61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PotCoin | THE OFFICIAL COINS FOR THE CANNABNIS INDUSTRY | Launched 01/21 @ 4:20 on: September 04, 2014, 04:19:28 AM
Haven't been posting here, but meaning to, just LOVE this coin!!

Anyway, is it just me or did anyone else notice the MintPal list of coins soon to be offered on the V2 platform, run by moohaha...

Potcoin is not on the list!   Although I've not yet removed my coins we'll soon have to would be my guess.  Was looking forward to trading them their, but unless they change their mind, my guess is we're going to loose a major trading platform....

http://blog.moolah.io/2014/09/01/mintpal-v2-tentative-market-listing/

Other notes, as soon as I get a chance, want to start a new thread specifically on this exchange, I found it listed in the first post on this thread a couple months ago.  My trades over the last 6 weeks on Hashflo.net, were extremely profitable, the platform worked very well (just no volume), I sold somewhere around 1700 potcoins, netting north of .5 btc in the process...
https://hashflo.net/

The problem is none of you here seem to be over their to trade, so at the moment I pulled out and sure would be willing to go back in if we could get some volume, its a little different to use, as far as exchanges go, yet once I learned how it worked,  went really well for me.....

I'm still concerned over what the default minimum Ixcoin transaction fee should be set @

If Ixcoin goes up to where I think it should be, the current level is fine....actually I haven't a clue.  If the price stays low or goes to near zero, we had better plan on having a large transaction fee in place.

Don't think we should be letting anybody send coins with a zero transaction fee though, its soon going to cause us problems and I'm leaning toward a very high minimum.  Like one coin.

If nobody speaks up, it's going to be whatever ahmed_bodi decides it should be set at, and come to think of it, I'm curious about what his opinion is on that point as well as any other miners/devs listening in.  Note: If all you have to say is this coin is dead, please don't respond.  It's far far from dead and has a long history that is only going to get much longer.

@markm - Hope you got things working with an upgraded client?  If not let us know.

ETA:
@Nasakioto - You must have thought about this day allot, any ideas or opinions appreciated too...

Hi,

I haven't read through all the forum posts since I last checked last month. Apparently ahmed_bodi has developed or is developing an update to 0.9.2. I'm happy to look at it and maybe someone can send me a link to the release/code. If the community has an opinion on his work, please let me know too. If it looks good and the community is fine with it, I can pay the bounty.

I see someone is mentioning updating ixcoin.org. I'm happy to give a trusted someone access to ixcoin.org to put more updates there as I don't have the time to work on it myself.

Greetings Thomas!

Ditto cinnamon_carter's suggestions.  As you can see that github branch is forked off this location:
https://github.com/IXCoin-Dev/IXCoin

Unless you want to work something out with ahmed_bodi to obtain the github.com/ixcoin repository, it will become the new official ixcoin developers link for 9.2 and beyond.

For my part, I've been testing the win32 exe on an XP SP3 computer, and it's working fantastic, from a client wallet users pov:
Windows QT: https://www.dropbox.com/s/743o27bf80g850o/ixcoin-qt-0.9.2.1-win32.zip

The only problem I've found so far, besides a very few cosmetic issues, is that an upgrade from your v0.3.24.3 client first MUST be made with FrictionlessCoin's v8.6 wallet, then the upgrade from there to 9.2 has been working perfectly and was nearly instantaneous.  That executable found here:
http://www.ixcoin.co/?page_id=21

Note: No coins have ever been lost by me in sending/receiving between any of the 3 versions.  The above issue ONLY matters if an old coin holder wants to migrate 3+ years of blockchain files from the v0.3.24.3 client to the new 9.2.1 client, they must first upgrade to the 8.6 version, then the 9.2.1 we're about to release.  Anyone can re-download ALL 3+years of blockchain at any time, with any version.

My intention is to produce a ixcoin-bootstrap-20140xxx.zip file as close to right after the last mined coins appear, then make it available for download and/or via a torrent....

Note to community:  Assuming FrictionlessCoin is no longer involved, whomever paid for and/or is going to be in charge of the new or rejuvenated ixcoin.org site, needs to grab all the content from the ixcoin.co website that seems useful to us moving forward as the new community, expect it to disappear.  Note that FrictionlessCoin also has those executables up on SourceForge here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ixcoin-ng/files/iXcoin/ixcoin-0.8.6/beta/
And the source is on his GitHub repository, I've copies of all those files, but not anything else that might be on the ixcoin.co site.

Best of luck to you Thomas, as much as I would have liked to qualify for that bounty, my hats off to ahmed_bodi for getting this done, I'm certain it will be only a matter of days after he's thoroughly tested the new ixcoin merged mining code on PolyMYR pools, before he's able to give us a complete release that meet your requirements.

