Hey Cablez, I'm definitely interested in these, have you supplies arrived yet? I'm thinking about getting 3 or 4, would you have enough to make that many?

I upgraded. Now it seems the display is not working correctly. In the previous version 2.3.1 all my singles showed up in a row with all their stats except the temp. Now all that is gone and only shares submitted are getting displayed. The top bar with the total stats are still there, just not the individual ones.
Wait, am I missing something? Are you running all singles under one instance? Currently I'm running one instance per unit in order to allow correct worker reporting to the pool. Can you do that under a single instance?

Hi guys,
Until I get raspberry pi, I'm stuck running my BFL singles on my main rig (W7). I have a 10 port hub hooked up to connect them all. I have all of the drivers installed to use COM ports, and my first 5 singles take up ports 5-9 and are working fine. My problem is using ports above 9 (specifically 10-12). They are not being used for anything else according to device manager, but when I point my singles to those ports, CGminer wont recognize them. I'm using .bat files to start them, and everything works fine on the first 5.
Can anyone think of a reason that COM ports above 9 would cause problems? I tried reassigning the other ones to ports 2-4 (which were already in use), but that seemed to bring on weird BSODs. So I'm going back to trying to get the unused ports to work. Any ideas are appreciated.
Thanks!

Tomorrow will mark 13 weeks wait for me. Joy. :/
Take solace in the knowledge that you must surely be near (or at) the top of the list along with sysrun! Plus you *should* be getting the Rev3 units. Psh...15 weeks for me. However I did get 2 out of 8 units after 13 weeks.

I edited my original post to reflect that I currently have 2 units

Maybe this is noobish of me, but doesn't just mining for rewards introduce a lot of variance based on luck? Especially on short term contracts? The difference between making a hefty profit and losing money could be one reward found 10 seconds after the contract expires.
Sorry if my understanding is lacking.

![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) you are totally right. But a bottom to top airflow couldn't hurt.

Why use acrylic if you are going to be using sound dampener material. You will just be looking at the glue side. Maybe try aluminum?
Well acrylic does come in solid colors you know ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) . Mostly it's because I thought the aesthetics plus the light weight and ease of assembly (drilling, gluing, etc) made it the best choice

That does make sense, but I was thinking pull cold air in from the bottom, and exhaust it out the top. Mostly because that's the direction of the air flow that the Single's fans create. Also, hot air rises, so I was thinking that it would be more efficient.

As the rest of my singles are due to arrive soon, I am contemplating the issue of where exactly I am going to put them. I would eventually like to have them on their own computer (Raspberry Pi or a small Atom HTPC), but for now they will have to be in my room attached to my main rig. Now, even though they are quiet and don't produce as much heat as GPUs, even a couple are enough to raise the temperature of my room too much for my liking. So I'm trying to devise an enclosure for them. My best idea as of now is making a cube (2 layers stacked on top of each other) or a rectangle (1 layer) out of clear acrylic and putting peel and stick soundproofing on the inside. Then drilling holes in the back for a usb and power pass through, as well as holes on the top and bottom for ventilation. Does anyone have any ideas to make something like this? I want to really think it through before making it. I was even thinking about using flexible dryer vent pipe to route cool air in from outside and hot air back out. Let's discuss. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

I ordered a few of these with Paypal a few days ago. Other than the confirmation email from Paypal itself, I haven't heard a peep from these guys. Is this normal?
Totally normal. They're just super swamped with orders and production

I seem to be missing something when it comes to setting up cgminer and my singles.
Also odd is that I got zero documentation with my order. So, are these supposed to have drivers or something?
I got the whole creating the .bat file business but when I run it it just spits out all devices deactivated like it doesn't see anything other than my GPU. Tips?
But other than this...I am so excited!!! Hopefully the rest of my order will be here soon.

Where do people get the idea that if you have free power you would pick a less efficient FPGA? Um GPU?
perhaps FPGA actually works out cheaper when you take into account not needing an extra PC for every 4 FPGA's, unlike GPU setups. for large scale anyway. The appeal to me would mostly be less hassle for maintenance (presumably), as well as less noise, space, heat etc. To me, gpu's are still, and for a while still, will be competitive options, but not everyone has the space and ability to have multiple noisy mining rigs heating their room 24/7.

