said, government job is better compare to private job because it is permanent and pensionable and the job is more secured. Though private job too some are pensionable but not permanent and not that secured. And again in private job, you have the opportunity to let them know how much you want to be paid. You can either be paid higher or lower base on how you present yourself.

Which one do you prefer if you are given an offer?
A government job it’s more preferable because of it continuity and guarantee to it peolpe in the society.
74  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can government track us. on: March 27, 2024, 10:57:15 PM
If I wanted to know something from people on this community, can government track us if we questions against there rules and laws or if they find it inappropriate.
Government can track us,because the introduction of bvn in the banking system was act to connect several accounts hold by same individual for easy access and tracking in an any given activity whether fraudulent and more .
75  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nigeria leaders and corruption on: March 27, 2024, 10:55:03 PM
The level of corruption in the executive and legislative arm of Nigeria government is amazing and shameful. The padding of 2024 budget with the sum of 3.7 trillion naira is something I cannot imagine considering the nature of Nigeria economy now, hardship and younger across the country. Nigeria leaders have demonstrated the highest level of corruption and this action shows that they don't the interest of the country at heart if not they would consider what the masses are going through now in the country.
Sometime I wonder if Nigeria leaders have conscience and human sympathy. How on earth would a government that is obligated to protect lives and properties of her citizens would  proposed to loot 3.7 trillion naira in a country that is at the verge of collapse, a country that 80% of her citizens are leaving in adject poverty with severe hungers.
In the kind of society I find myself in Nigeria and corruption it’s like 5&6 because the system is built on the foundation that to be successful in a political position you need to be corrupt and engage in alot of bad decisions to achieve their goal
76  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is politics really necessary? on: March 27, 2024, 10:52:37 PM
Politics has become a business in some number of countries i know. Where people from younger to older age are all affected. They are doing politics to gain their power. In all these countries murders, fights, thefts, robberies have increased because they are doing these bad activities using political power.

Disadvantages of politics:
1. The number of your enemies will increase
2. It will be a waste of money.
3. Your time will be wasted.
4. You may have the possibility of death.
Yes politics is necessary because when a there’s a government Incharge of the day to day activities of the state.politics now come in place as a machinery which help in managing the running of the activities. This politics usually comes as a result of majority rule in the society.
77  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Equal society is possible.... on: March 27, 2024, 10:49:40 PM
The theories of Karl Marx has made us to understand that an equal society is possible if the society work in unity. Search has shown that 80% of relationship between societies is strictly bias and profit minded which make it difficult for equal society to exist. The rich hate the poor to reach the class and the poor hate the rich for always staying at the top. A quote says: the rich cannot sleep because the poor are awakes and the poor can not sleep because they're hungry. This are part societies from the pictures of seeing people equal or leadership doubtlessly working towards equal societies. Is any society that practice equality laws and equity for oneness in all shared resource?
To be honest I don’t think the society can ever have a equal social Class in the society even Karl max classified the society into three categories.and the world we live in can’t accept that foam of equality
78  Other / Politics & Society / Re: freedom of expression on: March 27, 2024, 10:44:52 PM
What is the meaning of freedom of expression?
Freedom of expression is one of the basic human rights that allows an individual to express his ideas and beliefs freely without infringing on the rights of others or spreading false propaganda and hatred.
This right is guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen of 1789 in France.
BUT
We all know that freedom of expression is very limited in third world countries, and when any statement is hostile to rulers, you put your freedom and life at risk, unlike developed countries, but we have noticed recently the lack of respect for freedom of expression by these countries
Example:
- player suspended and menaced by thier team after showing support to palestine
And the suppression of peaceful Manifestation that support Palestine
- Attacks and threats to people who do not support homosexuality.
Is this considered a suppression of freedom of expression?
Is democracy a dress for dictatorship only?

When looking at the fundamental human right it’s what makes a country a democratic system where by the state all it citizens to engage in freedoms of speech to be able to voice out.thats why we even have a system where by citizens comes outs to protest and it’s allow.due to freedom of expression and should not be deprived from any citizen in a democratic society.
79  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does power really corrupt? on: March 27, 2024, 10:41:28 PM
Power is said to be the ability to control the action of other people around you.when can change the decision of other people using force or negotiations you are are said to powerful.some types of power include,

Physical power (the rock)
Political power (Joe Biden)
Economic power ( Alinko Dangote)
Expert power (Lionel Messi)
Referent power(Nelson Mandela)
Coercive power(Saddam Hussein) etc

Political power is said to be the ability to control people in a country without problem.but too much political power bring about dictators.

There is a popular saying that power corrupt, but absolute power corrupt absolutely.
Yes power corrupt, there’s a saying that absolute power corrupt absolutely.when people are given too much power and control, they can become corrupt and abuse their position for personal gain. This can lead to negative consequences for the people they are supposed to serve, as well as for society as a whole
80  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Use your opportunity wisely. on: March 26, 2024, 04:22:26 PM
Many people have lost the chance to become successful because they mismanaged their opportunity, some loss their opportunity because of foolishness while some may loss theirs because of anger and some because of ignorance. Many people have been blessed with so many opportunities but still they  remain where they are while some are looking for the little opportunity to be given to them.

In my work place as at last year I had this friend we both ate from hand to mouth but we managed a little work together and our salary was very small that it won't carry us for two weeks before the month runs out but we still managed it then later I travelled and left him still working after some months he called me that he has been posted to a higher level where he earned higher I was very happy for him. When I came back I saw that his appearance has changed he was living well then I travelled again after three months I was told that my Friend left the work and went back to his village where there was no work at all because he made a mistake and his boss shouted at him.
I came back and started working there he came to plead because his savings has finished but no chance for him, he suffered alot looking for job everywhere so after that year I told him that it is January and there is vacancy he should go and plead again he went and he was employed but he went back and stole two months after he was employed and he was given the highest salary among all new workers as a person who already knew the work operation.

What a waste of opportunity.
Theirs a saying by a musicians that opportunity no be watin dem dy look and pass.meaning every chance you have to find your self you should take hold and utilize it because not all times those stuff happen in someone life regularly