Thanks for planting the seed  Grin

@cinnamon_carter  Looking forward to your compile testing....

@Community - Are we going to have a wiki.ixcoin.org site as well?  If not we should change references in the new ixcoin 9.2 client code (console help) back to reference the bitcoin.org wiki....

Just noticed something else funny.... placing trades on cex.io for selling ANC, they won't let a value be larger than 0.01....must be pessimistic  Shocked

That will change, they did the same kinda thing on IXC when first opening up trading, people didn't put in enough zeros on their buy orders...haha
Is cex.io this important? i always saw it as scam due to what they sold before (no more cloud mining scam?).

Ya I do think it is a pretty big deal, if you/me/we care about having higher prices for zANC.  Time will tell....won't go on and on about it, was just trying to be informative.

@coinmainz - Nice opportunity for some larger investors than I.  As your a Newbie with one post, it might help you to post a blockchain address where this asset is located.

I keep getting errors from IXCoind:

Anyone know what that even means?

Which version of program are you running?  3.x, 8.x or the 9.2 under test?

@CartmanSPC - Ya saw that too.   Angry

Thanks for bringin it up, now curious about what other pools are also mining it that way and what the options are, the only one I would accept is no conversion.  Will be checking in there once in awhile, and will keep a close eye on if that changes, had been several months since I even looked.  Sorry to have forgotten to mention that in my post.

Suggestion for wiki mining pool page update:
Separate list for those pools which allow no conversion to other coins while mining...
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 31, 2014, 08:05:00 PM
Hi Can anyone tell me a decent pool to mine Anoncoin?

Thanks
Here's a list of pools that support anoncoin (maybe there are more):

Anoncoin mining pools

I've used fushionhash in the past without any problems.

Thanks for that I have already looked at those and they is hardly anyone mining them. The net hash is over 4G so they must be somewhere else

Decent, can't speak to that, however as cex.io has proven to me its comparably sound in the cryptoworld, I just happen to be exploring, this morning, their ghash.io multipool coins being mined, ANC is definitely there and actively being mined:
https://ghash.io/MULTI

Was going to update the wiki.anon page, and add it, then realized not just anyone can modify content, so there you go.

@lunokhod2 - Still digesting your massively great effort on the wiki!

@gostrol - Thanks for the update & anoncoin.conf settings, works like a charm for me!
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 29, 2014, 04:14:42 AM
Wow this could be great news for ANC, it's just got listed on CEX.io as a bitcoin trading pair, volume so far is ZERO, no buy/sell orders, but that WILL change...

https://cex.io/trade#ANC-BTC

You might have to be logged in to access that link, expect some serious volatility as this gets rolled out!

GR

ETA: Transfer of some coin from Cryptsy to CEX.io took only a few minutes...

ETA2: It should be noted that, once there, if you try to withdraw ANC, it is set @ a 1000ANC commission!  This freaked me out at first, then I realized that POT, WDC and MEC coins were also newly listed today and also set to 1000 coins for a withdrawal, my guess is that the programming on these new additions is a work *in progess*, so don't get to alarmed over removing your coin at the moment, I'm sure they will set a withdrawal fee to fair market values in each asset, just wanted to let everybody know about what I'm finding and what is happening over there....

That is Great news Palmdetroit, spent the last week doing just as you suggested, cleaned up my crazy networking setup and now port forwarding 16281 to the client running here full node most of the time, all working well.  Will pm you if my schedule allows, happy to help with testing the latest...
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 29, 2014, 03:41:42 AM
For those that don't follow IXC on CEX.io, it's price was crushed ~9hrs ago....big seller took it down to 110sat

Hope to have given some serious hours testing more aspects of the new 9.2 client this coming week, still looking real sweet and no problems to report.  Now that I've cleaned up my networking mess and can port forward to the machine running the client, it will be on there as a full node allot of the time.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 28, 2014, 11:15:03 PM
Just came on to voice my support for allot of your latest ideas matthewh3...

Way out of my league speaking up, only a few months into really putting allot of time in to figuring out a small fraction of this stuff, and then mostly my efforts have been in regard to Ixcoin and how to bring it's code base up to the bitcoin core 9.2 level and keep it current going forward as the block rewards hit zero within the next 2 months, now after 3+yrs, it will be out of newly mined coins, and survive on only transaction fees or die trying.

