61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining VEIL on: May 05, 2019, 04:08:39 PM
I was looking at some POS coins and some people suggested VEIL (POS/POW), it's apparently a new privacy-based coin.

I was originally interested in staking but does anyone know how profitable is it to mine it? I have my computer online most of the time (1080 Ti - i7-7700k) and I was wondering If I could mine using that since it's a new coin and probably the difficulty is not that much.

62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fundraising scam ,the way I see new projects on: May 04, 2019, 05:32:23 PM
This is actually very accurate and yet, people fail to see it somehow. It really doesn't take a genius to know that these projects are made for the sole purpose of scamming people.

ERC20 are too easy to make and anyone could make one by following a tutorial. People should pay attention to the use case of the coin. If we have 5 debit card providers where most of them failed to deliver, there is no reason to invest in the 6th and 7th... because these projects will all use same card provider, and the same regulations will be applied because it comes from the same authority.

My advise here is that people should start investing in projects that already have a prototype/beta product that is working because clearly, no one is taking time to read the whitepaper, do some digging about the team members or anything that could prevent losing money.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 10,000$ - Where to invest? on: May 04, 2019, 02:05:08 PM
I'm going to make this thread self-moderated because I know how spammy the threads with my kind of question could get.

I currently have about 10,000$ in holdings (BTC). I was wondering If someone could suggest what I could do to make them grow?

Take into consideration that I'm not interested in any type of interest based investment (MLM, Ponzi schemes, etc.) and I'm also not experienced with trading.
64  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: HTC Exodus - The first major blockchain smartphone on: May 03, 2019, 02:42:05 PM
So my question is what exactly makes this phone so special, because based on what I have seen there isn't anything so special about it, unless maybe it contains more security features than other phones in terms of storing your bitcoin and other crypto assets.

But, I don't have interest in it, I already have a hardware wallet that I'm making use of and I also have a very good phone, so all these things doesn't really matter to me. And another thing I don't like is that the phone is costly, but whatever…

It's just marketing, don't fall for this. You can get a Xiaomi Pocophone F1 (same CPU, RAM, storage and better battery capacity) for 300$ then buy a ledger nano S or Trezor and have around 250$ left.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Alts worth staking on: May 03, 2019, 02:02:26 PM
I was looking stakingrewards.com and I'm honestly not familiar with POS coins so I was hoping someone could suggest something to use.

I thought about IOST or Livepeer but not sure. I would prefer something that doesn't require that much of an investment to start.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stablecoins thread on: May 03, 2019, 12:59:13 PM
Personally, I think regardless of which stablecoin you're using, there will always be a point where the coin could go below the 1 USD point for one reason or another. (Accusations based on nothing, issues with the bank, etc. whatever it is, the market will react to it) But it's definitely good to see multiple sources for stablecoins, crypto is all about decentralization after all and we don't want one player to control everything.
67  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Trezor used addresses on: May 02, 2019, 06:52:30 PM
I wanted to claim some forked coins (bitcoin) and I found this website where you could basically paste your address and it will tell you the coins that it contains and how much they're worth but I'm using a Trezor and I can't seem to find a way to get my addresses that received funds at a certain point, or that contains bitcoins at this moment, at least not without going through them one by one in the transactions list and check them in blockchain.info or a similar site.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase now supports Dogecoin on: May 02, 2019, 05:54:38 PM
I understand that Bitcoin is the gold and Litecoin is the silver but what is Dogecoin really? I mean it started as a joke and yet people are using it even though the development is pretty much dead and seeing services starting to support it now make me question their credibility or even their sanity...

As for the market response then I honestly can't see anything. If you see the charts in CoinMarketCap for example and compare it with the time Coinbase did the announcement, there has been basically no significant changes, anything before Coinbase's announcement should not be considered as any type of "response".
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WINBIX PreDAICO starts!!! participate in unique sales system #28 on: May 02, 2019, 03:49:06 PM
Regarding the part where users could get a refund simply by sending the tokens back to the smart contract, is that valid at any given time or only during the ICO phase (June)?
70  Economy / Service Discussion / Gunbot reviews on: May 01, 2019, 04:03:11 PM
I want some reviews from people who used Gunbot. Are these bots designed to make you profit regardless of your expertise in your trading or you must have a certain level?

