61  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Undervolt S3 line voltage with variac. What would happen? on: October 19, 2015, 08:34:52 AM
After some but never enough reading, pencil modding an S3 is way less effective than was modding an S1, neither of which I've done.
Adding resistors would mean my finding someone competent to do it for me.

I'm now considering, just considering I say, buying begging or stealing a 9 volt power supply.
Much more reading to do, but it has popped up as a possible option when running some of the higher 'S' boxes.
62  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Oct 11 to Nov 11 Sidehack stick pool club. on: October 19, 2015, 07:50:17 AM
huh oh
..or is the purpose of the *.stick addy for telling how many sticks vs how many stick users?

I think you are OK. As I am following it one stick goes go .stick and then the rest of your hash is .donation. part a is per stick and you get a whole share so for 30 people its 12.5 bitcoin devided by 30.  Then he adds up the shares for everyone and proportionally devides the rest of the 12.5 bitcoin that's part b.

I think there might be mix of stuff right now at the various addys Smiley

I added this part tp an edit:

I think it would be kinda cool to see single stick hashes at the stick addy as you could tell the monster insane overclocks on that table that cryptoglance put up. put the best killer clocked stick at the stick addy for bragging right heh even more fun for stick users. however dont want to complicate things much, you already have done loads.'

but dont want to overcomplicate things. the whole point is to be easy.

Seeing the monster overclocks would be very cool. We could work each day to claw our way higher and higher in the heap. Some of us, like me, would probably burn our stick or hub out trying to get there, but yes it would be very cool.

'lol @ medicare part a & b'

I may have need to talk to you about that in 4 or 5 years.
64  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Oct 11 to Nov 11 Sidehack stick pool club. on: October 18, 2015, 08:45:33 PM
May be confused, may be not.
I want one (or more?) sticks at .peptostick.
I don't yet recognize the benefit of having more than one stick pointed there.
I have two sticks so I expect to point one at Part A, and put the 2nd one on a donation name (Part B).
This is beginning to sound like Medicare. I hope there's no Part C.
I also have ~100GH that I might play with and would put on Part B, unless of course I defect for a while to see if I can put a few penny's in my wallet.

Phil, kindly create a .peptodonation user. I'll start mining to it shortly.
65  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Undervolt S3 line voltage with variac. What would happen? on: October 18, 2015, 02:09:35 PM
I've actually done that phil to a large part, and it worked. You lose one fan but that's easily overcome if needed.
I got down to around 190 watts, but I don't think I tried the lowest limit frequencies. I'll give it another shot.

OK, I call it success.

S3
freq. 100
temp.38 and very quiet
87 watts
101 GH avg. after 14 hrs.

Compared it to the stats of a Rockminer R-box (32GH @45 watts) so I'm doing much better than that.

I'm happy today!

In edonkeys minera-cgminer,

Manual options
You have chosen to add all options manually, I will only add for you the pools list, you have to take care of the rest.

--compac-freq 225

Did I read somewhere that I can add a 'suggested difficulty' after the frequency?

I ask because when I decide to change something and get mining again, it seems I have to wait (up to 1/2 hour)  till I hit a 1K share for cksolo to down regulate my share difficulty.

Is there some line I can type in there to start out at diff 21 or so. A cut and paste line would be good as I don't understand the dashes and overall syntax. TX.

Thanks, I didn't understand this. Can you point me to where it is explained?
69  Other / Meta / Unauthorized signature ads being added to posts. on: October 13, 2015, 06:27:12 PM
I made a post today and when I came back to see if any replies, someone added a sig ad.
Poking around, I found that a number of original posts had a sig ad. Like mine, I bet that
many of these are not placed by the poster.  Any thought's on how this is happening and how to stop it?
(lets see if this post gets an ad)
70  Bitcoin / Mining support / Undervolt S3 line voltage with variac. What would happen? on: October 13, 2015, 01:00:26 PM
I'm sure this would be ridiculous even to me if I half knew what I was asking but..
Suppose I simply plugged an S3 into a variable transformer, started it out at full line voltage, and slowly tweaked the voltage down.
I'm guessing it would work to a point because many homes have less than 'advertised' line voltage.
I'm sure it would just shut down at some point but would I burn anything out or ruin my miner by trying this?
Essentially I'm wanting to run at around 100 watts on my kill-O-watt meter and I only expect around 80/100 Gh.
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reversion to the mean on: October 09, 2015, 01:03:59 AM
I love reading stuff when I don't have a clue about what I'm reading.
Are you guys seriously concerned about this or are you just bantering because you're getting paid to do so? You all do it well, whatever it is you're doing, and I really do enjoy reading things I don't understand. So Tally- ho, or whatever I mean. Maybe you've got some ideas that would support the price of a bitcoin.
72  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sidehack stick solo pool club on: October 08, 2015, 06:02:08 PM
I need to do more scraping myself. Right after I figure out what that means.
NRN. that's my way of saying 'no reply needed'  Smiley

Will pm you. Now get back to work.

