61  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who has the highest hasing rate? on: April 20, 2012, 03:13:16 PM

Impressive hash rate. Did you get in early and make your investment costs back or are you still paying it back?

For my 12 GH/s I spent  $11,670 and have made back $4,000 of it.  I started on May 31, 2011.

Sam

Jesus Christ man ... I am at 8 Ghash and paid about 5500 for it.
I'm at 12GH/S and only invested about 5500 or so. I started in December 2012.

Off topic but does anyone know how to get mgpumon web interface to stop showing old miner names and stats?

you try restarting your main rig that displays mgpumon?

That fixed it thanks.

With a hint from lodcrappo in an earlier post, I've got BAMT working on an unsupported gigabyte motherboard(990fxa-UD3). I've loaded plopkexec boot manager on a second usb drive(could be loaded on cd or floppy as well) and set it as the default boot device in the bios. Plopkexec auto-detects BAMT on my second drive and I can select and boot into BAMT. Now I've got to figure out how to configure the boot manager to auto boot into a distribution so I can set up my headless miner.

http://www.plop.at/en/plopkexec.html

Plopkexec boot manager is also working for my Gigabyte 990fxa-UD3. I will try your iso next and share the results . I'm just now trying out BAMT and this was a big issue as I have several of these boards. I didn't get a answer back from Gigabyte as for when they intend to solve the bios boot problem. If they ever do. Off topic but does anyone know how to get mgpumon web interface to stop showing old miner names and stats?

Start task manager and select your miner in the processes tab and assign priority to high for each miner. That should max them out. I've had a few boards that have done this and this is what I have done to work around the issue.
65  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3800 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: April 12, 2012, 10:29:10 PM
That sounds correct for the short 29 share round but I would of at least expected a few hundred shares out of the 96659 round. The fact that I didn't even get 1 with 11 gh/s is what seems wrong.
You should get more than 260 shares from 96659-shares round. But this also may depend on your miner, your hardware (if you using something non-standard) and your luck.
This round was 2-minutes long, so if you don't get even a single share this may mean that something may be wrong with your miner. May be it was switched to your backup pool for some reason ?

Did you get any shares from 5868-long round ?

I have 8 rigs directed to you.I don't have any back up pool set up right now. I got 29 shares out of the 5868 long round. I'm on site with the rigs and all before and after rounds are correct.

66  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3800 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: April 12, 2012, 08:27:03 PM
Lucky you. I didn't get any shares that round with 11gh/s and I also didn't get any out of the round with 96659 shares. I got 29 shares out of the 5868  round so I don't understand how I could not get at least 1 share out of the round with 96659. I'll have to keep a eye on this as it seems strange to me.
With such a short round it mostly depends on how "lucky" was the getwork you got at the start and how fast did you received it.
Even someone with a slower miner can win if his share was found at the start of the nonce range for that specific getwork.

That sounds correct for the short 29 share round but I would of at least expected a few hundred shares out of the 96659 round. The fact that I didn't even get 1 with 11 gh/s is what seems wrong.

holy shit!  that share just made my day!

Lucky you. I didn't get any shares that round with 11gh/s and I also didn't get any out of the round with 96659 shares. All 3 of mine came in and look the same as new. All pulling around 300-320mh/s.
69  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: newegg 5830's for sale on: April 03, 2012, 12:37:49 PM
I have 3 of the extreme due to arrive from Newegg today. I'll update when I get them up and running. I bought 8 diamond 5830 refurbs this month and all were in like new condition except 1 had some dust on the memory chips. The fan and housing where all new. Some had different color coolers and either 3 or 4 heat pipes. All of them work great and OC to 950/315 and do 300mh/s. A good bang for the buck until 5970 become reasonably priced again or 7000 series come down some.
70  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: March 20, 2012, 05:18:06 PM
Has there been any proof at all that this is a botnet? Why are people getting so "up in arms" without solid proof?

No I don't think there is any proof yet but it's hard to imagine any other way to have so much hashing power. Yes most are jumping the gun myself included. It's better to be aware and wrong then be blind sided. If we are wrong well I'll be the first to apologize to the unknown miner. Until then we need to work together to make sure BTC is always shown in good light with good company.

GROSS, pervert!! Wink

Well it takes a pussy to fuck over mom and grandma so I'd say he/she deserves to get pounded. Don't think he/she would enjoy it though. Grin
72  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: March 20, 2012, 04:50:52 PM
I'm in the USA and believe me I know how unfair life is to allot of people in different countries.I agree that there will always be people with better resources but this is not about the price of electric and I have no reason to catch a Federal case by running a botnet. I don't need to compete with him I just need to know that my financial and ethical decision are good. The money from minig is really just a bonus to me. I don't truly need it.I'm really here to just support the idea of BTC. I could care less about the blank blocks, transaction fess, or any other things he's doing. I just don't like the idea of BTC being tied to a giant botnet. Publicity like that will only make BTC look bad and I don't think anyone here would want that either. I'm late to the game already. The start up of BTC made early users a very health profit yet I entered in December 2011 with no complaints of unfairness and not looking to make a profit. It's one thing to be at a disadvantage it's entirely different to be partnered with someone doing criminal activates. That is the same reason I won't lease out my hashing power for 110% or 120%. I don't know what its being used for so 200% would not convince me either. Yes this is business for some but it is personal for me and right now I'm helping give him a reason to steal from other.I guess it just boils down to ethics for me as I see us as one big family.I guess every family has a black sheep huh. Damn I wish he was close so I could pound the shit out of him for all the Innocent moms and grandmas footing his bill.
73  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: March 20, 2012, 03:32:47 PM
If they are using this ISP to maintain a massive botnet - the ISP will likely drop them like a bad habit - I am sure it is in violation of any TOS they may have and it would be incredibly bad PR for them and could cause them a lot of problem.