Thanks goes out to ahmed_bodi for an extremely quick code upgrade, over the course of only a few days here in Aug 2014, a new Ixcoin 9.2 core client was born, nearly complete source is up on github & can be found here:
https://github.com/IXCoin-Dev/IXCoin

I not privy to whom he is, other than knowing he's involved with the Myriadcoin development and PolyMYR mining interests, the code (linked above) has to be tested on PolyMYR yet and undoubtedly will have some final AuxPoW tweaks before being finalized & released into the wild.  Then also CEX.io (aka ghash.io multipool) is standing firm on their commitment to IXC, where it will have to also be thoroughly tested before implementation into their pools.  We'll see....

My current opinion is that 'How' a developer implements AuxPoW, is at best a tricky proposition, one that takes allot of different parameters into consideration.  To do it well with a Scrypt coin like zAnoncoin should be fairly straightforward, yet honestly I've not tried to take a close look at what will be required, there are only a very few implementations out, it sure does look like there is taking place an explosion of in code around this topic.

Considering all the various build tool requirements and various code base branches, it's not just a quick fix to drop into use for older coins with established blockchains and investors to consider, unless you've got the resources of a mining multipool at your finger tips for testing.  Ixcoin was easy for him, it is bitcoin except for a few lines of code difference, and then the fact it has been merge-mined alongside the likes of NMC & DVC, for many years now, already proven code at the 3.x,6.x & 8.x code base levels.  Its not my call, but Meeh was asking for opinions and implementing an Scrypt version of AuxPow would be a really great step towards strengthening zAnoncoin's position going forward IMO.....

The reason for all my discussion on ixc, is it points out how important that mining interests are satisfied, even for us zAnoncoin enthusiasts, many of us whom would probably rather not have to care about them.  Protecting a coins network with lots of hash is a security feature we all want to be able to depend on and need to make this work, in a mutually beneficial way.  As the price of zANC jumps up, mining it will be very profitable for them, lets make it easy and in so doing it will provide us with security and low transaction fee costs.  At least that is obviously my 'hope'  Tongue

An AuxPow Scrypt implementation right now should do the trick, let the merged-mined blocks appear in the zANC blockchain as proof of work.  As to getting into multiple or different algorithms, I've yet to wrap my mind around why it is needed, undoubtedly tech changes will require it, but some algorithms will also have been found to fail or worse.

Love this coin, its one of my favorite: STONES!

Got just enough to start minting, already its doing so very nicely having added over 30 stones and about to birth 6 more.  Even @ these prices its expensive to me, yet I see it going back above 20000+

...it really works good, and should be on BTC's Most favorite POS coins list...
 Grin

Some questions/problems:

1) http://phstones.com/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi

Seems that phstones.com is no more...

2) So this leads me to the opening post on this [ANN] thread, besides the dead website link, there are 3 images at the bottom of the post that show 'Image invalid'. 'Unlock wallet if Locked' & 'Minting When stake icon is green' text are the only things that show.

3) Right now I've between 9-11 nodes connected, nice.....Typically it's been between 4 and 6, sometimes my connections are so bad, the client is stuck in a 'blocks behind condition' for long periods of time, was going to check out the coin's website, looking for a newer current 'addnode' list (again), and found the above suspendedpage.cgi

Been running with a philosopherstone.conf file list from http://dns.phstones.com/ on 7/27/2014, that had 57 ip addr's in it, allot.  Could list them here if anybody wants them, but I'm thinking of deleting my peers.dat and starting fresh without them.  Anybody have a few solid connection suggestions for a typically connected usa node, like me?

@Palmdetroit - To tied up in other source code to really dig into your work, your contribution here is obviously immense and PHS has become one of the 'proof of' coin's that I was looking for & planning to accumulating long term.

so....

...been wondering.  What is it going to take to keep the website open?  Any plans for a upgrade?

The client tells me:
Copyright © 2009-2012 Bitcoin Developers
Copyright © 2012 PPCoin Developers
Copyright © 2013 NovaCoin Developers
Copyright © 2013-2014 Philosopherstone Developers

Ok So...to me at least, THAT looks like a fairly complex question to answer, and depends on the PPCoin and/or NovaCoin developers too.

If you could, appreciate any time you might have to tell us your thoughts and/or comment on possible donation needs, timetables, upgrade plans etc.

ETA: The more I think about it, the client is one of the few, I don't think needs any upgrade @ this time, just having a good connection is problematic.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 22, 2014, 02:11:46 AM
Yap, well said Vlad.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 22, 2014, 01:44:04 AM
As of today we have no list of miners and what 'Tx fee' they will require in order to process your request to send money over the Ixcoin network, I've been using 0.001 in the client(s) a long time, and never have a delay in sending, more than likely, it could be set to zero and the miners are building your transactions in there for free.  Don't expect that to continue very much past the last mined block...