Yea, it's public knowledge about what nostradums pridicked.
You can though have no appreciation for my powers of precognition.

We are are going to hit a block soon. I say this from experience. I don't just talk the talk.
76  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BM1384 Pod Miner plus trade-in/recycling - an interest and feasibility poll on: October 08, 2015, 02:33:00 PM
I'm not an ebayer, well never a seller I mean. Without even looking at current prices, my mind works like this... You've got to box the thing, pack it well, at least better than bitmain did with the s2's,  wrap it up in tape, pay a 'ups store' a marked up price and hope the receiver doesn't have any complaints.  I just can't justify it.  Beany baby's maybe, but not miners.
If you send me a prepaid shipping box, a roll of tape, and a bunch of bubble wrap, I'll pretty much put anything you ask for into it.
Provided of course that it leads to progress and that maybe I'd get some consideration down the road.

Fine print.. this is not a giveaway to the general public.
77  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BM1384 Pod Miner plus trade-in/recycling - an interest and feasibility poll on: October 08, 2015, 01:29:34 PM
Bring some added value to s1's, s2's, and s3's and the world will come knocking on your door.
I can't be the only one thinking of putting them in the trash.
78  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sidehack stick solo pool club on: October 08, 2015, 03:03:28 AM
I just slipped in 2 or so Gh/s to my stickname  (maybe a high estimate) because i wanted to run my drillbit thumb for a while.
Ha, how many of you know what a drillbit thumb is.
I trust you understand I'm not asking how many of you don't give a darn, I can figure that for myself. Roll Eyes

79  Economy / Speculation / Re: Only 6 million bitcoin be left to mine on: October 08, 2015, 01:33:34 AM
I think the supply thing often slips a lot of minds. There are insane number of new coins arriving every day. Once supply becomes a nominal figure we'll see what true deflationary effects look like.

Yes, many new coins are introduced every day into Bitcoin network and it's quite impressive that we are holding our price in balance when you look at it more closely. New money must absorb these newly mined coins daily.

This is very true and a great point. If this weren't happening the price would have been dropped significantly and this tells that the future of Bitcoin is bright, that people still have faith in it and the price might increase at the next halving? because the flow of coins to bitcoin network will get slow and if the money coming in remains/increase, the price will go up because more demand, less supply equals to price increase ? cmiiw.

It's not what it looks like. Mining pools don't dump their coins every day on exchanges. If that would happen, we couldn't maintain even the $150 price level. There is very little money flowing into Bitcoin at the moment, with that I mean the coin and not the millions that are being invested in Bitcoin related startups.

I think I'm going to have to think about these things for a long (too long, huh) while.
I always curse when I see a 'dump' on bitcoinwisdom. (the tall red candally thing down low that says you're a loser). I always blame it on one person because it's easier than understanding. 1200 coins, you piece and you dropped the price. Fortunately price generally comes back to where it was intending to go anyway. Funny part is that I'm likely a million times off in my estimation of what's moving things.

Mine is back up.   Appears electricity was lost on RPI.  It rebooted but sit there with no miners.  So my average is lower today but should be fixed now.

Now need to find a scrypt to do run it automatically so does not happen again.

I don't know that this addresses what you're saying. I recently had a 20 minute whole house power failure. When it came back on, I deliberately did nothing just to see what my RPI Cgminer-Gekko setup would do. The pi restarted, the sticks restarted, minera restarted (or never went away ). It may have taken another twenty minutes for things to get back to where they were, but they did. And probably would have done it faster if I put a suggested share difficulty in there instead of waiting for that first 1K to get things moving.

From someone who has never used a RPI, I am immensely impressed with it's ability to free me from my pc while mining 24/7. Of course we do the same thing with antminers and such when our blood is running hot, but for sticks this cannot be beat. And you edonkey are going to remain a hero to me for some time for your iteration of Minera/Cgminer-Gekko.  It's absolutely sweet.