Capital is not a problem as I have enough money to start trading but I'm just not sure If it's worth it or not. I always thought that these bots are nothing unless you know you're doing but apparently, some people are trying to show otherwise, so I would like to hear from those who tried the BOT.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Bitcoin forks on: May 01, 2019, 02:12:51 PM
I wasn't around the crypto scene for some time. I was wondering If there are some forks that I missed and that are worth claiming?

I only claimed BTG and BCH and sold them instantly back in the day, are there are in others that are preferably easy to get access to and to exchange (without KYC).
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Don't follow the hype on: May 01, 2019, 12:43:18 PM
I've been here for years and I can say that following the hype never works for investors, this is simply an advise.

Few examples: Synereo, Savedroid, Electroneum.

Even though these projects managed to get the money they needed and much more, they still didn't manage to deliver what they promised. Or in some cases, not even get listed in decent exchanges or give ROI back.

Cryptocurrencies are not going anywhere and there will be more and more ICOs until these things get regulated (maybe years from now). So If you're an investor and you don't want to stupidly lose your money in the process, I highly suggest everyone to start researching about the projects he's interested in instead of taking his decisions based on Tweets from McAfee, press releases, scores in Icobench, etc.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Are IEO's bad? on: April 30, 2019, 03:45:10 PM
My understanding for IEOs is basically instead of project handling raising funds etc. It will be for an exchange to do so.

An IEO hosted by Yobit or Binance can clearly not be compared. In other words, the exchange gives more credibility to the project regardless of whether it's worth it or not.

Am I the only one who thinks this is actually a bad thing and make people focus on the exchange hosting rather than the actual project and what the team is offering etc.?
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Running MEW locally on: April 30, 2019, 11:11:21 AM
Has anyone tried to run Myetherwallet locally before? I want to know how easy the procedure is and whether it's as simple as downloading the source code from Github and running it in your browser? Also, is it possible to configure it to connect to your own node instead of using Etherscan.io or something else?
75  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Beware of PayPal and other reversible transfer services on: April 30, 2019, 09:46:33 AM
And get stabbed and robbed. The early success of Bitcoin came because drug dealers and their users didn't have to meet face to face anymore. They could send BTC anonymously and receive drugs in the mail. That way, law enforcement couldn't pretend to be buyers eithers. Cause the seller would remain anonymous. It's what drove most traffic on Silk Road 1.

But I guess if you like to be kidnapped, robbed, stabbed, tortured, go ahead and meet people in person with $$$ cash on you.

That scenario is likely to happen when you do it in the wrong places. If one does his trades in public places where there is security like inside a bank etc.  then I don't see what could go wrong.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / [WTS] Xera tokens (cheaper than ICO) on: April 27, 2019, 01:57:16 PM
I'm not advertising it as anything but It's an exchange token and we all know how these tokens are solid when it comes to the price, BNB is an example for that.

The exchange will be launching soon. The ICO price was 0.5 USD per Token. I'm letting them go at 0.4 USD.

78  Other / Meta / Trust system on: January 19, 2019, 03:28:27 PM
I remembered reading somewhere that leaving trust more than once on someone's profile will give an effect like trust has been given by multiple people, like this:

Quote
Trust:    2: -0 / +2

But I was checking some people's profile lately and apparently, it only counts as 1. In other words, If a DefaultTrust member leaves me a positive feedback 10 times, It will only count as one.

Does that have anything to do with the recent changes in the trust system or this has always been the case?
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does anybody know.. on: January 19, 2019, 01:04:11 PM
You can find everything regarding the coin in their ann thread. I'm not sure If there is a team behind it though or it's simply by the community, you could check the GitHub, Discord & Telegram for more info.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: I need ETH for Gift card. Trusted gift card buyers please reply here on: December 31, 2018, 07:03:10 PM
I would suggest using Paxful for that purpose but It's going to be hard a little bit because there will be some lack of trust. Gift card providers tend to sell them with a discount because they're usually obtained from carding.