As cinnamon_carter pointed out, some clients force a minimum, others do not.  How do we want our new 0.9.2 client to act?  I vote for a default min Tx of 0.001 ixc in the next release, as long as it's constructive, would appreciate others with an opinion on that subject.

So in order to compile a list of what the current Tx fee's are, the only thing we can do right now, is use the various exchange withdrawal fees as a proxy for that minimum.  NOTE: Cex.io is mining (via ghash.io) as well as offering you trades to bitcoin on their site, the others are simply exchanges:

The withdrawal fees are:
Cex.io           0.001 ixc withdrawal fee
Cryptsy.com  0.000700 ixc withdrawal fee
Vircurex.com 10.0 ixc  minimum, withdrawal fee 8.0 ixc  (OUCH!)
Poloniex.com  0.01 ixc withdrawal fee
Swisscex.com 0.05 ixc with a 0.1 minimum

Sidenote: Wow - 24hr trading volume on cex.io just shot up to 29850 ixc in the last few hours...

ETA: Based on today's ixc price of ~0.00006, the Vircurex withdrawal fee is still only ~0.00048 btc, as Ixcoin price rises, that number will have to come down, IMO we can look at that 8.0 ixc withdrawal fee as a high water mark for what miners can expect to earn for a transaction fee from participants, otherwise it would be cheaper to just use bitcoin for the transfer.  Remember though: a miner is collecting as many transaction as possible to make a block, so added together, those fees could really add up to some serious Cheddar over time.  The balance between price discovery and transaction fee costs is the experiment we're about to begin.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 22, 2014, 12:27:27 AM
Another little experiment:

http://ixcoin.wix.com/blockchain

Reminder: less then 2% left to mine.

Like it allot, think that it would be nice to also have a 'rich list' link, where a visitor can also explore those 'old' & 'mysterious' never been touched blocks...

77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 22, 2014, 12:17:06 AM
Forgot to add Swisscex.com to the list of Ixcoin exchanges...

Can anybody get this api link to work, all it does is give me a 504 Gateway Time-out:
http://api.swisscex.com/v2/quote/IXC

The API command is formatted badly or its related to the trouble I've been having lately getting to that exchange.

Their trading market page is here:
https://www.swisscex.com/market/IXC_BTC

78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 21, 2014, 11:28:17 PM
Really i've stopped working on the IXC source for now. Im finishing up on the PolyMYR code so i can start testing properly and then once i know its all working good then i can finish off the final bits which are left (Logo's, New Win/Linux/Mac Clients. Ubuntu PPA)

Ya figured that, sounds really great!  Still, enjoy getting updates how that testing is going, otherwise see the source/executable release as virtually ready.

Interesting yes, I have no animosity to Ix, so there is no inflation or increase in tx fees planned? How will the coin keep hashing?

Transaction fees.  It's the future for POW coins, merge mined, sealed and delivered.  Were they'll go, its anybodies guess.

Where can I buy this coin?

and why is ixcoin.org not updated?

"Ixcoin maturity will be reached ~18 years before Bitcoin's. By mid-2013, the number of IXC and BTC will reach parity (for a brief moment). "

Guess I'll let Vlad take that last question, hope I've answered some of your other questions already, Ixcoin is listed on 4 exchanges that I can think of...
Cex.io
Cryptsy.com
Vircurex.com
Poloniex.com

This thread (Ixcoin TODO) is your best resource on the latest info, unfortunately it comes with allot of emotional baggage to wade through, although a trader might argue that could be a good thing for volume.  As far as websites, you've got to consider most of the stuff out there is now obsolete, or badly out-of-date.  There are new resources coming online, but it is a work in progress.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 21, 2014, 11:06:02 PM
I am going to take a guess here and state that there will be a minimum 'fee' posted or 'fee schedule' posted for sending iX when the network reaches this level of maturity.  Until someone says something we will not know.

Ya leave the client code alone for now, I'm kinda leaning towards having on the ixcoin webpage a current summary of the transaction fees being charged by miners, those whom are building blocks for the chain and *WE* need to pay.  Also current charges from the exchanges for withdrawals, would be nice.

80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 21, 2014, 10:45:07 PM
The following exchange public API links return Ixcoin/Bitcoin trading pair results as JSON strings:

https://cex.io/api/ticker/IXC/BTC
http://pubapi.cryptsy.com/api.php?method=singleorderdata&marketid=38
https://api.vircurex.com/api/get_info_for_1_currency.json?base=BTC&alt=IXC
https://poloniex.com/public?command=returnTicker&currencyPair=BTC_IXC

Well that's a start, trying to get the list together....What other exchanges are we on now?