Botnets are big news lately

http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/twc/endtoendtrust/vision/botnet.aspx  < -- ClaraNet is a Microsoft Partner
http://www.csoonline.com/article/679523/us-takes-out-coreflood-botnet <-- Department of Justice & FBI take down Bonet

(etc etc etc - check google)

and no ISP is going to want to be seen as a safe haven for them
especially an ISP like CaraNet which is a Microsoft Certified Partner, Dell Partner etc etc

Agreed, problem is the node is likely just an infected computer and won't slow him down at all. There is discussion going on how to prevent blocks like this here.

Long term though, with the block reward decreasing there will be more incentive to include transactions. I don't think it's really a big problem though, and even if it were, how do you stop botnets on the bitcoin network? And would people be so upset about it if they processed transactions like any other miner?

Edit:
I really dont understand what you guys are reading in to those IPs?
The IPS are of whoever is relaying the blocks, you could be looking at the IP of deepbit, or any other pool or random bitcoin user.

So your saying its what? A hacked linux box some place? My senile mothers zombie laptop?

we could still  start an investigation that could point in the direction of the botnet

we could still get lucky

it certainly cant hurt Tongue

Like my Dad always told me, "You'll never get lucky if you don't try."  Wink

Yes I think most miners would still have a problem with it. Some of us have more money then other to invest in BTC but we are all on a level playing field. Would you still by a farm of GPU for mining when only 1 person has access to ASIC now and you never will?
74  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: March 20, 2012, 02:20:32 PM
I guess I see this as a big problem and many don't. It's crazy how people have sigs that say Deepbit the enemy of Bitcoin. When it is a official pool and right in our face
as open as can be with thousands of honest miners making up the hash rate. Yet we have a unknown miner with massive amounts of hash power that really can't be explained
not raising any real concern. I guess because he is unknown we have not right to question? Yet we will bash any legitimate pool that get to big.OK I'm lost someone who has been
here longer tell me why Deepbit is untrusted yet solo miner deserves all this respect for his operation?
75  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: March 20, 2012, 01:56:22 PM
I agree that Mt.Gox should not give out any info. I also think that no type of police or law enforcement should be involved with BTC ever. This is probably the biggest community of
educated computer people in the world and we need to provide security for own interest and not invite government in our circle. Do you really think they are smarter than
all the educated minds we have here?
76  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: March 20, 2012, 01:29:15 PM
I have not been here long but I have been a computer tech for over 15 years. I am currently mining with about 8gh/s and would like to keep expanding. My concerns with this
situation might mean very little to some but i thinks most honest miners would feel the same way. This person is more than likely to have infected more computers then I can imagine.
I have cleaned computers infected to the point they are almost useless. Yes I know that these infected probably don't effect the performance like a regular virus.Still the fact that innocent people are being subjected to theft and paying for this asshole to profit is a disgrace to BTC in my opinion. Do we really want BTC associated with this criminal activity?Stealing CPU and GPU cycles and having thousands of innocent people foot the bill is just plan wrong. I don't think BTC would ever be accepted on a larger scale with a big portion on the so called security being done by the world biggest stolen bot net. I do have a problem with this and would like to know how other true miners feel and not speculators.I don't know the laws in any place but USA but this is criminal here in the states.

78  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Dell 5970 reports 3 cores, other 5970 not working - crossfire problem? on: March 13, 2012, 11:39:24 PM
If both show as master then someone definitely flashed it. Flash it with a slave and you will be good to go.
I accidentally flashed a 6950 unlocked shader bios to my 5970 while at a remote location.I had to jump the flash chip to
even get any flash software to write to the bios after that. It's back alive but was a fun adventure.
79  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3600 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: March 07, 2012, 11:43:41 PM
I didn't have a power outage so I guess that would only leave Internet service. It's stable here in the USA but it was only like 11 minutes for all 4 rounds.
I would not of noticed if it went down and back on that quick. Thanks for looking in to it for me.Like I said it's the first time seeing the problem so I'm sure it
was just my Internet or something stupid.I've been running stable with no problems since I started mining so I can't complain. Thanks again and I appreciate
all you effort you put into your pool and forum.
80  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3600 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: March 07, 2012, 02:38:04 PM
The blocks in question are.
169998 2min
169999 3min
170000 6min
170001 less minute

My rigs are running 24/7 and didn't have any power outage. I'm mining with aoclbf and phat kernel. Yes my balance increasing with other round but
the round in question show no shares or increase in balance. I have been mining with you a while and first time I have seen this on my end.
Thanks for your time.
