61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: August 11, 2015, 01:09:02 PM

How is that a threat? If I tell you that if you go to your neighbor's yard, pull down your pants and take a huge steaming smelly dump, call him an idiot and his kids retards and his car piece of shit, he will knock your teeth out - is that a threat in your silly little head?

And if you wonder how that example is relevant, go through your post history. And if you still can't figure it out, ask your momma to explain it to you.

I'm not an expert on trolling, but my guess would be that he's just trying put words into people's mouths so that he can report them to moderators and get them banned. Or, maybe he's really into S & M and secretly hopes that someone will actually give him a good spanking :-)

For the record, Dash is a direct fork of bitcoin core and not litecoin as stated by a 'Dev'

Dash is a fork of litecoin according to github. Bitcoin code may have been merged/replaced later but let's not rewrite history, despite some history being inconvenient.

You can't change it by yourself, you can only delete old repo, fork it from scratch and upload code back to fix that link. This however will drop all stars, watchers, issues, pull requests and wiki afaik. Or you can ask github staff to relink your base fork point and hope they have time for it.
Since it's never been a real issue but just a cosmetic one we didn't really bother doing this.

What is inconvenient about github regarding Dash as a fork of Litecoin is that you can't search the repo's code:

https://github.com/dashpay/dash/search?q=printf&type=Code&utf8=%E2%9C%93

Of course for developers, this is not an issue, since you just search locally in your IDE, but for occasionally interested parties, it makes it more inconvenient to contribute

And 'Adam Weiss' is in this list... is this our troll Adam White? I don't hope so.

I would guess both of them are variations of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Weishaupt. Conspiracy nuts love this guy..

How come DRK DASH isn't participating in the LTC revaluation ?

Because LTC is a legitimate (IE 100% POW, fairly launched, decentralized) project, rather than a shitty insta-mined scam like DRK DASH or whatever it's being called this week.

I figured that there was a simple explanation.

Well, you know what they say: For every complex question, there is an answer that is simple, elegant, and wrong :-)

Too scary word.  Cheesy

"Consolidated and redirected" sounds much better  Smiley.

Great result!!!  Cool

no need to fear deactivated
there are good things in there

Question: Is it really necessary for the new Jira to be for authenticated users only? The old one only required an account when you wanted to post something, but browsing was possible anonymously

I was being somewhat ironic  Grin
In my country it means feck off and comes from the medieval use of the bow and arrow using those 2 fingers to shoot somebody that got shown to the French just before a big battle.

Yes, the Battle of Agincourt. It's most likely an invented story (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_sign#Bowman_explanations), but an entertaining one nonetheless :-)

^^^^ You are correct ^^^^

It's for the MN cold-side on the "server's" and Pi's

Hey bro im getting this...

/usr/bin/dashR: line 4: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
/usr/bin/dashR: line 4: `<!DOCTYPE html>'

Smiley i have cold wallet setup

did you follow the readme file??

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MangledBlue/DASH/MangledBlue-dashR-1/README.md

What "editor" did you use to make the dashR file with?
You're using this on the server-side of the MN?
Line 4 in the code is an empty line..... hummmm

Whelp - it is on github - if somebody wants to clean it up......
Works fine on my side - - - hummmm

My guess would be that he downloaded https://github.com/MangledBlue/DASH/blob/MangledBlue-dashR-1/dashR, i.e. the Github HTML page (they have DOCTYPE html on line 4 if you look at the source). Solution: Download https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MangledBlue/DASH/MangledBlue-dashR-1/dashR instead :-)

The name is similar and is causing confusion. So, in light of this: why was the name "Dash" chosen?

it seems that Dash was suggested by someone one BCT a while ago as an abbreviation (of sorts) for Digital Cash. but I'm pretty sure that was mentioned in the article you've read. If you're really interested, go back a couple of hundred pages in this thread, there is an extremely exhaustive discussion of Dashcoin, Dash the wahsing powder, and a lot of other things using similar names, as well as the rationale for the name switch

Not sure if this was posted already, but does anyone know how to fix the BitcoinWisdom problem with the Cryptsy DRKBTC tracker? Since a couple of days, it shows me only a handful of data points from 2015-10-02. I don't want to have to wait until October to use the site again...

Quick question: Should I be worried that Udjin is now (also?) a Coin2.1 dev?

https://github.com/UdjinM6/Coin2.1

Worried? It's open-source movement. You work/invest where it inspires you. I once played for three bands at the same time.

