the attack can also happen in order to STABILIZE bitcoin. the more people are unsatisfied with mtgox, the more they will flock to other exchanges and STABILIZE the bitcoin ecosystem. we do not need one huge centralized exchange. remember this!
These are my thoughts to an extent. Down with Walmart. *ren and stimpy stinky face* Anarchy!

Runner up would be the panic buy at 138 the other day....then the crash. The hole where my heart should be is too young for this. Eating and sleeping have become difficult.
Don't worry. I have panic bought several times at all time highs, ever since when it was $20 (in February, this year). There has not been a weekly negative since... ever(?) Thanks. A voice that speaks from experience is always nice. Keeping up with mainstream media coverage helps, as well. Even though the price hasn't gone up much since the buy, the future looks promising(at least in the short term, long term, who knows). The Btc Atm talk has me pretty excited. I like winning.

My answer is decentralized exchanges. A peer-to-peer decentralized exchange, like bitcoin.
How to make this work? I have no idea. One of the awesome coders here will have to figure that nightmare out...
However, if Bitcoin is the answer to our monetary problems today, then a P2P exchange is clearly the answer to our centralized exchange problem.
...Just like Bittorrent is the answer to our restricted information problems.
...Just like Mesh Networking will be the answer to our Centralized ISP problem.
...Just like DEFCAD Search will be the answer to our restricted products problem.
I believe that the answer to every major problem facing us today, in all walks of life from medicine to economics to space exploration, is always to make a Peer-to-peer solution and those who care about the problem will indeed solve it.
+1 for a lovely post. Can anyone +1 on this forum? I cannot. Here's an imaginary canary then. Enjoy!

With E1 in here that didn't invest and ignored the coin for too long.

The lag is annoying, and it is not normal. Take your business to other venues, boys! For most of us, the liquidity in Bitstamp is well enough.
Other points: - incoming funds credited after 1-2 days, not 3-7 days - lower fees - I was verified the same day for 6-figure business, no hassles so far - MtGox verification was 30 days, back last year
MtGox has always seemed like the Walmart of bitcoin to me and I just don't trust em(gut feeling, no real reason). So far, bitfloor has been working well for me(it seems), but I have recently been wondering if there is anything I can do to protect the coin/usd I am playing with. The coin I am saving is on an external HD, but it would be a hard hit if I lost the few I have on the floor right now. Experience based learning is rough at this point. MPEx....

So when/if this happens in one's country, if you have no cash in the bank, but loads of BTC to cash out, how exactly does that work? Is it easy for the banks to stop/limit withdrawals? Can you cash out anon?
Sig reads that this happened to you, are you doing well despite the crisis?
Condolences, btw. Needless to say, things are tough and getting tougher all over, it seems.

Hopefully one day I will understand more about all this. It's a lot to take in and I just found out about Litecoin last night, which adds to the pile. Why didn't I pay more attention when it came to economics....that's right, I went to public school, it wouldn't have mattered. ![Lips sealed](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/lipsrsealed.gif) Marking for later lurking, rl calls....loudly.

I'm still not breathing; bought in at 138. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) Relax, you're not the first to buy in at or near a short-term peak. Long term, you'll be fine. Why, thanks. That actually did make me feel better. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) But I will only breathe a little bit.

Will bitcoin ATMs help any? Or will that just raise familiarity/awareness/availability and decrease stability for a while? http://money.cnn.com/2013/04/04/investing/bitcoin-atms/I thought day trading and speculators added stability to the market. Apologizing for my ignorance, I'm new to this and kinda young....