I just find it odd when people take the countless hours to work on products, and some people still cry MAKE THIS BETTER, I NEEDZ DA MONIES!

fizzisist, first off, these look awesome!
Second, I swear that I read somewhere that you were, at some point entertaining the idea of quantity discounts. Did anything ever come of this? In all of my reading, I sort of lose track of when things were said/what has happened since. And now I can't find the comment that originally made me think this.
Also, I know that this board is not yet on par performance-wise with other offerings, but improvements are planned. Is there any rough timeline on this?
Not trying to prod/demand anything, I'm just looking at the feasibility of buying a small fpga setup (~10 boards) and I want to get a good idea of what's out there.
Thirdly, these look awesome.

All of this strangely resembles how one of my family members recently got scammed. Promise of something awesome at low price with set delivery date.
To be fair— and I should apologize to the BFL folks. Beyond having a website which was linked from ~nowhere, they didn't appear to be promoting this anywhere before I made this post. I'd heard about it (with links to their site) a couple times on IRC, and I just dismissed it as "far too little info to believe". Eventually I heard from Luke-JR that he had bought one, and I was concerned that people were paying without more discussion. I now feel a little guilty thrusting BFL into the limelight before they were ready— all this debate could have been skipped if the product was already shipping by the time we heard about it. At the same time there were things in the past where I thought "this looks really suspect" and stayed away but other people got screwed because they did catch the fishy smell themselves, and I ultimately regretted not saying more. In any case, I'd recommend against adding too much weight to the fact that their announcements were premature— as that could have been partially my fault. Big promises and delays may be symptomatic of fraud, but they're also quite symptomatic of new companies. You don't want to be the insane asylum shrink who just starts diagnosing everyone who sees a butterfly on a blot card as crazy simply because most of his crazy patients also see a butterfly on the card. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Of course, there are severe costs if someone where to misidentify a scam as legit— people get ripped off— but there are also costs if they identify something legit as a scam: They hurt their credibility, they damage the reputation of the bitcoin community, they discourage new businesses, and they insult someone offering a valuable product/service. So care and consideration is required, regardless of how sure you are. Assuming everything is legit: You also should be aware of the tensions any business faces when serving our community— As a businessperson, you may want to be open with what you are doing, but being open takes a lot of time you don't have especially answering detailed technicality questions for the careful scrutiny of our expert pedants, and at the same time you don't want your competition (which includes some of the people participating in this thread) to learn enough to gain a competitive advantage. I've cringed at some of the detailed questions here— not so much because they're unfair, but because they lead to more questions and more questions... and when you've gone deep down the rat-hole it can be hard and time consuming to avoid appearing evasive while protecting your company interests and avoiding saying something which is a little factually wrong (afterall, on any given bit of technical detail one of us probably knows more than any randomly selected BFL person). I'm very much looking forward to news about testsing, and as well about shipping products which will be the real proof. Until then caveat emptor, of course. Well said. Again, I hope what I said is not misinterpreted. I am cautiously optimistic, and agree that when it comes to start ups, it is very difficult to separate fraud from normal start up...ness.

All of this strangely resembles how one of my family members recently got scammed. Promise of something awesome at low price with set delivery date. That progressed to delivery delays for minor reasons, then longer delays for progressively more ridiculous reasons. I couldn't convince them it was a scam because all I had was evidence that it was possibly a scam. The ones with their money invested obviously didn't want to hear it. And there was much arguing back and forth with nobody convincing anyone else. This is not to imply that I think BFL is scamming anyone. If this product comes anywhere near their claims it will be leaps and bounds better than anything else currently available, and I will line up to get one. However, I think that arguing over whether or not it is a scam is unproductive. Either it is a scam or it's not. Either they deliver a product that works as described, and are successful because of it, or they don't and it was a scam (or design proved impossible etc). Arguing one way or the other won't affect the outcome, but I'm more than happy to watch other people go back and forth, because it's interesting and I have nothing better to do ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

man, it took me like forever to find out about this...
Truth. If I hadn't already started reading threads in this section (trying to learn the basics), I would have spent a lot of time scratching my head as to why I couldn't post.