Well, worried in the sense that he'll divide his limited time between two (or more) projects I mean. Seeing how you post here pretty often I'd venture to guess that none of your three bands ever made it to the big time, either :-)

Of course it's open source and he should work on whatever he finds most interesting, it's just that as an investor I'd find it midly unsettling if that isn't Dash

How to switch off the automatic backups of the wallets in v11.2.23?

Couldn't you just set createwalletbackups to 0?
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: May 02, 2015, 10:38:09 PM
sure i understand what you saying...but im talking about transferring money, using money for something else....

and imagine, how can they stop me...to sell you 10 eggs for 0.01 DASH via phone in middle of street?? how?

cant trace eggs, LOL

and hell they cant trace DASH... so ... Cheesy

Sure, "under the radar" stuff like buying something small on a flea market or whatever would be hard to prosecute, but then the person accepting your payment will also be limited to private or otherwise unofficial transactions (i.e. they won't be able to pay their rent with it), which means very little fungibility
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: May 02, 2015, 10:26:43 PM
http://www.alt-market.com/articles/2545-they-are-slowly-making-cash-illegal

damn, now i love DASH even more... fuck you OBSERVERS Cheesy

quote:

So why are they doing this?

The truth is that they want to discourage the public from using cash.  Our government, just like governments all over the planet, is not being shy about the fact that it does not like cash.  If they can make people afraid to use cash, that suits their purposes very well.

And i could not resist not to comment...

I hate to be a downer, but if you can't use cash, what makes you think that "they" will allow you to use digital cash? Sure, it could be kind of hard to track down holders, but all they'd have to do would be to make it illegal for businesses to accept it.

I was holding off on dropping a new Windows wallet build until I could include the escrow manager.  If you want a build sooner let me know, I can do one with the I2P stuff.  The code is already up in github.

The issue with darksend is that there is a hardcoded collateral address in there, which I find a little scary.  I want to look at it and evaluate it before making that stuff visible in the UI again.

jase there are a couple of ways to achieve connection encryption like that.  We use something like that under the hood for the escrow orchestration and market infrastructure.

Glad other devs are finally addressing this, havent really ever seen it be discussed. There is some very sketchy stuff going on in the depths of the darksend code, I suggest all you investors dive deeper and take a look

If I'm reading this right, it's defined here:

https://github.com/dashpay/dash/blob/master/src/darksend.h#L339

and looks like this in the explorer:

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/address.dws?Xq19GqFvajRrEdDHYRKGYjTsQfpV5jyipF.htm

Any info on what happens to the funds sent there?

I think it's safe to assume AdamWhite is a fucking moron who thinks everybody is like him.

Didn't he use to have a signature advertising some other coin (I don't want to mention any names :-)) up until now? Makes me wonder why they haven't thought of this before. Trolling in "icognito mode" seems a lot safer, since it minimzes potential backlash against their project of choice

According to github, he has all of eight commits in the project's main repo

Most of my technical work on the project does not involve directly pushing code to github, as was discussed at the link below. Nevertheless the github search function is broken and doesn't show all my commits (also shown a few posts down):

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg10875573#msg10875573

Wow, that must be some pretty boring stuff that you're working on. Most coders I know have to be pried from their screens if they're working on something interesting. If they start checking their Facebook (or other disctraction of choice) every five minutes, it's usually a sign that they're bored out of their minds..

@ Smooth

I am cry baby Monero developer who can not compete with EVAN in CODING or bring something new to Monero so I cry about it here

Ehhh, just go back to ur shitcoin please

I don't want to get involved in this mud slinging, but I don't really understand why people insist on calling him a developer. According to github, he has all of eight commits in the project's main repo (https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/commits?author=iamsmooth), or slightly above 1 per month (while he did 150 BCT posts per month over the past four years). That makes him an occasional contributor at best. If you listen to what people write here, you might think he's some sort of big shot in their world. Maybe that's what attracts him to this thread in the first place :-)

Oh, you made me think of this.  Wouldn't it be awesome to show that video that shows an annimation of the development work by pulling it out of Github?  Put those side by side:  Monero and DRK/DASH, hell put in any of the coins that are in here trolling, and watch...... THAT would say it ALL!

How is it done?  I need to see this!

for making videos from SCM data, you can use this:

https://github.com/acaudwell/Gource

the side-by-side thingie should be pretty easy in some video editor (or you just put both videos side by side in an HTML page)
